For Birth Control "I am so glad there are other reviews here. I thought I was losing my mental health. This pill has made me an absolute crazy person. I can't tell you the effects this has had on my life and my relationships (friends, work, boyfriend) I've been extremely depressed and have had bursts of rage and or tears, I started to realize (in the midst of an emotional breakdown) the way I was reacting to things was not normal, I finally connected the dots and realized it was because my pill changed to Givani 3 weeks ago. I've been on BC for 10 years so I don't think it was just an adjustment. Also had really bad acne but that was the least of my worries."

For Birth Control "Started taking this birth control the second week in August. After a week on the pill I suffered an intense panic attack. Something that I had never experienced before especially since nothing in my life had changed besides the birth control. Since then symptoms of anxiety, crying, and depression has been on and off. My period still isn’t regular. After almost two months off this medication I am just now feeling like myself again. Everyone is different and responds to medication differently. However I would just be aware of these symptoms just in case."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for 3 years. I felt fine on it but my triglycerides went from 120 the year prior to taking it to 226 the following year. The year after that it was 230 and then last year it was 240. I tried to research reasons for triglycerides increasing and found that it could be birth control. I got tested this year after being off the pill for 18 months and my triglycerides were 88. I have to say that I believe it was Gianvi. I'd keep an eye on this."

For Birth Control "I used Yaz for years with no problems but Gianvi made me moody, depressed, and seriously suicidal. Once I made the connection that my depression and suicidal thoughts were from the pill, I stopped immediately. Sure enough, two days later, I felt cheerful and fine. I also noticed this pill gave me zero sex drive--so maybe it is really effective birth control."

For Acne "Throughout puberty I had always had mild blemishes. Usually nothing too serious, occasinally cysts around the time of my menstural cycle. However, I've always been very self conscious about my skin and I wanted a fix once and for all. I visited the dermatologist and was prescribes topical medications but they didn't really do anything for the hormonal cysts. So finally I went on gianvi and I am so glad I did. There was an inital breakout and it was terrible but after 4 or 5 months there was evidently a drastic change. I no longer get any blemishes or cysts of any sorts. I am a bit more emotional than I previously was but the clarity and overrall radiance of my skin is definitely worth it."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Gianvi for about 4 months now and at first I really enjoyed it. Now I'm feeling nauseous, my breasts are swollen and painful and I've had a headache every other day for a month. I've also noticed a slight weight gain and I'm moody as hell not to mention my sex drive is gone. I'm so frustrated I want off this pill and back on my old one, Ocella. I'm calling my dr and demanding to switch back so I can stop being a monster and enjoy my sex life with my fiance again."

For Birth Control "I just finished my second month of Gianvi and it will be my last. CONS: Constant bleeding, gained weight, horrible headaches, and mood swings that make me feel crazy. PRO: No pregnancy, on-time period, went from a B to a C cup, no change in skin."

For Birth Control "I've been on Gianvi for about three months now. It's been amazing for my period which was heavy, long, and always a miserable experience. I bled for a whole month when I first started taking it, but my doctor said that was normal...so I loved what it did for my period. What I did not love is that I am so hungry all the time on this pill, and although I haven't gone too overboard with eating, I've gained 10 pounds since starting the pill. It has done nothing to help my acne, it has made me lazy, and my mood swings are out of control...I'll become a sobbing mess out of nowhere."

For Birth Control "I got switched to Gianvi from Yaz a little over a month ago. For the past few weeks I've been extremely emotional. I find myself almost in tears over the slightest things that normally I wouldn't even have noticed they were said. I'm suddenly very down and it takes a lot of motivation to get myself moving. I've already got another brand for when this pack runs out."

For Acne "I've been using Gianvi for 7 months now and my skin is clear and I didn't have acne before but the usual breakouts here and there. I do get extremely irritable the last week of pills but I guess that's expected. Other than that no complains besides the usual headaches like twice a month."

For Birth Control "Gianvi works great to control my periods. I used to only get a period sporadically, once every four months or so. Gianvi regulates my period so I don't have to worry about it. My breasts grew tremendously on this pill. My boyfriend obviously see this as a pro, but some of my clothes don't look as nice with these obnoxiously large breasts. I did gain some weight, but only because this pill increased my appetite. I still workout six days a week and do not feel sluggish. Gianvi totally cleared my skin except for the occasional pimple. My sex drive is the same. Overall I would definitely recommend Gianvi as a birth control method."

For Birth Control "Be careful with this birth control if you have a history of anxiety or mood disorder. I had history of major depression (episodic) and read warnings with this medication, was skeptical of it but decided to try. I kept journal of my moods for the 9 days that I took Gianvi. I believe it started to make me depressed. Not sure if this was effect of switching to new birth control (I was on trinessa 9 years before it was discontinued) but I believe it was the medication itself. I was very obsessive over minute things at work and in my relationship, irritable and impatient to the point that I was cruel to my BF, and started to have feelings of hopelessness when I was by myself. Two days after I stopped taking it, it was like a cloud was lifted from over me. Be cautious, was not good for my mental health."

For Birth Control "I had headaches for a few months but my body got pretty used to it. Periods were like clock work - 2 days sometimes only lasted even 1 but last year I started getting random spotting. I told my doc I wanted to try something new as there are so many options and the random spotting wasn't making my husband happy. So she prescribed me LO LOESTRIN. WORST MISTAKE EVER. First month on Lo Loestrin I didn't get my period (thought I was pregnant) second month got it twice, third month got it 3x. Was dizzy, sick to my stomach, constantly tired, started breaking out all over! Long story short - stayed on Lo Loestrin for 5 months. Now I'm back on Gianvi and happier than EVER!"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I switched onto Gianvi after taking Loryna for several years, Gianvi is the generic for Loryna. The effects aren’t much different, and both have been helpful for my PMDD and my period in general. My cramps decreased in frequency (though not in intensity), and my period is long but less severe than it might be without the pill. Psychologically speaking, I feel a little better all through my cycle, and my mood and behavior are a lot more stable when my period comes close."

For Menstrual Disorders "I am not an emotional person, I rarely cry, and I am taking birth control mainly for menstrual cramps. While my cramps have subsided and my period is lighter and shorter, I have had extreme emotional swings and changes in appetite. I have experienced anxiety, and these conditions have worsened with each progressive month. "

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Gianni to help with my acne. I didn't notice that much of a difference in my skin, however my mental health definitely took a big hit. I already suffer from social anxiety, but this took it far beyond that. After the first month, I noticed that anything and everything was making me cry. I would start hysterically crying, my anxiety would go through the roof and my panic attacks increased from once in a blue moon to having one at LEAST ONCE A DAY. I felt extremely fatigued and depressed and would have episodes where I just spaced out for about two minutes.. just staring at something and not even thinking about what was going on around me. Aside from my mental health, I also had severe cramping and my period has been messed up since taking this birth control. I'm currently on my 3rd week of bleeding and am still waiting for my period to go away."

For Birth Control "I love Gianvi! It has been effective with no side effects. My skin is clear, I have a sex drive, I didn't gain weight, and my periods are lighter. I can't say anything bad about this pill. Sadly have to quit it because my new insurance won't pay for it. "

For Birth Control "Gianvi gave me lighter and shorter periods, clear face, no cramps, no weight gain and no spotting. The only bad things I have to say are that I was dry during sex sometimes (not sure if the pill was to blame) and I had very slight increased irritability (not severe enough to affect my life). I switched to Junel FE a week ago because I needed the extra iron but if that doesn't work too well with my body, I will definitely switch back to Gianvi. Overall, it was a good pill for me."

For Birth Control "When first taking this medicine, I was a bit nervous after having read so many negative reviews. Needless to say, this birth control has actually worked beautifully for me so far and I am going into month three of taking it. I did experience severe nausea twice, once in the first month and again in the second---But other than that, no significant changes in my skin, weight, menstrual cycle, etc. My breasts increased in size only slightly. I will say, however, that the most surprising side effect was an increased sex drive, as I had assumed that my libido would take a dive after starting birth control in general. "

For Birth Control "I switched to Gianvi from Aviane in hopes of clearing up my acne. I was VERY excited because Yaz is supposed to be a miracle. My experience was far from a miracle. My skin did not clear up AT ALL, and got worse. I'm a freaking irrational hothead all month. I'm usually very good at shrugging off the small stuff, but it's like I have absolutely no control over my emotions anymore. I've become very lethargic; I could sleep all day if you'd let me. My once raging sex drive is now hardly existent. On the bright side, it did work strictly as birth control (hence the 4 rating). I've already made an appointment to switch."

For Menstrual Disorders "At first, i thought this was great. Same as Yaz, good for menstrual regulation. However, after three months, I felt like I was losing my mind. I was moody, depressed, anxious, irritable, and felt completely crazy. My friends and co-workers started noticing my mood swings too. I stayed on the med because it was fully covered, whereas Yaz costs a significant amount more. Recently I switched back to Yaz and couldn't be feeling better. I feel like my normal self again. I would rather spend the extra money on the name brand than ever go through that feeling again."

For Acne "I was on Gianvi for many years (at least 4). For all of it except the past year, Gianvi has been great. It controlled my acne and helped me have lighter periods. The past year has been worse though. I've had my periods not show up on the placebo pill days (they start 4 days after the placebo pill days, so they actually start after I start the next pack), and I've actually had breakthrough bleeding during sex which made me worry I had something much, much more serious going on as I was bleeding a LOT during sex only. My doctor told me I needed to swap to a higher hormone dose, so I had to go off this pill. Otherwise, I had no issue."

"I was on Loryna for a year and a half but then switched to Gianvi because the pharmacy was out it Loryna. A month on it was fine but towards the end I got severe anxiety and felt depressed constantly. I’m having crazy thoughts, doubting relationships I have and my career path and future for absolutely no reason. This is totally unlike me too. I had to go buy a pack of Loryna from the pharmacy and amazingly I’m getting better after taking 4 days of Loryna."

For Birth Control "I have been taking the Gianvi for about a year now. The first three months I felt fine, once in a blue moon I would experience nausea. But after the first three months my body was completely used to it. It was my first birth control I've ever taken. My gyno recommended it to me because she herself had been taking it for 12 years. So I trusted her opinion completely and I'm glad I did. While taking Gianvi gained 6 pounds. I needed it though and it all went to my breasts and bottom. I have grown a full cup size and my bottom looks good. Nothing went to my waist or face. My sex drive has severely gone down though, and I cry at the drop of a dime. Both developed after taking this, but I'm willing to work on these things for myself."

For Birth Control "Only upside was that I did not get pregnant. This medication made me moody, depressed and I broke out in painful cystic acne which I had never experienced before. I also experienced bloating and dramatic PMS which had never happened before either. "
