Klonopin (clonazepam) "I am a middle-aged man who has had anxiety my whole life. In addition, I have a very stressful job. About three years ago, my wife convinced me to see a doctor. I had never taken any sort of anti-anxiety medication previously. The doctor prescribed Klonopin but was very adamant about taking it only as needed. The prescription says 1 mg, twice a day. But I only take, on average, two pills a week when I'm really stressed. As many people here have said, it started out great, then faded with time. Although it definitely helps, it's not pleasant. It's almost as if it makes me so sleepy I'm too tired to be stressed. Two years ago, I would have given it a 9. I still recommend it. Other than sleepiness, I have no other adverse effects."

"This medicine is a godsend if you do not have addictive qualities. I thank God that my tolerance to this drug does NOT increase. I have taken higher doses that would cause non-users severe amnesia (2-4mg), and they actually do not work hardly any better than just a simple .5mg dose. If you are struggling with anxiety, I would highly recommend taking this with perhaps Celexa, and do not think twice about trying a regimen of 3 times per day. Yes, in the morning it does not cause me drowsiness. Clonazepam saved my life: got rid of rapid mood swings, gave me hope that I could calm down, and no intense withdrawals or cravings. Saved me from having to take antipsychotics for agitation and saved my marriage. The prescription guidelines for this drug are too harsh because of the general drug crisis and short-acting benzos. The prescribing guidelines specifically say that it does help a certain population with daily use, your average doctor simply doesn't want to deal with you. Blessings to all."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I was prescribed Klonopin/Clonazepam after experiencing debilitating anxiety attacks after a close family member was diagnosed with cancer. At first, doctors put me on Zoloft, which made me feel like a complete zombie and didn't relieve my anxiety at all. I quit Zoloft after 3 weeks and switched to therapy and Clonazepam as needed. The first time I took Clonazepam was like being instantly transported from anxiety attack hell to a soothing vacation. It was the first real relief I had in 2 months. 3 years later and I still have a prescription for 0.5 mg as needed for anxiety attacks. I get a bottle of 30 about twice a year. The drug just really works well for anxiety. Makes you feel totally calm and normal."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "You don't need it. It helped at first. After about a year of regular use, it stopped helping and instead made me very angry. By then, I was taking around 5 mg/day and had a long taper ahead of me to ease the hellish physical dependency. You don't want the taper. You don't want to numb your feelings with this horrible tranquilizer. You are worth more, and you have more in you than you want to believe when you sign up for this cop-out nightmare."

"I was on 0.5 - 1 mg Klonopin daily for GAD and panic disorder for 6.5 years. Knowing what I know now about benzodiazepines, I'm not sure how my doctors ever let this fly. They should only be prescribed for short-term use (or on a PRN basis only), and certainly not daily use for years on end. Withdrawals were a nightmare, and it took months for me to feel back to normal again. When people talk about the withdrawals, they aren't joking... and this was with a slow and steady taper!! Benzos like Klonopin absolutely serve a purpose and work very well, just make sure you take it daily short-term or, if you are on it for a prolonged period of time, only as needed!"

Klonopin (clonazepam) "This is much much better and get a much better calming feeling from even Valium. My doctor had me on Valium since I was 12 to 16, and I even took it into my 20s, 5 mg 3 times per day. I was never hooked on it and even took Valium vacations so I wouldn't get hooked on it. But Klonopin works so much better! It makes you feel happy and loved inside, not the fake kind of loved either, but really nice warm feelings of pure love and gentleness. My mom died 2 years ago, and this is the only medicine that helps calm me down and come back to being happy again. Thank God for Klonopin."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "This is the only medication that has ever taken away my anxiety completely. I was on it for 5 months and decided to try to quit the medication, and it was the worst experience of my life. I now feel like I can't function anymore. My performance at work is slipping, and I feel like I am losing my grip with my general anxiety disorder. I have tried Celexa, Zoloft, Lexapro, and Remeron with no luck. This medication was a godsend, and when I was taking it, I was only taking 0.5mg 1x a day. I did not feel like increasing the dose, nor did I feel like I was addicted to it. I did not have a bad withdrawal coming off of it either, other than my anxiety has returned to the same levels it was prior to the medication. This medicine was a miracle for me."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "Been taking benzodiazepines for nearly 10 years now. Started with 1mg of Lorazepam once daily, but it stopped working after about 2 years. I got prescribed Clonazepam 1mg twice daily. Worked like a charm for 5 years, then stopped having any effect. Still, Clonazepam is amazing compared to Lorazepam. This is an amazing medication. I was prescribed an up-dose (2mg three times daily), but I usually only took one pill a day or two, because 2mg is very strong. I was also prescribed Xanax to take along with Clonazepam due to having a panic disorder as well as generalized anxiety, but after about a year I decided that the Xanax was pretty useless (and tasted like wet chalk), so I asked my psychiatrist to stop prescribing it. Just Clonazepam. It's great."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I was prescribed 3mg a day but don't want to take that much so I am trying hard to taper to 2mg. I am at 2.25mg. I still sometimes feel a little bit of anxiety, not real bad, but catch myself starting to get in my head. Then I will breathe and talk myself out of my head. But why can't the medicine just keep me out of my head all the time? I never had any anxiety or panic disorder, I have always had manageable obsessive-compulsive disorder. Will I ever feel like me again? I know if I am not careful, I could become homebound and just sit and waste. I have a young daughter, and it is not fair for her. The Klonopin does work, but I feel like I can feel it wear off or that it is coming time for my next dose. Or is that all in my crazy head."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "Klonopin has been instrumental in getting my anxiety disorder under control. I take 0.25 milligrams three times a day. Taking 0.5mg at once is too much and causes me to be a space cadet. It doesn't work as well on my rare panic attacks, but I have found other ways to cope with breathing exercises and such. Without it, I was nearly non-functioning and about to slip into a deep depression. It has leveled my mood swings and just made life much more bearable (even joyful!). I would much rather have dependency on this medicine and be happy than feel that I am constantly in crisis (and occasionally suicidal)."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I've had anxiety for over 30 years. I'm in my 50s. I've been on Effexor and a few other antidepressants, which helped some, but sexual side effects were weird. I reluctantly started Klonopin about 6 months ago but was afraid of the addictive properties of it. So I started on a real low dose, 0.125 mg, once a day. Some days I take another 0.125 mg, totaling 0.25 mg per day. I'll admit it helps a lot. It makes me feel like myself again. It doesn't stop the scary thoughts and stupid fears that I have, but I don't react as poorly to them. I'm hoping I don't have to increase my dosage, but figure I have a lot of room to go up if I do. Still wish I didn't have to take them but this winter was rough and I needed some help until the sun shines again."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "Klonopin has been a wonderful medication for me. I'm a young male who gets social anxiety and overall anxious feelings about situational matters that I just couldn't stop. Well, I take 0.5 mg of Klonopin once daily and haven't had a hint of social nor general anxiety since. I can now focus on school, interact with others with confidence, sleep well at night, and enjoy my life again. The medication gives you a steady sense of calm and tranquility without making you feel sedated (at least it does for me), and its effects last between 6-8 hours! Xanax worked as well, but it made me too sedated to adequately perform my daily schedules, plus didn't last as long."

"OMG. I was prescribed Klonopin 2 mg three times a day for almost 15 years. I wanted to get off in 2019, so I asked the doctor to begin tapering down. In 9/2019, I was at 1 milligram a day - went cold turkey. HOLY MOLY!! Welcome to the worst time in my life for almost an entire month! In bed the entire time - shaking/sweating/convulsing/etc. Thought I would surely be the end of me one particular day when blood pressure went to the stratosphere and pulse was 180 ALL DAY! Think about your heart beating almost 200 beats per minute from 4 AM to 11 PM. I was going to call 911 but was so delirious I couldn't! This is hands down NOT a drug to take for a long period of time, YET not one doctor ever said a word to me!"

"This is a miracle drug for me. I was on it for 7 years and slowly worked my way off of it 9 weeks ago, taking 3 months to get off of it. I had the past 9 weeks be the most awful; it took me till last week to figure out it was anxiety. I could eat, sleep, or concentrate. Within 8 hours of my doctor writing me the script, I was back to my normal self!"

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I started taking this drug 10 years ago because I was always stressed and was waking up at 3 am. Started on 0.5 mg at bedtime, combined with Trazodone, and it would knock me out within 15 minutes - I almost had to rush to the bed sometimes. It was prescribed to take another dose in the morning, but I only did this once, as it made me very sleepy driving to work. I later discovered the Trazodone wasn't doing anything and now just take the Klonopin at 0.75 mg at bedtime, and it gradually puts me to sleep and keeps me there. If I wake in the middle of the night and would normally stress about stuff, I am able to fall back to sleep till morning. Helps with work anxiety during the day, too. It has been a miracle drug for me!"

"This medication kept me away from killing myself for a long time. It sucks that my psychiatrist stopped prescribing me this medication. I'm 23, suffering from treatment-resistant major depression and severe anxiety since the age of 18. This medication gave me hope and the will to live and work through my depression since other meds haven't helped. But since I no longer use it, I'm back to my bad habits: not sleeping, binge eating, wanting to kms every single day, living with heart palpitations and hopelessness. I can't even leave my bed anymore. This medication helped me to leave my bedroom, take a shower, go out, and do daily social tasks. Without it, I'm dead."

"Clonazepam is the best medicine I've ever taken. I've been dealing with anxiety most of my life. Clonazepam makes me more relaxed, eliminates my racing, worrying thoughts, and lets me get back to enjoying life again. It even gets rid of my dizziness brought on by stress."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I take 2mg Klonopin 4-5 times daily along with Adderall XR 20mg 2 each morning. The combination of the two works great. I suffer from Bipolar disorder, Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and ADHD. I would get so bad I would lock myself in my room at home and cry, afraid to speak to people, just full-blown terrible anxiety. Klonopin is very effective if taken properly. It's a miracle medicine. I used to just be on Xanax 1mg 5 times daily, and it started making me angry and aggressive. Some people react differently to medications. Klonopin controls my mood, stops the worst anxiety you ever experienced in its tracks. Wonderful medication with just drowsiness as a side effect."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I can take 0.5 mg twice a day as needed. Some days I don't take it. It helps so much, even with my depression. I take one of these if I'm planning on killing myself because I'm suicidal every day, and the urge will pass once this calms me down. I take it for anxiety, panic attacks, and twitches/seizures."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I take 4mg of Klonopin per day. I have done so for more than two years. I went to a clinic where a 'no benzo' policy was established, and I was taken off the medicine. I went through two years of agony. Neurontin was given as a substitute... it made me depressed and nauseous. I finally had to go to a private doctor to be put back on my Klonopin and am returning to normal. The only issue I would mention is that it is not a fast-acting medicine."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "21 y/o female, work in the medical field, severe anxiety for about 5 years now, always been hesitant about taking meds for fear of medication dependency. In the past year, my anxiety has gotten to the point where I am isolated & developing depression. I finally broke down and was prescribed Klonopin 0.5mg daily as needed. It takes the edge off and gives me a genuine good feeling while allowing me to keep a clear head and keep my patients safe. I was marijuana dependent as a teen because it improved my moods the same way, so I see the potential for dependency here. I am seeing a therapist and intend on using this until I learn other ways to cope. It does help you to think positively so you can begin your recovery. Great short-term drug."

"It has literally saved my life. I got hit rather hard with extreme anxiety and depression, put me outta work for 4 years. Clonazepam has made my life, for the most part, normal again. But for some reason, they have made it out to be as addictive as OxyContin. This makes no absolute sense, not sure who would use clonazepam to get high. It does absolutely nothing but lower my anxiety to a controllable level. Doctors will not prescribe these anymore where I live. And my life is starting to roll outta control again. I lost my job a week ago because of the anxieties. Now my day-to-day is 'why am I even here?' Doctors need to take mental illness much more seriously. To explain how debilitating anxieties are is almost impossible unless you have them as well. I am scared if a doctor won’t help me soon. I’m 50 and not a junkie in any way, shape, or form. I just need my brain to shut up enough to live a somewhat normal life. Great to hear how many people it has helped."

"I hate that benzos have such a bad reputation. Clonazepam has been a lifesaver for me. I don't want to go on it daily as I don't feel like I have anxiety constantly. I was prescribed Xanax for 3 years as needed and never had any withdrawal issues as I truly only took it as needed. I never wanted to take more. Xanax is short-acting though, so my doctor switched me to clonazepam and it is perfect for me. It is longer-lasting and I don't feel the wear off. I still take it as needed and it truly has gotten me through periods of extreme anxiety."

The drug works great for me, keeps my anxiety away, and I feel more on a normal level. It also helps me sleep. I only take it PRN now, and I feel it saved my life. Anxiety is a terrible thing to deal with."
