Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I have never posted a review for any product, but seeing reviews for this birth control was such an eye opener that I had to! I am 22 and I have been on lolo for about a year. My entire life I maybe got 5 tiny pimples. The first few months of being on this pill I didn't notice any changes. However, each month after that my acne kept getting worse and worse. I did not realize it was from this pill until I started reading reviews and looking and pictures and matching to the time I started this birth control. My acne has gotten so bad that there are times I will not even leave the house. The day I saw these reviews I threw all of my pills in the garbage. It has been a month and I am still fighting the acne. STAY AWAY!"

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "This is the 7th day that I'm taking this birth control. I still don't know how will it affect on my period but so far it made me break out on my chin and around my mouth. It gives me bad headaches and makes me depressed. There is no way I will continue taking this birth control."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've been on this pill for 3 months and started experiencing the worst acne that I've ever had in a long time. I was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo prior to Loestrin24 and other than the price, it was great. I decided to switch to a cheaper pill but this birth control does not control my acne. I'm experiencing breakouts on my chin, cheeks and forehead. I've since called my obgyn and have switched back to Ortho Lo which helps control my acne."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've been on this birth control for 5 weeks now, I was given 3 free months worth to try from my doctor. I take very good care of my skin and I was used to having acne just before a period with my oily combo skin. After the third week of taking this my skin has turned abosolutely horrible! Cystic acne which I've never ever had in my life and I'm in my mid 20's. My entire forehead and cheeks is covered in acne and even spreading to my chest, I'm so upset with this birth control I do not reccommend! I will be going to my doctors tomorrow to switch to TriCyclenLo starting next month. I'm fighting my acne right now with: lush cosmetic warrior mask, 10% benzoyl peroxide medicine, apricot scrub face wash, tea tree oil, and multi vitamins"

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "If I could give this medicine a 0 for acne I would. I've been on it for years because it's the only birth control that seriously regulates my heavy periods, but it makes my skin horrible. I'm in my 20's and my skin looks like a 13 year old's. It gives me horrible cystic acne that no face treatment can clear up. I've tried everything. I didn't have this type of acne in my teens and I was never seriously prone to it before starting this medicine."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've only been on Junel for a week and a half so I'm hoping that this will calm down after I've been on it for a little while but it's given me so much acne! I've always had pretty clear skin and now my face and upper back are literally covered in deep acne and bumps. Also I've noticed that my hair gets greasy faster, too. I just feel so oily and disgusting all the time. I'm trying to stick it out but this is absolutely horrible and I definitely cannot put up with these side effects if they persist. Wouldn't recommend."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Just started taking this pill on Sunday and its now Friday. First two days severe migraine then everyday after I felt great. The only downfall is that I started taking this to control my acne and I feel its just making it worse. I've always heard it will get worse before it gets better so I'm going to try to stick it out. I just hope that's the case. If not I guess I'm going to have to try another option. I'm trying to be patient but when it comes to something like this it's hard."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Absolutely horrible. I have been on this for about a year. I guess I never put two and two together and realized what was causing my breakouts until looking up other women's experiences. I have horrible cystic acne on my cheeks that will come and stay and then my skin will be perfectly clear and it will come right back, not to mention the scars this has caused me. I also agree it has made my anxiety absolutely horrible and sometimes I get so depressed I literally will just cry. I go back to the doctors in February and I am going to asked to be switched. I'm hoping this acne clears up, it is absolutely embarrassing... especially when your job makes you deal with the public all day"

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Absolutely hated this birth control pill. Within a few days of taking it, the cystic acne started and I read some reviews urging people to stick with it and it'd get better, so I did for 6 months, but this wasn't the case for me. My skin got worse.. A lot worse. My skin wasn't great to begin with, but it was horrible on loestrin. Whole face covered in under the skin bumps and large cystic acne on cheeks and chin. Been off of it for almost 4 months and I can't seem to get the acne gone now. So frustrating. No other side effects"

"I have been on this pill for a little over a year now. I didn’t make the connection until I looked it up today, but my acne got so much worse right around the time I started it. My skin was never perfect but I would only really have small pimples on my forehead. The last year I have had huge cystic pimples covering my jawline and cheeks that are constant. It has made me so depressed and self conscious. Not to mention this pill has made my periods super irregular and even more painful than they already were before. I am getting an IUD soon and can not wait to stop taking this pill for good! I would never recommend this pill to anyone especially if you’re hoping to improve your acne!!"

Blisovi Fe 1.5/30 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I started birth control 6 weeks ago (one month 2 weeks) hoping it would help with my acne, heaviness of my flow, and cramps. So far I’ve had my period 3 times this month lasting around 1-3 days. Before I started birth control I didn’t have bad skin, just breakouts when my menstrual cycle began. Ever since starting birth control I’ve had so many breakouts, to the point where I don’t want to be seen. Yes my acne isn’t as bad as others, but it’s still bothersome, when I went on this medication to fix this problem."

Junel Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I'm just finishing up my first month of Junel fe and I'm pretty pleased. I was put on Junel fe for acne and to be honest I was really skeptical because of all the negative reviews. I had an initial minor breakout but ever since then my skin has been clearing up. I've given it a 7/10 because I've noticed slight weight gain (2 pounds) and weird mood swings. But I would strongly recommend this birth control."

Microgestin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Absolutely terrible. I got cystic acne and I now have scars. I was never prone to acne before, just the occasional pimple. My breakouts now cover a part of my cheek that contain about 10 pimples at once. Terrible."

Ortho-Novum 1/35 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I've been on this pill for 2 months and have seen decent acne results. Now it hasn't cleared up completely and I still get pimples. Be aware if you have scarring, it will get worse before it gets better. I'll probably switch to Ortho Cyclen after month 3 if the acne isn't completely gone. The top ones I would recommend you for acne: 1. Yasmin, 2. Ortho Cyclen 3. Diane 35. Hope this helps anyone with hormonal acne/ has had it since high school like me and is now in her junior year of college."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I am BEYOND angry at how terrible my skin broke out while using this medication. It was a mystery to myself and family when my face began to break out terribly, to the point where I was prescribed oral acne medication and the painful cysts still didn't go away. This medication almost ruined my skin, I am so thankful I stopped when I did and read these reviews! It's honestly infuriating that this was the cause! I stopped taking this pill about a week ago and my skin has already cleared up substantially. Do not recommend!!!!"

Nortrel 1/35 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "Doctor prescribed me this and I wish I never took it. Have to finish the pack so my period will get back on track. But honestly this sucks. Made me go from mild acne to severe cystic acne on forehead and chin with reoccurring whiteheads on my nose and t zone. Hate it."

"I went on this birth control due to the fact that I was breaking out, and had never experienced bad skin ever before. It was hormonal acne and it was relatively painful and I was getting a new pimple almost everyday (all in my T-Zone). When I started the birth control my skin got worse and there was a decent amount of spotting. My skin continued to break out badly for the first two month of birth control. But I highly suggest waiting it out because now on the fourth month my skin looks better than it has in quite a while, and any pimple I randomly get is not nearly as painful, and in the end the birth control kept my acne from scarring my face. It works very well it just takes a couple months."

"I started taking norethindrone about 6 months ago and it has been absolutely MISERABLE. I hadn’t made the connection between my serious acne (and other issues), until my mom suggested I google “norethindrone and acne” and found this. While taking this pill my face has transformed from smooth and minimal pores to dozens of cystic THROBBING and PAINFUL pimples. I also have had similar mood swings, depression, weight gain and a constant feeling of bloating and puffiness in my face. Basically the worst period of the year amplified everyday. I tried so many creams, gels, facewashs and masks, not to mention went gluten free, dairy free and even vegetation for multiple weeks and increased my water intake substantially to see if that was the problem, but NOTHING CHANGED AND ONLY GOT WORSE."

"This is my second month on this medication and I've called my doctor to take me off it and switch my birth control. My acne comes in waves, sometimes my face can be clear for months at a time and sometimes I'll get pimples randomly. Since starting this pill, I've broken out worse then ever before and mostly around my mouth and chin. I'm 27 years old. I haven't really had any other negative side effects with this pill, but the acne is bad. I never write reviews, but I feel very strongly that this pill is TERRIBLE enough to let others know."

"I was on this pill for almost 3 months. It gave me horrible painful cystic acne. I broke out a little bit before taking this pill, but it was constant with this pill. Also my skin was really itchy, only after using constant topical steroids did I begin to wonder what was causing the itching and did some research. Made anxiety much worse and crying all the time. The side effects were too much. Had to stop right before the 3 month mark."

Loestrin 24 Fe (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "This so far has been the only pill/birth control where I don't feel emotionally unstable; I feel like my regular self. HOWEVER, I have noticed a significant increase in pimples: breakouts on my face. It looks terrible, like connecting the dots. I feel like I'm just going to deal with it because it's the lesser of the two evils. Also, this is only my second pack of if, but I did have 2 periods in one cycle. I've never had that with another birth control. Probably going to get another pack at my next appt. I would much rather feel emotionally normal than have perfect skin. Yes, my skin is looking bad. But not many other options!"

Microgestin Fe 1/20 (ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone) "I was on Microgestin fe 1/20 for 4 years. In the beginning everything was fine. My acne from high school went away, I didn't have anymore cramps, and very light periods. Now that i'm on my 4th year i noticed that all of a sudden I started getting cystic acne all over my chin area! I knew that chin acne is a result of hormonal imbalance which confused me since I was on this birth control for years! My dermatologist recommended that I switch to Ocella since its better for acne."
