"I'm a 41-year-old woman who went into early menopause two years ago. Vaginal dryness and all the other wonderful symptoms of menopause are not something that I would like to deal with at my age, but sometimes we can't control. So, my doctor prescribed Estrace, and I use 1mg 2x a week. I was told that it would take about 6-8 weeks before seeing a difference. At the end of that time frame, I saw only a slight difference in vaginal dryness but many side effects. I had headaches, dizziness, bloating, and calf pain."

"Used as directed and not sure it did much, truthfully. I have been having bioidentical estrogen and testosterone implants, and that does seem to be very effective. Also, an OTC product called Luvena (Restorative Vaginal Moisturizer, pH balanced) is super effective and doesn't cause the stinging and breakthrough bleeding of Estrace. Luvena is significantly cheaper than the insanely overpriced Estrace ($300 or a $72 co-pay). Really, Estrace should cost about $15 and not the criminally high price it is. Bottom line: Not a fan of Estrace and certainly not worth the $72 co-pay for stinging and bleeding for me at ten years post-menopause."

"I’ve only been on Estrace for a week, my symptoms? Hot flashes day and night, mood swings, I’d go up to the bedrooms and feel my heart palpitating, low energy, have a hard time getting up in the morning, no interest in anything. This cream is heaven-sent, I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks, have faith that it can only get better. I feel like a human being. I was honestly feeling like I was losing who I am. I’ll keep you guys posted..."

"Side effects of breakthrough bleeding and little relief from thin tissue do not warrant the cost. If over $300 with a co-pay of $75. This is price gouging for a cream that should cost no more than $20 at the very most -- and I'm being generous. Overpriced meds are out of control. I won't bother using Estrace anymore."

"My doctor gave me this cream for my vaginal dryness and pain and burning when I urinate. I'm 47 years old. I haven't had my period since this January and started with the terrible dry vagina symptoms. I just started using the cream, so far I haven't noticed any bad side effects yet, and I hope I won't have any. I noticed that the burning sensation is less when I urinate. This morning when I woke up, I feel my vagina less dry, but halfway through the day the dryness came back. I hope that the more time I use the cream, the symptoms of dry vagina will go away completely. I have avoided having sex with my husband because I'm afraid it's going to hurt more. I'm very motivated after reading the reviews I read before, and maybe I can return to enjoy sex again."

"Extraordinarily overpriced since it is plant-based, which means it is probably just soy. Even with my Medicare drug insurance, it was going to be over $200. I called a pharmacy where I used to get my compounded hormones - $27 plus shipping. I suggest you do too."

"Painful sex for a year and a half. Was at my wits' end, finally went to the doctor and described severe pain and dryness not relieved. She prescribed this cream. Miracle drug! No more pain, dryness improving. My husband and I are thrilled! Go on their website for a coupon. Almost 300 bucks, but I only had to pay $25.00."

"This past February, I literally thought my insides were being ripped out. I expected to see them lying on the floor after sex one Monday afternoon. I was throbbing and hurting the rest of the evening and into the morning. The next day, I called my GYN and begged to be seen. She diagnosed me with this and several rips. She gave me an Estrace cream sample and a prescription along with one for the rips. I do not have medical insurance. I healed the rips with coconut oil and started the cream, 1 oz, 2 times a week. She says it is not absorbed. Well, all I know is that my hot flashes have lessened, sex is not painful, and if I don't use it like I'm supposed to, all that changes! I'm blessed to have friends in the medical field that can keep me supplied with samples."

"Doc gave me samples of Estrace cream 2 weeks ago. I use 2x per week for dryness and help restore thinning vaginal lining (prolapse problems). Noticed right away more hair loss the day after I use it. I was told this would not affect me in any way and only work locally in the vagina. I can't afford to lose more hair. I'm going to watch it and try a couple more times and if I notice hair loss continues, I'll stop. I also use an all-natural menopause cream (just started last month) has estrogen and progesterone from all-natural sources. It seemed to be helping hair loss and all-around symptoms. My first time on hormone treatment after my total hysterectomy seven years ago."

"I'm 57 and have been using Estrace cream sporadically for about a year. I've found the drug component to be pretty effective, but I just hate that greasy goop it's put in. It seems to leave a trail for days as it leaks out. I would prefer something that absorbs better."

"I have been using Estrace vaginal cream for 8 weeks now, about 2x a week, and it has helped my vaginal dryness and prolapse, but I am experiencing side effects: anxiety, bleeding gums, joint and muscle pain, problems with sleep. I don't like this. I am going to look for a more natural estrogen."

"I have suffered with endometriosis since I was 16 years of age. Needless to say, they did a full hysterectomy at 34 years of age, and I still suffered painful sex after having my hormone shots each month. I was still having pain. My doctor prescribed this cream, and so far, so good. Hopefully, it continues to help me. This is embarrassing to women, especially at this age."

"I tried 1 gram of Estrace 4 days in a row. I had extreme dryness prior to taking it. It corrected that, however, I experienced itching, burning, and several trips to the bathroom at night to urinate. I am through with it!"

"I have been using 1 mg every night for 12 days and am not sure if I can tolerate my side effect symptoms much longer to see if the cream actually works to diminish extremely painful intercourse due to dryness. I now have very tender breasts, a constant mild headache, and swelling, tenderness, and dryness of the external genitalia almost since the first day that I started using the cream. The only good effect so far is that my libido does seem to be heightened. So now I feel 'sexy' again but can't do anything about it because of all my discomfort! I plan on continuing to use the cream at every third day intervals for 2 more weeks to see if my side effects subside. If I am still miserable, I will stop the medication and look for a non-prescription vaginal moisturizer as my last hope for a continued sex life."

"USE IT OR LOSE IT. Was prescribed Estrace cream for dryness & painful sex. Once a day for 2 weeks, then twice a week. 10 days and dramatic improvement. Here is the deal: waiting for 2 weeks before attempting sex. After 5 days, I was able to do it with no problem. Not really enjoyable, but not painful at all. Best time was first in the morning for a couple of minutes. But if morning is not an option, then a couple of minutes at night. But before inserting the cream so you don't accidentally take it all out."

"It's just okay with decreasing dryness. I still need to use other over-the-counter lubricants, but this cream has brought back my sex drive! It stimulates my girl libido big time! So for that, I love this product!"

"Have been on this for four weeks. First two weeks, 1 gram daily, then twice per week. Just a few days after starting, breasts felt full and tender, like I was breastfeeding, gained up to 4 lbs. Did the trick for relations with husband. I'll be deciding if it's worth it (physical effects and possible cancer of uterus) when I go back for a follow-up visit this week."

"I started using Estrace two years ago after major perimenopause symptoms. Around this time, my periods stopped, and I did find quite a bit of relief from vaginal and urethral pain and dryness, as well as frequent urination and burning. Have gotten along fairly well with several short flare-ups until recently when I have had a return of my symptoms even though I am still using the Estrace. Any suggestions or experience with this?"

"Someone replied to my first response that I need to wait 6 months. Well, it's been way over 2 years now, and I am still tearing and having that stinging feeling. I use 100% organic coconut oil for a lube, as my OBGYN said to try that too. I have no side effects from the coconut oil. I used both, and then after 'enduring' sex, I was left with a couple of tears that were bleeding and stinging. I am going to call her back and tell her I need extra strength. Even after the 1 mg amount, bathing the walls of my vagina, it's still not enough. I am only 55 and did not think this was going to be the end of me. My husband is 13 years older than me, and I am the one that has to turn him away because I am not healed enough to try again."

"Started this just 3 days ago and already starting to feel better. I went from having 5 hot flashes a day and waking up at night to sleeping without interruption and only 1 hot flash today. I’m sure it will get better! So very happy I spoke to my doctor about this. P.S. I also have more energy, not sure if it’s the medication, but I’ll take it!"

"I started taking Mimvy for severe hot flashes, and it helped right away. About 2 years later, I started feeling stinging after sex when I peed. I am 54 in menopause. It did not get better using the Vag Fem pill, so I called back once the dose was almost out. I was then prescribed Estrace, and I have been using it for about 3 weeks. We finally had sex, and it was a tiny bit better, but I felt like 'the walls' are as thin as a balloon. Really painful throbbing afterwards. Does it take a certain amount of time to achieve the best result? My OBGYN never said anything about any 'length of time'. Overall, I am about 20% better."

"I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago and having a dryness problem, so the doctor prescribed this. After using this for about 6 weeks, I started cramping like I was beginning to start my period again, and my breasts were hurting so bad, just like the old days! I called my doctor and was taken off of it immediately due to previous breast cancer, and she said the estrogen from it gets into the bloodstream."

"I have been using the generic brand Estrace, 1g twice a week for three and a half years to alleviate the symptoms of vaginal atrophy caused by menopause, including dryness, burning, and itching. Initially, sex was comfortable until my husband's low testosterone and low libido issues caused a significant decrease in our sexual activity. As a result, my vagina has narrowed and shortened due to lack of use, causing painful intercourse, despite continuing the use of Estrace. I plan to increase my Estrace dosage for a few weeks to address these changes and improve the discomfort during sex. It is ironic that my husband's low libido has led to my discomfort, which now irritates him. Technically, it is his fault that we did not engage in sexual activity regularly, leading to these issues."

"My doctor prescribed a low dosage of Estrace Cream twice a week for frequent UTIs. Right off, I got severe itching but gave it time to go away, then got breast tenderness and pelvic pain. Been on it for almost 3 months. I haven't had a UTI, however, what side effects I have-not to mention the cost. Going to quit using it. I will figure a way to control the UTIs. Not worth dealing with the side effects."

"I'm only giving Estrace Cream a 3 rating on the scale due to there being issues with the product. I have been using this product for a couple of years. It did help until the last few months. I went from using it 2-3 times a week to needing it every other day. My frustration comes from the amount that is actually in the tube. It says there are 42.5 grams in the tube, I always keep track of the amount in the tube and end up with about 24 grams out of the tube in the end. Has anyone else kept track of this? Also, I can't afford it, when I went yesterday to pick up a new tube, they wanted $290 for 1 tube?! Why would it be this expensive? That was even after my insurance paid a portion."
