"I have had bad acne since I was 12. By the time I was about 20 I had tried many face washes and acne creams, and nothing worked. Some dermatologists only recommended taking strong oral medication, but the side effects were too severe and I did not want to take a chance. I went to a different dermatologist and was finally prescribed clindamycin 1% topical cream (twice a day) , and tretinoin .025% (once a day at night). I eventually went up to tretinoin .1%. I now do the weaker tretinoin every 3 days while the other days I use the stronger one. My skin has never been this clear - I rarely ever have even one pimple on my face. The only downside is that your skin gets really dry but if you use face masks and cream (especially Korean face masks ) the dryness goes away. I might get a few pimples during PMS but barely any, and only sometimes. I'm extremely pleased that I finally found something that works for me."

"I've started & still am, taking this medicine 12 weeks ago, along with minocycline. The fourth week I was using it I thought it got worse, but I kept with the product and over time I saw a major improvement from the first day I took it. It burned and dried out my face the first week, but after that my face was fine. Most of my acne is either gone, light red, or scars, so I'm going back to the dermatologist next week to see what they can do about it. I definitely recommend this product!"

"I have "backne," and this product works pretty good at keeping it from flaring up. My dermatologist recommended it over products such as Differin since it's so easy to spread -- even if you have hair back there. I don't notice any dryness or stomach problems. It does burn the first couple of times you use it, but that goes away. If you apply it to your back, make sure you also get some kind of tool to reach back there (unless you're lucky enough to have a significant other that will apply it for you). My dermatologist gave me a long stick with a pad on it. "

"Hi, I started developing acne when I move to USA, I do not know why but I could blame the food, environment, the hypothyoidism or an irritation after bleaching my hair or those brushes that a girl used on me that were dirty. Honeslty, I don't know. It has been a month already since I started with Clyndamicin 1% lotion day and night or sometimes in the middle of the day if I come back home early and I will be there for the rest of the day. I clean my face and do Clyndamicin. I have not gotten the same amount of acne that I used to, I still get some. My skin seems to be clearing up and I am getting less, so it is working. However, I still have 2 months to see. I am positive that will work but not sure what happens when I get off."

"I've used the benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin cream for 7 days and I officially quit!!! I can usually tough out any initial side effects but the way my skin /burns/ after applying moisturizer (BECAUSE IT DRIES THE HECK OUT OF MY SKIN - seriously my skin is red and scaly on my upper lip) is unbearable!!!!! I've never felt such a painful burn on my face in my life :("

"I really got slammed with acne this summer, and my mom was starting to worry because my forehead was covered in pimples. When I went to the doctor for my physical this year, my mom told her about the acne. I have tried many facial cleansers and products to no lasting effects. My doctor said she could prescribe me a lotion to help, so I took her up on the offer. Within a week, my acne had already cleared up. I haven't been on the treatment long but I do it every day and have had no bad side affects. My skin is clearer than it has been for months!"

"Im 13, and started using Clindamycin topical about a year and a month ago. My daily routine is using a cleanser to wash my face, apply the clindamycin topical in the morning and the moisturize. At night, its the same routine except a different topical. I am also taking an antibiotic twice a day every day. Last year, my acne WAS TERRIBLE. I was so insecure about it. The topicals and antibiotics helped, but very slowly. It's been over a year and my acne is still very bad. I have not missed one day of doing my routine morning and night, so I am growing impatient. I have done it for over a year and its so little improving my face. I also get chemcial peels every month to help the breakouts coming in. Terrible."

"My derm gave me this along with minocycline, I had it in the strongest strength and as the topical solution. stopped using going into 2 weeks because all it did was cause severe redness and irritation and made my pimples bleed (I never even popped them or anything) my skin looked horrible. I broke down the whole next week until my skin went back to normal. PS- It burns like heck"

"Prescribed the topical clindamycin to control minor acne in back and chest. Within 3 days I had broken out worse than I have ever in my life. It's so bad. I immediately stopped and 2 weeks later the acne is still terrible and not going away. Complete opposite of what was suppose to happen. If it doesn't clear up soon I may be going back to the derm."

"I’m 20 years old and have been having horrible acne breakouts. They are so red and inflamed. If I popped them then they would only get worse and multiply. My doctor prescribed me the 1% clindamycin phosphate pledgets. I used them every morning and night after washing my face. I did this for around 4 months. The pledgers only lasted me 1 month and it was getting pretty costly. I then switched to the 1% clindamycin phosphate gel and it has done wonders for my skin. I used to breakout all over my face and the pimples would never go away. Now I maybe get 3 small ones around the time of my period. But the topical also helps to reduce the redness and inflammation when my acne was super bad. I finally feel comfortable enough to leave my house without any makeup on. Only reason I give it a 9/10 is because I’ve noticed my skin is more shiny and oily."

"Works wonders for my acne, but it takes a while for positive results to occur. I use it twice a day for two weeks straight whenever I get a recurrence of breakouts. Works so much faster and better when used in conjunction with Benzoyl Peroxide. For convenience, I recommend BenzaClin, a double-action gel that contains both Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin as active ingredients."

"Wonderful. Takes awhile to work (2-3 weeks) but once it does it helps significantly. Works well for red, inflamed, cystic acne. I use the clindamycin phosphate 1% lotion—moisturizes a bit and doesn’t aggravate my very sensitive, dry skin. I feel it’s worth mentioning that I have eczema and it doesn’t bother that either. One bottle lasts me a couple months."

"I'm 24, male, I just want to tell my journey with this monster on my face.. hahaha. I thought someone cursed me, that's why I have had this freaking nodular acne on my face. My face was so clear before, it just started to break out when my shift changed at the graveyard. I had this horrible acne and I literally hate having this. I've tried so many treatments such as home remedies, rejuvenating set but it doesn't work. Then one day my friend advised me to go the my skin doctor to have myself checked and to treat this acne. So today It is my first day using this gel and I hope I'll get the best result like yours. I'll keep you posted. Cheer up to those people who's still suffering from acne, most specially the severe one."

"This was a terrible experience. The pharmacist warned me of the side affects but I just thought it would not affect me as other medicines have not. This stuff gave me diarrhea, cramps, and nauseous. My doctor had instructed me to take it for 7 days. After 1.5 days I could not stomach this. I called him and he told me not to take any more of this medicine. "

"Clindamycin gel is no more effective than using an over the counter acne medication. Your practitioner will likely couple this topical acne med with benzoyl peroxide (to avoid bacteria resistance). As always, consult with a doctor after 8-12 weeks of using this product. Didn't clear my acne but improved my skin."

"I use clindamycin to address shaving irritation and related break-out. The lotion works wonders. Usually within 3-5 days after use I can see a big improvement in shaved areas around my neck and chin. This medicine has solved my problem. My shaved skin looks and feels great even after shaving daily."

"I began to use Clindamycin PH 1% Gel and Sodium Sulfacetamide 10% and Sulfur 5% towards the end of the summer for 2 months for my issues with acne on my chin. I had bumps on other areas of my face but mostly concentrated in my chin. My acne its not severe but its always been an issue, and since I was 12 I always had black heads on my nose and chin. This gel did not work for I didn't notice any change on my face, the pimples, bumps and black heads remained the same, they became more noticeable. It was irritating on my skin and it made my skin extremely oily and since I wear makeup it became an issue. The cleanser I do enjoy, it clears your pores and my skin has never been softer but the gel I do not recommend"

"I'm a 31 year old mom of three, and had been experiencing the worst acne of my life for the past year. I've always had acne off and on since a teen, but the past year I had cystic acne along my chin line and under my jaw like nothing else. Painful. Embarrassing. My Doc prescribed this, in the liquid form that you pat on. I use it nightly every or every other night (along with a RX benzoyl peroxide cleanser first). One month down and acne cleared up almost immediately. I will continue using for maintenance of course. I'm sensitive to Retin A, this stuff though never leaves my skin dry or burned like Retin A did."

"I used clindamycin phosphate 1% GEL (on a clean face) and I got a rash on my face quickly. I then washed my face again, and the rash subsided. I then used clindamycin phosphate 1% LOTION, and the acne began to clear up quickly. I have been using clindamycin in lotion, gel, and the swab packets since about 2000, and it usually clears up my face very quickly, so I knew what to expect under the usual formula. The lump under the blemish sort of dissipates, and it goes away. I have an old tube of the gel and it does not cause a rash. It may be an allergy to any changes in the gel base. I will use allergy cream in future to see what is a zit, and what is the rash around the zit. They also usually tell you to use benzoyl peroxide soap once a month or it stops being effective. I found that to work. I used a coupon from the Dr's office."

"Have been using the lotion form of clindamycin for about a week. It's working wonderfully. The only drawback is that it makes my skin somewhat oily, but not enough to be a big problem. It's the only thing that I have used that's actually working so well."

"I’ve tried lots of different combinations of treatments for acne over the past 6 months, and nothing was working. I was on Trinessa-Lo birth control (said to help reduce acne; it didn’t), started Differin gel, tried more natural cleaners and facial treatments, etc. Absolutely nothing worked, until my doctor prescribed Clindamycin. As a disclaimer, she had me switch to a more hormonally-balanced birth control (Estarylla), continue to use Differin gel, and use Clindamycin on top of that all. But instantly after using the Clindamycin, I saw MAJOR results within 2 weeks. Just as a tip, however, DO NOT skip moisturizing your face, because this product is pretty drying. I recommend Differin brand moisturizer with SPF in it. My face is now nice and soft, and pretty much acne-free!"

"Works well when combined with Accutane. If you get dry skin, CereVe (availazble at CVS Pharmacy) is great because it's a very thick lotion. It has really cleared up all of my little pimples, but the large pimples still pop up. I use it once a day (at night)."
