For Bacterial Infection "Every time I get a sinus infection I ask for Doxy it clears me up in a few days. I don't have any bad side effects, guess I'm lucky. I would recommend this medicine highly for sinus infections since it works so fast. I have to work and don't have time to be sick, I'm also a single mother and can't be down too long and this medicine never lets me down!"

For Acne "All I can say is that it changed my life. I had severe acne, but this year in January, I started doxycycline. In March, I stopped because my face was now clear. Till now, no doxycycline, no acne. I am really happy."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have a severe urinary tract infection, which has also affected my left kidney. Although this medicine makes me sick every time I take it, it's in my system long enough to keep it there. It is the worst medicine to ever have to take, but I have to say it is probably doing its job! I still have 4 days of it left, wish me luck, but I would recommend this to anyone who has a serious infection. I have been on 3 other medicines before this one, ciprofloxacin included, and none of them even touched it! It's worth the sickness sometimes for a healthier life!"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "This doxycycline is the only antibiotic that works almost immediately when I get a sinus infection. I had my first sinus infection about 2 years ago, was prescribed amoxicillin and was absolutely miserable while sick and this didn't even touch it. Went back to the doctor about a week later, still feeling awful with all the normal respiratory symptoms and was then put on doxycycline. It started to work very quickly and I don't remember experiencing any side effects. Fast forward to now when I started experiencing the same symptoms of this last sinus infection from 2 years ago (facial pain, runny nose, headache, sore throat) and immediately made an appointment with my doctor who prescribed doxycycline, as it worked so well before. Again, this started working almost immediately and the symptoms started subsiding. This is a wonder drug in my opinion and I highly recommend!!"

For Bacterial Infection "Took this after a round of Amoxicillin for sinus and tooth pain. The Amox did not do much, but the doxy did. It also changed my digestion for the better and still cannot figure out why, totally unexpected result. My sinus headache and tooth pain cleared. Must be something in the gut it gets rid of also. I have experienced no side effects whatsoever. I now have no bloat, pain, or anything in the gut and can eat anything again without symptoms. Before, I couldn't eat pizza, salads, dressings, cheese, mushrooms, spices, pickles, steak, and sauces without problems. Now I am all good - what gives? I have had gut pains for years, but recently no more. Strange, very strange. If I pass today, I was wrong, but not yet."

For Bacterial Infection "I started on Doxycycline a few days ago after a week of headaches and painful sinuses. I was running a low-grade fever and coughing up phlegm like crazy. Every part of my body hurt from the fever. Once starting doxy taken with a full glass of water, no vitamins, and no laying down for 30 minutes, I started to get better. I had a few graham crackers so I didn't take it totally on an empty stomach. My fever broke, and the headaches are gone. I had many sinus infections until having surgery on them for a drainage issue 20 years ago. I never had another one until this year, and it's a doozy. Doxycycline is the only thing that works for me on these sinus infections."

For Acne "I’m writing a review because I feel like most people come on to let people know their bad experiences to warn them. But I have nothing but good things to say about doxycycline for acne! I have been on doxycycline for 10 weeks now. It is awesome! I have had zero side effects, and my face is clearer than it’s ever been. Completely clear actually. It did take about 6 weeks to start seeing a noticeable difference but I would absolutely recommend it 10/10. I even had someone comment on how nice my skin is! I would have never thought that would happen to me!"

For Pneumonia "I let cough go untreated for 4 weeks because of no insurance, didn't want to create another bill I couldn't pay, and by end of week four I started coughing up blood so went to clinic. Pneumonia diagnosis. Was given doxycycline 100 mg x2 daily for 7 days. I'm on day two and already lungs are clear. Second day had a little stomach upset but I'd not drink much water that time. That is the key...drink water, drink water and drink water. Other than that one instance, no stomach trouble at all. It's a strong antibiotic and it works great, so glad I wasn't given amoxicillin which always tears my stomach up and works nowhere near as good as this has so far. First time using it and I'm thoroughly impressed so far. Tough out the stomach issues if you have any, again drink that water, cannot stress enough, not only for this drug but for helping the body to expel the mucus. Not cokes, not coffee or any caffeine, it's a diuretic and will keep you dehydrated."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Doxycycline was the only thing that worked for my perioral dermatitis (which I got from using triamcinolone on my face - huge mistake!). I tried metronidazole at first as it's a more conservative treatment, but it did nothing for me. Doxy cleared it up in about 11 days, but I continued to take it for a month to make sure it didn't come back. It hasn't come back and it's been about a year."

For Bacterial Infection "Had a really bad sinus infection, tried Augmentin, but it didn't help. After that, my doctor prescribed Ambroxol AL (available in Germany) - a combination of ambroxol hydrochloride (secretolytic agent for mucus) and doxycycline 100 mg. After only two days, I started feeling much better - my nose and ears were clear, and I felt much better in general. No side effects, since I took it after a meal (not on an empty stomach)."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "This antibiotic worked great. It cleared my lungs that were suffering for two years as a result of getting an infection from a breathing test machine. I took other antibiotics, but they only added a prolongation to it, making it worse. Eventually, it got so bad that the Veteran Admin put me on doxycycline, a drug that I will always request for bone, lung, and other conditions."

For Rosacea "I started taking doxycycline one month ago, and within 3 days, my acne and rosacea were gone, and it never came back. My doctor told me it would not help with the redness at all, but it did. I could honestly just cry. I am THAT happy with this medication. It also soothed my very dry eyes, which I think were due to the rosacea as well. Take note, however, that this stuff is REALLY hard on your stomach if you take it without eating. I get dizzy and dry heave. All in all, I want to hug my doxycycline because it changed my life."

For Acne "I have always had acne, but it got significantly worse in the past 6 months, and I felt like I needed to see a dermatologist finally (I am 23). At the point of this review, I have been on doxycycline for only about two weeks, but already I am seeing a huge improvement in my skin. I haven't really gotten any new acne except for a few small pimples that are nothing compared to what I have been getting. I am also using adapalene gel in the morning and tretinoin at night. I will say personally I MUST take the doxycycline with food - when I don't, it makes me severely nauseous, even to the point where I throw up. The nausea would normally subside in about 45 minutes. But when I eat it with a full meal, it is totally fine, I just have to remember to do that. I will try to provide an update once I am done with the full 2-month treatment!"

For Bacterial Infection "Doxycycline has been the only antibiotic that has helped me consistently clear my severe sinusitis with excessive catarrh and phlegm (even when I was told it was viral) - over 15 years. Once every couple of years or so I have had infections that simply don't clear without help. I have been prescribed many other antibiotics and all that happens is I have to finish the unhelpful course (with no result) and then use Doxycycline. Over years, I have endured the ridicule of several doctors who explain how this cannot help me - I then have to find a doctor who listens - then I can breathe again."

For Lyme Disease "June 20, 2017, I walked in the back of my fence area, where deer travel for 2 minutes. Three days later, I had a pimple-looking rash on the back of my left arm. I thought it was an acne pimple or mosquito bite. Started to feel fatigue, pain up and down my spine, brain fog, headache, night sweats. I thought it could be the flu. Luckily for me, a big red rash showed up 2 days later, so I went to my primary doctor. He tested me for Lyme disease, and it was positive. The worst symptom for me was the pain up and down my spine, especially at night and before I woke up. The heavy night sweats were worrying also. I have read tons of articles on Lyme disease and hope this can help others. I am in my 50s and in pretty good health, not overweight, and exercise 1 to 2 days per week. I have never had any other health issues. The doctor prescribed doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily for 30 days. I started to feel normal 2-3 days after started taking it. I had no major side effects. After and during the 30 days, I felt that I had killed the disease. Two months later, out of nowhere, my spine started to hurt again, and night sweats etc. came back. I waited 4 or 5 days to see if it was going to go away, but no such luck. Went back to the primary doctor, he thought I should try amoxicillin 500 mg orally three times daily for 21 days. Started taking it but the results were very different than Doxycycline. The whole 21 days plus 5 more days after, I stopped having pain in my spine and no more night sweats, but my whole body felt like it was trying to fight off something and my arms felt like they had mild pins and needles in them for the full 26 days. I thought maybe that meant it was working, so I suffered through. After the 26 days, I still wasn't feeling right, major bad symptoms were gone but still had brain fog and fatigue. Went to an Infectious Disease/ Lyme Dr., told my story, asked a lot of questions. He recommended I go back on Doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily for 60 days, and that should be it. I started taking it again on November 6th, all problem symptoms are gone, and I'm feeling normal again. I also truly believe that exercise with machines or weights and 30 minutes of aerobics, along with steam or sauna, help a lot. Heavy blood circulation gets your immune system to work better and gets the toxins out, in my opinion. Let's hope I don't get the Lyme disease symptoms back again after the 60 days. Good luck to all who come down with this terrible disease."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "20 years ago (1998) my wife got a flu shot, which was contaminated with mycoplasma bacteria. The result was Psoriatic arthritis. She was treated with Remicade, a popular biologic, and methotrexate. In 2008, we were made aware of the fact that arthritis is a bacterial infection, not an 'autoimmune' disease. We found an ethical Rheumatologist who put my wife on Doxycycline 50mg daily. She saw results in 6 months and was off Remicade. She still took the poison methotrexate for 10 more years until it started causing liver cirrhosis. When she stopped that and with NAC (N-acetylcysteine) and milk thistle, she overcame the cirrhosis. The fact is 'autoimmune diseases' are usually a bacterial infection which can be cured, not just treated for the symptoms. The ethical doctor is now trying to get her off the Doxycycline, which means she is cured of the mycoplasma bacteria."

For Acne "I've been on this medication, doxycycline, for almost 4 months. The side effects were pretty brutal at the beginning (nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity), but now my body has adjusted to the medication. I have seen a major improvement in my skin. I'm not getting any breakouts or big pimples like I used to get before I started this medication. I'm taking this medication along with clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide, this combination has been great. Right now, I only have a few bumps on my forehead. I recommend eating before taking this medication, though :P"

Doxycycline for Acne "My 15-year-old daughter started on this 2.5 weeks ago. Week 1, we saw no change. Week 2, the acne was significantly worse (the medicine paper warns that this may happen). As soon as Week 3 started, like magic, her face started to clear. We are happy with the results and hopeful for continued improvement."

For Chlamydia Infection "I had unprotected sex last December 2018 and got chlamydia. I took doxycycline for 10 days, and the symptoms were gone maybe by day 5. I really thought the infection was gone, but this month (April 2019) my symptoms came back. I don't know what to do this time. If you have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it."

For Pneumonia "What are all these bad comments towards doxycycline? First of all, taking it for 2 days? Come on now. Take your full course. Second of all, nausea? It is a side effect. It is a 7-day course, you should persist. I’m sure sepsis is a lot worse. Photosensitivity? It’s not even sunny. If it is, wear sun cream. I was on this medication, and as a result, I did not get sepsis, and I did not die. My lungs did not necrose, and I did not choke on my own purulent sputum. This medicine is amazing."

For Acne "About 8 months ago, my skin suddenly went from clear to having huge, painful hormonal breakouts. My doctor recommended doxycycline, so I started taking it. It took around 2 (very frustrating) months to start seeing a difference, but ever since then my skin has cleared up. I still occasionally get breakouts, but from things other than hormones (diet, not washing my face, etc.). Reading through these reviews, this doesn’t work for everyone, but I recommend at least trying it, especially if you are dealing with hormonal cystic acne. Things I’ve learned: - Don’t take it before lying down - Don’t take it on an empty stomach - Take it with a large glass of water and eat afterwards - From extensive internet research, it seems like doxycycline normally takes 8-10 weeks before you start seeing a difference and 12 before the full effects - Works best when combined with Differin gel (available at a drugstore without a prescription), moisturizer, and a gentle cleanser."

For Bacterial Infection "Went to a new doctor for a sinus infection as I just moved into a new area. I've always used amoxicillin as I prefer no side effects or drowsiness. This doctor refused that completely and said I need a nasal spray, and he would only give me an antibiotic if I got the nasal spray too. Okay, whatever, I'll take both. I go to the drugstore, where the nasal spray cost me $50. And I find out he didn't give me a prescription for amoxicillin. He prescribed me this doxycycline. Well, I am on day 3, and let me tell you, not only has my sinus infection NOT gone away, it has gotten so bad that I can barely hear, and the infection is so bad that all my teeth hurt on the top of my mouth! I have the worst headache. I haven't been able to sleep for 2 nights, I'm high, I can't breathe, I'm sick, I'm in pain everywhere, chills, and I now have a throat and chest infection. I'd cry, but I'm so out of it I can't. I feel helpless and afraid. This is the most awful medication I have ever taken."

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking this drug and instantly felt nauseous and fatigued to the point where I could not get out of bed. I started taking probiotics with it, which helped with the physical side effects, but the mental side effects were unbearable. I started off feeling extremely depressed, and then came intense waves of anger and anxiety. By my 6th day taking it, I had lost all memory of an entire day, and on the 7th day, I was so low. Luckily, I stopped taking it after the intense dark thoughts. It has been 2 days since I took the antibiotic, and I feel completely normal again. This drug is evil for anyone susceptible to mental health problems - do not take it!!!!"

For Lyme Disease "I woke up 4 weeks ago with a red blotchy rash and immediately went to see my doctor. I was diagnosed with Lyme and started taking doxycycline prescribed for 21 days. I had the symptoms of extreme fatigue and what I thought were flu symptoms. I did the research on the doxy before I took it. I am not a fan of taking any medication. I read that it should be taken with a lot of water. I would drink 8 ounces of water before the pill and the same after. The only time I got sick was when I drank less than 8 ounces, it was an awful experience. I am on my last day of the meds. In my opinion, drinking almost 40 ounces of water a day has helped this process. It prevents you from getting sick and it flushes the toxins out of your body, your stomach will reward you, and you are helping your body detox. I am excited as today is my last day on doxy and looking forward to positive lab results in a few weeks. Wishing everyone that reads this a healthy and complete recovery!"
