Cyproheptadine for Anorexia "On Periactin (cyproheptadine) pills 3X per day since 11/22/15. Since then, I have gained 22 pounds as of 12/13/15. These pills work wonders for people with poor appetite and eating habits. Being small most of my life, I never thought it was possible for me to get over 110 pounds, but these pills had me eating whole cakes in one day. I'm so serious! I eat two Big Macs instead of one with extra Mac sauce, just everything and a lot of it. I'm loving the way this 132 looks on me at 5'3"."

Cyproheptadine for Anorexia "I have always been thin my whole life & tried everything to gain weight. I hate skinny jokes. Still at the age of 31, and you would think 5 kids would have given me some weight, smh. No. So I asked my doctor to prescribe me something. So far, I've been using them for 2 weeks now and I've gone from 100 to 112. I'm supposed to take one at bedtime, but I take them 2-3 times a day, and it literally increases my appetite, which I barely had before. I'm hungry all the time, especially when I wake up in the morning and after dinner. It's a must for a late-night snack or mini meal. I'm really satisfied with my results, my only complaint would be the sleeping too much. I had to start taking half and half of the 4mg because they knock you out for hours. Hope this helps :-)"

For Anorexia "I've been skinny my whole life basically. I'm 5'4", 18 years old, and weigh only 98 pounds. I asked my doctor if there was anything I could do to gain at least 10 pounds so I could feel healthier and better about myself. She told me to just learn to love myself more, but I guess she didn't understand that I love everything about me, I would just love to put on some extra pounds. Well, I started taking these last night, and I would highly recommend NOT taking these if you have somewhere to be or something to do. My appetite skyrocketed, and I ate everything in sight, but when I'm at least a month into these, I'll update on everything."

Cyproheptadine for Anorexia "I have been using this for 4 years now, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to gain weight. However, it makes you feel very sleepy and hungry, but if you are going for that smoking hot body, you need to exercise, so you would only gain weight in necessary areas."

Cyproheptadine for Migraine "Stopped 95% of my migraines. I found my migraines were related to allergies to egg and dairy - I think a lot of people don't check for this. Anyway, Periactin has been amazing, can make you a bit hungry at night, but who cares. Try it if your Dr. says it's for you."

Cyproheptadine for Migraine "I was prescribed Periactin to help contain severe migraines and have found it very effective. After taking two tablets a day for a week, I thought that maybe my migraines had been cured and stopped taking them-unfortunately, my headache came back within about one and a half days. I am now taking regular doses again and have not had a single headache to complain of. However, the increased appetite is an unfortunate side effect."

Cyproheptadine for Migraine "My 4-year-old was diagnosed with migraines (3-4 per month with vomiting and other symptoms). Given Periactin. Has had quite an increase in appetite and thus weight gain. It's difficult as a parent to balance the weight gain and social issues with that. Will try going off Periactin in summer per neurologist. Hopefully, the migraines will stay away, and she will be able to lose some of the weight."

For Migraine "My doctor swapped me onto this medicine because I was getting married and hoping to have a more 'baby-friendly' medicine in case I got pregnant in the near future. On cyproheptadine, I felt like the medicine took some of the edge off my chronic migraines. The intensity lessened, but I saw no significant change in migraine frequency. I was taking 12 mg per day. But oh, the side effects! First, I felt this perpetual restless agitation. Second, I was hungry absolutely all the time. I have a great deal of self-control and was able to keep things at bay for a while, but my weight kept creeping up. In 6 months, I gained 15 lbs (my normal, very stable weight is 120 lbs, so this was a lot for me). Eventually, I decided this one wasn't for me."

Cyproheptadine for Anorexia "Being small my whole life, I thought I’d be small forever. I tried everything I could to gain weight and nothing worked. Until I decided to try medication, and that’s why I tried Periactin. Before starting Periactin, I weighed 104, and in a month and a half (no joke), I gained twenty pounds! Forever grateful for this medicine. The first week leaves you drowsy, and once the medicine regulates you're fine, it just gives you this constant placebo, you’re hungry, and boy does it make you eat."

Cyproheptadine for Urticaria "While taking this stuff, I began to have an insatiable appetite. My mouth is almost always dry, and my ears will have a screeching noise. It puts me to sleep within 20 minutes and is hard to shake off in the mornings, much worse than Benadryl. It is playing an effective role in controlling the chronic hives I have had for close to a year. Although I don't enjoy any of the side effects, I do thoroughly enjoy not having hives all the time! I have a much better quality of life since I've begun this new prescription!"

For Migraine "My daughter, age 9, was having 3 to 4 migraines a week for over a year, so her neurologist put her on this medication. It has helped tremendously! She has maybe 1 or 2 a month now. We are now weaning her off of it, hoping her migraines don't come back full swing. She does seem to be more tired since she started taking it, but it did not interfere with her daily life. Her appetite did increase, but this wasn't an issue for her because she struggles to gain weight. She has gained about 5 pounds in the 6 months she's been taking it."

For Migraine "This medicine has eliminated my 11-year-old's daily headaches. Also, this medicine has increased her appetite slightly. Before beginning this medicine, she was below the second percentile for weight. Now she is slowly gaining-somewhere between the fifth and tenth percentile. A great side effect for us!"

For Anorexia "I am a very slim girl. 21 years old. Normally 100-110 pounds. Unhappy with my current weight. I didn't have much appetite and feel very full with just a couple of bites. I started cyproheptadine on 2/3 weighing 106 lbs. Today, 2/8, I am 111.5 lbs. The first 3-4 days the pill makes you very, very sleepy. Fight through it, as it goes away after the first few days. Cyproheptadine does make you feel super hungry and removes the full feeling. You must eat if you want to gain weight. I am taking the pill 2-3 times a day, 4mg. I do believe this works. I will post more updates in a month."
