"I was prescribed Viorele for ovarian cyst. It's been 10 days since I started taking it and I've had constant intense headaches, body aches/weakness and dizziness. My mood is horrible. First time I'm taking contraceptives and I feel so awful. Ready to drop it at this point."

"Worst birth control ever, make me sick, I have headaches since the day 1, mood swings, anxious , was feeling terrible, so I found out that a lot of people taking this birth control are having the same conditions, so I stoped, the next day my headache was gone."

"I started these pills because of a very irregular period, and once I started all my periods became regular and shorter. This pill cleared up my acne, as well. The second month taking it however I would feel nauseous, but it went away, and it also weirdly increased my sex drive. I did gain a little bit of weight in my stomach and my boobs grew 2 cup sizes larger. Overall this pill works for me and helped with my period and I would recommend it, although it works differently for everyone."

"Haven’t had much issues with Viorele. Sometimes I accidentally skip a pill, which will cause my period to come at an earlier time, but that’s definitely my fault! My periods are much lighter, but longer than before lasting 7-8 days. I used to have horrible back cramps on my period, but this stuff has helped tremendously! I definitely think I’m more emotional but I feel as though that’s probably natural and not crazy alarming! I’ve had no issues with sex drive."

"I will be starting my third pack next week. This pill has given me pimples, my boobs have grown a cup size, but hurt all the time I can't even jog. No real weight gain but just a general nausea, pelvic, and back pain most of the time. I will give it another month to subside...."

"I'm anemic and have heavy periods so my doc suggest these would help me get my blood iron levels back up by lightening my periods. This is my second month and it sure has done that. I've been having trouble going to bed but when I'm out, I'm out and I feel rested when I wake up. Maybe I have more energy from not almost bleeding to death this month. It has lowered my sex drive for sure. But I'm not complaining cause I lack self control and my husband can take a break"

"I just starred using Viorele about a week ago. I have tried many birth control in the past and by far this is the best one. I haven't had any side effects like I have with others. No mood swings, headaches, irritability and nausea. Hopefully it is able to control my irregular and painful period. I'll find out in 3 weeks."

"Took viorele for 2 months and I had to stop. Started taking the pill when my period started and my period went on for 4 weeks (medium bleeding). I also got nauseous after taking the first pack. Nausea and long bleedings stopped with the second pack. However, with the second pack I was very moody, I had this uncontrollable anger and being so angry made me cry so much. Planning to switch to a lower dose pill. Being off the pill for 2 weeks, I can feel the difference. Even my boyfriend notices. I feel like I am no longer angry and moody all the time."

"I've been taking this BC for 3 months now and just had my gyno switch brands today. I have be incredibly irritable, anxious, and depressed. I feel like I'm PMS'ing 24/7. I've also experienced some pretty painful menstrual cramping. I do not recommend this brand at all."

"I loved Viorele. I switched to it after having bad side effects with 2 other pills that were 30mg of estrogen. Viorele is amazing because I feel absolutely nothing, no nausea, have lost weight since I began taking it, no cramps, although I have been breaking out some but it could also be due to wearing a mask. 10/10 recommend if you are coming out of a higher estrogen pill."

"I liked the pilled because it prevented me from getting pregnant, but I had NO SEX DRIVE! Horrible it was causing a lot of issues with my marriage. I had very strong cramps and my periods lasted 5 days. I stop taking it because I honestly felt dead down there."

"I have been on Viorele for the past 4 months and within that time I have gained between 15-20lbs, I have severe bouts of depression and anxiety, I have chronic migraines that have intensified in pain and occurrence, and the lowest libido I've ever experienced in my sexual history. Thank goodness my boyfriend is the amazing man he is because I would have left me due to the irritability alone! The only plus about this pill FOR ME is the regulatory of my cycle, the clear skin, and the fact that I'm not pregnant. I have set an appointment to get back on the IUD"

"Do NOT take this Viorele birth control pill!! My pharmacist gave me this instead of Kariva and it made my period go from 3 days to 7 days, horrible cramps, made me super angry with my boyfriend, low sex drive, made me cry, and makes me nauseous. This is TERRIBLE. I had taken this before I took Kariva and didn’t realize that birth control is not supposed to make you feel this crazy!"

"I have been on this pill for probably about 4-5 years. My experience has been overall pretty pleasant. I never noticed it affecting my mood or behavior and I have never felt depressed due to the pill. I also never gained any weight or experienced acne. My periods last about 4 days, previously before using the pill they lasted much longer. I usually experience cramps and bloating the day before and the day I get my period. My cramps have always been pretty bad even before I began using birth control, so I don't think it is caused by the pill. I do recommend this pill for people who are looking to use it as a form of birth control and a way to regulate the menstrual cycle. Unfortunately I must switch pills due to insurance coverage."

"Back in 2017, I was switched to Viorele because Walgreens said my insurance no longer covered Azurette. I kept complaining to my OBGYN about the massive migraine I would get monthly before my period. I literally felt like my brain was on fire and I was getting stabbed in the head. This would last into the next day and nothing would help me. I’ve gained weight from then until now about 60lbs. After all of this time, I finally figured out that my OB was indeed sending an Rx for Azurette and Walgreens was too lazy to order it after being on it for 5 years prior. They were just replacing it with Viorele. I raised a complaint and have been back on Azurette for a month now. The irritability is almost gone, depression is leaving, weight is slowly going back down. This is by far the worst BC out there!"

"I’ve only been on viorele for a few months. I would recommend this brand only for period regulation. Other than that NOTHING ELSE! When taking this birth control, I have been nothing but tired, had loss of appetite, moody and have had the lowest sex drive EVER! Most importantly if you have a history of depression (DO NOT TAKE). I’m going to be done with my last pack starting tomorrow, I will also be contacting my doctor for other bc methods or I might try some natural remedies to jump start my period. But just keep in mind, at the beginning of your period When using this bc your emotional and mental health will be AT AN ALL TIME HIGH! Good luck"

"I absolutely LOVE this pill!! I kept having to try different types of combination pills and they were all making me extremely hormonal/emotional and break out the worst I ever have. Finally I’ve found the pill that works well with my body!! I highly recommend it"

"I didn't like Viorele at all! Had the worst side effects! I felt nauseous the first month I took it. When I started the pill, I started having IBS symptoms! I thought I actually had it but when I stopped taking the pill, all IBS symptoms went away! Lots of GI cramping and diarrhea no matter how clean I ate. Lastly, it ruined my sex drive. Was not interested in sex whatsoever. Highly do not recommend taking this pill!"

"I’ve been taking Viorele for 4 years now (I’m 33 yrs old). Overall I really like this pill. Before this pill, I used to take Lolo and I went crazy with that pill (depression, suicidal thoughts, etc). I’ve always been a very happy person so I knew it was the pill making me crazy. Pros: When I switched to Viorele, depression went away almost right away, I started to lose weight at first, no mood swings, my periods regulated and my skin is 10/10. Cons, zero sex drive, 1 year down after starting taking it I yo-yo and started gaining weight at a fast pace (30lbs heavier) no kids, never been pregnant) even tough I’ve been eating the same and I’m active as I used to be. I am constantly bloated and sluggish. I’ve tried working out a little more but it’s extra hard losing any weight at all. I decided to take a break from birth control to see my body’s natural full potential and to see if it’s the birth control or just age. I’ll keep you posted 3-4 months from now."

"This Viorele brand was my knight in shining armor. The brand I was on previous to it made me SO depressed. I was emotional and sad for literally no reason so I switched to this brand. This brand is effective for me as a contraceptive which is why I need it and it regulates my periods. I get my period for 4-5 days and it always started in the morning. The only issue I have is that it makes me nauseous. I’ve been on this pill for 1 1/2 years and I still get nauseous from it. I got nauseous from the other brands I’ve been on so I think I just have to get used to it, but this brand didn’t make me crazy hormonal so it was the best option. My sex drive is non-existent, though. So that’s a bummer. Nausea and sex drive are the only difficulties I deal with."

"This pill served its function, it helped my acne, periods and of course prevented pregnancy. I was on this pill for over a year and my sex drive was non existent. It got to a point where it took a toll on my relationships, my depression and self esteem. Now that I've been off the pill for about six months my libido is slowly coming back but its not like it used to be."

"This birth control saved me from acne and painful long periods. The only problem is that my sex drive is non existent. I’m literally dead down there I feel like a doll every time I have sex with my boyfriend because I can't stand him all over me which it wasn’t a problem before, we’ve always been very active. Definitely quitting on this pill."

"I’ve been on Viorele for 4 months. At first all was great. But then I started having severe side effects. First was painful, cystic hormonal acne and I’ve never struggled with acne. Then slow sex drive, like zero which has impacted my relationship with my partner. I noticed I was having severe PMS, depression, anxiety a week before my period. Now it’s turned into full blown panic attacks which I’ve never experienced before and it’s scary. I feel fatigued, depressed, anxious, dizzy, and weak all the time. I do not feel like myself and it’s really impacted my life. I also gained 15 pounds even though I eat pretty healthy and workout. I would NOT recommend this BC. It’s horrible. I can’t believe it’s even on the market. Beware!"

"I’ve been taking Viorele since March 2018. Before that, I spent 3 months on Blisovi fe which was horrible (recurring BV and experienced anhedonia the whole time). I switched to Viorele and it was awesome. I gained weight (from 125 to 140, but I should weigh 135-140 anyways), my moods are better. I take it to manage my ADHD in tandem with stimulants since unmanaged periods can worsen symptoms. I have occasional long-lasting breast aches, and bloating after eating. I’ve been considering switching again because it takes 2-3 days for my period to come, then it lasts 7 days and I won’t start a new pack until I’m totally done (because every other time I tried while actively menstruated I then spotted for the entire pill cycle, and I use it as an extended cycle of 9 weeks!). The last 4 months I’ve also been more prone to crying or being enraged, like “I read a sad story and I burst into tears”. Since I take the pill to manage my emotions this isn’t really the desired results."

"In the time I’ve been taking this birth control pill I’ve had a normal 3-4 day period. No acne and no noticeable weight gain. There were some negative side effects I had a low sex drive and recently constant panic attacks. There were days when I would just be at home and I started to cry for no reason and I had no control over it. I would also get irritated easily and there’d be days I just wouldn’t want to talk to my boyfriend even though he didn’t do anything. Overall it’s effective but will be switching to another brand because it seems to be affecting my relationship."
