Ciprofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "Despite all the side effects that are plaguing other users, I believe Cipro is worth a try - it is the most effective antibiotic I have been prescribed for UTI, and I experience little to no side effects. The only time I tried to take Macrobid, I experienced fever, nausea, muscle pain, dizziness, and had to call in sick to work last minute because I'd slept through the whole day prior. So considering alternatives, I trust Cipro for MY use."

Ciprofloxacin for Bladder Infection "I had to stop taking the medicine due to getting yellowing of the skin, fevers, nightmares, severe headaches, dizziness, hot flashes, restlessness, nausea, etc. The medicine was fine until about three days into it, then I began to feel worse, and it was even hard for me to breathe. I may be one of the select few who reacted this way, and I followed everything that I was told to do exactly."

Ciprofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "Got my urinary tract infection at 10 pm, and within an hour, I knew I was in trouble with the usual stinging and need to go to the bathroom, but it happened so fast, and before I knew it, I was bleeding quite heavily. Immediately went to emergency and was prescribed Cipro, within an hour, I was getting relief. I'm dizzy and have ringing in my ears, but very relieved the pain is subsiding, hopefully, the bleeding will stop soon."

For Bladder Infection "I am so tired! I don't feel like even breathing! My back hurts, my head hurts, dizzy, depressed, mad, sad, my bladder burns, I'm constantly running to the bathroom, and feel like rubbish! I will finish taking what I'm supposed to, but I think next time I'll ask if there's something else. This is crazy!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am 21, and I am extremely disappointed that I even took one pill. Since taking the pill, I have been experiencing dizziness and heart palpitations, had to revisit the ER literally the day after being prescribed this, and now need to be given a little heart monitor for 2 days. I have awful anxiety, and the side effects of this are bad anxiety?? I’m not even sure why I was prescribed this for my UTI if the side effects are so bad. I am upset at the lack of attention from the doctor at my local ER for not thinking this through. I am doing everything I can to get this out of my system, and I am NEVER taking this again."

For Bladder Infection "I've given bad reviews on drugs with awful side effects, but I must say this one worked very well for me. Had a very bad bladder/prostate infection with cloudy urine. Had a misdiagnosis, so the infection actually festered for 4 months. Body temperature rose and chills set in two hours after taking the first dose. This lasted for 4 days as my body (antibiotics) fought the infection. By day 5, I was feeling much better. By day 7, best I'd felt in many months. By day 10, urine was totally clear, no more pain, normal urine volume, and totally back to normal. What a relief. Benefits far outweigh some minor side effects (first day, some minor dizziness, little bit of 'brain fog' first few days) 500mg x 2 for 14 days."

Ciprofloxacin for Bladder Infection "I had a major bladder infection and was prescribed Cipro. I had diarrhea and dizzy spells the entire time I took this medicine. I told my new primary doctor to prescribe Amoxicillin. He told me that Cipro is better. My former doctor prescribed Amoxil, and I never had problems with that medicine."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Please do not take this. I was a 24-year-old healthy female and had a simple UTI. My doctor prescribed me Cipro for 3 days, twice a day. The 3 days I took this, I thought I was on another planet. I was walking around my house, bumping into walls, and my arms and legs felt numb and tingly. Two weeks later, and I am sure this has poisoned me. I have vertigo when lying in bed and have to sit up because I feel as though I'm going to be sick. I wake up having extreme nightmares and terrors that make me throw myself from one side of the bed to the other. My arms and legs are in constant pain-stabbing pains, tingling, numbness. My vision has been affected, and I'm constantly seeing black patches out of the corners of my eye. I look to see if something's there, and there isn't. I genuinely feel as though I'm going mental-I'm scared as anything after reading the reviews that this is my life now. Please do not take this for UTI or kidney infection-there are other medications out there."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I took ciprofloxacin 500 milligrams 2 times a day, and after 24 hours from starting this, I started feeling sick again and worse now after 3 days with aching muscles, dizziness, pain in urination, fever, nausea, and headache. But the doctor won't prescribe anything else for me until it is finished after 5 days, so I'm going to go into the emergency or medical center."

Ciprofloxacin for Diverticulitis "Taking Cipro made me almost sicker than the bout of pain. I couldn't function, slept most of every day. Developed thrush, heavily coated tongue. Staggering when walking, off balance at times, thinking process was not normal, crying jags for no reason. This drug in the class of quinolones causes CNS problems. I will never take another in that class. Diarrhea was continuing days after the 10-day course was done. Read Cipro can actually cause C. difficile, and Imodium can aggravate that! It's been one month since I started the ten-day course of Cipro, and I'm still having side effects of CNS."

For Bladder Infection "I've been on ciprofloxacin for 3 days now for a urinary tract infection, and I don't know what's worse... the pain from the actual infection or the horrible feeling this medication has given me. Every time I take it, it gives me a headache, I feel drained and dizzy, and it gives me this restless anxiety attack feeling. I hope that at the end of my 7-day cycle it will be worth it, but so far I feel worse than better."

For Bacterial Infection "Please don’t take this medication, ciprofloxacin. After my 2nd dose, I immediately felt side effects without warning. I got dizzy and passed out twice, vomited, and had diarrhea. Felt very fatigued after each dose-not like myself at all. This drug needs to be taken off the market. I cannot imagine what wouldn’t have happened had I continued taking it."

For Kidney Infections "Dear Antibiotic, I think by 'may cause dizziness' you meant to say 'may cause you to feel like you are stuck on a merry-go-round.' Overall, though, okay, but for about an hour after I take it, I'm all dizzy. Other than that, it's fine."

Ciprofloxacin for Sinusitis "Took this for a sinus infection. Did not clear it up, but about 4 weeks later I had neuropathy in my face, which then spread down over my whole body. Muscle spasms, arthritis, vertigo, blurred vision, headaches, burning nerve pain, tendonitis, even my hair started falling out. Had to do PT just to use my right leg again. Went to multiple neurologists and doctors, but they could not figure it out. Almost a year later, I was given Cipro again and immediately felt like my whole body was on fire. This was around the time they were having hearings at the FDA to add all the black box warnings, so my new doctor figured it out. 5 years later and I'm better, but still can't hike or do things I used to love, and still have nerve and tendon issues. Don't ever take Cipro!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was put on this for a cat bite - bacterial infection. Please don't let bad comments scare you. I'm allergic to penicillin and have limited options. My doctor gave me the warnings, and I was terrified. You may be dizzy for a few hours the first time you take it, but then you adjust. If you have a sensitive stomach, have crackers and ginger ale on hand, it helps. Ruptured tendons concern. I researched and found that athletes and people over 60 (I'm 54) are more susceptible because they are magnesium deficient, and the fluoride molecules in Cipro bind with magnesium to make you even more deficient. Disclaimer: I'm not a health care professional, please research this yourself. I started taking Cipro, and within 2 days, my heels started hurting. I found out about magnesium and started taking supplements. The pain went away rather quickly. Remember to take at least 2 hours after your dose or 6 hours before, or it will interfere with absorption of Cipro. Bottom line, this drug worked well for me, and the side effects were manageable with magnesium supplements."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Test came back, had a UTI. Had one a month ago, so the doctor thought it would be a good idea to put me on something else. Something stronger. It has been day two on Cipro, and I went from feeling fine to feeling like I have the flu. Lots of muscle aches, lots of dizziness, lots of nausea. I never read side effect labels on meds. So I look up Cipro online, and lawd, this medication has a black box warning?! WTF?! I called my doctor and told him this ain't going to cut it. Would very much like to get rid of an infection without having muscular, nerve, and who-knows-what-else for the rest of my life! Watch what you're putting in your bodies, folks."

Ciprofloxacin for Bladder Infection "Started taking for bladder infection, got to day 2 of taking the medication when it started giving me random sharp stomach pains (wasn't having any dairy products either) and caused me to have panic attacks where I felt extremely dizzy. I had to ask for another medication."

For Urinary Tract Infection "If you had a bad reaction to CIPRO, take activated charcoal caps ASAP!!! It will help your body not absorb the medicine and drink lots of water. I took 4 doses and initially for a UTI, I was feeling better, but this morning after the 4th dose, I felt horrible. Dizzy, spaced out, weak, and weird feelings in my head. I drank a bunch of water and took the charcoal and feel 85% better about 1.5 hours later. I'm requesting Zythromax (Z-Pack) instead because I've taken that before with no issue, and it's a drug on the list to help UTIs. Just waiting for the doctor to get back with me. Anyway, I hope this review helps someone. The activated charcoal is also great if you have food poisoning! It's like a miracle helper."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed Cipro to treat bacterial overgrowth syndrome in my intestines. The first time I took it, it worked wonders! It without a doubt changed my life. Apparently, bacterial overgrowth is recurring, so I'm on my second round of it now - 2 pills, twice daily, for 14 days - and am experiencing much worse side effects than the first time around. The nausea/dizziness/upset stomach passes after about an hour, though, so I don't mind putting up with it to get the desired results, because it really does work phenomenally well for me!"

For Kidney Infections "I am taking this medicine for a bladder infection, which I have quite often. It wasn't prescribed to me by my doctor, who usually prescribes (Pinamox), which by the way gives me zero side effects. Straight away after I took the first dose, which was 500 mg, I was feeling very dizzy and nauseous. I thought I could put up with that feeling, but I'm now on day 2. I could barely get out of bed from nausea in the morning but managed to get myself together, but felt all day like I was about to collapse with severe joint pains and a headache, which got even worse. I went to bed, but when I did, it felt like I was literally drunk and kept vomiting all night. I won't take the next dose or ever take this medicine again, as it feels like taking poison."

For Bladder Infection "Within 10 minutes, I'm dizzy and sleepy. I wake up 2 hours later, confused and slightly dizzy. My upper abdomen feels like I have an ulcer, and I'm extremely nauseous. I ate an apple and felt better. It's 3 am, and I can't sleep."

For Bladder Infection "Have an acute UTI which comes on very, very quickly, so have to go to A & E for intravenous antibiotics. This is the 3rd infection in 3 months, but the hospital keeps prescribing Ciprofloxacin 500 mgs, fine for a short while, but the infection starts again, with lots of blood in my urine. I experience dizziness, nausea, and some pain. This time, along with the Cipro, I've been prescribed Naproxen. Have an appointment with a urologist soon and hoping he will prescribe something different and that works. My life is on hold at the moment and totally fed up."

For Urinary Tract Infection "NO ONE SHOULD BE GIVEN THIS MEDICATION CIPROFLOXACIN UNLESS IT IS A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION! Horrible drug! I was given this medication 10 months ago for a simple UTI from kidney stones and my life is a complete nightmare now. It has put me in constant debilitating nerve pain, caused severe muscle atrophy, and central nervous system issues. I can no longer drive a car, or even sit more than a few minutes, cannot walk without tremors or risk of falling, it damaged my knees and caused severe spine pain, anxiety, insomnia, and dizziness. It has stolen my life. At 54 years old my independence is completely gone! They list these side effects as rare but there are hundreds of thousands of us out here with the same heartbreaking story..."
