"I had no major issues with Larin. This was my first ever birth control. Given the limited reviews when I started this about 7 months ago, I was freaking out. Let me start with the bad. The first 3 days of taking the first pack, I had the most severe headaches, maybe migraines, of my life. I never get headaches and like clockwork around 3pm the headaches would come. Took the pill at 9am ritually. Crazy enough after the first three days, it went away. As for my periods, they are so sporadic - and generally come in between the start of my third pill back to my fourth. SO annoying. Since I’ve started this, it has never regulated. One month I didn’t get my period at all. My cramps have are also a bad. I like to prepare myself and again depends on the month. No breast tenderness and swelling is minimal; no noticeable weight gain, although I did go up a cup size; no acne, etc."

"I wanna start by saying EVERYONE has a different body. My sister takes the generic brand of Loestrin and LOVES IT!! My friend got the shot and swears by it. I only took the pills for 12 days and I’m stopping MID PACK. Here is what I noticed. 1. I was getting cramps and they hurt kind of bad. 2. I was nauseous and didn’t want to eat sometimes because I was scared to vomit. 3. I have started spotting and not stopped yet 4. I am breaking out again and I have always struggled with acne. I got my skin clear a bout a year ago with spironolactone and epiduo so seeing my skin sh*t itself in 12 days was the one of the last straws. LASTLY my mother said she gained weight on BC so considering genetics I wanted to keep my body how it was. I called a pharmacist and he told me the worst thing that would happen if stopped mid pack would be mood swings due to an imbalance of hormones. Good luck ladies !!"

"Absolutely horrible. This pill gave me extreme mental issues. I started my first pack of pills in November 2017, I’m now on the end of my second pack in February 2018. My first months of pills was fine. From November to February I was recently put on Prozac because I had depression. I have mild anxiety, but this pill made it beyond worse. I have had days where I panic about absolutely nothing. Please listen to the reviews."

"My Gyno recommended this pill to help with my PMS symptoms and migraines. I took it for 6 months and I had no migraines episodes after I started it, didn't have my periods (not even spotted) and therefore no PMS symptoms. It was 100% effective for that reason BUT on the other hand, I've gained 20 lbs that no matter what I did I couldn't lose them. I quit the pill 30 days ago. It took one month for me to get my first period after starting in this pill and in 30 days I've already lost 10 lbs! The weight gain is the only reason why my rating was so low. No woman would like to be treated for one symptom and get as a gift the side effect of gaining weight!"

"Like everyone else says, you have to give this birth control some time as you adjust to the hormones. I'm about 8 months into taking it (had some brand name changes as this is generic for Junel and my pharmacy doesn't carry Junel) and definitely appreciate several nice aspects - shorter more predictable periods, no weight gain, my skin looks better than it ever has, protection against pregnancy. I was a bit moody, nauseous, mild daily headaches, and super fatigued when I first began but I feel all of those things have resolved. The only downside for me is I definitely feel my libido has noticeably decreased, though it is not completely absent by any means. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it!"

"I have been on Larin Fe for about 4 years now and started when I was 16. I would say there are many pros and cons to this specific birth control. For starters, my acne fully cleared up on my entire body and my periods are lighter and shorter. However, my periods are not always regular and I’ve experienced acid reflux and nausea from Larin Fe. It definitely took my body quite a bit of time to adjust to this birth control and for the first couple of months, I experienced very severe side effects such as weight change and mood swings. Overall, everyone’s bodies are different but this is my personal experience."

"I went off this pill because I was so sick of having zero sex drive, and no periods. Back on it, and it is scary not having regular periods, especially with some of these strict laws in some states. It’s great in that it kills your libido to the point you don’t even desire the sex anymore! Hot flashes, constant wetness and itching… definitely changing it up very soon. Not a good choice for me."

"I have taken this pill for about a month now and I have had severe cramping and heavy bleeding. I have been bleeding for 8 days straight. No depression, no anxiety and it has helped my acne. But I’m not sure if I should stay on the pill or go to my doctor and switch. This is frustrating that I’ve been bleeding this long."

"I’m about to switch from this to something else. I’ve been extremely depressed. I’m using an outgoing person. Never been too lazy. But since I’ve started this pill I’ve been not wanting to do anything but sleep and I’ve been really depressed. I’ve also gained a lot of weight. I was 128lb then within the 2 months and a half I’ve been taking the pill I’ve gained 15 pounds. Not happy about that at all. I’m also very sensitive and get upset really easy. I’ve never really been like that before the pill. Headaches are another problem. It seems like I always have a headache. This is my experience with the pill. I honestly don’t recommend it."

"Please read the reviews and listen to them! This pill is terrible. I've been on birth control for years now and was recently switched to this one because Medic aid didn't cover my Junel. I've been taking this for 2 months now and I've missed my period completely for both months - I always used to get a light period before this one. I've also experienced more depression/anxiety, including crying a lot for seemingly no reason, nausea and stomach cramping! The first month, I broke out in acne too. Please avoid this one if you can, I cannot wait to get back on Junel."

"I'm having migraines constantly, been spotting even when I'm continuously take the pill to not have a period, my body hurts and I don't have the strength to do anything most of the time , I'm depressed more than usual and I have a mental illness since birth which has gotten worse. I can't function properly and I have a high phobia of blood and needles. This pill has been nothing but hell on earth to my body I want off it asap. It is no thanks to me being switched to this pill by moving to a new state now my Dr wants me to see a physiatrist which is not needed - I don't need any more bad pills in my life and this is one of them time to switch fast"

"As a first time birth control user, I was really nervous about the side effects we have all heard from birth control horror stories. Thankfully, on this birth control, I experienced little to no side effects. I experienced little to no change in body weight and my acne has cleared up almost completely. (My breasts do swell sometimes and it can be painful for a week or two, but this is rare.) The first two months were not great. I struggled with breakthrough bleeding and was frustrated and startled by the intensity and quantities of the bleeds which lasted for 7-10 days at a time. But after completing about 2.5 packs, my breakthrough bleeding stopped completely and now when I take my placebo week, my withdrawal bleeding lasts about 4-5 days and it’s extremely light. No awful mood changes. Haven’t gotten pregnant either!! lol"

"I began the first pack and everything started out fine. There was no major side effects. Then, came my first period. What a complete nightmare. My period was light and heavy. Making me want to scream in pain from my cramps. I bleed through tampons left and right. Also, it would go on for two days then stop for one. Then begin while I was sleeping. My "period" lasted for 8 days in total compared to its usual 5. Now, two weeks later I've had bloody discharge every single day."

"I had really bad menstrual cramps around my uterus, ovaries, and colon. Larin Fe helped my cramps, eased some of my acne (I only get acne on my period), got rid of my body aches, headaches, breast tenderness, and shortened my period length."

"I wouldn’t recommend this birth control. My boyfriend and I have sex regularly, and I can rely on this to prevent pregnancy. The side effects were not worth it though. I’ve never suffered from acne, but now, I’m having really bad breakouts from the medicine. I’ve gotten hives and swollen lips. Maybe this isn’t a great fit for everyone, so talk to to your doctor!"

"I started taking Larin Fe 1/20 after my insurance stopped covering Lo Loestrin (which I LOVED). Let me tell you this pill is GREAT at preventing pregnancies but I am not sure if the side effects are worth it. I am now on my fourth pack of larin fe and I am the moodiest, most raging women you will ever meet. I really do not recommend starting this pill. My mood swings are insane, I feel depressed most days, any little thing that goes wrong makes me feel very irritable and I usually end up crying. Also, I am very good at taking my pills daily, so I do not know the reason as to why my period is SO heavy and SO painful. I have been getting my period for 8-10 days every month, which is absolutely ridiculous considering I would have it for 3-4 days on lo lolestrin. I am too scared to get the arm implant, so I am going to continue taking these pills, but I am considering just stopping birth control all together as I do not feel like myself since starting Larin."

"Prior to taking this birth control I had terrible cramps, almost completely irregular periods and rough mood swings. This pill saved my girly parts because after about 2 months my period almost completely disappeared, very light and bled maybe a full day and a day of spotting, and moderate cramps every other month. I experience mood swings only the week of my period and it’s been pretty spot on every month. the only time it’s changed is when i take antibiotics. Highly recommend for a beginners birth control pill !!"

"Took Larin Fe 1/20 for almost two years after I had my second IUD removed because it was inserted incorrectly. I would have never gone back on the pill, but I needed my muscle to heal from the IUD being lodged into it. Would not recommend this brand of birth control pills to anyone, I could tell how horrible it made me feel within a month or two of using it. I’m a pretty upbeat person who loves physical activity and being around friends/family, but I quickly hated all those things and found it hard to stay happy all the time. The littlest inconvenient would push me over the edge and it was nowhere near normal. I’ve recently quit it cold turkey and feel AMAZING. I’m back to enjoying life and do not recommend this brand of pill to anyone at all."

"If it weren't the light menstrual cycle, I would give this 1 star. If you have pre-existing mental health issues, I do NOT recommend this birth control brand or check in with a professional while doing so. I was the most suicidal I'd been in years and was constantly anxious until I practiced exercises to regulate my breathing. I noticed my discharge was a lot heavier so watch out for that, too. Overall, BC brands affect everyone differently but please talk to a doctor about your mental health issues if you have been prescribed this brand. Unfortunately, I was prescribed Larin-Fe during the COVID-19 pandemic and communication was not as accessible."

"I thought I was crazy for thinking this Birth Control was making weird things happen to me. I was on Taytulla for 3 years straight with no issues at all and I loved it, then last month my insurance didn't cover it and my OBGYN said she switched me to a "similar pill". It has been a month and a half since I have been on Larin and I noticed I have crazy mood swings, can be super fatigued some days and then have anxious energy the other days, after only being able to sleep 4 hours when I know my body needs 8 normally. I thought it may have been the foods I was eating but I was wrong. I started having breakthrough bleeding for the past 3 days straight in the middle of my cycle and I never had that at all with my previous pill. I am so frustrated that this birth control is on the market because the side effects are horrible. May I also add I had a panic attack within the first month when I hadn't had one in about 4 years."

"I switched to this a couple of years ago when I would end up in a insurance plan that did not cover the Minastrin generic I’d taken for some time. Breakthrough bleeding was an issue on and off for about a year. Tanked my libido from the beginning. Have battled to control weight with diet and exercise for the first time ever. The weight and libido issues have caused anxiety in themselves. I probably put up with this one much longer than I should have. I’m back in a insurance plan that covers the Minastrin generic, so I’m headed back to it. My doctor told me these drugs are the same and they are very very most certainly not. Be your own advocate!"

"Horrible! I was on Larin Fe 1/20 a few years ago and forgot what it was like, so went on it again because I can’t find a birth control I like. Made me gain weight! Every month the scale started to climb for no reason, I then increased workouts and starting counting calories and nothing changed. Also have me severe breast pain...I literally had to ice them."

"this birth control *destroyed* me. I have never been hormonal or emotional to literally everything before. I have been on this for about 6 months and in those six months my urge to have sex has completely diminished, I cry at everything, I’m angry all the time, etc. I seriously would stay away from this pill as long as you live. I’m having to go off of it because it’s ruining my relationship. Seriously stay away from this pill, if I could go lower than 1 star I would"

"I started this birth control on March 8th on the first day of my period and had unprotected sex 7 days after and then two days after that, both on my most fertile days. hoping it works as it should. I keep having pregnancy symptoms such as painful nausea and bloating. I’m tired all the time and have no motivation whatsoever. I have been diagnosed with depression last year and i HIGHLY recommend not to take this pill if you suffer with mental health issues !! This pill made me more suicidal than I have been in a long time, and my mood swings were horrendous. Hopefully I’m not pregnant ! but I would not recommend to those with mental health issues. It did help my acne a bit though, I will admit that."
