"I was prescribed cipro along with prednisolone and ceftazidime intravenous. Started to have dizzy spells as the growth of pseudomonas in my lungs was heavy. Nausea remains unchanged. Wanted to stop it due to side effects but doctor told to continue due to chances of infection returning. Its not that bad than having a killer bacteria in your lungs and to eat this nasty drug. My votes towards this drug is positive، I see my infection clearing up. Prescribed for 2 weeks. 1 already gone. 1 more to go"

"I took Ciprofloxacin to treat a gut infection caused by Aeromones that showed up on a stool test. I was first prescribed Bactrim, which caused intense tachycardia, dizziness, nausea, and dysphoria. Cipro DID cause waves of dizziness and nausea, which meant I couldn't drive right after taking it. It would have been a problem if I had been working. But in the end, the side effects were mostly tolerable knowing that the infection had to be dealt with. After I finished my 10 day course, I had some weakness and exercise intolerance. My doctor prescribed supplements to rebuild my mitochondria."

Cipro (ciprofloxacin) "This was a bit scary to be on because of possible side effects but it worked. I had a severe inner ear infection for a year. It started with sinus infections, then inner ear. It went to my tonsil and adenoids. A Z-pack, then 10 days of normal antibiotics, then Cipro last. I was nauseated the first dose but ate some crackers and it settled. I followed the rules to the letter of how to take and what not to take with it. I was also on a corticosteroid so was very careful not to strain or work too hard. Had no real problems with this."

"I got a hernia from lifting a suitcase we suspect. The hernia was inguinal . At the same time I had a smaller one in the abdominal wall . It was untreated for some time ( over a month ) as I didn't notice it . I'm not sexual. The doctor said this is not uncommon in males over 40 . Discovered all this after an ultrasound .Non sexual Epididimitus , from urinary infection . Rx Cipro , immediate abdominal bloat , sluggish and exhausted feeling , and Nausea . 2 Times / po / daily ... Ugh ...research into WHY is needed"

"Off of one dose I got all the bad side affects hours later sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, skin turning pale and it felt like I had pins and needles sticking in my head. I can't believe that I have all these side effects on top of food poisoning it seems very dangerous."

"Horrible drug! But potent. I wish I could tolerate this drug. Both times I tried to take it, I only took HALF a 250mg pill. I had a severe allergic reaction within 15-20 min both times. The first time I got a hot, burning body and blisters in my mouth. The second time was scary. My mouth felt like it was on fire, couldn’t stop sneezing. Eyes burned and hurt. One eye swelled up SO bad. My nose got stuffy and my heart was racing. I slightly struggled to breathe so I drove to the ER. It took 48 hours for my symptoms to subside, and I had a massive migraine. HOWEVER, this drug did in fact help rather quickly with a stubborn UTI that is embedded in my bladder. It really is a good drug for bacterial infections, but if you suffer side effects from it, just know they can be life-threatening. I would not start with a full dose, and I would make sure I was close to medical professionals when taking it. If I weren’t allergic to sulfa I would recommend it."

"I was given Cipro for a urinary tract infection, one a day before bedtime. After taking the third pill I woke up during the night unable to move my right arm at all. I convinced myself that it was going to be all right and I was able to go back to sleep. I woke up a couple of hours later unable to move my left arm and within hours I was feeling pain down both legs. The movement came back within hours, but I had pain in all of my joints. I refused to take anymore and the doctor tried to give me another drug of the same family, which I also refused. I continued to have shoulder pains and elbow pains for some time. The pain that had gone down my legs settled completely in my knees. Slowly, over the last many months, the pain has gone from my other joints, but both of my knees are totally destroyed and lock constantly. I went from being active to being unable to climb stairs."

"My sister was given it as part of a Lyme disease treatment. When a Lyme patient takes an antibiotic it causes something called a Herxheimer reaction as it fights the disease. My sister took Cipro (500mg x2 or x3 per day) she immediately felt horrible. She had dreadful muscle pain, couldn't raise her right arm and was really sick however she had never read about being floxxed, the name given for the horrible side effects of floroquinolines She assumed it was the famous "herxing" , so she continued taking it for 30 days. When she had her regular phone appt after a month w/ her Dr, he immediately said It's not a herx, you've been floxxed. This was 10 years ago and she's still in pain and can't lift her arm. One of the strangest and most difficult side effect was she started to have audio hallucinations. She constantly hears radio, church bells, vacuuming, gongs etc all the time. She doesn't hear ppl talking, not schizophrenic. Does anyone else get this?? Pls msg me if you do!!"
