For Migraine Prevention "I am so sad I didn’t read these reviews before taking my 2nd shot. After the first, I felt miserable for about 3 weeks. I felt nauseous, dizziness, fatigue, muscle weakness, upset stomach, foggy headed, couldn't focus or follow a conversation, panic attacks, and depression for the first time in my entire life. It subsided, and I was blaming how I was feeling on a different med. I felt better after three weeks from my first injection, at 1 month, I took my second. The next day, EVERYTHING came back! I’m so, so upset. It absolutely took my migraines away, but I would gladly take a migraine over this feeling. I feel like we are all lab rats they’re testing this out on."

For Migraine Prevention "I am a 79-year-old female who has suffered from migraine headaches for over 35 years and tried everything that neurologists had to offer. One month ago, a neurologist suggested Aimovig and gave me a 140 mg sample. I took the injection the next day; two days later, my blood pressure zoomed to 201/110. I was ambulanced to an ER and treated. After multiple urgent care and doctor visits for help, I remain non-functional. I continue to suffer from debilitating migraines, constipation, nausea, vertigo, hypersensitivity, fatigue, etc. I called the national Amgen number for help and learned that Aimovig would be at its lowest in my system in 5 1/2 months. When asked when it would be out of my system altogether, the response was that that factor was unknown. How frightening! Why hasn't the FDA pulled Aimovig off the market? All Aimovig sufferers should form a class action lawsuit against this life-threatening drug. Count me a charter member!"

For Migraine Prevention "This was the worst thing I’ve ever done. I started Aimovig a year and a half ago. About a week after taking it, I started with the worst abdominal pain and constipation. It just got worse and worse. Now, a year and a half later, I’m stuck taking Linzess every night. If I don’t take it, I am left with awful abdominal pains, bloating, and constipation. When this drug first came out, it said it may cause “mild constipation.” Now the ad says it “may cause severe constipation.” I had no idea it would ruin my gut forever. DO NOT TAKE THIS. The side effects are horrid. I want to sue them."

For Migraine Prevention "I have used Aimovig 70 mg for one year. My side effect symptoms or problems have progressively worsened over the last six months. Terrible bloating, constipation, nausea, pain behind my eyes with blurred vision, hair loss, and overall feelings of yuck! Initially thought it was a wonder drug because my migraines have stopped completely, but the side effects are miserable and not worth it."

For Migraine Prevention "Had I known... never, ever, ever would I have jabbed this thing into my body. Seemed fine after the shot, 2 days went by and I got a migraine, not too bad. 2 days later, I woke up to a jaw that wouldn’t move and a face on the left I didn’t recognize, it was so swollen. It was hot and incredibly painful! For 3 weeks, I have felt feverish, chills, nauseous, off and on headaches, some migraines. I just need this to be over! I have chronic and episodic migraine with clusters in between. Sure, I’ll be down a day or 2... but this? I don’t even know what this is... pure freaking misery for $600. I don’t think they’ve done enough testing! Will I think normally again? Like ever!?! I’m nervous, it’s all about the greenback, we’re not lab rats, you know? I sleep all the time and my hands shake, I get my words tangled up. I’m telling you it’s AWFUL... a migraine I’m familiar with, a migraine I understand, but this? This is torture. Blessings to all."

For Migraine Prevention "Last month, I took 140 mg, and it was fabulous. I'm 64 and went from 20 migraines to 2 in a month. Dr. decided to move me back to 70 mg, and it's been terrible. No relief at all, so we will go back to 140."

For Migraine Prevention "I had a headache, and my doctor gave me the shot, and it subsided after the shot. But immediately I had nausea. Then I felt like I was on an elevator. Two weeks after the shot, and I have had severe side effects from this medicine. I ended up in the hospital, where they tested me for everything to make sure it wasn’t something else. The doctor told me that it was the Aimovig that was causing my debilitating side effects. Here are the side effects I have dealt with: nausea and vomiting, severe fatigue and drowsiness, brain fog and concentration issues, headaches, tremors and hands shaking, chest pain, but might be related to muscle spasms, extreme exhaustion, I can barely get out of bed. I have been having trouble breathing and just getting a full breath. I normally exercise every day, but can barely get through any routine with these side effects. I have severe vertigo that won’t let up. I also have a bloated stomach that makes it hard to eat sometimes. I also have joint pain."

For Migraine Prevention "I received the first Aimovig injection 10 days ago. Within the first week, I had fatigue and chest pains, which turned into palpitations. I got 3 eye styes in the matter of a week, which is very bizarre. I also ended up having multiple mouth ulcers 3 days ago. Yesterday, I started to experience vertigo, which I've never had in my life. I have not had a migraine, though. However, these side effects aren't listed, and yet they happened. I've read many people end up having side effects that get much worse by the second dose, and I'm just not willing to take that risk. I called Amgen, reported the side effects, which they will report to the FDA. This medication is pretty new to the market, so remember that when trying it. There may be other possible side effects that you are not expecting. I think if your migraines are bad enough, then I would at least give Aimovig a chance because everyone is different, but be aware of unexpected side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "Update 1 year: +/- one migraine/month, usually in the week before injection. Negs: Pharmacy often lags in filling prescription. Got a dud injector, and it took 2 weeks to get a replacement. The 1/2 life of Aimovig in the body is 28 days: I was late enough in getting my injection that I got a migraine 2 days after my shot. Some of the drug sometimes seeps out of the injection site after I remove the needle. Given a small dose, any amount of drug lost is a problem. I think this is a design failure of the autoinjector. Original: Significant drop in complicated migraine episodes. Had near-constant migraines. Also had severe vertigo for more than a year (may have been vestibular migraine). My migraines manifest with nausea, aura, neuralgia, extreme sensitivity to light, sound, and odors, and muscle spasms in my neck and jaw. I used to wake up most mornings with a “sick headache” feeling in my occipital region. That has disappeared. My only possible side effect is dry mouth."

For Migraine Prevention "I have suffered with migraines for over 41 years. I used Aimovig 70 mg for 3 months. This was my price tag for a slight and almost negligible improvement: 1. 1st injection, within 3 hours in the hospital for migraine rescue. 2. Next day, partial blindness in my right eye. That migraine caused a 'leak' in my retina. 3. Constipation! And diarrhea - EXTREMELY painful cramping!! 4. Lactose intolerance develops (NEVER had issues with dairy before). 5. Flu/cold lasting 3 weeks (sore throat). 6. Gained 18 lbs in three months of use!! 7. Fatigue, low energy. 8. Muscle cramp from shoulder up to the back of the neck lasting 3 weeks. 9. Kidney stones, UTI, lower back pain. 10. Brain fog, depression, don't-care feeling. 11. Nausea. 12. Memory loss! Migraines are debilitating. So if the objective is just to improve migraine status … I can concede that it did a little bit … but if it is to improve quality of life … then Aimovig (for me) is a FAIL!"

For Migraine Prevention "Aimovig has been a nightmare for me. Side effects (of which I was not warned) started within 10 days of the first injection and have continued (it's now 6 months since my last injection). Significant joint pain, hot flashes, itching, hair loss, weight gain. Joint pain makes it difficult to sleep as well as get out of bed in the morning. Getting out of a chair is very difficult without help. This drug has significantly changed my life for the worse. And it did nothing for my HA. Buyer beware!"

For Migraine Prevention "I started Aimovig in October 2019. December 2019 was my last dose for a few reasons. First off, my migraine days per month subsided significantly. I'm 38 years old and have had migraines since at least age 12. I get Botox and have my headache days cut from 25 to roughly 12. By December, on Aimovig, I was down to two headaches. I could not recall what it was like to have head pain under control. Side effects were too much and too concerning. In December, immediately following my last injection, I started getting severely dizzy, disoriented, and detached. I couldn't focus. It lasted for hours. Looking back, each month I had these types of effects, but less severe. The constipation became so severe with no relief. I have anxiety and panic attacks, but after the first month's injection, they were so severe. My normally low BP also spiked. My chest hurt often. It's almost like a tease to have the migraine pain more tolerable, but then the rest of your body falls apart."

For Migraine Prevention "I've been a migraine sufferer since I was 8-10 years old (now 33). I've been on multiple medications since. I tried Aimovig on September 17, 2019. Since then, I have felt like my body is shutting down. I can't be vertical for more than an hour or so without feeling dizzy and nauseated. My migraines have been so intense I've had to go to both the ER and the walk-in clinic to get a 'migraine cocktail' of Toradol/Benedryl/anti-nausea med. My heart rate has been in the 100s+ even sitting down/resting. I've been laying in bed and sleeping the past 4 days. I haven't actively been able to go to work in nearly 2 weeks. My body feels super heavy and I have extreme confusion/brain fog. I've reached out to Aimovig to see if this is a true reaction, to which they say it's not what's been documented. They documented my case, but clearly these are common reactions based on these reviews. I'm not entirely sure this isn't a reaction either, as I take other medications for migraine as well."

For Migraine Prevention "I just took this 2 days ago, so I can’t say if it completely works to prevent migraines yet. I absolutely have no energy, and I’m super spacey. I read the reviews for this medication after the injection, and I’m kicking myself now. I listened to my doctor, who told me that the only side effect was constipation. From what I’m reading, people about 10 days after taking this medication have severe fatigue. Well, I’m only 2 days out, and can’t keep my eyes open barely to write this review. I have a 2-year-old toddler, and this has been difficult, so I can’t imagine how the rest of the month will be. I’m regretting this decision so much. I normally have slight fatigue because I have a toddler, so if you normally feel a little fatigue, then my suggestion would be not to take this drug. The first day after taking it, I had a migraine all day long. Normally, I have them at night. Today it’s severe fatigue. I’d rather take other medication than deal with this for a month! Never again!"

For Migraine Prevention "I have had a daily headache for the past ten years, with episodic migraines on top of that. In the beginning, all days were agony, and then after a couple of years, I found some preventatives that give me very moderate relief, but most days of these past years have been terrible to bad...never a good day...never pain-free. On June 6th, I had my first shot of Aimovig. During the first month, I had a very mild response. I have now had four doses, and I continue to see improvement. My daily headaches are 50% better. I have not had a full-blown migraine in the last two months. It is as if my whole metabolism is a little slowed down. I had to pay for the first dose out of pocket because my insurance refused to pay. They paid for the last three doses, but my doctor's office called that they rejected the new prior authorization!!! I will fight and fight to get them to pay for this drug. It has changed my life!"

My neurologist prescribed Aimovig monthly injection when it became available, and it is almost a complete cure for me! I went from having about 15 severe migraines per month to 1-2. I have no side effects at all."

For Migraine Prevention "I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this medication. Like others, we will try anything and everything to get rid of the pain. I have, I guess, a cross between NDPH and chronic migraine. I have had a headache nonstop for over years now. It's believed to be caused by untreated Lyme disease. Anyhow, I took my first shot on Sept 1st. Within hours, I felt, well, disconnected from my body. I didn't feel good at all. I have continued to get more and more side effects every day. Muscle aches and pains, brain fog, anxiety, word jumbling, forgetting things easily. Just an overall feeling of not feeling good. Like the tail end of a flu. Like you can function, but you just don't feel well. Tired, fatigued, weak, etc. So needless to say, I won't try this again. Plasma half-life is 28 days. I can't wait for all this medication to get out of my system. Best wishes to all."

For Migraine Prevention "The good, the bad, and the ugly after 5 months of trial 70 mg. The good: literally took 99 percent of migraines away. I had been having migraines repeatedly for years, using tons of Imitrex, and Aimovig does take away migraines. The bad: constipation, body rash after one of the injections, weight and appetite loss, and hair loss. The ugly!! Severe unexplainable tremors, jerking shock-like movements, anxiety, muscle pain, back pain, tingling, numbness, flu-like symptoms, spinal pain! Never taking again. I am hoping the side effects wear off. No medical explanation for my symptoms, all happened after injections. Thought I was dying. I finally figured out what’s changed: the Aimovig. Would rather suffer with migraines!"

For Migraine Prevention "Been doing 140 mg monthly since May or June 2018. I’m having major side effects. It lumps up like a bubbling pot of water at the injection site, it itches so bad I left bruises on my thighs scratching at it through my pants. Later on in the month, perfectly circular hives pop up at the injection site, driving me nuts. Hair loss so significant my parents noticed the amount of hair in the shower, clogging my drain every week. Muscle aches, muscle spasms. Worse migraines. Much worse. Last one had me screaming my head off. I’ve had migraines for 21 years now. Constipation, weight gain, bloating, depression. I really feel like it’s making me worse. I always end up in a series of migraines during the first week after injections. I’m done. I tried. I know when something isn’t working. I’m an RN, so I know when I have problems with medicine and I’m much more alert to my health and meds than most. This was written during a migraine, so if it doesn’t make sense, sorry."

For Migraine Prevention "Don't take this medication! If you do and have the horrible side effects like I do, then you are screwed. I took my last dose April 11th and still feel like garbage! So now it says 5 months or more to get out of your system, but before, when I called them, they couldn't tell me anything but it has a half-life. I would rather have a damn migraine than this garbage! Chest pain and nauseated, etc... Try something else!"

For Migraine Prevention "I have taken Aimovig for between 6-8 months. The migraines improved tremendously, but I have had more fatigue, not feeling well, and after the last injection over three weeks ago, almost a nonstop headache, burning hands and feet. I have taken Frovatriptan and Sumatriptan during this time, but the headache always comes back. If you take the Aimovig, be aware of the side effects which I have had and others too: constipation, fatigue, prolonged headache, burning of hands and feet."

For Migraine Prevention "This drug has been nothing short of a miracle for me. I can even drink red wine again! Was having 2 or more migraines a week, which were responding to 100 mg sumatriptan, but the number of triggers was increasing with age and I was using too much. Furthermore, my insurance wouldn't cover so much sumatriptan, so I was buying it in Mexico. I've had two 140 mg shots and I'm migraine-free! No side effects. I'm an unusually fit and active 56-year-old woman with no other health issues."

A few weeks later, I had heart palpitations (which I never had before), and I was so tired I couldn't get up in the morning. The second injection was no better. Same as the first one.
