For Birth Control "My insurance provider now covers this versus the NuvaRing that I have used for 11 years. NEVER a problem with the original, but this generic is worse than a menstrual cycle. I have had cramping, bloating, painful breasts, discharge, headaches, migraine, body aches, and nausea since I started this. So disappointing, it has caused issues I didn’t even have with a cycle. I am 46 and now trying to figure out how I can budget $75 a month for the brand. This is awful."

For Birth Control "I was on Nuvaring for 8+ years and never had a problem, then was forced to switch to the generic because of my insurance. Within the first couple of days of having it in, I started having intense back pain and was so nauseous I could barely go for a walk outside. I finally took it out and got better, but now I'm off birth control and having problems with my moods and cramping. Really sucks that the FDA approved this generic that clearly is dangerous, and now I can't afford something that was working great for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on NuvaRing since 2007 and have never had any issues. I was given EluRyng in September of 2020. It has been a horrible experience! I have bled 14 days straight. I also experienced fatigue, headaches, and nausea. I’ve also experienced mental changes. I’ve been unhappy and depressed. I am usually the happiest person in the world. My NP suggested I stay on it for 3 weeks for my body to adjust. I told her that I would never use it again! Worst birth control ever!"

For Birth Control "I have never had such a horrible experience on birth control in my life! The EluRyng made my anxiety go through the roof, extreme nausea, irritable mood swings, my resting heart rate was around 110 bpm, and I started having suicidal thoughts. I thought it was just my anxiety getting worse, but after getting desperate to feel half normal again, I started doing research and realized it was the EluRyng (I don’t take any other medications). This stuff is scary and needs to be recalled ASAP!"

For Birth Control "Terrible. I was on Nuvaring for about ten years on and off, and it was perfect: light periods, barely there, and zero side effects. Because of my insurance, I was switched to EluRyng, and it went downhill from there: heavy periods, never consistent, super irregular, always spotting. Haven’t stopped bleeding in over a month. I've been on it for about four months now. I’ve been nauseous, with cramps and lots of headaches! Not impressed and figuring out ways to afford Nuvaring again!"

For Birth Control "I was using NuvaRing for approximately a year when I was switched to EluRyng. I thought nothing of it, as generics are usually the same product with different labeling. A month later, I thought I was pregnant. I could not find the energy to do daily tasks, and my controlled depression became difficult to handle again. My breasts felt sore, I felt nauseous, and I got headaches easier than usual. And my period was way off. Two at-home pregnancy tests came back negative. But all of these symptoms weren't leaving, and I now have full-blown migraines every other day. Then I realized the only thing in my routine that changed is EluRyng. I started researching and found that all of my symptoms are side effects of EluRyng. I will be discussing this with my physician. This product gets a 1/10 for me because I didn't get pregnant, but with all the symptoms I experienced, I may as well have been."

For Birth Control "Where do I start? I started this medication on July 25, 2020, and ended it on August 4th. I am going back to pills unless I can get my hands on the name brand. First of all, the nausea. The prolonging of my period after I inserted it. Then, on day four, I was rushed to the ER because my leg started going numb out of nowhere. I began questioning a lot of things I was doing in life, including a new relationship and graduate school. My depression worsened, and my anxiety shot through the roof. I am never taking this again. I'm not even sure why this is on the market! Check if your insurance covers the NuvaRing before deciding to go on this one. I took it out because I began having chest pains out of nowhere, and it mimicked having a blood clot in my chest. No."

For Birth Control "I got EluRyng as a substitute for my usual NuvaRing because my pharmacy didn’t have any name-brand. Honestly, so much worse than NuvaRing. I thought they would be somewhat comparable, but EluRyng gave me acne, I was always feeling nauseous, got really bad mood swings, and always had to take it out during sex. Instead of being flexible like NuvaRing, this ring is hard and hurts a lot during sex! I do not recommend unless this is your last resort. Other than the side effects, though, it seems to be as effective as the NuvaRing."

For Birth Control "This was the absolute worst! I was on it for 2 weeks and could not fathom the idea of dealing with the side effects any longer than that! I felt sick, had a headache, felt constantly on edge, my stomach was upset, nauseated, bloated, and my breasts were swollen. It interrupted my entire day! I took it upon myself to pay out of pocket for NuvaRing, and I have no regrets about that decision. What’s awful is that all the medication coupons online are only for EluRyng! How can you force a medication on women that is making them feel so incredibly ill?"

For Birth Control "I have been on Nuvaring for 10+ years. Never any issues. I was switched to the generic (EluRyng), and I have had nothing but issues. Bloating is my #1 complaint but also constipation, mood swings, nausea. At one point, I thought I was pregnant. I will pay full price for Nuvaring if that's what it comes down to. My body can't handle EluRyng!!"

For Birth Control "Honestly, I feel like I got lucky. Maybe it has something to do with me having no prior experience with the NuvaRing. This is my first birth control method, and I'm using the generic. So far, I have only experienced some mild nausea and mood swings, both of which are tolerable. After the first month, my period came in right when I expected it, and there was no spotting at all before the period whatsoever. I can't be too mad, granted it cost me nothing, and it works. But I'm sorry to hear about other women's negative experiences with the NR generic."

For Birth Control "Awful product. My side effects included: yeast infection, vaginal irritation, painful heavy bleeding (6 weeks), acne on my jawline and ears, anxiety/panic attacks, nausea/vomiting, extreme breast tenderness, insomnia, insane mood swings, self-harm, and depression so severe I almost had to check into inpatient psych care. My relationship almost ended because I went fully nuts. I didn't experience a single positive emotion the entire time I was on this BC. The FDA should take this off the market. DON'T put this in your body."

For Birth Control "After reading these comments, I feel justified. I’ve been feeling the absolute worst for the last 2 months without any obvious cause. I’ve spoken to my doctor about this mystery illness, gotten bloodwork done, all to no avail. After my insurance switched me to EluRyng from NuvaRing 2 months ago without telling me, I have literally wondered why I feel so bad. I have had a constant-and I do mean constant-headache every single day. I’ve had bouts of nausea and vomiting. I’ve lost 5 lbs this month. I’ve never been so fatigued in my life. My anxiety, which has been under control, has been off the charts, and I’m snapping at people for no reason. I’ve had absolutely no sex drive, which is unusual. And we hate to say it-but we shouldn’t-suicidal thoughts. This is the worst “medication” out there. And I really hope you read this BEFORE you also experience these symptoms and find yourself on Google because you think you’re wondering how to keep living."

For Birth Control "I have used a lot of different birth controls in my 23 years of life, and I was on NuvaRing on and off the longest, and I loved it. I had no problems except my libido was a bit less, but I had extremely bad periods before it and would be out of school or work that whole week. Other birth controls make me feel like I have morning sickness, but this EluRyng has been the worst. I had it in for less than 24 hours, and I have never felt so sick in my life. It woke me up, I felt like I was either going to poop myself or vomit all over the bathroom. As soon as I took it out, I started feeling better. Never using that again."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control EVER!! I was on the NuvaRing for years and have had no problems, I loved it! This thing is crap. I’m constantly spotting. My periods were super regular and always lasted 4 days. Now I will be on my period for weeks, then I spot randomly when I’m not. It’s sometimes painful to have sex. I have legit had such bad anxiety and depression! One night I broke down and told my husband I was suicidal!! Horrible headaches, feeling nauseous and tired all the time. I have thought multiple times I’m prego because of the side effects I was having. HORRIBLE birth control, I would rather use condoms than deal with this rubbish. Do NOT use this. It honestly should be recalled."

For Birth Control "I had the worst reaction to EluRyng. It caused really bad nausea and headaches, but I figured it was just my hormones adjusting themselves. That was until my vagina completely swelled up, it was throbbing, I was getting shooting pains, and it was bright red. It was incredibly painful, and it began two weeks after taking it. I recently stopped, and now I feel so much better. Don't recommend whatsoever."

For Birth Control "This is my third week on EluRyng, and it’s horrible. I have used the brand name NuvaRing and a different generic and have never had side effects like these. On this generic, I have experienced near-constant anxiety, itchiness on my arms and legs, nausea, and bowel problems. I didn’t connect the itchiness to the ring until I read other posts. I feel like I am going to have a panic attack at least once a day and have cried at minor things (like not wanting to cook chicken for dinner one night). It’s also fallen out a few times, which rarely ever happened with the other two. I have been using a lot of deep breathing and grounding exercises to combat the anxious feelings. No one should have to tolerate these side effects. I have three more days left on this ring and then will never be using it again."

For Birth Control "I avoided this for too long due to reviews here, but I don't want to pay $$$ for Nuvaring, and Annovera gave me two-week periods, so I gave EluRyng a shot. It has been an amazing, easy experience. Super light, regular periods and no PMS or nausea (which Nuvaring gave me). I recommend giving it a try, despite the scary reviews, since everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I would not recommend this to anyone. Like many other reviewers, I was on the NuvaRing and had no issue. Honestly, it was the ideal birth control. My insurance no longer can cover NuvaRing, and I was given this generic brand. I am never one to look down on generic brands (food, cleaning products, etc.), so I didn’t mind. However, 1.5 years later, I wish I would’ve taken the change seriously. I have gained so much weight. I don’t even look the same, I went from a size 4/6 to a size 10/12. On top of that, during my time with the birth control, I was so anxious to the point of nausea. Before any social event, I needed to drink so much to calm down. I was just an anxious mess! I decided to get off this terrible birth control at the end of July (about 4 months ago). I feel mentally better and I can actually go places without being drunk! I am working out and finally seeing results! I went from 215 to 193 - I have a lot more to go, but this is progress! I wouldn’t recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I do not understand how this drug is on the market. It's a shame that health insurance companies feel they have the medical prowess to change medications that have such a negative impact on women's lives, and it seems like it's on a very large scale. And the fact that we live in a world where men can't even handle a birth control study based on these types of symptoms saddens me. Something needs to be done because this simply is not okay! I am currently battling with health insurance to get the name brand after 9 horrible months on generic without knowledge of them changing it. I had severe depression, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, irregular periods, shedding hair, loss of appetite... I could go on, and I went to so many doctors trying to figure out why this was happening. If you recently changed to generic, stop taking it right away! I hope to feel better soon once I change back to name brand soon."

For Birth Control "I used this for one month after I was told my insurance didn't cover the name brand. These past few weeks have been terrifying for me. I have never had any issues with anxiety or depression, but these past few weeks I've thought I was going to die probably four times. My heart would start racing, blood pressure through the roof, dizzy, nausea, morbid thoughts, etc. I was in the ER this morning after waking up in a full-on panic attack. This is the only change in my life recently, and I am fully convinced this is the cause. I will never put this poison in my body again. Please be careful if you use this!!"

For Birth Control "I was on NuvaRing several years ago before trying an IUD due to minimal side effects. I recently had my IUD removed and wanted to go back on NuvaRing but received EluRyng instead. I am experiencing awful side effects - mood swings, fatigue, nausea, weight gain, headaches. I don’t ever remember feeling this way on NuvaRing, but I will be going back on it."

For Birth Control "I was previously on NuvaRing with no issues. I was switched to EluRyng and used it for 1.5 months. Those 1.5 months were absolutely horrible. Within days of switching to EluRyng, I noticed major changes to my mental health. I have never felt so emotionally unstable in my life. I was experiencing constant and intense mood swings, increased anxiety, and depression. Emotional regulation became incredibly difficult. I also noticed my ADHD symptoms were exacerbated too, despite staying on the same dosage of medication (Vyvanse). Some other side effects I had were headaches, nausea, random hot flashes, and cramps. This birth control is awful. The good news is you can go back to being on NuvaRing! Tell your doctor your symptoms and request that they file with insurance to be prescribed NuvaRing again. I have Medicaid, and it took my doctor advocating for me and sharing my symptoms, but I am back on NuvaRing, and it is covered by my insurance again!"

For Birth Control "I actually had an okay experience with EluRyng. I have been on it for 18 months. I am getting off it next month to try Slynd, a minipill, just because the risk of stroke with combo methods spooks me a bit. It was the first birth control I had ever been on, and I only use it for pregnancy prevention. It has made my previously heavy and painful periods very light and short, and the cramping is very mild. It also cleared the cystic back acne I had. As for side effects, I have put on some weight, and I’d say I am more irritable nowadays, but it’s manageable. I actually got NuvaRing (the name brand) this month because my pharmacy didn't have the generic, and my acne came back immediately. I also am very moody and sad sometimes, and my stomach is so sensitive, I have a lot of nausea. So I think I actually did better on EluRyng than the name brand!"

For Birth Control "My month on EluRyng has been one of the worst of my life. Week 1: nausea/vomiting, fatigue, burning/irritation, and yeast infection. Week 2: severe anxiety and mood swings -- sobbing out of nowhere, massive unprompted panic attacks, and starting crazy fights with my partner. Week 3: severe, acute depression and constant really dark thoughts. Completely numb, crying 24/7, couldn't decide if life was worth living. Week 4: all of my other symptoms disappeared overnight as soon as the withdrawal/off week started. I started feeling back to normal within a day or two, so now I'm absolutely sure that my wild emotional symptoms were entirely caused by the ring. I would not recommend the generic to anyone. My mental health deteriorated shockingly fast and I've never feared for my safety the way I did during the third week. Given other people's similar experiences, I'm counting down the days until EluRyng is recalled so no one else has to go through this."
