Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I was poisoned by this medication. It got rid of my infection but at the risk of my health. After four days of taking it my knees started hurting and it went to my elbows. After I stopped taking it ( a year ago) I was in terrible chronic pain and I’m still fighting off the symptoms of flouriquinalone toxicity syndrome till this day. I am a artist and I couldn't draw for months and I couldn’t make money . Worst part of it is I still can’t get any answers. I rather have my UTI back then Ever take this again."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Got my urinary tract infection at 10pm and within an hour I knew I was in trouble with the usual stinging and need to go to the bathroom but it happened so fast and before I knew it I was bleeding quite heavily. Immediately went to Emergency and was prescribed Cipro, within an hour I was getting relief. I'm dizzy and have ringing in my ears but very relieved the pain is subsiding, hopefully the bleeding will stop soon."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I took Cipro for a UTI about a year ago and had absolutely no problems. Pain and urgency to pee subsided after the second dose if I recall correctly. Two days ago I felt the symptoms of a UTI creep up on me and today I just started Cipro again. Hoping I have no side effects this time either!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "DO NOT TAKE CIPRO! I'd give this garbage a negative 10 if I could! Read all the possible side effects then ask yourself if you're willing to risk contracting many of them, no matter whether a doctor tells you the odds of those happening are slim, rare, etc. In my case, I was given this junk 4 different times within a year, around 60 pills total. I developed peripheral neuropathy shortly after that, which means that all of my extremities are becoming more and more numb, after the paresthesia (intense tingling and pain) stopped because I don't feel it anymore. I can still feel pressure in my head, hands, and feet, but when they are lightly touched or stroked? Nothing. I've seen 3 neurologists, two said it was simply coincidence. I fired them. The guy I still see said it was probably the Cipro that damaged me, but unfortunately he can't directly correlate them, so he would only be a "maybe" if I sue everyone responsible. But I'm still checking into it. Please say no to Cipro."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I started experiencing side effects right after I took my last pill. I was prescribed 500mg 2x daily for 14 days. This was the first drug my urologist prescribed for prostitis. Now 3 days later foot and leg pain. This drug should not be used as the first option. It should be used only for severe issues. I misplaced my pamphlet so I I was unaware of the dangers. It should be a requirement that a FDA black box drug should be marked on the bottle with details in the pamphlet. I would have never taken this drug had I read what the possible side effects were. Sad part know one knows how to treat the side effects and they could be permanent."

"First sign: Rusty/red colored urine...NO indication that there was a problem occurring. I have a history of staghorn kidney stones so was concerned. Test showed bacteria infection. 3 meds over several days. The last Cipro did the trick...urine cleared by the 5th day (out of a course of 7 days).I repeat, NO UTI symtoms of any kind, other that color in urine. I will mention that I am almost 86 yrs old and as a young adult have had my share of UTI's. Grateful for this medicine."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Am currently taking Cipro to deal with a UTI. Had one about a month ago, took Cipro, it seemed to go away, but now it's back with a vengeance. But I'm taking it with great reluctance. It use to be my ENT's go-to drug for sinus infections, which I would typically get twice a year (allergy induced). Then, about 4 years after first taking the drug, I woke up one morning and my right foot totally collapsed due to tendon rupture. Zero arch. At the time (1990) there weren't any tendon warnings with the drug and no one could explain how tendons could rupture overnight. Now my podiatrist attributes the event to the Cipro. I have to wear a Richie brace on that foot/ankle."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I have had a UTI for the past four months and other antibiotics were not working. I have allergies to a lot of antibiotics and was never given Cipro before. Day 3 and UTI is gone. On my side effect I have is a sinus headache, but I will suffer through because anything is better than the pain I was having with a UTI. No stomach pain or nausea. Sometimes you have to outweigh minor side effects to the infection itself. I would definitely take again. Also, I was told the more water you drink with this the better."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I was given Cipro 500 mg twice daily for a horrible UTI. I’ve finished my third dose and pain has gone from a ten yesterday to a 5-6 today. Doctor prescribed them for ten days with option to check after five so I’m hopeful five will be enough. Side effects I noticed were some bad stomach pain which almost made me stop taking it but I’m glad I didn’t because the relief has been tremendous in a short period of time. Also taking AZO to help."

"On the first day I felt very nervous and lots of anxiety. I have very weird dreams and felt like throwing up all the time. By the third day, I was so anxious that I had a severe panic attack. I thought I was going to pass out and my heart was racing so fast I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I called for a new medication and was given another one that I reacted the same with so I called again and asked for amoxicillin."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Do not take this drug, unless you're near death or exposed to anthrax or contracted the plague; seriously, that's what it's meant for. I took ONE pill of this and developed horrible popping in all joints, knee /leg/shoulder pain. The worst was the ER visit that followed 48 hours later, because I had rapid swelling in the eyes and light sensitivity with blurred vision. Scariest day of my life happened because of ONE pill of this poison. This awful medicine has black box warning from FDA and should not be given for basic infections."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I would give it a negative 100 if I could. It is being misused for simple infections and has destroyed 100s of 1000s of lives. It destroyed mine. (after only 4 pills). look up Cipro toxicity. Got to the fluoroquinolone wall of pain. Do some homework but do NOT take this drugs unless you are dying and there is no other option."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Took just one tablet, I was rushed to hospital I could not even pick my hand up. Sadly someone gave me a 2nd dose in hospital the next day, 20 mins later I went into.. ANAPHYLAXIS SHOCK .. I had 8 Drs round my bed doing so many things. Thank GOD for those 8 Drs ACTING so FAST. Had I not been in hospital that day. I would not be here now to tell my Story. I was told is was a very close call even though I was in hospital. This was a truly Terrifying thing to happen. I am now so scared to take any antibiotic. 18.3.2016"

"I am 21 and I am extremely disappointed that I even took one pill. Since taking the pill I have been experiencing dizziness and heart palpitations, had to revisit the ER literally the day after being prescribed this and now need to be given a little heart monitor for 2 days. I have awful anxiety, and the side effects of this are bad anxiety?? I’m not even sure why I was prescribed this for my UTI if the side effects are so bad. I am upset at the lack of attention from the dr at my local ER for not thinking this through. I am doing everything I can to get this out of my system and I am NEVER taking this again."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I was given the pill 2 times per day at 500 mg. I am in my early 30's and feeling still overall blah on the 4th day of the meds. Feeling numb on my feet and nausea after taking the pill. I am on no other medications. Normally I rarely remember my dreams, but last two nights I have horrible nightmares."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "I found out I had a UTI a week after I had my annual physical examination. I did not get my prescription until a week later so I would assume I had the UTI for two weeks to a month. Doc prescribed me to take two 500mg daily. The side affects suck. Night one I did not sleep. I took a 3 hour nap and was up for 16 hours. Day two's morning dose had me nauseous. I just took my night dose so hopefully the side effects won't be bad. My UTI symptoms went away within my first dosage (slight pressure, cloudy urine, sensitivity)"

"I was terrified to take cipro (ciprofloxacin) because of the reviews. I was prescribed cipro for a bad uti that relapsed after amoxicillin didn't clear it up. Within 1 day there was no more blood in my urine. Within 3 days all burning stopped and my urine wasn't cloudy anymore. I was on cipro for a full week. I did have some side effects but nothing debilitating. I had some nausea, heartburn, fatigue, mild abdominal discomfort and diarrhea. I'm thankful for this antibiotic! A urine test verified that it completely cleared my uti. Don't be afraid to take cipro. If you experience bad side effects, just tell your doctor and take it from there. But from what I've been told by a couple of pharmacists, really bad side effects from cipro are rare. I've been on amoxicillin, clindamycin and cipro and they have all had the same side effects for me. And those side effects were manageable."

But I did with the support of friends and it works great for urinary tract infections with the first dose. I do have heartburn and gas but I'm still taking it and I will add a Zantac and Gas X tomorrow. "

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Side effects were unbearable for my girlfriend so she stopped after only 1.5 days. She suffered from headaches, vomiting, achy all over, stomach pains, taste buds (bad taste). It seemed to help with the infection but at the end cycle of the dosage she was feeling much better. In 45 minutes after taking a pill it made her feel so sick again."

"PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS. I was a 24 year old HEALTHY female and had a simple UTI, my doctor prescribed me Cipro for 3 days twice a day. The 3 days I took this I thought I was on another planet, I was walking around my house bumping into walls and my arms and legs felt numb and tingly. 2 weeks later and I am sure this has poisoned me - I have vertigo when laying in bed and have to sit up because I feel as though I'm going to be sick, I wake up having extreme nightmares and terrors that make me throw myself from one side of the bed to the other. My arms and legs are in CONSTANT PAIN, stabbing pains, tingling, numbness. My vision has been affected and I'm constantly seeing black patches out of the corners of my eye, I look to see if somethings there and there isn't. I genuinely feel as though I'm going MENTAL - I'm scared as anything after reading the reviews that this is my life now. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS FOR UTI OR KIDNEY INFECTION - THERE IS OTHER MEDICATIONS OUT THERE."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "Cipro caused me to have horrible panic attacks. I have been dealing with anxiety for the last 1.5 years, but had been doing so much better the last 5 months or so. I was prescribed it for a UTI, after my original antibiotic wouldn't be covered by ins. and I couldn't afford it. I will never take it again if I can help it all. It has set me back so much and even though I've finished it up over a week ago I am dealing with worsened anxiety still. I know it was the medication. I haven't been that bad since I started having trouble to begin with. It was awful. I've also had a lot of stomach issues since and can't help but wonder if it was the medication. I think the stuff is like poison for some people!!"

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "This was prescribed for my son who has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. He became swollen in his legs ankles and feet. Took for 48 hours and discontinued as the swelling progressed. Rushed to MD, had to take a different medicine (Macrobid). Thankfully the swelling subsided in a few days. I have read many horror stories about the side effects of this medicine - some permanent! I do not recommend. Please keep in mind that a urine sample should always be cultured, not just tested with a dipstick as the treatment really depends on the type of bacteria that's causing the uti."

"I didn't expect this drug ciprofloxacin to work for my UTI but it did. My symptoms went away within 2 days of taking Cipro. My rating is based on effectiveness and plus the side effects were almost non-existent for me. This cured my UTI whereas nitrofurantoin and cephalexin did not work for me. I was initially hesitant about taking Cipro due to the negative reviews online. I must note three things: do not take diary with this drug, I did feel mild muscle spasm in my leg/thigh area and lastly, I experienced sleeplessness whilst taking this drug."
