Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I am on my 5th day of a 10-day prescription - taking 500mg in the morning and 500mg before bedtime. The pills are hard to swallow and taste awful, so I dip them in honey before taking. It works great. Ceftin is working great. Being a person who has lived with nasty sinus infections most of my life, I never take the same antibiotic twice in one year. However, Ceftin is at the top of my list. It cures the infection. Make sure you take a ten-day (1000mg daily) course if you have a bad infection. It does make you feel bad - it is hard on your stomach, so you must take it with food. Yogurt or Activia is a must, and also make sure you have a bunch of bananas on hand. Good luck."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have suffered pain in my abdomen and back portion. It was diagnosed that I have urinary tract infection. My doctor advised me to take cefuroxime axetil 500mg 2 times a day for 7 days. The pain was gone after taking just 1 tablet. I didn't experience any side effects while I took this medicine until I finished the full 7 days."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I've had sinusitis for a couple of weeks, woozy, dizzy, pressure. I took a dose pack, which I normally take anyway and it helped some but no appreciable effects. I tried Augmentin and couldn't take anymore after one dose due to side effects. I've taken 3 Ceftin since yesterday and I feel much, much better."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I had a sinus infection with fever (spiking higher at night), took me a while to figure out because I never had one before. Within a day of taking Ceftin, I no longer had a fever and felt much better. Had no problem taking the pill with water (unlike others), don't taste it at all. After 5 days, I still have thick mucus and less appetite than usual, but otherwise am doing much better than before. I notice no side effects from this medicine."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Pneumonia "I was prescribed this after 3 days on Azithromycin was making me worse. My doctor told me the Z-pack wasn't working because my bronchitis had become pneumonia. After 2 days on Ceftin (250 mg, twice daily), I was really starting to improve. My cough had lessened, chest congestion had loosened nicely, and my headache/stuffiness had started to subside. I also used a humidifier. Now, 4 days in and I'm feeling almost human. The cough is almost gone, I can breathe almost normally, and am much improved. I have always heard the Z-pack knocks out almost everything, but I'm proof it's not a cure-all. One thing to note is that Ceftin can be rough on your stomach, so be sure to take it with food. Crackers, toast, or yogurt should be fine."

For Urinary Tract Infection "10 days ago, I was diagnosed with urinary tract infection and was prescribed cefuroxime axetil 500 mg 2x a day. After the first capsule, the severe symptoms of infection were gone. Although I've experienced lightheadedness and some anxiety after the morning dose, I think it's worth it compared to the pain and anxiety experienced during the infection."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I was given Ceftin by my regular doctor for a sinus infection. 500 mg, 2 times a day. It always clears my infection, I usually notice feeling better after day 3. After a while, it didn’t work anymore, and my sinusitis became chronic. Levaquin was then the only thing that worked. Now Levaquin is dangerous. So I thought maybe, after 7 years of no Ceftin, maybe it would work again. Thankfully, it works again. I have no side effects, I take it with food. It is really the BEST antibiotic I’ve ever taken. I can’t take Augmentin or sulfa, so I’m very glad that there is Ceftin! It’s a big pill. I smash it into a powder and take it with cinnamon applesauce-thereby no bitter or metallic taste."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I'm in the last couple of days of a 10-day prescription for cefuroxime (Ceftin) to treat acute prostatitis and mild bladder infection. The pain and discomfort subsided 3-4 days after beginning treatment. I've been managing the loose stool problem with multiple small portions of yogurt during the day. I'm also experiencing mild irritability and anxiety while taking the drug, a fair trade-off compared to my symptoms before starting treatment."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I'm currently being treated with Ceftin for a chest infection. I had been coughing, and try as I might, I couldn't bring up all the stuck mucus in my chest and throat. After one pill, the phlegm was loosened, and there was a dramatic decrease in my coughing. Plus, I've had zero side effects! :)"

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I have been dealing with bad breath for about 1 year and have been to my internal medicine doctor and my dentist. They said I was fine. I wasn't okay with this answer, so I went to see an ENT doctor. He then prescribed me Ceftin 500 mg tablets to take twice a day with food. This is the miracle drug. I have only been taking it for 3 weeks out of the 4 weeks I was prescribed the drug and can already tell a difference. I go back in 1 week to have a CT scan of my sinuses to see if the bacterial infection has cleared up. I would recommend this to anyone who is suffering from the symptoms it treats."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "After being hospitalized for 6 weeks and on other mag-antibiotics, I am so pleased to report that after 3-4 days on Ceftin, I finally could stop going through a 200 count box of tissues EVERY day and could actually breathe through my nose most of the time. My ENT Doctor prescribed Ceftin for 17 days. I've been on it now for 7 days. I have a severely depressed immune system due to MDS. We want to avoid surgery at all costs. I am hoping and praying the relief continues. I am also on Astepro nasal spray. Hoping for no or minimal side effects, which is always a concern. So far, so good. Will try and further evaluate at the end of the regimen. I hope this helps someone else."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Urinary Tract Infection "When I read all of the reviews, I was kind of terrified to start Ceftin, but I had no reason to be! The only side effect I found for the first day was gas and bloating, but it definitely could've been unrelated. As long as you take this antibiotic with a meal (nothing crazy, doesn't have to be huge) and take probiotics daily, you should be totally fine! I've been on it for 4 days, and I feel great with no side effects. Tomorrow is my last day, so I'm hoping my UTI will be cleared out! My only complaint is that because I took the liquid, it definitely was not pleasant to swallow, and I found the easiest way to make it tolerable was to mix it with a sweeter flavored drink, as the antibiotic is a bit gritty and bitter."

For Sinusitis "I had been suffering for months with sinus pain. Cefuroxime Axetil was my second round of antibiotics. It was a new medicine for me, and it worked perfectly. I began to feel better on day two. No side effects, no stomach pain, no bad taste, and easy to take. I am on day 9 of my 10 days, and I feel great."

For Sinusitis "Have suffered from allergies and 2 to 4 sinus infections yearly for most of my life. Have tried many antibiotics, but Ceftin works the best with the least side effects. I agree with other comments. After only 2 doses of a 10-day course, I already felt 50% better. I am an RN, and I have seen Z-Pak and Augmentin fail people during sinusitis treatment. This drug is my go-to now. It truly cures the infection. I only get maybe one acute sinusitis per year now, thanks to this drug."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I had a headache for 2 weeks straight and couldn't figure out why, so I finally broke down and went to the doctor's yesterday! She prescribed me Ceftin and said I had a sinus infection. I took both pills yesterday and woke up today with no headache at all and feeling amazing. This pill really works so far!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Had a UTI 2 weeks ago. Was prescribed Nitrofurantoin 2 times daily. Then on the 25th, started having symptoms of UTI again. Went back to urgent care yesterday. The doctor did another UA, and the results even specified which antibiotic would work the best, which was this medication. Took the first dose last night with Zofran because antibiotics make me sick and went to bed. Took two doses today and feel tons better! So far, I've had no side effects, but I take a probiotic, so I think it's helped. A note to those who suffer from joint pain and swelling on any antibiotic; there's the risk of tendon rupture, so if you experience pain and swelling of any extremity, see your doctor ASAP to rule it out. Hoping you all are doing okay during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please stay safe!!"

For Pneumonia "I am a partially disabled 70-year-old woman with lung issues. I used to be on oxygen but have been off for a few years. I got pneumonia in January '22 but think I had it since December '21. The Urgent Care doctor prescribed cefuroxime. I have a lot of allergies. I used it for 10 days, and it really helped with no side effects! I did have to get a refill a week later, but that is due to a previous lung issue. It really worked with no side effects. I am so glad! I would recommend this drug as safe and effective."

For Middle Ear Infections "Cefuroxime has been a very good antibiotic for me. It has cleared up multiple infections (ear and sinus). I have not had any side effects with it, unless I drank alcohol (feeling better after being on the med for a week), in which case this would give me an upset stomach. Some antibiotics have given me an upset stomach within a day even though I take it with food and take probiotics. I always feel better within a few days with this drug and have no issues. I just hope this review helps someone out there who has had issues with sinus or ear infections because I know how much it sucks and how scary it can be to be unable to find an antibiotic that works well!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was diagnosed with a UTI, and my doctor requires me to take cefuroxime 500 mg 3x/day. I’m on my 3rd day of medication, but the first time I took the medicine, I vomited. However, it reduces the pain in my back, and it is not painful to urinate anymore."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Prescribed to me for 14 days for a sinus, throat, and lung infection that I was battling for 4 weeks without any relief through natural home remedies. Started to unclog the sinus within 72 hours and began to be able to clear my nose and chest through productive cough and sniffing inward to expel the phlegm. Drink plenty of water and eat/drink plenty of probiotic yogurt to avoid the associated diarrhea and stomach issues that can start. Works great. Found it better than Levaquin and without the severe tendon pain/ripping that was caused in my calves when sleeping."

For Bacterial Infection "This drug is awesome. I’ll admit that it sat in my cabinet for a while because I read the reviews, and my anxiety skyrocketed. I finally decided to take it, and I did not have any side effects whatsoever (except for the bitter taste twice). I would wake at 8 a.m. to take a probiotic, eat at 9 a.m., then take the antibiotic at 10 a.m. I have to take it twice a day, so I did the same routine at 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m. Eat a nice-sized meal, and you’ll be fine! Symptoms disappeared by day 3. I took this pill for 10 days. Good luck. Don’t let the reviews scare you!"

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Pneumonia "I developed pneumonia from COVID and a sinus infection after I was COVID negative, still with lingering pneumonia. I was given Levaquin and it seemed to be working. But I developed a severe reaction to it, insomnia, shaking, panic attacks, nightmares, dizziness, and felt like I was having a mental breakdown. I told my doctor I need to get off Levaquin and why, and he prescribed a 10-day course of Ceftin. After two days being off Levaquin and now taking Ceftin, no more anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, dizziness, etc, Sinuses seem better. and less coughing. No diarrhea yet at two days in. Will go for CT scan in 18 days to see if chest is cleared from pneumonia, as they saw small pleural effusion on lower left lung, even after being on Levaquin for 15 days.It could be COVID scarring, which might take longer to go away. Who knows."

For Sinusitis "I am a chronic sinusitis sufferer, and normally I let it play out, and my body will usually fight it off. But every now and then, I have to get antibiotics, usually once a year and twice on rare occasions. It usually takes anywhere from 5 to 7 days before I get any relief. Well, this time I went in because my tongue seemed cut and burning, and my throat was a little sore, but I wasn't suffering from the normal sinus pressure and headaches. I was told the infection had spread to my ears and throat and was put on cefuroxime 500 mg twice daily. Though my tongue is still sore, it seems to be healing okay, and my throat and ears are no longer sore. Ears are plugged a bit, though. I breathe better through my nose. I have not experienced the taste as my pills are coated."
