Klonopin (clonazepam) for Panic Disorder "I have been prescribed many nerve medications but now that I am on Klonopin, I feel like a brand new person. I actually feel like getting out and being more social with people. A big thanks to the people who made the little nerve pill called Klonopin. You have made my life so much more worth living. I actually want to be around my family and friends now. Thank you very much for making my life so much easier."

For Burning Mouth Syndrome "I have suffered with BMS (burning mouth syndrome) for over forty (40) years, without a cure, perhaps induced by toothpastes meant to treat tooth sensitivity. Most practitioners I visited had no idea of what it was nor how to treat it, but please bear with me. There, this past December (2018), my dermatologist prescribed Clonazepam tablets, dissolved in the mouth for three minutes, then spit, three times daily, as already mentioned on another thread. Additionally, 1-2 drops of Tabasco Sauce (YES! Tabasco Sauce - CAPSAICIN) in four tablespoons. Swish and spit. “Increase the number of drops of Tabasco in the same amount of water slowly as tolerated (one drop at a time).” I now use 12 drops in a cup of water, kept in a flask, just like the neighborhood alky. By now, 6-24-2019, the improvement is hard to believe. Almost miraculous, folks. And soooooo grateful to my dermatologist at the Mayo Clinic. Cheers! Enjoy life, do good deeds, share your blessings and read all you can, especially classical literature. Hopefully this will help cure your burning mouth syndrome."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medicine saved my life! I was depressed and suicidal because of severe OCD. I had excruciating headaches, 24/7 OCD, and the anxiety and thoughts were relentless. I tried 12 different medications which didn't help. When clonazepam was finally added, I literally woke up the next day (after twelve years of intense suffering) feeling completely normal. It was a miracle drug. I stayed on 3 mg a day for 20 years and never had another OCD episode until recently (after a period of high stress). The OCD is back again, though not as severe as before. I honestly believe a higher dose would help (after being on the same dose for 20 years, I've likely built up a tolerance), but, sadly, cannot find a doctor to raise the dose. Instead, I'm on several low-dose antipsychotics which have awful symptoms, including heart issues. I've had no health issues with clonazepam and wish I could try a higher dose."

For Insomnia "I have suffered from insomnia most of my adult life. Like many here, I was prescribed clonazepam 1-2 mg at night. I have never increased the dose after years of use. In fact, my doctor recommended that I go down by 0.5 mg as often as I felt comfortable to do so in order to reduce the chances of becoming tolerant to the medicine. Works like a charm after many years of use. I wish there was something else, but this has become the best for my insomnia. I tried many other things."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "I've been on it for 2 years and YES it is a great drug to help with anxiety. Without it, my life wouldn't be the same at all. It is very hard to come off of. But you have to make a choice to live with the pain of anxiety or be addicted to something that fixes the problem. Neither one is great, but I don't like pain."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "I have generalized anxiety disorder. Before I was prescribed Klonopin, I was on the verge of losing my job, house, even my family. I couldn't stop worrying, stressing, and overwhelming myself. I had no energy to even play with my kids. Once I started taking this medicine, it brought me back to living and enjoying life, family, and even performing better at work. I really recommend this medicine if you have generalized anxiety disorder; it works like a miracle."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "Anger. Anxiety. Stomach in a knot. Wanting to die. Then I take my Klonopin and a warm feeling envelops me. I'm suddenly calm. I'm reasonable and rational. The violence in my heart temporarily melts away. I'm not angry anymore. I take a short vacation from misery. Then I blissfully drift off to sleep. I won't take it often because I don't want to become addicted. But when things get unbearable, my Klonopin soothes my racing mind."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "I have tried every medication under the sun for anxiety! I was born anxious, I have always said. My doctor put me on Klonopin as more of a long-term anxiety medication in her mind. It was such a miracle for me. I was prescribed 1mg x 2 at night, if needed for anxiety and insomnia, at the time of my divorce. I found I was able to wake up the next day without feeling groggy if I had taken it the night before. When the panic and anxiety set in, it allowed me to calm down and get through the hardest moments. I only take it once in a while these days, but it truly helped me."

For Benzodiazepine Withdrawal "HORRENDOUS drug. Became severely dependent on it over the course of 4 years and didn't even know it. Didn't take it every day. Basically, I felt fine, until I didn't. Now I live with debilitating physical and mental symptoms. It has cost me my livelihood and living is hard work most days. Trying to get off by micro-tapering 18 months now and using diazepam to do so. It is still agony. DO NOT take BENZOS. I took responsibly. Clonazepam is extremely potent in particular. Avoid like the plague - it can destroy your life."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "A+. Couldn't function without it. Takes away that tense feeling in my brain. I don't have panic attacks, but I deal with a lot of anxiety that brings on severe irritability. Just one 5mg pill in the morning and one when I get home from work, and I'm free from all that. I can live a normal life and not let my anxiety ruin my relationships, work, etc. Lasts longer than Xanax and more effective, in my opinion."

For Anxiety "Clonazepam works wonderfully for me. I was on Xanax (Alprazolam) for many years, but it wore off way too fast. I found myself watching the clock for my next dose. Eventually, Xanax didn't help at all. My Psychiatrist put me on Clonazepam (the same dose as I was taking off the Xanax). What a positive difference! I take one dose in the morning and another dose in the evening. Clonazepam has stopped the racing thoughts and constant worry. It doesn't wear off in between doses like Xanax did. I function so well again! I feel 'normal'. I feel like I felt before I ever started taking Xanax. The only downside to taking Clonazepam are the scary stories online about how Clonazepam is the hardest drug to stop taking. The withdrawal symptoms are 99% of the reason that I'm still taking it."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "Have had increasingly severe restless legs syndrome for 45 years. Finally started using Requip about 12 years ago, and got relief from RLS at night, but had to be doing something physical or at least on my feet all day to keep it under control. Got up to 3 mg at bedtime, but that was causing horrible nasal congestion every morning. My doc suggested clonazepam, and the effect was absolutely amazing! Wonderful, solid sleep every night. But, even better, the RLS disappeared during the day, as well. Daytime movies, meetings, and travel all now possible for the first time in decades! Need only 0.2 mg each evening, and no adverse side effects or tolerance increase after more than a year. This truly changed my life."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "I have been taking Klonopin for 20 years. It all started because I lost function of both my inner ears and had no balance. The ear specialist concluded that there was no treatment available for this condition, so my stress and anxiety level landed me in a pain clinic where medicine, exercise, counseling, and diet did the trick. In three days, I was back to normal. What I later found out is that Clonazepam was not only very effective for my balance disorder, but it took the anxiety away. Today I take 2mg a day in two or three doses and feel completely normal. When stress increases, I slightly increase the dosage. I take it with Lexapro so as not to end up in depression. The secret, for me, is daily exercise (walking) and Clonazepam/Lexapro 10mg."

For Benzodiazepine Withdrawal "I started taking clonazepam after back-to-back panic attacks in the middle of the night that kept me awake. I started taking 1 mg a day in late 2014. I moved to a different state last January and could not obtain a prescription. So, I started taking a lower amount to make it last. I felt I was losing my mind mainly due to no sleep. I went back to my home state a couple of times and got a prescription with intentions to wean off. Now, 8 months later and taking 0.5mg every other day. I try to go 2-3 days in between, but I get terribly sick. I've been depressed. Can't get things moving with my career (self-employed). I can't take it anymore! I intend to start cutting the doses to 0.25mg a day instead of 0.5mg every other day. I think I will take advice to put this in a solution or use a nail file as I have read. Please post your updates with your weaning process, and I will do the same. It helps. Pray you all can get yourself off this junk."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Panic Disorder "I started on Klonopin 5 years ago when I was experiencing uncontrollable panic attacks that nearly cost me my job. Prior to that, I was taking Xanax. Xanax works great short term (but is clearly addictive and many people are prone to abuse it). I explained my concerns to my doctor and was prescribed 1 mg of Klonopin three times a day, which worked wonders but decided to taper down over the past six months. I was able to get down to 1 mg once a day without any problems but it's really tough to get lower than that without experiencing significant withdrawal. People are correct in stating that it is very difficult to get off of completely, but like all meds, you have to weigh the pros and cons. I haven't noticed any side effects thus far, nor have I felt the need to increase my initial prescribed dose (actually decreased). If panic and anxiety are ruining your life, the downsides of Klonopin are vastly outweighed by the benefits it provides. Life is too short to live with unnecessary anxiety."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Panic Disorder "This drug is saving my life right now. It's a shame that the people who abuse it ruin it for those of us who get relief from debilitating issues from it, because many doctors just don't want to prescribe it now. I say, what's the point of having a drug if you can't use it to help people who need it."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "Please, please, please do your research before ever taking Klonopin or any drug in the benzodiazepine family. Klonopin has caused me great hardship and nearly cost me my life. And I am not alone - thousands of people have had horrific experiences with this drug. Please search 'benzo withdrawal' or similar to educate yourself. Looking back, my original anxiety was nothing compared to the torture I went through once I was addicted to Klonopin. And I am not through it yet. Words cannot explain the horror I went through. That is why I beg you to do your own research. Most doctors don't know or are in denial about the withdrawal effects of benzodiazepines. The stories you will find are not lies or exaggerations. Buyer beware! Please!!"

For Anxiety "I have been taking Clonazepam 0.5mg for about 10 years now. When my initial anxiety emerged, my doctor put me on Paxil. With Paxil, I was not myself and the side effects were horrible. Just this month, I had to take mental health leave from work due to being overwhelmed; I never had to do this before. The doctor tried putting me on Cymbalta, and the side effects trying to get on this drug were horrific, like a nightmare. I don’t know why doctors don’t listen. Clonazepam works 100% for me. They talk about the addictiveness of Clonazepam, but they never talk about the horrific side effects of antidepressants, going on and coming off those meds. I used to have panic attacks and anxiety even when on antidepressants, but once I was prescribed Clonazepam, I have not had a panic attack in 8 years."

For Anxiety "This is a great medication for me. It alleviates the cycle of negative thinking that spirals into a panic in my mind. I have 0.5 mg tabs. Sometimes I use 1/4, 1/2 or a whole one or in bad circumstances I take 2, or 1 mg. It takes about an hour to notice it working and I feel more relaxed over the next several hours as it is gentle. I honestly could probably use 1 mg or even 2 mg a day for how high my anxiety gets but I don't want to back myself in a corner with this drug. My advice, take it easy with them. Don't rush to one every time you feel a little anxious. But don't be afraid of something that can help you tremendously! Xanax worked the best for me and helped with anxious depression too. Klonopin is my 2nd most helpful, with Ativan being very very close. Tapering off can be done if you want or need to. But be kind to yourself, anxiety is awful in that it never sleeps."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Insomnia "I find that this medication works on insomnia when other drugs don't except for a true heavy duty narcotic sleeping pill. It also helps as a very mild tranquilizer for 24 hours, so it is spread throughout the day to calm anxiety attacks or the fight or flight effect. It is good even if you have bouts of depression because without sleep, your depression worsens. So I give this medicine a 10. I have been using it now for 3 years with no side effects. I am also on an antidepressant as well. But getting more than 3 hours of sleep a night is wonderful, especially without flashbacks."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Panic Disorder "I began taking Klonopin when it first came on the market in the 80s. When nothing else would even touch it, Klonopin stopped my severe anxiety and panic attacks completely within the first week. Klonopin gave me my life back. I never thought I would be anxiety and panic free but I was and still am. This drug continues to be a miracle for me. I was on 4 mg a day when my panic/anxiety was at its worst, but I am now on a low maintenance dose of 0.5 mg 2x a day. It's not for everyone, but for those who benefit from it, it's a godsend. Don't be afraid to try it. It changed my life for the better. Hands down, a miracle drug for me."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Anxiety "Have been taking 2 to 2.5 mg per day for many years. The only med that has alleviated my anxiety. Am 67 and have had the problem since childhood. Don't know why but it's too late to unravel. Suspect I'm wired that way or it's hereditary. Was very successful but life was a constant struggle until I got help at age 48. Would not want to be without it despite the doc's concerns about addiction. The horror stories about withdrawal are overblown. I wean off once in 6 weeks. No recurring issues. Therapy never had any lasting effect. Too late to consider stopping now and I don't know why I should. The trend against these meds is unfortunate."

Klonopin (clonazepam) for Panic Disorder "I would not be alive now if not for Klonopin, nor would I have been able to complete Graduate school. Anyone who has had panic disorder that literally freezes your mind and body into a state of never-ending terror knows. You are sure you will die. Mine started at age 28. I have been taking a low dose; 1 mg per day - 0.5 in the morning and before bed. If I feel one coming on, I take 1 mg of Ativan - happens a few times a month. Those who say it's as horrible and addictive as Heroin? Likely using it for generalized anxiety disorder and increasing irresponsibly. Those of us who suffer from the physical and mental terror of panic disorder and take the medication carefully - it's hard to hear others saying how dangerous it is. Anything misused is dangerous."

Klonopin (clonazepam) "I was diagnosed with bipolar II when I was about thirty. Panic attacks and episodes of mania are just a given aspect of the disorder. Clonazepam has effectively helped me to manage such episodes in a timely manner, usually about 15 minutes for it to kick in. They can also aid with sleeping when suffering from insomnia. I do not take them every day but only when needed. Since I have had them for a prolonged period of time, my dosage has had to be increased because my body did get used to them, but they are the most useful pill that I have to help manage my symptoms that I don't have to take daily."
