For Birth Control "I have been on Junel, microgestin, and aurovela mixed around for almost 2 years and have never had any issues, and this was the first BC I was ever put on. I had gotten on birth control due to extremely painful periods and was scared of side effects so my OB recommended the low dosage. My only problem with it is that when I’m on the placebo week my cramps are still extremely painful. I will usually just skip the placebo week and move on to the next pack to skip periods. (Checked with my Dr, he was ok with it) overall good BC."

For Birth Control "I was hospitalized from intracranial hypertension from what I believe is from this birth control. I have had a hard time with anxiety before I even took this but after it has gotten a lot worse and I had to be put on some meds to regulate it. All I can say is that it made my life so much worse in the matter of two months. Please, run away from this drug as fast as you can."

For Birth Control "I was switched to Aurovela when I moved and changed pharmacies about 4 months ago. I've dealt with anxiety and depression for my entire life, but I was always able to cope until I started Aurovela. I lost all motivation, could barely force myself out of bed most days, and it amplified my anxiety nearly to the point of having panic attacks. I've always been a stoic person, but while taking this medication, I was constantly on the verge of tears. I started to suspect a few weeks back that the medication was causing my extreme mood swings, anxiety, and depression, so I made an appointment with my doctor and just got switched to a new medication. I've only been off Aurovela for a few days, but I'm already feeling a million times better. I can't believe I toughed it out for so long. I've tried several brands of birth control pills over the last decade, but this is by far the worst. Save yourself the trouble, don't take this medication."

For Birth Control "I have never had anxiety issues, but after starting on this pill, I stopped sleeping (3 hours a night is all can ever get) and ANXIETY!!! I thought something else bothered me, but there was nothing going wrong in my life so I was really puzzled. I have never had anxiety (well, maybe for a day or two here and there like all people, but not for a month day and night). I am not prone to depression or anxiety. I am stopping it today."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Aurovela for 8 months, it makes me extremely irritable and I haven’t been able to gain weight I’ve always weighed 125lbs and now I struggle to get over 113lbs. It has also recently stopped my period"

For Birth Control "Aurovela Fe 1/20 has made me have severe anxiety, and I have never had anxiety before. I have had some bouts of depression over the years, also managed it without meds though. This made the episodes more frequent and into deeper depression. I also would get migraines that would last for 2-3 days at a time, that wouldn't resolve with tylenol/advil/excedrin which is also odd for me. Had random mensural cramps as well, all through the month. When it was the week of my period, it would be heavy, cramps, migraines, nausea, and sore achy legs."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever been on. I have gained 7 lbs, had uncontrollable crying, very irregular periods (early and 2 weeks long), awful acne, and lots of cramping/diarrhea. I really do not recommend this birth control. I’ve been on it about 5 months now."

For Birth Control "I have been taking birth control since I was 17 (currently 22). And this is the worst one by far. I’m reading the few reviews that are saying they like it, and I’m not believing it. Yes, I’m aware that birth control has different effects on everyone, but this specific one is messing me up bad. I waited until I was done with my period to start, and it immediately gave me intense cramps that put me into a fetal position. They made me throw up every day since starting (it’s only been two months, but like I said, side effects like this are NOT normal for ME at all), my bleeding hasn’t fully stopped and is heavy and light; it flip flops. And, it has given me both constipation and diarrhea. TMI, but I haven’t had a normal poop in WEEKS. 0/10, I do not recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control I’ve ever taken and my experience was just plain awful. I’ve dealt with cystic acne my whole life and this pill has simply worsened it a week before my period, I would get huge I mean the biggest painful nodules I’ve ever dealt with. I gained about 8 ish pounds which is normal for most pill but I would also have so many pregnancy symptoms which led to me to take countless tests. Not to mention it would wake me up in the middle of the night with nausea at least once every week. I know every bodies different but personally I had an awful experience and I would Recommend another pill far different from this one. (I was on this for about 4 months)"

For Birth Control "The only good thing about this Aurovela Fe 1/20 pill is that I haven't experience any bloating or weight gain but it has been giving me bad breakouts and very dry skin and my Junel had never let my skin feel tight at all."

For Birth Control "I am currently on week four taking Aurovela because my pharmacist couldn’t get my normal birth control in (Junel Fe 24). I am still new at taking birth control. I have been taking it for about 8 or so months now and haven’t had a problem until now. After switching I have been experiencing horrible breast pain and I can also feel lumps. I know it’s normal to experience breast tenderness and develop some acne when starting or changing birth control, but this exceeds breast ‘tenderness’. I have had breast pain for the entire time I have been taking Aurovela and have had acne breakouts here and there. My anxiety has also picked up as well."

For Birth Control "I have used this med for probably a year now after it was switched on me through the pharmacy. I really wish I had read these reviews sooner! I haven’t felt like myself for awhile & thought I was going crazy! Now I know why. This is the worse birth control ever. I am terrified to try anything new after trying this..can’t believe birth control can make you feel this way. Horrible!"

For Birth Control "Before going on this medication I had for the most part clear skin and was actually happy with it! I've been doing a nightly skin routine every night to keep it this way! But when I started this birth control, almost instantly I got acne all along my chin line and lower cheeks. My face is so sore and tender along with my boobs! And they are also 2 sizes bigger and are constantly sore. I am going to get it switched as my face looks terrible now. Mood swings come and go as well..."

For Birth Control "I have been on other generics for this birth control...Larin Fe 1/20 and Microgestin Fe 1/20. I had a great experience on BOTH of those medications and was on them for about 3 years. No weight gain, clear skin, light/ no periods. Then I went off BC for a few years which brings us to the present. My OB/GYN prescribed me Larin Fe 1/20 again but my pharmacy couldn't get Larin, so they gave me Aurovela Fe 1/20 instead. Worst. Experience. Ever. Now, I know that it takes time for your body to adjust, but I know my body on this medication in other brands so I know Aurovela is causing trouble. The worst is the chin acne, bloating (constant), and trouble with constipation. My lifestyle habits haven't changed. I still workout 3-4 times a week and drink plenty of fluid and have a fairly healthy diet which includes fiber. I am not on any other medications either except this pill. I called my pharmacy to switch me to a different brand. If Junel Fe 1/20 doesn't work, I'm switching pharmacies."

For Birth Control "Got on the pill for hormone related anxiety and acne and for the first few months on certain days I was sick as a dog. I recommend taking at night. I now have no side effects and its working great but the point of my review is to tell people to NEVER use a pharmacy that changes brands all the time!! My body was getting used to Aurovela and when i got my third month supply they gave me an entirely different pill and told me they were the same thing just one was a generic version of Aurovela, LIES! My mother talked to a pharmacist after I was already through with the different pill packs and back on aurovela and he said they indeed were not the same. I’m now going to start using ExpressScripts so its shipped TO ME directly."

For Birth Control "I am on my second pack of Aurovela and so far it has been the worst experience. I used to take Microgestin and never had ANY side effects. I took a 4 year break from BC as I was single, but recently wanted to start up again due to bad PMDD. Since it was Microgestin was discontinued my doc started me on this. I've been in such a funk with depression, anxiety, AWFUL CYSTIC ACNE, yet I wasn't attributing it to the birth control, because I just had COVID, so I thought my body was still recovering. After reading the reviews though I know its the BC. You know when you start your period and you feel ugly for a few days? (i.e. bad complexion, bloated, tired, sad, etc), well Aurovela has made me feel like this for over a month. I know BC affects everyone differently, however, I feel like this one is universally terrible, especially if you're already struggling with mental health. For reference I'm 26yo Latina."

For Birth Control "If I can stop one person from taking this, it’ll be great. One of the worse medications I have ever been on. My Gyno has prescribed it due to being diagnosed with PCOS etc. I have never in my life ever cried more and complete mental breakdowns in my life. It made super depressed , I had gained over 20 pounds easily. Etc. It extended my period for over 2 months straight. Please don’t take this."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 6 months and every day I take the pill, about 4-6 hours after, I feel nauseated. Most of the time, I can push through it but sometimes I can't. My depression got noticeably worse, and I developed anxiety while taking this pill. The only positives things are it has a $0 copay (at least for me) and I haven't gotten pregnant. 3/10. Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I took this for a month before I immediately got off of it. I originally had been on Lo Loestrin Fe for over a year before my insurance stopped paying for it. Then switched to Microgestin for a few months, which was fine except I was getting occasionally cystic breakouts. Switched to this and for the first month I had never been more emotionally unstable. I had the worst mood swings and cried hysterically for no reason (and I don't cry very easily either). It got to the point where I had some rather--dark--thoughts. As soon as I switched back to Lo Loestrin Fe, the depression, mood swings, and frantic crying subsided. I had some 2 months left of the Aurovela Fe, but I would literally never give it to my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Aurovela because I wanted to go on one to regulate my periods as they were long (normal a week or more) and heavy and I felt like I was anxious, pissy and impatient. I am sensitive to medication so I have always been scared to take strong medications. Basically I got on the first day of my period and I felt fine the first week. I did start to notice I was cramping more than usual and my body definitely felt more “full” especially chest area. What started to get me worried was that my period went on for 14 days and was heavy everyday. I got very constipated and I ended up having to go to the doctor would prescribed me a heavy duty laxative and instructed that I should go to the ER if I don’t get better. I immediately stopped the birth control as I found some research papers that stated that hormonal changes due to birth control can inflame the colon. I’m only a 2 weeks in and I wanted to keep going but having an inflamed colon is not fun at all."

For Birth Control "If you struggle with mental health, this birth control is definitely not for you. It was prescribed to me by my gyno after a 2 minute conversation with her, and she essentially rushed the conversation because she was very busy and told me that this is what she starts all her patients on. So I took her word for it and took the birth control for about 6 months. My mood stability went out the window and I became very reactive, acting like I was PMSing all the time. I was irritable, sensitive, emotional, and just feeling down all the time. Even after a week of not taking it I feel so much better mentally. I’m hoping as my body comes back to normal before the BC I feel more like myself again. Additionally, I used to suffer from acne but have had relatively clear skin for the past year. Taking this BC has made my skin flare back up with hormonal acne and it’s been very frustrating. Not a fan at all of this BC."

For Birth Control "This is my first time using aurovela or the pill as birth control. In the beginning I experienced nausea and breast tenderness. Over time the breast tenderness went away but the nausea is constant. I didn’t think the pill was the reason but I woke up out of my sleep one night crying about something I thought I was over. My anxiety is through the roof and I’ve never had a problem with it before. I take my pill at 8 every night so I didn’t feel as sick as the pill would make me. Now I’m on month 2 and I've had cramping, bloating, painful headaches..etc. all the reviews I’ve read I can relate too the only good part is not being pregnant and having clear skin but other than that this pill kicks me in the butt! I’ve also had spotting weeks before my period."

"I was only on the medication for 4 days but it made my depression, body aches, swelling, brain fog, nausea, etc much worse. I was trying to give the pill another chance because of my PMDD but my experience on this pill was awful. Today was my first day off of it and outside of the nausea I have more energy and I am beginning to feel like myself again."

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for a year. Positive Effects: For about 11 months, it made all my acne and pore congestion completely disappear. This was really why I remained on the medication for so long despite the bad side effects. It also made my period disappear during placebo week starting at the 3rd month. It did reduce my libido a tiny bit, but not to the point where it made me not want sex or my boyfriend. Negative Effects: At around 12 months, my skin began breaking out. Not extreme break outs, but I no longer has flawless skin as I had for 11 months. I experience extreme bloating for the first couple months. Extreme like intense discomfort. This did get "better", but I was always bloated the entire year of taking this medication. I did realize that my mood swings got worse while taking this pill."
