"As far as birth control goes, Chateal does its job. It definitely kept me from getting pregnant and was very easy to use as long as you can remember to take the pill at the same time everyday (setting an alarm on my phone helped me). However, it gave me horrible acne. I have struggled with acne my whole life, mostly cystic, and after only a few days my face was covered far worse than I've ever had before. I would say if you have cystic acne or are acne prone in general, do not use this product! It will only make your acne worse."

"I started taking Chateal about a month and a half ago. The first month was fine and I thought I found a BC with no side effects. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case for the second month. Around my 5th week I started to get bad headaches and wasn’t sure where it was coming from until I read the reviews. My other side effect was irregular bleeding. My period ended between 4-5 days and then about 4 days after it ended I started bleeding again. It wasn’t heavy and it wasn’t deep red however it did have a “scent” that isn’t normal for me or my periods. I’m trying not to stop because of course, I don’t want to get pregnant but my side effects are embarrassing and uncomfortable. Seeing now that a lot of women lost their sex drive is really making me what to stop this medication tomorrow. Hopefully your experience is different."

"I've always had extremely heavy, long periods. My depression and anxiety would flare up the week prior and I would be exhausted the two days leading up to starting of it every month. I tried a few other birth controls in the past but either had suicidal thoughts or got pregnant. I opted for Chateal through an online service because well, frankly anything was better than what my body went through naturally. I've been on Chateal for over a year now. My depressive episodes are much farther apart and come on much slower. My bleeding lightened up over time from several super plus to maybe one regular and panty liners. No nausea as others reported and I take mine in the AM with food."

"The first month of taking it, it had my emotions all out of whack. There was definitely a decrease in my sex drive. I didn't see a difference in my weight or acne. Those stayed about the same. My period cramps are much worse. But overall the pill did prevent me from getting pregnant."

"I was on chateal for about two years until I moved to a different state that didn't carry it. The best thing about was it cleared my skin completely! I wouldn't even wash my face for days and I still never got a pimple (I'm definitely prone to acne). However it did lower my sex drive and make me extremely apathetic. The week before my period I always got aggravated easily too which was odd cause I'm a very mellow person. No weight gain though! The first month it did make me a little emotional but after that I really didn't have any emotions (which was the problem). However I really do miss this medication. Now I constantly have acne and the pill I'm on now makes me spot. Definitely recommend chateal though."

"This was my first birth control medication and I had a pretty rough time with it. I thought it would help clear up my acne. I didn't have acne issues whatever before taking this medication and it just completely made me break out like never before. Also, I'm not much of an emotional person at all and had major mood swings and sometimes depression. Yes, it did serve it's purpose by preventing pregnancy, it did help regulate my period, and my cramps weren't as bad, however my face is literally a pepperoni face. I just got off of it 2 weeks ago and my face is starting to clear up and I'm not moody anymore. For a 19 year old college student, you definitely don't want to have acne and mood swings. I would not recommend taking this AT ALL."

"I'm on my second month with Chateal. Honestly I'm will stop using it for good. I gained 12 pounds in less than two months. I go every single day to the gym. I eat healthy healthy healthy!! My mood changed. I can't see my boyfriend, because I feel like he is disgusting. I can't remember the last time I had sex with him. I have nausea, can't sleep, my knees are weak, my stomach hurts so bad. The good thing about it is that my periods are better. Every woman is different"

"Everything seemed fine, except for being super moody and crying a lot. I've had gas bloating / vomiting twice, keeping me up all night, and that never used to happen. Also a decreased libido. Honestly not having sex is better than this."

"I've been on Chateal for almost 2 months now. I went to Planned Parenthood because I was having irregular bleeding as well as really bad acne which I never had before. They gave me a year supply of Chateal and as soon as I went home and saw the bad reviews I was really hesitant to start them. First few weeks I felt a little nauseous but nothing unbearable, a few headaches but they weren't totally painful and my acne cleared up. I was really happy that it seemed to agree with my body until I started to notice I was losing some hair. Now 2 months into it I feel like I've lost quite a lot of hair, there's no bald patches or anything but I used to have really thick hair and now my hair has really thinned out and strands are always coming out constantly. It's making me really insecure about something I never had a prob with. As much as I'd love to stay on Chateal I've made an appointment with my new dr to hopefully find something else."

"I honestly started taking this pill and loved it. I wasn't getting any acne or weight gain; however 3 months into taking this pill my periods suddenly stopped. My periods stopped but I was still having cramps. It's actually become very concerning."

"I have been taking this birth control for almost 1 month and starting my next month tomorrow. Not very many side effects except from tiredness and a few headaches here and there. The headaches are coming more frequent now but I am not sure as to if the birth control is causing this. But Chateal has worked great for me."

"I've been on this for almost a year and I've never had any issue except mild nausea before my period. My periods use to be very heavy and last two weeks and the PMS would take a serious toll on me. On this my periods are lighter and last 4-5 days. My PMS is significantly lessened. I still get teary eyed pretty easily before my period but now I'm not a raging PMS machine."

"I've only been taking this birth control for about 4 days, which yes, I know is little, but I don't think I can stand another day! I feel nauseous on it and threw up a few times and I slept until 1:30pm today (so I had about 13 hours of sleep, if not more, and I would've kept sleeping if my brother didn't wake me up) I still feel exhausted and can barely walk around without wanting to sit. Hopefully you won't get this experience but I really don't think I can continue on this pill, waiting it out is not worth it for me."

"I was initially prescribed Chateal in August of 2016 and began experiencing intense mood swings after severally months’ use. I am a very emotionally stable person normally, so after journaling the effects and doing some research I decided that this was not normal and stopped taking it. I felt better right away. After starting a new relationship, I started taking Chateal again in October of 2017 hoping that this time it would be different...it wasn’t. About two months in I began feeling depressed and experiencing deep-in-the-pit-of-my-stomach anxiety. I would go from a happy mood to a depressed mood and back again in the matter of minutes, even waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I experienced terrible insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. After reading reviews I am happy to know that I am not as crazy as I feel and that other people have dealt with the same things, so hopefully this review can help someone else!"

"I've been taking Chateal for almost 6 months and it's been pretty great. I've had no complications or side effects. I take it within a two hour frame every morning and my period comes on schedule every month. Other birth control I've taken gave me breakthrough bleeding for 2+ weeks but Chateal keeps me regular."

"I've been on this birth control for about 2 years. My previous prescription made me VERY nauseous, so I was prescribed a less strong pill. Right away it made me very emotional (I am not an emotional person at all but that didn't bother me as much). A few months ago I realized how moody I was acting; I was sad & angry for no reason. So I decided to take a break & request a new prescription, however, I procrastinated for too long & needed the extra protection so I decided to give it another try. It's been maybe 3 months & I don't feel moody, but I get nauseous badly once a week for about 15 minutes & then it goes away but I do think it has a lot to do with starting over. It is very reliable. Contraceptive pills are different for everyone."

"I am going into the second week of taking birth control. I was super stoked for it not going to lie but after all these symptoms |'m having, I'm not so sure anymore. I know everyones body is different but if you are anywhere as near as sensitive as I am, I wouldn't recommend taking it. Within the first week I had woken up with extreme nausea and eventually vomited. With that occurrence I had automatically thought the pill didn't work and I was pregnant, but I did take a test and so far so good. Anyways, I am now starting to get period type symptoms of tender breasts and cramps which those are easy for me to look passed and not worry to much about. However, not too long ago I woke up and felt almost empty, sad and depressed"

"I switched my birth control to chateal reluctantly because my previous birth control was discontinued. I didn't like the switch at all, after two months on it I went to have my pill switched again and my doctor said to give it more time, nothing ever changed. I gained a full cup size in my breast as well as about 10 pounds total. I also had extreme headaches, breast pain, and was virtually emotionless. I just had my pill switched and am starting on Microgestin Fe at the end of the month."

"This birth control is an amateur one for sure. I have been on it for almost 3 months now. I have mood swings, weight gain in hips and thighs ( I'm a professional athlete and have never had weight there), increased appetite, and occasional bleeding. I have had some minor break outs too. I am definitely switching over to a different brand."

"I gave these pills a fair shot. After the first few months I really started to notice extreme mood swings and an overall change in my mood. I was always angry, sad and unhappy. Especially the week before my period, I was just plain psychotic. My cramps got worse on this pill too, they would start up to a week before my period. My periods got longer but also lighter. I gained 30 pounds in a year and my acne got worse after about 6 months. The acne cleared up the first few months though. I also would get nausea and headaches. My sex drive was just fine, no change. Vaginal dryness, yes. It did work though, never had a single pregnancy scare. I just couldn't handle the mood changes and neither could my relationship."

"I'm on my 3rd pack of chateal and I just called my birth control provider to ask them if they could switch me to another pill. It's worked for me the last 3 months that I've been on it but with some side effects. Like really bad nausea, stomach pains, but the one that really bothered me was the acne. I usually have really clear skin and only get acne when I'm about to start my period but ever since I started taking these, I break out like crazy! I expect to see a new pimple right after taking a pill. They're always really bad ones too! Hopefully my next pill is better!"

"Good things first; shorter lighter periods, came at the same time every month, like started and ended the same day of the week, less pain, I get really bad backaches. Now for the bad stuff; discharge, horrible discharge every day.Acne, weight gain, mood changes, like so bad! It ruined my new relationship and turned me into an anxious depressed mess. Like a literal crazy person. Gave it a three cause it's easy to use, I didn't get pregnant, aaaand it made my periods easier. So it did its job, but turned me into a crazy person."

"I was on Chateal for 4 months and I didn't like it. I was always moody and very emotional. I was always feeling depressed and I didn't like that. I'm normally a happy person so when I started feeling this way. I immediately wanted to switch birth control. Only thing I liked about was that I had an appetite and was able to gain weight like I wanted too unlike the other birth controls I've taken. I didn't like being moody all the time so I switched to the depo shot and I've been so much happier."

"I always had really severe period pain and I would throw up. So I started a birth control and it made me feel horrible. I no longer threw up, but it made me severely depressed. I was afraid to try another pill. I started chateal and I didn't gain any weight. I didn't get depressed or break out any more than normal. And I no linger felt pain , I do still get slight nauseous around my period but no where near as bad as before. I have taken this pill a little more than a year and I have not gotten pregnant either. Although I use other precautions as well. My sister is looking for a good birth control and this is the one I've been recommending."

"I'm 18 yrs old and I started taking this after the first time I had sex, overall this proscription has proven to be so accurate but I am very big on taking it every day at almost the exact same time(30 mins off but never more than that) And I did notice when I first got on it my sex drive went down and I had been really moody. Things that wouldn't normally get to me did but not 6 months in everything is getting regular. Very, very effective!"
