"I tried Gianvi last summer for about 4 months. I gained 20lbs and it's awful. I was at a 110 before and then towards the end of it, I was 130lbs. Once I got off Gianvi, I lost most of the weight I gained. It did however help with my acne. I had pretty bad acne before and Gianvi helped control it. "

"I'm so glad I tried this birth control. After reading all the negative reviews, I was honestly scared. I have been on it 3 months now and I have had a really good experience. No weight gain (may have even lost a few lbs), my skin looks the same (never had a problem with acne in the first place), and I can honestly say my mood swings are more stabilized the week before my period. I used to feel depressed for about a week and a half prior to getting my period and now I only feel down during the four days where I'm taking the placebo pills. I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo in the past and that made me gain approximately 10-15 lbs and made me have crazy mood swings, so I'm really glad I tried Gianvi despite the reviews."

"I was on Yaz before and loved it. However I started getting severe acne, a problem I haven't had in years, after switching to Gianvi. After only two months on Gianvi my skin is a mess. Finally made the connection and am switching back to Yaz as soon as possible."

"Decided to give this birth control a try after my previous bc was discontinued. After 3 weeks on Gianvi birth control pill I started to suffer from intense panic attacks like I’ve never had before which led me to become depressed. I chose it because I get cystic acne close to my period and it honestly hasn’t helped with that issue. I started to spot close to my period and my anxiety attacks became more apparent and I would cry and get very upset over everything. This is not the birth control for me."

"So I started on Gianvi and it wasn't bad. It worked for a long time no issues then BAM! I gained almost 30lbs within 3 months of being on this pill. I'm an active person and I hadn't been able to lose the weight. Not only that, but I started to develop a rash on my forehead. Wondering why it wouldn't go away I stopped taking the pills for a month and the rash had gone away, then when I went back on the pills it came back and it was so bad. I couldn't sweat or it would burn, no makeup, and not even a hat could touch my forehead. Guess no more pills because this one was the absolute worst and last."

"Been on this pill Gianvi for almost 10 years. I was on it from about 18-24. Stopped it to start our family. I got back on it when I was 26. Before my son it worked good. Towards the end my periods did start to go back to 6 days though. Went back on it after having my son and it has been horrible. I am so much more irritable and moody EVERYDAY. I take it like I should and I still have spotting most months. I am constantly exhausted and switching pills next month. The only plus was I was able to get pregnant within a month of quitting the pill...I will never go back to this"

"I'm currently on Gianvi & let me tell ya I'm having the worst experience ever, my migraines are so bad after they're it feels like my brain is about to fall out of my head, I'm constantly dizzy & always having weird chest pain.. I have made the decision to get off of this pill as soon as possible & have made the decision to go with the most traditional route.. CONDOMS even though I already have a 10 month old. I was on the depo shot before this & that was a horrible experience too! I've read so many reviews on this pill some good some bad some relatable. I'm constantly feel like I'm having a anxiety attack my hormones are out of this world."

"I was on Gianvi for about five years with minimal issues until I developed bilateral pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in my lungs). The only thing that the doctors could find as to why I developed the blood clots was my birth control pill (Gianvi). After doing some research after the fact, I discovered that the hormone used in Gianvi, drospirenone, makes you more likely to develop blood clots as compared to other birth control pills that do no have drospirenone. I would have not taken this pill had I known that I had a higher chance of developing potentially deadly blood clots."

"I have been taking Gianvi for almost two months. I've had spotting for weeks on end, sometimes an odd pain in my chest, frequent headaches and nausea, vision changes in my right eye and my mood is often really low. I already have anxiety issues and this has magnified them too. I found it helpful to read that others have had some of these odd symptoms, too."

"My mental health got so bad on this drug that I wasn't even able to complete one cycle of pills. Since I started the pack, I'd been horribly depressed. I was crying every day and every night, with major lethargy and other bad effects. I was originally prescribed this medication to deal with period cramps and help me with bad PMS symptoms, but ironically I experienced pains at weird parts of my cycle where I'd never gotten them and, like I mentioned, my mental health worsened significantly. I also broke out heavily all over my chin. It would have been nice if this had worked out, but it led to a really bad experience for me."

"This is one of the worst birth controls I've used. Before this I was on Loryna and it was perfect. Even Nikki was ok the only side effect being extreme nausea. This one doesn't give me mental/issues although I've never had a birthcontrol that has. BUT the big negative on this is it not only kills my libido, but it also makes me dry and for some reason I'm not able to fully stretch out when having sex and keep getting tears, it is both frustrating and painful and my partner is extra cautious and considerate and its so frustrating to have this problem. I know its this BC because I went off of it for 2 months and sex became great again. As soon as I got back on boom problems came back. Never had this issue with Loryna or Nikki and I am furious. I've been trying to get loryna but the pharmacy is out and they gave me another genetic instead, so I'm hoping this new one isn't as bad as Gianvi. Even tho the active ingredients are the same in all these pills..the inactive ones seem to either make or break it for different women."

"I am 39 and have never had PMS to speak of. I have been on birth control pills for over a decade (Estrostep, OrthoTricyclen) with no problems. Went on Gianvi and it was a nightmare. I stuck it out for 3 months as my body adjusted thinking it would get better but if anything, it got worse. The 10 days or so before my period I was tense, stressed and depressed. It had such a negative impact on my life. And no sex drive to speak of. The only positive thing I can say is that I did not notice worsening of any weight or acne problems. "

"I have been on Gianvi for about a month. At first, I think it gave me mood swings. I was very irritable. But it seems to have calmed down. There's no other negative thing for me to say about it. On the positive side, it has cleared up my acne and my skin looks and feels better. I haven't had my first period on the pill yet."

"I have had no trouble with this pill at all. My period starts the same time every month and I hardly bleed when it comes. I used to have awful irregular periods that came with awful cramps, but now I have a very light flow and little to no cramping."

"I started using Gianvi 2 1/2 months ago and it has been great! I have PCOS and before I started taking Gianvi my periods were a nightmare! I couldn't use tampons because I would bleed over them in ten minutes. I would bleed 15-19 days straight. The cramps were so bad, I would rather give birth. The first 3 days of my period if I stood up blood would run down my legs. Since starting Gianvi my periods are light and last 4 days and hardly no cramps "

"I switched to Gianvi about a year ago and yeah, it's prevented pregnancy pretty well, but other than that I hate it. I've noticed, and so has my boyfriend, that my moods are terrible all month long. I flip out way too easily and get irritated quickly, which never happened before to this extent. I was always such a calm laid back person on Yaz."

"I started Gianvi after switching from Yaz to another pill that did nothing for me. I used to have an intense 7 day period, extreme cramps, migraines, large pimples, and crazy mood swings for no apparent reason. Gianvi has changed all that. I do still get cramps and mood swings, but both are very muted. I have much smaller breakouts and the migraines are gone. I get a very light bleeding during my period, which only lasts 2-3 days. HOWEVER, I miss my period (the bleeding part) often. I still get the other symptoms at that time. Personally, I love Gianvi. I feel much freer to do things like drive because I know I won't be suddenly doubled over in pain behind the wheel."

"The absolute worst birth control that I have EVER taken! I had to stop taking this pill halfway through the pack because of the side effects. One day I found myself crying totally out of no where, I was also becoming depressed which is very uncommon for me, being that I'm a pretty jovial person. Another terrible factor for me was the heavy bleeding even after my period had ended. I already have extremely heavy and painful menstrual cycles as it is, so the fact that I was bleeding even more was a no-go for me. My appetite fluctuated from day to day but I still gained a few pounds. I'll be switching to a different one ASAP."

"I'm on my first week of this pill and let me tell you, I'm really considering just to stop taking it. I have been so depressed and emotional the past few days I feel like there is nothing to look forward to in life. Also I spot every day and it yes so annoying because I want to wear my "nice underwear" but can't and I really don't want to wear a pad all the time. I know my body is getting used to it so I will try my best to continue it. Everyone is different and I hope that they are having a lot better experiences with it than I."

"Hello again! I provided a quick summary of my experience with the pill two weeks in below and wanted to give an update...So, the good news- my boobs are bigger and the acne around my chin area has subsided. Bad news, I've gained weight and I'm always bloated. I've always had a flat stomach, but ever since I started taking the pill I'm 24/7 bloated. All hell broke loose this weekend when I literally thought I was being possessed by the devil. I started bleeding heavily and the cramping was relentless and unbearable. After a night out, I came home and was overwhelmed with depression and anxiety. I was hypersensitive to every sound and I cried for 3 hours for god knows what reason. I'm hesitant to start this new pack after that hellish episode"

"Took this medication, as Vestura was no longer available... I began having yeast infection symptoms on a monthly basis to having full reoccurring yeast infections monthly. Finally concluded Gianvi birth control pills were the cause after quitting Gianvi altogether. Everyone's body is different. Vestura wasn't perfect but it worked better for me than Gianvi. Awful! 6 months of yeast infections!"

"I started this bc pill to regulate my period and then used as a birth control option. I always use a condom too so I can't give an honest opinion on how well it worked in that department. My shoulders and back had some mild acne but it's all cleared up by now, and I've been on the pill for 6 months. My face still get the occasional bump or two, but nothing nearly as bad. My body synced up to the pill and my period is light and only 3 days long. The worst side effects are nausea and the mood swings. I cry a lot easier now and seem irritable. The spotting stopped within the first two months of taking the pill."

"The first few months were great! Light periods, minimal cramping. The past 3 months I have started my period 2-3 days early and it lasts about 2 weeks. That gives me about a week per month that I'm not on my period. I'm changing pills tomorrow, hopefully the next kind isn't as treacherous!"

"I've been on it for 3 months, and it's pretty good. Your acne does get semi worse for the first couple months but at month 3, I can see that my skin is clearing up. I would say 8/10 in terms of how much it's helped my skin. I don't think I've gained much weight, but my boobs have definitely gotten bigger. No loss of sex drive for me, but it has not helped my period cramps/aches at all. I think it's only made my period marginally lighter. It does what it does, fairly well, and it's completely covered by my insurance. There have been no negative side effects as of now."

"I was on Yaz when my phaamacy switched me over to Gianvi about 4 months ago. I have AWFUL anxiety and depression about almost everything. I have also had a lot of changes to my appetite but have ended up losing 15 pounds because of my anxiety. I cannot wait to switch to a different birth control."
