"This is my preferred muscle relaxer when I deal with sciatica flare-ups. Was prescribed Flexeril once, and it did nothing for me in 4 days. Asked the doctor to switch me to this, and she gave me a 6-day prednisone pack, and halfway through 6 days of that and the Valium, I am starting to feel way better."

"I’ve been diagnosed with peripheral and peroneal neuropathy in early 2009. My orthopedic surgeon initially prescribed 10 mg tablets 4 times daily. Also, I was prescribed gabapentin and Celebrex that didn’t agree with me. So, I was prescribed OxyContin immediate release, including Vicodin. The leg spasms were mostly at bedtime when my body was in a lying position. I never took more than 4 tablets a day, nor more than 10 mg at a time. I later found out that by putting my hands on my knees for a few minutes, the spasms in my feet and hamstrings subsided. I quit all the above meds in 2015 and had no adverse effects. I find that belonging to the YMCA, I utilize the sauna, steam, and jacuzzi, which help with my musculoskeletal symptoms. I do have spasms throughout my body (being a former tradesman) and have other occupational issues. Also, I take hot Epsom salts baths and drink tea, especially Smooth Move tea, that helps remove the toxins and keeps my bowels moving. Think positive!"

"Valium works for me. I have a panic disorder, and I was taking Ativan (Lorazepam) in the U.S. since 2004. My psychiatrist changed it to Diazepam, 10 mg, sometimes 5 mg, since I have lived in Manila, Philippines. I have to wean off Lorazepam for a while since you can't just stop Lorazepam right away, and there is no Lorazepam here in Manila. Diazepam is the answer, so I have switched to it. It works really well."

"Extreme back pain was gone after the first shot. Amazing what this medication does. The only side effect is that it makes you very sleepy, which in a way could be a good thing so you don't feel the pain (in my case, I found it very useful)."

"I was put on Valium 5 mg (generic Diazepam) twice daily for 2 reasons: severe muscle spasms and anxiety. It works well for sleeping, and I do not wake up feeling hung over like I was on Robaxin. I am a nurse's aide, and Valium can be highly addictive, so I only take it as needed when spasms and anxiety are bad."

"I do not tolerate opiates, so discovering Valium as a pain reliever for severe muscle spasms is great. Only used minimally as needed and only when other nonprescription modalities aren't effective in reducing the pain to a tolerable level. First used S/P ACDF 10 years ago and again this week for fx ribs, fx scapula, fx spinal disc, fx thumb resulting from a motorcycle accident. Also have a concussion, and symptoms are improving... 2 weeks S/P accident."

"The Valium really helped with the spasms from my back, which was stenosis. I took 5 mg in the day and 10 mg at night, and that will make you run for the bed. Beware if taking the 10 mg while you are up because it will knock you out."

"I find that the generic form of Valium doesn’t work for me. I’m using it for muscle spasms in the pelvic floor, causing rectal pain. I get Valium suppositories, 10 mg made at a compounding pharmacy. This is very effective for rectal pain. Otherwise, I use a Valium 5 mg pill. The name brand is very expensive at $3.50 per pill. It’s less expensive to use the 10 mg suppository, and it works better for my pain."

"I have had MS since 1986, when there were no treatments. I have chronic spasticity, for which I have been treated with multiple drugs. I live with it during the day, but it doesn’t allow me to sleep, so I take 10 mg at bedtime."

"No doctor had been able to diagnose my condition. As a result, I was prescribed 10 mg of Valium 3x daily as a crutch indefinitely. At first, I was dim-witted and happy and got some relief, but after about a year, I started to become increasingly apathetic, dim-witted, started to have problems with light sensitivity and focus, became uninterested in socializing, and had a personality shift from the funny, charming guy to a depressed robot with anger spasms, who takes risks just to feel some sense of being alive. After 2.5 years, the physical relief has all but stopped, and in any case, I cannot have a life taking this. I am in the process of tapering off of it."

"I was recently given Valium with methadone for muscle spasm and pain due to cancer treatment. I have to say, with all the other medicines we tried, this worked the best. I have to give a big thanks to my doctors for finally coming up with a treatment that finally worked."

"I have spondylosis in my neck and have extreme pain on a number of occasions and ended up having to have an epidural. Muscle relaxants never helped. However, when I went to the ER one time, the doctor said that some people got relief with Valium, and he gave me a prescription. It is sometimes hard to get a doc to prescribe it since it is a benzodiazepine, and most docs are really bureaucrats these days. However, it works really well for me, and nothing else I've tried works that well. It doesn't take much, and I don't have to use it very often, but I am grateful to have a doctor who listens to me and will prescribe it. I haven't had to have an epidural since I started using it four years ago."

"I have a chronic muscle spasm in my right shoulder area after a surgery, followed by a car accident years later. Valium is the only medication that I find relieves the pain. I don’t find Endone or that family helpful at all."

"I had a Cavernous Malformation which led to a stroke at age eight in 2002. The doctors put me on Baclofen right away to combat the muscle spasms I have in my right arm and right foot. Over the 20+ years, I have added to Baclofen by taking Tizanidine and Robaxin, and it's still tight! In 2020, my dad passed away and I was dealing with some major depression and anxiety. My doctor prescribed 5 mg of Valium, and it helped with my anxiety right away. About a week after, I started noticing my right arm was unusually loose, and that was all she wrote! Thank you, Valium, for showing me that something can work for muscle spasms and work well!"

"It has been a terrible drug for me. I was put on 5 mg for pelvic muscle spasms for 4 years. I became chronically nauseated for 6 months, had my gallbladder removed, and nausea ceased. During that time, the doctor increased Valium to 35 mg to combat nausea when other meds were ineffective. The doctor then abruptly stopped Valium. I had convulsions, was very sick, and didn’t know why. Eventually, a psychiatrist reinstated 15 mg. That was 12 years ago. I have never been the same. Didn’t realize how it can disrupt a body. There are over 100 side effects you can experience tapering off this drug. It is a dirty drug that interacts with so many other medications. I am currently on a very slow liquid taper and praying I can recover. Most people eventually do recover. A small percentage suffer permanent damage."

"You know perfectly well this drug is hell, and the withdrawal of it is obscene if you even make it. How dare doctors not let patients know this up front. It is criminal. For years this withdrawal issue has been known and hidden from patients and even doctors. It has ruined my life and many others, millions of others. Speak up."

"This medication works as intended with minimal side effects. Relieves my muscle spasms and takes away the nervousness and bad attitude caused by back pain (not back ache). I take Percocet with Valium."
