Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Reading some of these reviews has made me feel SO much better. I started this BC about 6 months ago, and while my acne/face was certainly not perfect beforehand, it has gotten SOOOOO MUCH WORSE since starting this. Horrible, huge, painful cystic acne - repeatedly, especially on the cheeks. I do not wear makeup at all, so no reason for my pores to be this oily and clogged. Honestly, I am about to just stop taking it, it's really not worth it for me (especially as I'm on it for acne and period maintenance and don't even have a partner at the moment). I've been on several other types of BC over my lifetime - Yaz, Yasmin, Gianvi, Ventura, probably others way back in the day. Absolutely none of those made my face look as bad as this."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I would not recommend this birth control to anyone. I have NEVER had acne or oily skin in my life (I'm 25 years old now) actually I've always had pretty clear skin and very dry skin, and now it's filled with cystic acne and it's constantly oily ever since I switched to this. I have given it 4 months because that's what my obgyn suggested, and it just seems to keep getting worse and worse. And not to mention I've gained 15 pounds, and I'm pretty sure it's made my depression and anxiety worse. I go on the 25th of this month to get switched back and I wish I could just throw this crap in the trash but I'm afraid it'll throw my periods out of whack if I suddenly stop taking it. Ugh! It's awful."

"I've been taking this for about a year now and didn't put two and two together until today. Every month I'd get these bad cystic zits on my face and I rarely ever got them before I started this pill. I wear makeup but that was never really an issue for me. Now seeing what everyone else has to say, I finally realized it is this pill causing me to break out with cystic acne every month! I'm furious! Please do not try, I don't recommend especially if you're looking for a pill to clear ur skin."

Gildess Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "My doctor recommended a gildess fe 1/20 when I complained of the water retention I experienced from Ortho Tri Cyclen (which left my skin clear). Well, this pill does not cause bloating but my skin immediately broke out terribly along my cheeks, jawline & chin. I decided to stick it out since aside from the acne I had no other side effects but the breakouts lasted way longer than I anticipated (about 6 mo). I still get the occasional pimple along the jawline but I'm hoping that they will become less frequent. Taking evening primrose oil (1300mg 2x/day) along with the pill seems to help calm inflammation and lessen hyper-pigmentation from the breakouts ."

Necon 1/35 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I been taking this birth control for a few days. I haven't noticed any change . I needed this specifically for acne and cramps. I took dairy out of my diet because I am allergic to it. I have a feeling this pill put my swelling on my face down . I am in shock how this change my face. I had cyst acne and ever since I taken this pill . My face became less painful . I also been Cleaning my face religiously . I think this pill helped clear up my faster than being two months on sulfamethoxazole which is for my acne . That didn't have an effect . But this birth control . It put down the swelling on my face a WHOLE lot. So this is a life saving pill . Because I was Feeing my face so I can remember the diff what I had before and after this pil ...."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I started this pill three months ago (what a mistake!) Not only has it messed up my skin but I have been a hormonal wreck. Other side effects include breast pain and severe headaches! I do not recommend taking this pill, especially if you are looking to clear your skin."

Microgestin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I have never in my life had acne, including during puberty. I've been on this pill for 3 months and I have the most intense acne all over my chin. I have a very thorough skin care routine but nothing works. Aside from the acne, every time I start a new pack I get an intense headache & physically feel sick like I'm coming down with the flu. This pill has been nothing but issues for me and I just made an appointment to change pills entirely."

Nortrel 0.5/35 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "The doctor recommended Nortrel. She told me to give it about a month to start working. I have been using this for a week and my skin is so clear and glowing again. It may be working fast because I don't have bad skin. It's great."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "My doctor prescribe me this birth control pill saying I will have fewer to almost no periods after being on the this pill! And I didn't see anything wrong until about 7 days into taking the pill. My face broke out terribly!!!!! Like horrible, I hate going into work or outside because I have these huge under the bump on my chin and cheeks. I usually have a few breakouts on my period but neverrrrrr like this. I don't like even living my house unless necessary. I would not recommend this birth control unless you are willing to deal with having bad skin. I'll take a longer menstrual anything or feel unconfident of my skin"

Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Went on it for acne on my chest and neck. It helped that but then it made my face break out like I've never seen. 30+ pimples (mostly by my chin/mouth). It made me so incredibly moody too and break through bleeding for 2 weeks and I just said NO and stopped it. Would never recommend this to anyone, EVER."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I gave it a 4/10 because obviously it works for birth control if that's your main purpose of using this pill. In my case I was using this pill as an aid for acne, I had been on accutane twice and countless types of medications and topical creams so my dermatologist suggested trying birth control. I will NEVER recommend this for someone trying to help their acne. My skin is worse than it has ever been and I have never been more self conscious in my entire life and I start my senior year of high school in less than a month, I regret my decision to go on this pill, it has come to the point where I literally do not even want to go out in public and I do not wear makeup nor do I like make up and I do not want to have to start wearing it."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I started using Loestrin as directed by my doctor. First sunday after getting my period. 2 weeks later I got my period that lasted about 21 days. I stopped taking the pills and my period stop 3 days after. I had terrible mood swings and now I haven't take any birth control pill for the last 3 weeks but my breast hurts so much that I don't let anyone hug me."

Femhrt (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Recently switched from birth conrtol which kept my skin in shape to FemHRT for hormone replacement and guess what?! Acne! I will be on the phone at the crack of dawn to my gynecologist to change me to something that will help my skin as birth control always did. This is absolutely unacceptable to me."

"I started taking this pill about 4/5 months ago and I used to have great skin. Since I’ve started taking this my whole face including my forehead, chin and area around and including my nose is covered in horrible acne. My doctor decided to give me a prescription cream to use to try and help it but it did nothing. I used to have great skin before this and I also noticed I’m hungry all the time and have probably gained a few pounds. I would highly NOT recommend this birth control!"

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I had very bad hormonal acne after a week of taking these pills. After 2 months I can say that my skin has never looked so bad in my entire life! I had to go to a dermatologist and switch back to my previous birth control pills (which, I thought, were not so good... but now I realized that they were wonderful compared to Lo Loestrin Fe!...)"

Loestrin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "This pill is probably good for a lot of people but it is not good for acne prone people. I was constantly breaking out on this pill with horrible, painful cysts. The lower amount of estrogen in this pill is better for a lot of women but it severely aggravated my acne. Right after I switched to a higher estrogen dose pill, my acne cleared up. The only thing I liked about this pill was it gave me very short and light periods."

Gildess Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I was on this medication for about 3 months and was curious where my fits of rage / severe depression came from. Finally my doctor switched me to a new medicine, and later switched me back when they stopped carrying the 2nd medicine. I now have been giving it a second shot for about 6 months but plan to switch to something new today. I've been battling cystic acne all over my jawline for about 3 months now and in this time, I've gained nearly 30 pounds. I've remained a certain weight most of my adulthood - for nearly 10 years. Suddenly, after quitting soda, sugars, changing my diet, working out more - still no losses in weight. Do NOT listen to your doctor and do NOT go on this medicine. I would rather risk no birth control, over taking it."

Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've never had to fight with acne in my life, because fortunately I was blessed with good skin. I started getting large amounts of deep set acne all over my chin and neck once I started this birth control. Also had about two weeks of breakthrough bleeding each cycle. As well as severe mood swings. Would not recommend to anyone."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "If i could rate this a zero, I would. I have suffered with painful periods since seventh grade and finally went on the pill two months ago. I have had near perfect skin my entire life and my skin is so terrible now that even my mother who is the type to say it's not the bad is extremely concerned. My breasts are also extremely sore and I have been spotting so bad that I have to wear a pad, not even a pantie liner. My doctor is not even telling me to stick out the next month, I switching pills next week at the start of my next period. Do not do this to yourself, especially if you have clear skin to start with."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I first started Junel for my periods because I experienced heavy bleeding that would last for days. I never had awful acne but my skin was not super clear, with the first months of being on it my acne was so bad! But now after 11 months my skin is super clear and smooth! Even though my periods are less bleeding and less days, I have had a lot of side effects! I work out regularly and eat healthy yet I have gained over 10 lbs from when I first started talking this, my mood switches too often and I usually feel mad a lot of the time, and my face and hair has became extremely oily and greasy within the last few months. I do not think it has been worth it!"

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've been on this pill for almost three months. I'm on it for my acne because I've suffered from acne for 5 years and I am glad to say it is helping.. On my first month my period came on time and only lasted 4 days however I've recently been cramping but nothing too serious. This pill made me gain a few pounds and I've been very angry and emotional. A lot of my friends and family want me to stop taking it because they say my emotions have been extremely heightened. This pill has not affected my sex drive. I've read a lot of negative reviews on this but I personally don't think it's bad. It's effective and it's hormones so what do you expect? I recommend for a cheaper and effective birth control especially of you suffer with acne."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "If you are taking birth control to help with your acne absolutely DO NOT take this pill. I was put on birth control to help with acne when I was 16, I was on loestrin which helped my acne but I never got my period so when I got to college I switched to Junel and my acne got worse than it was before I was put on loestrin. I had huge pimples that were extremely painful. I barely even wanted to go out in public I was so embarrassed. Recently I was taken off Junel and put on Violere. My skin cleared up in a week!"

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I have been on this medication for almost a year. Before I was on Lo Loestrin I had very painful cramps that kept me in bed for at least 2 days every month. This medication has helped to stop those cramps completely. I never have a period and it is the best thing ever. For some women I think that they would be freaked out by not cycling, feeling as though the blood is "trapped" inside them for some reason, but this medicine works by not releasing any eggs, which means the uterus does not need to shed. If I had to complain about anything it would be acne. I have never had acne, especially on my forehead and chest, and it seems like ever since I started taking this medication I constantly have tiny pimples on my chest and forehead."

Microgestin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "As we all know birth control has different effects on everyone. As for myself and the 2 other people I know who have taken this pill in the past, it has been nothing short of miserable for all 3 of us. I've never related to others when they talk about mood swings during menstruation until I took this pill. Except now my mood swings can happen at any point and I constantly have anxiety. On top of this I am constantly nauseas, have random chest pain and I've developed the worst acne I've had in my entire life. It's a good day if I have one or less breakouts appear on my chin area. As stated before, this pill has different effects on everyone but as for me I can honestly say it has impacted my life and not in a good way."

Gildess Fe 1.5/30 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I love gildess! I've been on spironolactone and two topicals and then later solodyn for acne. I had good results, but I finally decided to try this. I have only had one pimple since taking gildess, and it was minor. I'm so glad I started this medication! I have had sort of weird periods since I've started it is the only downside, but I'm on month three and the doctor said that can happen for the first three months anyway. I highly recommend gildess! I'm a 25 year old female who has been struggling with acne for at least 12 years, and I've tried other birth controls for acne as well."
