"I tried Alesse in the past and liked it but it made me feel extremely tired. I decided to try the generic Aviane so see if I felt different. I'm only on day 11 but I don't feel mentally well, I starting to feel irritated and depressed, im finishing the pack and will stop taking this pill. Our emotional health is much more important."

"I have taken a few different birth controls and had a lot of problems with them (Apri-painful sharp pains during intercourse,cramps). I love Aviane. I do not have cramps ever, period lasts 3-4 days (not heavy), always comes the same day, pain has stopped, no weight gain, no cravings, no mood swings, nothing. I've taken it for over a year. My sex drive has decreased a little but I don't know if it's because of this pill as I don't really recall when my sex drive lessened."

"I’ve been using Aviane for 3 months, and I decided to change the brand. I don’t have any severe side effect, but I noticed I lost my sex drive and didn’t get wet enough since taking this pill. I don’t have any depressed feeling or anxiety, but the problem of sex drive is a big issue for me."

"At 35, I have tried many bc pills out there. I post reviews, good or bad to let people know of possible benefits or side effects. Low dose levonorgestrel has been the best pill for me. Always the least side effects. Inactive ingredients played a part in how each brand affected me as far as spotting or not. I was switched back to this type of pill after 3 weeks straight bleeding on a minipill that only got heavier. This pill slowed a lot of the bleeding, but still have some light spotting. The nurse said once I have that 7 day withdrawal bleed, I shouldn't spot any longer on active pills next month. She most likely is right because any pill I have ever used that has less than 7 placebos or is designed to eventually stop my period, my body retaliates and I get breakthrough bleeding until I switch over to a brand with 7 placebos. Hope this helps any of you ladies having bc pill issues."

"Aviane is an amazing birth control! I have been on this for 5 years, and although it is the first one I’ve tried, it works wonderfully! No acne issues, weight gain, mood changes, and I am not pregnant. I strongly recommend it."

"I really want to switch pills, I was on another pill and I had pleasant results. My pharmacy prescribed me this one because they didn't have the other in stock. It has been awful. My period lasts 3-4 days with no cramping usually. But on Aviane it has lasted 7 days and it's super heavy with cramps. I've been irritable and yelling even about the smallest things. I cry over every little thing that happens to me."

"I was on the Depo Provera shot for 3 years, never getting a period. I decided to switch to pills and got prescribed Aviane. I just started my fourth week, and I have been crazy. Crying almost every day, being a monster girlfriend. Vaginal itching and pain with sex. As soon as I started the fourth week I became very stomach sick, throwing up and diarrhea. Not sure if I should stick it out or go back to the doctors."

"I've been using Aviane for about 3.5 years now. I did notice some major mood swings getting on or off the pill, but after about a month I think my hormones regulated back to normal. Other than that I haven't had any other side effects unless you consider an almost non-existent period a side effect. I still get paranoid when I miss a period but so far so good. This has worked for me."

"I personally was on Aviane for about 8 months. The first 3 months were pretty much flawless. I had a problem with my appetite to begin with, gained some weight and dropped it shortly in the next coming months. Didn't experience any acne or stomach nausea. After three months my period got progressively worse. I had intense cramps and felt down right miserable. My entire body ached. Aside from feeling awful I was miserable to be around. I had mood swings I've never had before. Aviane was driving me crazy on my periods. I felt like a different person. My friends, family and boyfriend could even tell I wasn't myself. Just wanted to put this out there if someone was curious there are other options."

"I have been on Alesse/Aviane for 10 years. It was the first and only birth control pill I have ever used and chose it over others on purpose. I chose it because it is one of the lowest-dose oral contraceptives on the market, and the progesterone they use (levonorgestrel) is very close to the molecular makeup of natural progesterone. The only symptoms I experienced during the first month was breast tenderness and clearer skin (I used to have adolescent acne). I know some individuals have experienced more severe symptoms than I have described. I think it boils down to your own body's hormonal balance."

"Although I only started this medication recently, I wanted to share my experience. I finally made the decision to start the pill because my last period was over two weeks late. After ruling out pregnancy, I discovered that I have a genetic history of ovarian cysts, which are lessened in frequency by birth control. I have also suffered from moderately severe periods, with cramps that made it impossible to go to work or school. I have just completed my first week of Aviane. I have had no nausea and perhaps a slight change in appetite where I eat a little more. What surprised me is that my breasts have grown about a third of a cup size. (This is a pleasant surprise for me, as I am a medium B-cup)."

"I’ve been on Aviane for about 3 years now. I haven’t had any major problems or side effects. I do have a significantly lower sex drive now however. I have PCOS and Aviane really helps me keep all my symptoms of PCOS in check. I now have my period every month exactly on time. Like I said I’ve never really had any trouble with it besides changing the consistency of my blood. During my periods I have a lot more clots then I use to have off the pill. I did read the side effects and this is noted in there and I’ve asked several doctors so it’s not too alarming to me. Other than that the past two months were kind of hard. I had two periods in one month. I do attribute this to taking a supplement called Maca however because after I experience these multiple periods I stopped taking Maca and haven’t had any problems since. So if anything take your pill and stay away from Maca it can disrupt your cycles."

"So I started this BC Aviane because my wedding is coming up (I have never used BC before) and I have been on it for 2 whole packs. The first pack was fine, I felt normal.. Had some nausea the first couple days, but that faded away. HOWEVER, my period was much more painful than normal.. Things changed with the second pack. I had weird acid reflex that would be triggered by everything, then that turned into diarrhea for a couple days and then I started getting spots on my skin and having digestion problems and went to my doctor and she said it was Candida (Yeast overgrowth).. I woke up with panic attacks, passed out one time, had nausea all day for a couple days until I finally stopped taking the pill.. I am very sad this didn't work for me. I am already sensitive to medication, so I am not surprised. This pill could work for you, so don't jot it down before trying it. But if you have any similar symptoms, listen to your body and try something else."

"I have been on Aviane for 3 months now and have had severe mood swings. My boobs grew a half size, but it doesn't make up for the mood swings I've been having. I'm am normally a relaxed person, but Aviane makes me extremely angry. I am going to switch pills as soon as possible."

"After getting off of Ortho-tricylen Lo I switched over to several other generic brands of which my gyno recommended.. all of which had crazy side effects (break through spotting/bleeding, acne, rashes on my face, crazy mood swings). Aviane is the first one that I've had no problems with so far... clear skin, no mood swings. Only minor issue is the small weight gain due to my increase in appetite.. other than that no complaints whatsoever!"

"I was scared with the reviews at first, but I actually love Aviane birth control. I had some side effects when I first started like headache and some mild dizziness, but that went away within the first week. I had some very mild spotting after the headaches and dizziness went away, but that also went away quickly. The previous pill that I was on before this gave me weekly panic attacks that ruined my life. I thought I had panic disorder at some point due to how bad it was, and could barely leave the house. After I switched a month ago, I had no panic attacks ever since. My agoraphobia from that also seemed to go away. Now I'm able to get out of the house a lot more often. My anxiety has greatly reduced, and my resting heart rate is back to normal because of it."

"I really like this birth control. I first got on it when I was experiencing terribly painful cramps that made me throw up. Once I started taking the pill, everything was instantly better. No cramps at all, skin looked great, mood was fine. I was perfectly happy. However, when I was off the pill for a month, the painful cramps came back and I was vomiting. This is the best birth control I've had. I recommend it for everyone."

"I've been on Aviane for about a month now and I haven't had any issues. Before I was on Chateal and I had no sex drive. Then I tried Lutera and it gave me extreme anxiety. Aviane has helped me get my sex drive back without causing me anxiety. I read a lot of great reviews on here about Aviane so I decided to try it. The only issue I have now is light spotting in between periods but I know thats normal when you switch birth controls."

"I had a horrible experience with this pill. I've never had trouble with my weight, but I gained 20lbs once I started taking this. Terrible, uncontrollable acne. Would always have breakthrough bleeding. Ruined my sex drive. My breasts did increase from a C to a D though."

"Love love this pill! This is the first hormonal birth control method I’ve ever tried and it’s been amazing. It’s helped my mood a lot, has been great contraception, has regulated my periods and made them significantly lighter. My skin is also much better. I have gained some weight but I don’t attribute it to the pill - it’s been a stressful few months in my personal life. I don’t think it’s due to the pill because it’s been easy to lose weight as well. Only thing I don’t love about it is that my already oily hair is now a bit greasier, but I’ve found good hair products that make this little problem basically nonenxistent. Overall I really recommend."

"I was on another birth control for over a year and it was fine but it gave me too much depression. I switched to the Aviane and the past two months haven’t been that great. My acne is the worst it has ever been in my life. I had some really bad periods in the beginning. The worst part for me is that the Aviane has caused be to gain ten pounds in two months. I’ve weighed the same weight for the past three years. My mood has improved significantly on this pill but I hate my appearance so much now I don’t know if it’s worth it. I kind of want to quit hormonal birth control altogether now, it’s been a tough experience."

"This pill had no side effects didnt make me break out or get bigger breasts but it did make my cramps 5 times more painful than they normally are. I got 2 periods a month even after being on it for 6 months. I'm giving it a somewhat good review because it did not get me pregnant."

"I’m still on this pill, but every website said that after 2-3 months that the breakthrough bleeding would end, but I’m almost on month 6 and my bleeding just won’t stop! I go at least 2 weeks on my period now and I get so frustrated!!! I ran out of period panties!!!!!!! I’m getting super moody too because of the long periods. I’m on the pill to reduce my previously long periods, but now they’re even worse!!!"

"I took this for 2 months I kept getting yeast infections and my vagina is always irritated and itchy. My anxiety is off the roof with this medication also effects my bowel movements. I don’t think this medication is for me"

"It works well enough to prevent pregnancy, but I hate this pill. I've tried three different brand over the course of two years and this is by far the worst. I normally have anxiety, but this pill makes me constantly stressed. I am constantly frustrated and angry for no reason; it's not mood swings, I'm just so mad all the time. None of these mental health issues appeared before I began taking this pill and honestly I'm going to quit as soon as I'm on a new method."
