"I was on this for a month and a half. First month I was so nauseous and had horrible headaches. Also had been super anxious and emotional. Start of my my second pill pack I got borderline cystic acne out of nowhere. I just switched back to my old birth control. I googled the reviews tonight and saw that 80% had a negative effects no wonder I feel and look like this. I can’t believe anyone thought to prescribe this to me this I’m actually livid. 4 days before Christmas and I have over 25 pimples on my face. When I say last Friday my skin was clean I’m not kidding. Livid."

"I was scared to start this birth control from the reviews I have read but I have had zero issues with it. I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 4 years and needed to switch because of insurance issues. I did not gain any weight, break out, or have any unwanted side effects. My boobs felt a little swollen for the first week or so but that quickly faded. I got my period when expected and it was so light for 3 days. I have had no issues and I am pleasantly surprised with how easily I transitioned to this pill."

"I was switched to this birth control, previously taking Lo Lo Esterin, and now have been on this birth control for the last 2 weeks. All I have seen are negative reviews and mom told me to try it out because every birth control is different for everyone. This birth control I can already tell is horrible. I have tender breasts, terrible irritability, and I mean BAD & very emotional. The smallest things have been setting me off and I’m not normally like that at all except for 1-2 days before I begin my period. I have also noticed increased appetite and that worries me as well because I don’t want to gain weight due to a birth control. I am very upset with this situation when my old birth control was perfect for me. Do not take this birth control, it is awful and as everyone else is saying but it will turn your life for the worst."

"I started taking Aurovela Fe 1/20 a month ago (Sep 2021) and the reviews scared me at first but so far my side effects have been small pimples on my cheek and forehead, nausea like once a week and like 2 days where I randomly felt sad and started crying outta nowhere lol. That’s it. This is my first time ever taking birth control and I mainly got it because of my really heavy periods and TERRIBLE cramps. I started my period 3 days ago and so far it’s been lighter and I got very very light cramps the first 2 days to where they were manageable and I didn’t need to take any pain relievers. But just keep in mind that everyone reacts differently to these type of things, especially if your doctor or pharmacy switched you from a high dose BC to a low dose BC (which would be Aurovela). As for the pimples I use Curology so that’s been helping me and I drink some ginger ale whenever I get nauseous. I hope my review helped!"

"I love this pill!! I was given Aurovela fe 1/20 after almost losing my IUD which ended up being imbedded in my cervix for months. I was scared to be put on hormonal birth control because of all the side effects I’ve heard people had. However, I love this pill. I haven’t had any mood swings, my migraines have gone away completely, and my periods have gotten significantly lighter. I have nothing but good reviews for this birth control!! I can’t believe all the bad reviews I see for this pill."

"I have been using this birth control for 6 months and recently switched from the IUD due to getting BV continuously. My anxiety has been worst than it has been in a long time. I sleep so much more now and noticed I was slowly falling into a depression. I lost interest in many things and had less patience than I did before. My boobs are so sore and hurt all the time. I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one after reading the reviews I thought it was just me. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone especially if you have a history of anxiety and depression. I’m stopping the pill now that I know the causes to a lot of the side effects I have gotten."

"This is the first birth control I've ever been on (still on it currently) and I will be honest: the first three months are awful. I was feeling ill and not like myself and while I don't recommend you keep going feeling this way I will say that after three months on it all my bad symptoms stopped. It was like my body flipped a switch and said, "Okay, I'm used to this now." Haven't had a pregnancy scare or period ever since then. This contraceptive isn't for everyone."

"This is by far the worst thing I’ve ever been on in my entire life period and the OBGYN nurse says everything is “normal” and I should expect three months of this… I started eight days ago and I was put on this pill to help with light breakthrough bleeding and cycle regulation. The last eight days have been bad! My stomach has been extremely bloated hard and descended with a ton of pressure and cycling painful cramps and to me the worst part is the endless dark red sticky stringy coagulated blood clots ranging from silver dollar in size to mainly nickel and dime in size. Bleeding through everything constantly I’ve basically been chained to the toilet for the last eight days because thier is so much blood. I honestly thought I might have had a miscarriage because of what’s been coming out of me. The irony is I started taking it to control the bleeding and now I’m bleeding 10x’s more 10’s worse! I’m stopping immediately!"

"I have been on Microgestin since I was 17 because it was my form of protection from pregnancy, and now I am 25. When I first started it was great, I saw my periods come once a month - very regular which I loved. I didn't gain weight, or start getting acne. But I did noticed mood swings, it wasn't too bad. Just something I would notice before my period. I never had any issues with it after all this time, but now I am married and I am noticing a low sex drive, not sure if it is this birth control pill, or something else? I am worried of getting off it, so sudden since I have been taking it for so long. The pill is the form of birth control I have personally taken this entire time, not sure how my body react to others..."

"My doctor recommended this this birth control as my first one because of the low hormones and I haven’t had any physical side effects at all. I can say I’m a little more emotional than normal but my new cramp free 3 day periods make up for the extra crying"

"I know everyone has different reactions but I was on this birth control Aurovela Fe 1/20 for two months and it was awful. I have never really struggled with acne before, I’d always get one or two breakouts here and there, mostly when I was about to get my period. However after starting this pill I developed cystic acne all over my face. I tried to wait it out because I know it can take some time to regulate however it only was getting worse over time. I also experienced the worst depression I have ever had. My period was great at first normally I have really heavy periods and bad cramps and I didn’t have any cramps at all and it was super light. After the first month I started to experience break through bleeding and had a two week long period which was super painful and heavy after that I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and talked to my doctor. I just didn’t feel like myself at all. Affter being off of it for only about a week I feel 10 times better!"

"Aurovela was the first birth control pill I tried. It was not the right fit for me. It caused extremely irregular bleeding, where I would either spot all month or not bleed at all. I have always had above average skin with no acne. But when I started Aurovela, my skin was inflamed with constant breakouts that looked more like a rash. I am also not an emotional person, but found myself crying at everything when I was taking Aurovela. All in all, not my best experience with the pill, but if it works for others, more power to you!"

"I first started a different brand of birth control but a change of insurance led me to switch pharmacies to Walgreens. They gave me Aurovela Fe 1/20 and shortly after, I was having a hard time believing life was worth living. Not an exaggeration. I couldn’t pinpoint why I felt this way other than saying I just felt “icky.” When I finally got over one anxiety, my mind was searching for another. Absolutely miserable. When I finally decided I had to try SOMETHING to feel better, I looked up the pill and found these reviews. Even just the simple validation of knowing it was the medication causing my downward spiral has made me feel light years better. My pharmacist says it may be a whole cycle until I return to my normal self and I am beyond excited. This drug made me feel like I was going to feel awful until the day I died, then convinced me I was going to die SOON. I am upset at Walgreens for pedaling this generic drug to so many women, despite the side effects."

"I was put on this after my insurance didn’t cover my Lo Loestrin Fe anymore. I’m on week three, and it’s the worst experience I have had with birth control yet. I have had horrible stomach issues, nausea, migraines, and even a really bad period. Wouldn’t advise for anyone to take this!!"

"I've been on Aurovela Fe 1/20 for about 5 months now and never ever have I felt the worst in my life. I have severe insomnia, 24/7 anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts, and constant UTIs. I just spoke my doctor to prescribe me back to Junel. I'm not myself, and it's time I do something about it. Life is short and I'll do whatever it takes to make the most of it including stop taking any medication that can alter my body. I didn't realize until I read reviews on Aurovela that I also am experiencing weight gain and enlarged breasts (similar to when I was pregnant). It's time to stop taking this medication cold turkey."

"This pill almost cost me my relationship with my boyfriend! Horrible mood swings as soon as I started this and was on it for about 2 months. I also started experiencing severe hair loss to the point where I’m almost balding. The moods made me feel super anxious, self conscious, very irritable and felt like crying over everything! I was on Junel for the longest and it worked great. But apparently the pharmacist said they weren’t making it anymore so they switched me to Aurovela. I can't keep on taking this pill and am discontinuing it immediately! And had I seen all of these horrible reviews I never would have started taking it to begin with."

"If you have a history of depression and/or anxiety, this birth control pill Aurovela Fe 1/20 may make it worse. I have depression and anxiety that I have been treated for for 5 years now and been stable on medication. I have been taking microgestin fe 1/20 for about 3 years now and my pharmacy ran out of everything and this was their only option. Within 3 weeks I am experiencing depression and anxiety similar to when I was first diagnosed with depression and wasn’t in treatment for it. It’s awful. I feel terrible, Aurovela Fe 1/20 has given med side effects of me bing extremely bloated, my boobs are insanely huge and so sore, I have acne break outs in 6 places on my face and all over my chest and collar bone area. This pill is absolutely awful and I hate how it makes me feel. The pharmacist assured me it was all the same active ingredients and I shouldn't notice a change. Well when I’m 3 weeks into it and having suicidal thoughts return for the first time in 5 years and this has been the only change, I beg to differ."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS. I have never experienced such depression and suicidal thoughts. It made me gain about 12 pounds and I never felt like myself it made me crazy. I’ve always struggled with anxiety but not like this. I got off of it and within the first 3 days I lost 10 pounds and my friends even noticed a difference in my behavior. I realized how sad I was on a regular basis. This pill has ruined my view on any birth control and I will never try any form of it again."

"So I was on this pill for about a year but they recently switched me. My experience with this pill was the first month taking it I bled for a couple months and had on and off nausea. But after that I noticed that I was gaining weight. Not in my stomach but more in all the right places which my genetics play a part. Ay appetite was increased and it never worsened my anxiety or depression. I overall had a good experience with this pill"

"I actually don’t have a lot of side effects with this drug. I got on it to help with my periods and clear my skin. My skin cleared up right away and my period became light and eventually went away. But, my period eventually came back and hasn’t gone away in 2 months. I tried to keep taking it to see if it would go away because it’s worked for everything else, but it’s not leaving so I’m trying Junel. Other than that it is good, and remember birth control is different for everyone."

"The absolute worst thing I’ve ever put into my body. I’ve always been a happy, upbeat person. On this pill I struggled with extreme anxiety, depression, weight gain, acne, uncontrollable anger, insomnia and mood swings since being on this pill. I was great on Junel. Never once had a suicidal ideation until a few months being on Aurovela. It took me awhile to connect the dots. I thought my anxiety and depression were outside factors until I took a few months off from taking the pill and felt like my normal happy self again. Then going back on to it I felt the anxiety, depression, and anger kick in and take over my life. I’m an actual lunatic on the pill. I highly recommend staying as far away from Aurovela as possible."

"I’ve been on this pill for about 6 months and I am stopping it immediately because of the effects it has had on my mental health. I’ve never been this depressed or having anxiety this bad in my life. My feelings get hurt so easily and I cry almost every day. I can’t control myself when I get the feeling of crying. I’ve cried in front of my family and friends which I used to never do because it used to take a lot for me to cry. It’s also made me feel really insecure with myself and think so badly of myself because it’s made me so depressed and think so negatively about any and everything in my life. I’ve never experienced this severe mental health in my life, please don’t use this birth control. It’s made me lose a lot of weight too. The only good thing from this was it got rid of my period and I’ve had clear skin."

"I was on Aurovela Fe 1/20 for a year and it definitely made my period a lot lighter and I never had issues with cramps or anything. The downside is that I used to stay around the same weight for years but after being on it I gained 10 pounds. I also used to never really have issues with acne until I started Aurovela. I've now been off of it for a month and my skin has already gotten so much better!"

"Been taking this for 6 months. I switched to the pill from the patch for irregular periods and breakthrough bleeding. My periods were non existent until this last month (month 6) I was spotting and passing clots for about a week with severe cramps. I’ve also gained 15-20 pounds depending on what scale I use. I’ve been at the same weight previously for 3+ years and having that change has drastically made my depression worse. I have anxiety attacks without this pill and after starting it the frequency has gone up tremendously. I have a condition called POTS and my symptoms of tachycardia and hypertension have gotten worse since starting this medication. Upside, I’m not pregnant! Overall would NOT recommend this drug at ALL."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS!! I took only the first 12 days of this pill and had to stop IMMEDIATELY! I have always been happy and active and has never experienced unusual depression or anxiety until I took this! I couldn’t sleep, or eat for weeks! I lost 10 pounds and experienced depression on a whole new level. I was away at college and had to call my mom to come get me because I was experiencing suicidal thoughts. DO NOT TAKE THIS. I’ve been off of it for 6 days now and am JUST NOW starting to eat small meals and feel like I’m in my right mind. If you have experienced crippling anxiety and can not seem to reason know it’s this medication. This seriously needs to get off of the market ASAP because 78% of girls that take this feel the same way. I’m never taking birth control ever again."
