For Postmenopausal Symptoms "Mylan brand estradiol patches are horrible. I had a severe reaction: 17 hives, couldn't breathe, lethargic. I was started on Vivelle Dot over 5 years ago. We are forced to pay 450 a month, and I'm disabled! I cannot pay close to that! Most pharmacies are pushing Mylan! I contacted the FDA."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "This is really a great product for hot flashes and brain fog relief! I am currently using this in addition to taking Prometrium generic, which is real Progesterone and it stopped the nighttime sweating but wasn't complete relief. The estrogen was really needed to feel like me. It was prescribed to help with osteoporosis after having had hyperparathyroidism & surgery to correct that. I won't know the bone effects of the patch until next Dexa scan, but the physical relief is worth it alone. I've never used Vivelle Dot, started on Mylan & Loved it from the 1st week, then pharmacies in my area all switched to Sandoz which doesn't seem to prevent hot flashes completely & I'm getting headaches. I have dry skin so both patches stay on ok, though Mylan was a little better. I've called everywhere to find out how to get my Mylan back. Interesting to me that different people have such varied results, but medicine treats individuals using science based on numbers and we're each a little different."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have used the Estradiol patch for one month. I was hesitant, given the reviews that the patch falls off. Mine sticks on great. I exercise, shower, and bathe with no issues. My symptoms have greatly improved. I use the Mylan generic."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was prescribed the mylar estradiol patches 0.5 mg twice weekly. I've had no issues with adherence, except 1 patch, and that was user error. It definitely improved my symptoms of night sweats and vaginal dryness. I'm also taking 200 mg of progesterone to combat insomnia. I had an ovary-sparing total hysterectomy in January this year and noticed an increase in symptoms. Labs show ovaries still working, but levels up and down, consistent with perimenopause at 45 years old. Don't suffer needlessly, there's help!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "The Mylan estradiol patch must have been invented by a man. As others have commented, they are huge and do not adequately adhere. I have never had this problem before with the other brands I have used, unfortunately, I can't remember the other brands."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "The Estradiol medication itself is fine; the patch is not. They regularly become unstuck in the first day or two, especially if I am swimming regularly. Then if they do stay on, I get a rash with every 3rd or 4th one that makes my skin look burned."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I am 56 years old, had no energy, gained a lot of weight, woke up sweating at night. Felt terrible. It took me 5 doctors, but the last one said it was obviously estrogen deficiency. I have been taking the Mylan 0.05 mg transdermal patch, and I feel reborn. I have energy. I'm not hot. I feel great. Only problem is the patches don't stay on. It may force me to change brands or something. They did stay on the first month when the temperatures were cooler, but now that it is warmer and I am sweating, they are falling off. Plus, I exercise a lot, which I am sure is contributing to this."

For Primary Ovarian Failure "Last month, Walmart Pharmacy replaced my estradiol patch with the 'Mylan' manufacturer. I was shocked to see how big this patch is, it's bigger than the mouth of a colostomy bag, as thick as a regular cotton round, and it's not sticky enough to stay for days. I shower twice a day, the patch is off after two showers. Technically, I have to change my patch every day. The worst part is aside from the rashes I have now on my pelvic area because of this patch, I'm having hot flashes. It's not effective at all. I cannot do anything since my insurance already paid for three months of refill. And since I have to replace the patch every day, I have already run out of it. Now, I have to endure more 'hot flashes' for two more months. This is the worst patch I've used since my hysterectomy. Well, thank you 'Mylan' for making my life miserable for three months. I will rate negative on the effectiveness if it's available in the choices."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I loved my Alvagen estradiol patch. It helped with intense hot flashes, and that's why I started HRT mostly. Earlier this year, I was informed Alvagen was discontinued. I was prescribed the Mylan brand of estradiol patch. Aside from the ugly foam Band-Aid look, this product does not work! I just tossed and turned and woke up drenched in sweat. I am removing the patch, and I'm going cold turkey without until I can find a decent replacement. This patch is like having no estrogen patch on at all!"

For Oophorectomy "I cannot believe how terrible this patch is. I was on the 0.05 mg Estradiol Transdermal System by Noven, which was incredibly helpful after the removal of my ovaries at age 31. It eased some of the depression, anxiety, and complete lack of energy. My insurance changed, and instead of being filled at CVS, now I have to go to Walgreens, and this is the new patch. I've been on it 3 days and feeling crazy. It's a large, awkward foam patch that flapped off on the second day. The hot flashes all night are back, digestion issues, crying all day, and the emotional volatility. I'm relieved I found that I am not alone and will be attempting to switch to any other brand."

For Oophorectomy "I’d been using the estradiol patch (generic for Climara), I think, after reading these comments, for years, but my pharmacy said they stopped carrying it. They didn’t tell me it was discontinued! WHY? It was small, transparent, practically invisible. The Mylan patches I get are white, huge, thick, itchy, and unacceptable! Does any generic drug company make a small transparent patch? I’ve asked pharmacists, and they don’t seem to know."

For Oophorectomy "This review focuses mainly on the Mylan brand weekly patches as a generic for Climara. They are awful. Cons: They don't stick. They don't deliver a consistent dose of estrogen. They don't appear to deliver the advertised level of estrogen. They are huge. They are thick foam. They are stiff foam. They show underneath your clothes. Pros: They seem to be the only available patch in my local market, possibly due to a surplus because they suck and nobody will voluntarily buy them if given a choice, so they are easy to find. I have been on Vivelle Dot for 10 years with no issues, but switched to a weekly patch for a smoother delivery. I used the Alvogen brand generic for 2 years with no problems but was switched to Mylan 12/2018. My first patch fell off in 24 hours. My second patch stuck, but I was experiencing non-stop hot flashes. I decided they sucked and drove 45 minutes to the nearest pharmacy that still had a box of Alvogen brand. My symptoms stopped within an hour."

For Oophorectomy "My new doctor switched me to this massive thick sponge from Depo Estradiol that I had been using successfully for years. I now have constant asthma and horrible hot flashes, can't sleep, and am exhausted all the time. I took it off last night, and lo and behold, for the first time in a month, I woke up without asthma! The Depo never gave me asthma. As an aside, when I opened the first one, I honestly could not believe what I was seeing. It is ridiculous. Thick, huge, ugly. It really is the dumbest, cheapest hunk of garbage out there. Mylan, you can do better!!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "This is for all my women friends out there, suffering through hot flashes and menopausal symptoms. Firstly, I'm an avid runner and always thought running would get me through everything in life, including unremitting hot flashes over a period of ten (yes, 10!!!) years. Well, it didn't, and I'm here to say that there is relief out there in the form of the Estradiol patch. I finally reached my limit after 10 years. My doctor prescribed it to me about 6 months ago, and I didn't experience any relief until my dosage was increased to 0.0375 mg/day. For the first time in a decade, my hot flashes have subsided...as in GONE!!! I'm able to wear sweaters again and dress like a normal person, and I'm no longer turning the heat down or putting the car windows down in the middle of winter. My family is almost as relieved as I am. The patches are easy to apply and stay on with the help of a Tegaderm waterproof patch, which lasts an entire week for me, even through hot showers."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was switched from the Sandoz Estradiol Patch to Mylan Estradiol Patch by my insurance company. Sandoz was working fine, Mylan doesn't work well at all. I'm awake half the night with hot flashes and night sweats. This is crazy. Also, sticking problems as others have said. I will be begging my GYN for something different!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I used the Vivelle Dot in the past with no issues of adherence. I was prescribed the Mylan Estradiol patch once weekly, and it fell off in one day. It was the most useless delivery system developed, and it was a waste of money for those of us with poor medical benefits."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I had been using Mylan Estradiol patches for a year and a half. No problems. My pharmacy changed to Estradiol made by Grove Pharmaceuticals, what a mess. Within a week, HOT FLASHES all night long and no sleep. They don't stick. I found a pharmacy that carries Mylan Estradiol patches, and after two days of wearing the patches, I got my first good night's sleep without HOT FLASHES at night."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "No problems with Climara .01 mg weekly patch, cut in thirds, so I pay less and it lasts longer. Remarkable improvements in stabilizing my mood. Have used it for over a decade. I tried a Climara Pro Combi-Patch, had severe mood swings. I tried the Mylan generic estradiol patch substitute for Climara, and it fell off after 2-3 days. Label says 'don't get it wet.' -- are people not supposed to shower? Terrible company, they are the ones who hiked the price on the EpiPen. I swim, the only way to keep the Mylan patch on was to put an adhesive bandage/tape over the entire thing. It does not have adhesive over the entire surface, only in a ring around the edge. (I bet Climara has a patent on the adhesive system; estradiol is a cheap natural hormone, so the profits are derived from the 'delivery system.') I have to go through HOURS of time on the phone with my insurance to get this approved every time."

For Oophorectomy "Was on pills from 2002 to 2009 when I had a gallbladder removed - suspected the estrogen pills were involved. Switched to a patch - Vivelle 2/week and did fine until insurance pulled me off in 2018 mid-year - switched to Mylan - which do not work. Went back on Vivelle and all was fine until my insurance again refused and it is costing me $400+/month, so had to go back on Mylan. Started Sunday, and by Tuesday having hot flashes and put on a new patch Thursday (Sun/Th schedule), and by afternoon hot flashes were in full force. Mylan does not work."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was on the Vivelle Dot 0.75 for years. There was a mix-up at the pharmacy, and I was switched to the Mylan brand of estradiol patches. Unbeknownst to me, switching patches can cause bleeding in some people. I had bleeding and had to have an ultrasound to make sure I was okay, which I was. The Mylan 0.075 was perfect after the transition time. Now I am on 0.50, and it is working great. It sticks well, and I have never noticed a smell. I only worry that this generic could change and I'd have another scary transition."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "The twice weekly small patches work great for me. The once-weekly suck! They are huge and come off. If you bathe, forget it! It comes off; the insert even says that it may come off during bathing. Don’t bother getting once weekly; I've gone through a month's supply in 10 days."

For Oophorectomy "My insurance only covers the generic patches. The first 2 months of use were fine. Then I noticed the patch started to peel up at the corners and the hot flashes were trying to come back. I contacted Mylan since I was due to refill my script. They told me to try the box with the same lot number as before, and if I experienced the same issues, to let them know. I contacted Mylan, Mylan contacted the pharmacy, and Walgreen told the Mylan rep that they already swapped the lot out for me, which they didn't. I called and talked to the pharmacist, and this issue had happened to multiple customers. But the pharmacist should have verified the patient the box was swapped out for, as it was not me. Today I get a letter from Mylan pretty much stating thanks for letting us know, but we don't have a problem. I will not get another refill of Mylan nor ever use another Mylan product. Mylan worked until they didn't, and if you let them know it doesn't, it's you and not their product because they do quality checks."

For Oophorectomy "I have been on an Estradiol Patch for 19 years since I had a full hysterectomy and ovaries removed. I have other issues that warrant me to continue to stay on the patch for now. I was lucky the last few years to use the Estradiol Transdermal System 0.05 mg patch from Alvogen filled by CVS Pharmacy. Unfortunately, my insurance has changed and I have to use Walgreens now. They are filling my prescription with the Estradiol Transdermal System 0.05 mg patch by Mylan. Mylan is the worst! With 19 years of experience, it falls off ALL THE TIME! In hot weather, after a shower, just because. I am going to try to find a pharmacy in my network that does not use Mylan brand and see if I can get back to use Alvogen's brand. Alvogen is the best by far. The Mylan brand should be off the market, it is the WORST!"

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "100 mg patch Estradot applied twice weekly. Keeps me sane and virtually anxiety-free. The adhesive on this brand doesn't make welts on my skin. Only drawback is removing the glue spots. :-) When using hot spas or I need to apply creams to dry skin, I use an Estrogel sachet. This allows the freshly applied patch to catch up. Absolutely satisfied and happy with this medication. ** on PBS in Australia. Lowest dose venlafaxine added when family drama hit me like a bolt."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have used estrogen patches for 25 years, the Climara brand and then much less expensive ones from the UK -- same company, different name. At one time, I tried to save money with generic. The only thing available was Mylan. They are horrible; worse than horrible -- and they stink to high heaven. Gross. I don't care how less expensive they are; they are awful. I found a place that had a couple of boxes of Alvogen left and got them; but now I don't know what I'm going to do about getting the medication I need. Here are two things I do regarding usage. My skin won't hold the patch on; I use a clear Tegaderm over it. To avoid a rash, I wait about 15 seconds between removing the liner and applying the patch. If there is a bit of a rash, I use some aloe or no fragrance moisturizing cream upon removal. Good luck to us all."
