Cefuroxime for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I have infections in the sinus, throat, and upper chest. My doctor first put me on Augmentin, which caused me to throw up. She changed it to Ceftin, and it is giving me no trouble at all. Also, I am already feeling better in the sinus. I have a horrible cough, but I imagine that's from the bronchitis breaking up. I'm very pleased with how this is working so far."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "Did an excellent job with clearing up the sinus infection. Four days in, however, I got hit with pretty severe diarrhea. The doctor had me stop taking it since I was so much improved in terms of the sinusitis and due to the side effects. It's been 48 hours of diarrhea and 24 since I terminated the medication. Hopefully, it resolves with the probiotics I'm taking and cessation of the Ceftin. I am concerned about the severe colitis I've read about, but we shall see."

For Sinusitis "This was prescribed to me for a sinus infection. After 5 days of use, I felt no change in my condition. This medication did not work for me. My dosage was 2 tablets by mouth twice a day. Tablets were 500 mg."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "I was put on Ceftin for a sinus infection. Three days later, I developed terrible diarrhea with blood, found out it was called pseudomembranous colitis. It is now a week later, and I am still suffering from the side effects."

Cefuroxime for Bronchitis "After taking Ceftin (Cefuroxime) for 3 days, my throat swelled, and my chest became more constricted. It felt as though I could not swallow well. I was dizzy and anxious. I consulted the pharmacist, who told me to take a Benadryl and if I didn't improve quickly, to get myself to the hospital. Within 5 minutes of taking the Benadryl, I could feel my throat relaxing. After relating this situation to my daughter, she told me she had a similar experience with this drug when it was prescribed for her a year ago."

For Sinusitis "I was amazed that this antibiotic started taking effect after the 2nd dose (500 mg 2x/day). I have completed 2 days of 10, and although my head and ears still feel full, I can breathe through my nose, have been sleeping through the night, and have my energy level back. I am extremely pleased."

For Sinusitis "I've had a sinus infection for over 4 weeks that just wasn't getting better - I was exhausted, no appetite, headaches, and the drainage from my sinus down my throat was starting to choke me at night. After seeing a doctor, I found that my sinus infection has spread to my throat and ears and was prescribed 500 mg 2x a day for 10 days. Two to three days in, and I felt reborn! This is a miracle drug! I do, however, feel some heartburn and flatulence as I'm nearing the end of my prescription, but it is so worth it!"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I've been fighting a bad infection in my sinuses and chest for 3 weeks. I'm on day 2 of this drug and coughing up mucus now, and hoping this is normal. I feel a lot better and can breathe while lying down. What a relief!"

For Sinusitis "I have tried different sinus medications over the years, and this seems to be the best of them all. Just 2 pills a day, breakfast and dinner, no noticeable negative effects. Cured my bout of sinusitis in about 3 days, but I continued to take it for the full 14 days."

Cefuroxime for Bladder Infection "I have been on Cefuroxime 250 mg tabs (generic for Ceftin) for 3 months, and my bladder infection has not improved. In fact, my urine is more bloody and continues getting worse. I have told my Dr. and requested a different, hopefully more effective antibiotic, but she keeps pushing this one. I am about to change doctors if she does not change it or my condition worsens more."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I have an upper respiratory infection. I have been on this medication for 3 full days so far, and my fever is gone and my cough is a lot better. It's definitely effective, the only problem is the side effects are awful! I'm extremely dizzy and have real low energy. This stuff works, but it sucks the life out of you."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was diagnosed with UTI on 9/21/2019, and the doctor prescribed me two tabs of cefuroxime a day. The medication is for 5 days. The antibiotic works as expected and has some side effects. I had a severe headache for two days, and to get through it, I took a cup of cold milk with honey. On that note, I didn't have any pain during urination."

For Lyme Disease "I was prescribed this cefuroxime at a dose of 500 mg 2 x a day for 10 days for Lyme disease. I had no symptoms of having Lyme other than a bite mark and huge circular rash that was terribly itchy. I have had no side effects from cefuroxime for me. I will ask for this in the future. Best of luck to all who are ill. I hope you have a speedy recovery and are paired with a successful remedy!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "1st took cefuroxime for 10 days and worked well, but 3-4 days later, symptoms returned (infection). After a week, was re-given this drug. First 2 days, had chills, feverish, swollen L hand (had cut on it) and developed chest pressure 2nd night. 3rd day, swelling in L hand diminished, but chills and feverish symptoms persist."

For Lyme Disease "Cefuroxime is very easy to take. Compared to Doxy, this is a breeze. Still have headaches, but on day 7, so we will see. Taking it for possible Lyme after a tick bite and an itchy rash, but no bullseye or anything. It just looked like a bug bite. I also have long Covid, so that is seriously complicating things. I do not know what symptoms are from what."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "I have been prescribed Ceftin multiple times over the course of 6 years to treat my sinusitis. Every time I have taken it, I have only been able to endure a few days before the incredibly harsh nature of this medicine on my stomach forces a doctor to stop the use. This week I was prescribed it again, and 4 hours into the VERY FIRST PILL of my VERY FIRST DOSE, I began to feel terrible stabbing abdominal pain and then began over 24 hours of awful diarrhea and vomiting. My body felt like it was going through a war. Now, not only was I still battling through sinusitis, but due to taking this Ceftin, I added symptoms of being in the throes of a stomach virus. I went to the doctor 12 hours into this episode, whereby he told me NEVER TAKE THIS MEDICINE AGAIN... it clearly is having awful reactions with your body. This has really set me back now, and thanks to the havoc it wrecked on my insides, now I can’t take any meds orally for a bit until we can stabilize my stomach."

For Sinusitis "I typically get two bad sinus infections every year and have tried many different antibiotics, but this med seems to work very well for me. After a few days, I start to feel better, but I must continue the meds for at least four more days or I will have a relapse of my sinus infection."

For Sinusitis "I've had 2 sinus surgeries (hated them both). The last one (about 6 years ago) the packing was left in until I got a bad infection with a horrible smell, hence the infection. After that, I have reoccurring sinus infections with that same terrible smell and must get on antibiotics right away. They always clear up but never eradicate the infection as it always comes back. Last time, it took 3 years to come back. I'm going to phone my Dr. tomorrow and get Cefuroxime that I know will work. I hope this helps someone...cheers Albert...out..."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Omg, this is the worst antibiotic ever. I almost finished a whole two weeks' supply and felt no better. I've been back to the doctor three times since using this antibiotic. It did nothing for my pain or me. Hopefully, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim works better."

For Sinusitis "I suffer from severe sinus issues, almost monthly, and this is the best antibiotic I have ever taken. Three days into the meds, and I felt better! Thank God, I have finally found something that will help me feel better within days."

For Pneumonia "My husband was prescribed this cefuroxime along with a Z-pack for pneumonia. It's been 4 days, and he's completely recovered. He still has 1 dose of azithromycin and 3 and a half days of cefuroxime axetil to complete the course. One or both of these drugs worked miracles for him, with absolutely no side effects. Also, his bowel movements are normal. Everyone's tolerance is different. I would rate both drugs as a 10."

For Sinusitis "I've been sick with a sinus/ear/eye infection, and after a very painful night during which I nearly choked on all the phlegm, I was prescribed cefuroxime 500 mg twice a day for 10 days. I expected it to work right away, but it took about 3 days for the symptoms to lessen. No side effects to report. I think it works, just give it time. I also use saline nasal spray and take Tylenol, vitamins, etc."

For Middle Ear Infections "I had the worst and most painful experience of my freakin life having a double ear infection. I went to my local urgent care, and the doctor prescribed Amoxicillin, and this made it SO MUCH WORSE. After 8 days of the Amoxicillin, I was hysterically crying from the pain. So I went back to urgent care and saw a different doctor, he prescribed me Cefuroxime and some ear drops. I am on day 4 of this antibiotic, and the pain is nothing like it was before, but I am still feeling it. Frankly, I've had a broken nose, too many sinus infections to count, etc., and NOTHING compares to the severity of the pain that this ear infection caused me. I am still in pain but just not as much. THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE is a warm compress or ice pack to help with pain."

Cefuroxime for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Very gentle antibiotic for me. With every other kind I've taken, on the first dose, I expect it to feel like it 'hit bottom' in my stomach. This one did not make my stomach upset one bit. A surprise. Had a cold for 1.5 weeks and it came back a few days later (after some sinus pains). Sinuses opened up and a torrent of mucus poured down my throat, causing laryngitis. Was getting worse, so I decided to suck it up and take these. I was VERY apprehensive at first because I think antibiotics should be a last resort. I have a trip abroad coming up, so no time to be sick. Started working the day I took it. It is now day 4 on them and my voice came back. I've been sipping kefir and taking a probiotic between doses. I don't know if this will cause a yeast infection, but I still might take a fluconazole after my prescription is finished if I feel ANY hint of discomfort. So far, so good though. Penicillins usually give me instant vaginal yeast infections! Cleared my cystic acne too!"

Cefuroxime for Pneumonia "I developed pneumonia from COVID and a sinus infection after I was COVID negative, still with lingering pneumonia. I was given Levaquin, and it seemed to be working. But I developed a severe reaction to it: insomnia, shaking, panic attacks, nightmares, dizziness, and felt like I was having a mental breakdown. I told my doctor I need to get off Levaquin and why, and he prescribed a 10-day course of Ceftin. After two days of being off Levaquin and now taking Ceftin, no more anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, dizziness, etc. Sinuses seem better and less coughing. No diarrhea yet at two days in. Will go for a CT scan in 18 days to see if the chest is cleared from pneumonia, as they saw small pleural effusion on the lower left lung, even after being on Levaquin for 15 days. It could be COVID scarring, which might take longer to go away. Who knows."
