Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "Listen everyone, this antibiotic works by cutting up the DNA of the Bacterium so (eventually) it can't grow its rotten little colonies. There's also a steroid added to reduce inflammation. It won't directly kill the existing Bacteria."

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "I've had ear trouble all my life including a cholesteatoma which required surgery and placement of a permanent ear tube. I get several ear infections a year. My ENT always prescribes Ciprodex. It clears up my infections quickly and completely without any adverse reaction or pain. Some say they had pain after administering Ciprodex, but that isn't normal. They should have stopped using it and informed their doctor to get a different kind of ear drops. The problem wasn't with Ciprodex, it was with their reaction to it. Everyone is different and there are different drops that work better for different people."

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Middle Ear Infections "I don't know why people have such bad experience with this but as a student I will say its so so good. I was so scared with my terrible ear infection and now it is so much better just in 4 days. I would recommended those who have bad ear infection but must prescribed by your doctor."

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "I’ve had ear issues my entire life. From grommets at 5 years old to heavily infected ears at 35. Apparently my ear canals grew differently causing my ears not to disperse wax like any normal ear. Therefore my ears get clogged up continuously causing infections. These drops really work for me. I don’t experience any pain or anything. Other that my ears just being sensitive when putting the drops in due to it being cold. Other than that these are quite good."

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "Without my insurance covering Ciprodex, I just paid $230 for 1/3 an ounce at pharmacy. I have never had an ear infection but recently got a super nasty one from the ocean water in Puerto Rico. Been on Ciprodex for two days and it has helped OR was it the cephlaxin and amoxicillin?"

For Otitis Externa "I have had an ear issue for over 6 months now. I have been on Ciprodex for just as long. Even an oral antibiotic several weeks back did not help. The pain is freaking intense. No infection, well, at least no discharge. No excess ear wax. Just a red-hot eardrum. Just pain. The Ciprodex works well for that, better than Tylenol and/or ibuprofen. Makes my ear itchy though. CT Scan was normal. Waiting for a referral to an ear specialist. Not hopeful. If these doctors can't figure out an ear issue I count my lucky stars that is my only issue!"

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "The cost was expensive at $38.90 in Australia! No rebate. 2 drops x 5 days into my left ear. It made my hearing worse. After 5 days I have constant ringing in my left ear. I wouldn't recommend CIPROXIN HC ear drops for any one! I went to the doctor after 2 days and told her it was worse and she claims the inflammation was gone, keep using it!"

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "Thanks to the helpful reviews and some extra googling, I can say I’m feeling optimistic. 38 weeks pregnant and I woke up with the most intense ear infection ever a few days ago - literally couldn’t even bite down. My jaw and lymph nodes were swollen and in so much pain, and the doctor couldn’t even see my eardrum. Just wrapped up my third day of drops, and I can feel a significant improvement. Still some muffled hearing, popping, and slight pain, but the swelling went down a TON, and it doesn’t hurt to chew. And I can hear a little better. The trick is to warm the bottle in your hands, then shake well, lay on your side, and pour drops in. Let it sit for a couple of mins, then turn over and drain the rest on a tissue or whatever. I did not have any intense itching, burning, etc. I also paired this treatment with Tylenol and cold compresses (for swelling) as needed. Also, drinking hot water or beverages was great too (helped with draining the infection through sinuses)."

For Otitis Externa "After reading the reviews I was sort of anxious, however I am on my fifth day of taking the prescription and I am feeling near if not 100% back to normal. I did not feel any of the pain when taking the drops as others claim. The only reason I gave it an 8 instead of 10 is because one of my ears became clogged after taking the first days dosages. After 4 days, my ear became unclogged and I re gained most of my hearing. The pain subsided after 3 days of beginning the medicine. I strongly recommend this medication for those who have swimmers ear. If you have good insurance you won’t have to pay much. I only paid about $12."

For Middle Ear Infections "So sorry for those having such pain with these meds. I have severe sinusitis and my inner ear is completely plugged, hearing is almost negative. Started the drops June 30th still on them, have had no ear pain with drops, however, the ear is still not open, better tho. Also been using nose spray, and Tylenol. About ready to find an ENT! Again, I have had no side affects from the drops."

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Otitis Externa "I’ve never had an ear infection in my life, but after 22 years somehow both of my ears became infected with otitis externa. The first doctor that I saw prescribed me neomycin/polymyxin b drops. I lost hearing in both ears because the drops could not reach my ear canal with all of the built up wax/infection. It’s like the drops just stacked on top. I went to a different doctor and was prescribed Ciprodex. She flushed my ears and put in wicks before I began the drops. It felt immediately better to get my ears flushed and cleaned before starting medication. I believe my hearing disappeared because the first doc let me start the drops with congested ears. Using Ciprodex with the wicks was a struggle for the first two days, but I started to get better. The medicine could finally reach my ear canal. My hearing came back. It says on the bottle to make sure your ears are “clean and dry” before use. This was an awful experience, but I’m so happy I saw that other doctor."

Ciprodex (ciprofloxacin / dexamethasone) for Middle Ear Infections "I am on 2nd day of these ear drops. Lot's of pain in right ear I think bc there is a hole in that eardrum also using in left ear for crystallized wax build up and that ear has a tube.. Is there not something else, plus I'm taking ciprofloxacin by mouth."

For Middle Ear Infections "Omg! This stuff is miraculous. The first few drops stung a little but, was bearable. The ER Dr prescribed this 4 drops 2x a day for 7 days. As soon as I put the first 4 drops in, I felt instant relief. I see that I must have gotten a bargain as far as the price. I don't have insurance and paid $86.00. Just make sure to finish it all. I will very enthusiastically give this miracle drug a 10 out of 10. I loved this stuff."

For Otitis Externa "Took this for a mild swimmers ear infection. After I started taking drops, I felt ear pain. Then as I continued, intense pain and swelling in my ear and jaw. By the second day, it felt like someone punched me in the ear and hurt my jaw. Finally stopped and took neomycin drops instead. Pain and swelling subsided. Ear is healing. Worst experience with ear drops ever."
