"I was in between doctors and was prescribed this. It was horrible. My breasts hurt so bad, and I have been cramping like I'll have a period, but I don't bleed. I was so anxious, moody, and sad for no reason. I switched to Sprintec with a 0.35 mg estrogen in hopes my body will calm down."

"Started January 2025 - I think with any hormonal birth control, you will feel like you are PMS'ing all the time (that's what my PCP told me). I spotted for the first 3 months, and then it stopped for a month. I have some spotting this week as it should have been my period week. Symptoms feel minimal (cramping is little to minimal compared to being off OCP. I used to have pretty bad stabbing cramping in my pelvic floor area). Feels like I can still function and stay active without having to worry about extreme PMS and full-blown menstruation. I'm also taking Adderall XR to manage ADHD and feel like it's been going okay with that. Supplement with 250mg magnesium every day, Costco probiotic, and Kirkland Multivitamin gummy."

"I wanted to come back and review again. It's been almost four whole months on Amethyst. I had bleeding for the first 37 days on it. Headaches and feeling sick as well. By month two, things were evening out, and I went probably three weeks with no bleeding, to occasional spotting. Since then, it's been spotting regularly, and these past few days I've been bleeding very heavily. I think it's time to go back to the doctor. Another issue is acne. I'm breaking out horribly."

"I've taken this for over a year now. I almost quit during the first month. I got it to stop my periods that had gotten to be very heavy along with hormonal changes. But not only did my period stay, I was getting awful, nearly debilitating cramps, like contractions I had to breathe through. Embarrassing when in the middle of a conversation. So I stopped and called my doctor. They said sometimes this happens, they recommend stopping for a week then re-starting. My body needed to adjust. And it did. It worked. I've saved so much money on period products, but now after a year, I'm spotting, I don't know why. It's not a lot, but it's annoying to where I consider wearing a liner. I'm hoping this passes, it's still completely worth it. No periods!!!"

"I'm 32 years old. I had my tubes cut so I would never get pregnant. I was on the Depo shot for 3 months when I was 18, worst decision. I was scared to get back on it after my bisalp surgery. I thought, why have a period if I can't get pregnant? After a lot of research, I stumbled onto this brand so I tried it. With consistent spotting for two weeks at a time, I threw this brand in the trash three times. I then pulled it out of the trash three times, thinking that if I just keep taking it, it'll be worth it. At the 6-month mark, all bleeding completely stopped, all spotting stopped. It has been absolute heaven for me. Best birth control ever to stop my periods. It takes 3 to 6 months for your body to adjust. Apparently, I fell under the six-month mark and couldn't be happier. Through those 6 months of spotting or bleeding, I just used a flex disc during sex, and partners wouldn't even notice while I was adjusting to it."

"On my first pack. Started on day 3 of my period and have been miserable ever since. Nausea, cramping, acne, headaches, and bleeding for 23 days straight. Not spotting, but actual bleeding, and sometimes heavy with big clots. I know it takes time, but at this point, I'd rather deal with a regular period. After 3 weeks, my breasts are extremely tender. Don't know how much longer I'll last on this pill."

"I have horrible headaches with this birth control. I don’t know why. Besides that, everything is fine, but the headaches would last all day, it was horrible. Anyone else?"

"I switched to Amethyst about a month ago, and I couldn't be happier! I was taking Errin, norethindrone. I bled the entire 2 months of it. First pill of Amethyst, no bleeding since!"

"I had my tubes tied about 5 years ago and only started Amethyst to stop my periods. I knew that it would take my body several months to adjust to the pill, so I started taking it in November with hopes of being period-free by my 20th anniversary trip in late January. I have only been taking it for 3 weeks, but I have been bleeding very heavily the entire time! This is way more than my normal periods and definitely beyond spotting or 'breakthrough' bleeding. I’m soaking about 10 overnight pads per day. Forget about tampons, as there isn’t one that could handle this. I get gushes of blood every time I stand up and 3-4 jumbo clots every time I go to the bathroom. I have ruined several pairs of pants and a set of sheets. I have to sleep on a towel to protect my bedding. I am usually awakened by heavy flow at some point during the night. This is truly a nightmare! I can’t believe I still have blood left in my body. I was already anemic, so this isn’t helping."
