For High Blood Pressure "I started with a low dose of 0.75 mcg and slowly increased. Then I felt something very strange and uncomfortable: shakiness, anxiety, confusion (moderate). Also, I'm noticing that this may lead to an ADDICTION!"

For ADHD "I was prescribed this for sleep, since I take Adderall in the morning and my job had gotten so crazy lately. I would come home and didn’t feel like I could actually relax. So I was prescribed a dose of 0.1 mg ER at bedtime. By the second time, my anxiety had gone through the roof, and I felt like if I fell asleep, I wouldn’t wake up! Some people tried to tell me that it was just in my head and that I should give it a chance, but I honestly think I’m too young to be taking a blood pressure medication, and I never want to feel that way again. Xanax felt safer than that medication..."

For Anxiety "I was prescribed clonidine .1 mg to help with the high levels of anxiety and blood pressure associated with quitting cannabis after years of dependence. I’ve taken it twice a day for two days, and now I feel hollow and weak. I feel like I’m not fully conscious, and my anxiety levels are much higher than before taking this medication. I’m at a point in the detox process where anxiety should be going away, so this pill is a very unpleasant surprise. It was effective at lowering blood pressure until the anxiety took over."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I started to take clonidine for alcohol withdrawal. It worked very well. I ended up staying on it for two years for sleeping. What I noticed is that now it is causing me lots of problems. I cannot take it anymore. I had lots of extras and started to take an extra one a day for anxiety. It just made my anxiety even worse. I was not sure that it was the clonidine that was causing some pretty bad side effects: depression, irritability, shaking, stress, changes in thinking, vision changes, general unwell feeling. For me, it was tolerable, but for some reason, I cannot take it anymore. Be careful on increasing dosing, as a small dose of 0.1 was not giving me many problems. I cannot even tolerate alcohol anymore. My body is basically rejecting all drugs. Most problems people have can be solved with changing your diet to a fruit and vegetable base. Juicing is an extremely powerful healer, as there are so many stories about how people have reversed just about everything with juice alone."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "Initially just took this as-needed for hot flashes (maybe ½ of a 0.1 mg pill twice a week), but things turned awful after I started taking it twice a day every day. After the first week and a half of that, I started noticing increased gas, nausea, headaches, low appetite, a general heaviness feeling of my whole body... then, a week after that came the awfully vivid dreams, sleeplessness, heightened anxiety, and irritability. I thought I was actually sick from something, but then realized it's from the consistent use of this medication. Will only take it from now on if I absolutely need it! Otherwise, it's staying in the back of my medicine cabinet."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I have been on clonidine 25 mcg for a couple of years for hot flushes. After some time, it didn't seem to be working, so I stopped them. One week later, I noticed my BP had shot up, and I started getting bad anxiety, which really frightened me (a side effect of stopping abruptly). However, my GP recommended I start again, increasing the dose every 2-3 days, which I did. I started taking 25 mcg once a day, then 25 mcg twice a day, then 50 mcg at night and 25 mcg in the morning. However, the anxiety came back, and the doctor advised I cut back down until the anxiety subsides. I now take 25 mcg twice a day but am still a little anxious. I'm hoping my system will settle and my anxiety goes. It has been a real struggle, yet before I stopped taking them, not a sign of anxiety at all."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I have been taking clonidine for 10 years now. I am 63 this year, yes I started hot flushes when I was 32, which seem to be a family thing. I used to take two at night for a number of years, then just one the past 3 years, then went down to just half of the 25 mg, and I have been doing this for around 6 weeks now. Hot flushes are hitting me bad now, needed to come off them because I only got around 3-4 hours of sleep a night due to nightmares all the time. I feel so strange trying to come off due to the dizziness and strange feeling that keeps passing through my body, which is horrible and causing a lot of anxiety now. I feel so strange in myself."

For Anxiety "I was introduced to this drug when I detoxed from prolonged use of alcohol. It has been a wonder worker for me, both then and still today. I am able to control my anxiety, get quality sleep, and manage occasional blood pressure spikes and stress-induced overwhelm. If you are considering stopping drinking, this drug is a game changer."

For Anxiety "Clonidine worked great for about a week, then my anxiety kicked into overdrive. I felt I was going to go nuts. I began completely not well and felt I was at risk. Very scary situation!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "How many mg are people taking? I have been on Oxy and Morphine for 15 years. I take 3-4 30 mg Oxy and 2 100 mg Morphine a day for back pain and fibromyalgia. I want to wean down, but my dependence just isn't allowing it. Sweating, cramping, anxiety, relentlessness, and everything else. I have a bunch of clonidine I used to take, but it is 0.1 mg. If I want to use it to wean myself off these meds so they are all I can think of instead of the pain, how much should I take? 6'1" 300 lbs. Thanks, all."
