Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I was prescribed this medication for twice a day for 10 days and on day 5, I had a tremor on my right hand and right after, my right arm and leg went numb. It was horrifying to experience especially because I am currently under getting a diagnosis if there being something wrong with my heart. So I didn't know if it was the pills or my heart until I started doing more research on the pill and tremors were a serious side effect. Yes I feel my UTI has gone away but I would NOT take again and I am still currently taking them but I'm going to talk with my doctor because I no longer want to use these drugs. Beside the tremor and numbness, I also became very tired, headaches, muscle pains, and nausea. Truly terrible to feel this way. I do not recommend."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I have been getting urinary tract infections since I was a small child and the only antibiotic that has worked for me 100% of the time is Cipro. I have never had any side effects but I am not sensitive to any medicines that I am aware of. I also use AZO Maximum Strength for the pain as an alternative to Pyridium although if I have a prescription, Pyridium is actually cheaper (with insurance) than purchasing AZO."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Seach up Quinolone Toxicity on the internet before taking this potent drug. I had repeated courses for UTI/Kidney infections from 1993 to 2008. I believe this drug has ruined my life. I have ME/CFS, anxiety/depression, achilles tendinitis of both heels, persistent severe dermatitis. To name just a few. If I had been made aware of the possibility of serious and lifelong side effects I would never had agreed to take this poison. I went from being an energetic sporty person who worked 2 jobs simultaneously because I liked being busy and social, and now to someone who hasn't been able to work since 2002. Don't take ANY of the Quinolone Antibiotics unless it's literally a matter of life or death and you have no other options."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I've taken Cipro before for urinary tract infections but my body reacted badly this time. I had nausea, upset stomach, headaches and caused vomiting. It did help with relieving urinary tract infections symptoms after 2 days. I finished my entire prescription and I still have some side effects."

"Cipro is the only thing that works for me. I suffer from chronic urinary tract infections, despite my efforts of consistent 100% cranberry juice intake and using the bathroom after sex, I normally have 2-3 per year. Cipro usually kicks the awful urinary tract infection symptoms within a couple hours of my first dose, and I have complete relief within the first day. I'm lucky enough to have the meds on-hand due to the recurrent infections - typically only take for 3 days unless I'm seeing blood in my urine, then I take it for 5. Dose 500mg twice in the first day to kick the infection, and then I follow up with 500mg once per day through my 3 or 5 day. I don't usually have many side effects from the Cipro, maybe some fatigue and mild headache for a day but that's all."

"Well, I was stupid enough to give cipro a chance to get into my system. 5-10 mins after taking a 500mg tablet of cipro, I started running to the bathroom because my eyes are so watery, til it went red, and then became swollen, a few moments I started sneezing non-stop!!!! And then my nose got clogged, I was able to find rashes in my skin, and most, it was very difficult breathe!! Had my boyfriend to take me to the hospital. My advice would be a big no no. Don't take cipro"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Prescribed 500 mg twice a day for UTI. By night four, had the most amazing aches in my left leg from hip through knee particularly. Halfway through the (sleepless, since it interacts with my usual sleep remedy) night, it switched legs. A relief in that I didn't have to worry that I was suddenly developing an orthopedic condition. Day and night five just as bad. Being careful with exercise so as not to harm a tendon. Something is going on. It's cured the UTI so I will stick it out for the five days. Hope these aches go away after. Taking Neurontin and a bedtime hydrocodone help, but that makes me useless! However, a urine culture said my infection was ONLY sensitive to Cipro, so ..."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I took Cipro for five days and had to stop. I can say that it took the symptoms of the urinary tract infection away and made me feel better that way. On the other hand, it really aggravated some inflammatory conditions that I have had under control for a long period of time."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "This drug, like so many countless victims before me, has so effectively degraded my quality of life that I simply lack words to describe how important it is to be cautious before consumption of this deadly poison. I had a simple UTI at the age of 17; two weeks later my head began to throb and tingle. My hands were in so much unexplainable pain. I had never experienced anything like this at all before in my life. Also, I had just recently triumphed over a five year battle with anorexia, going from 76 lbs to 105lbs - looking forward to a healthy future. Now, I experience this nonstop, chronic pain all over my body. I am only 18. Definitely a 0.5 out of 10, to be quite honest with you lot."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I'll give it a few stars because it made my UTI symptoms BETTER.. However did NOT clear up the infection! I just finished up the bottle after taking twice a day for ten days. Yet 2 days later I am feeling the terrible symptoms all over again, like nothing has changed. Will be going back to the Dr tomorrow for a stronger medication."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Was given a 3 day treatment for a UTI, 250mg every 12 hours. I had let the UTI get really bad before treatment, so my experience may not be representative of someone who catches it early. The horrendous symptoms were gone within a day, but I've just taken my last one and still feel irregular urgency and burning upon urination. Going back to the dr today."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Dr prescribed 500 mg twice a day for 5 days. The UTI was horrible, but I’ve never experienced such horrible side effects from an antibiotic. Nausea was debilitating, I was fighting to keep from vomiting. Couldn’t drive, because it had my head swirling. Headaches too! I stuck with it because the UTI scared me, but after just taking the last dose, I’m still certain my UTI is lingering. Maybe I’m imagining this, but my thinking and moods seem to have been dark. I regret taking this drug"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "While Cipro may clear up my UTI it triggered my seizure potential and lowered my seizure threshold. It also can interfere with seizure meds which isn't cool for me as it can cause seizures in people with previous head trauma too. Lastly, if also taken with NSAIDS like ibuprofen or aspirin it can raise risk. Use extreme caution if have history of seizures!!!!"

"I took ciprofloxacin 500 milligrams 2 times a day and after 24 hours from starting this I started feeling sick again and worse now after 3 days with aching muscles, dizziness, pain in urination fever nauseated and headache, but the doctor won't prescribe anything else for me until it is finished after 5 days, so I'm going to go into the emergency or medical center."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "RUN away from this drug as fast as you can, it is extremely dangerous and shouldn't even be approved. People have ended up crippled for life by taking just a few pills! If you just ingested this, I would recommend trying to throw it up, taking TUMS or calcium to counteract it, or drink milk while taking Magnesium so it does not go into your body. Then proceed to calling your physician and give them a telling off for trying to cripple you and not advise on the life destroying side effects reported with this poison. There are other options to fight infection without lifelong issues, unless you are literally dying from an infection, you have NO business taking this Med!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I went to the ER last night because of a pulled back muscle that occurred 2 weeks ago...the pain(lower back) was just unbearable! And when the pain also moved up to my kidney I thought "ok something is seriously wrong here...Turns out I had a pretty bad UTI that I didn't know about (NONE of the usual symptoms, pee flow regular, no spotting, etc.) 1st time ever being prescribed Cipro, 500mg 2x a day. Took 1st dose immediately after filling my script(10pm), second one 12hrs later(10am) by morning I had severe dry mouth after taking 2nd dose so I started drinking a Gatorade and immediately started vomiting, my kidney hurts more than it did before going to ER, headache since last night, and I'm only on day 1 :("

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Prescribed this for a UTI that seemed resistant to Macrobid. I was feeling pretty sick and in constant pain after Macrobid didn’t work. Cipro seemed to kick in after about 28 hours of so of taking it (3 pills). I went from feeling like I could barely get out of bed to being able to work. Still have some pain but I can function again. No side effects so far except feeling slightly tired/some muscle aches. After a week of feeling miserable it’s nice to feel better."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Kept getting Cipro for UTI's. Would go away and resurface 6 weeks later . Then began the excruciating pain in legs and ankles, brain fog, a whole list of things going wrong. Do your research and only if you are on deaths door agree to take this poison . It may work at first but you are likely to pay months and years later. So not worth it!"

"I'm 31 years old and I was given cipro for a bladder infection. Was told to take 500mg every 12 hours. I took two pills on the first day, in the morning and 12 hours later that evening. I woke up next morning and had slight pain in the back of my knee, did not think too much about it and took another pill for that morning. An hour later I had trouble walking and it got worse every hour from there on. Its a few days later now, and my leg is showing no signs of getting better. I can not walk without limping, have a burning sensation around my knee, the tendons from my knee down to my ankle are in constant pain, I have a sharp pain between or in what feels like the joint of my knee and it feels uncomfortable all the time, and the leg seem weak or lame with a limited amount of motion. I would recommend taking anything other than cipro if possible."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Cipro carries a black box warning related to potential neurological adverse effects. I was unaware of this the last time I took Cipro for a simple UTI. Within 3 hours of the first dose, I began experiencing tingling on my left side (I thought I was having a stroke!) I stopped the Cipro immediately. But the damage was done - I experienced occasional nerve tingling for 6 months. Luckily for me, the nerve damage was not permanent. It goes without saying I'll never take another drug in the fluoroquinoline family again."
