Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "Did excellent job with clearing up sinus infection. 4 days in, however, I got hit with pretty severe diarrhea. Dr. had me stop taking since I was so much improved in terms of the sinusitis and due to the side effects. Been 48 hrs of diarrhea. And 24 since I terminated the medication. Hopefully it resolves with the probiotics I'm taking and cessation of the Ceftin. I am concerned about the severe colitis I've read about but we shall see."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Bronchitis "After taking Ceftin (Cefuroxime) for 3 days, my throat swelled and my chest became more constricted. It felt as though I could not swallow well. I was dizzy, and anxious. I consulted the pharmacist who told me to take a Benadryl and if I didn't improve quickly, to get myself to the hospital. Within 5 minutes of taking the Benadryl I could feel my throat relaxing. After relating this situation to my daughter, she told me she had a similar experience with this drug when it was prescribed for her a year ago. "

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I was put on Ceftin for a sinus infection, 3 days later I developed terrible diarrhea with blood, found out it was called pseudomembraneous colitis. It is now a week later and I am still suffering from the side effects. "

For Lyme Disease "Got biten by a tick and doctor decided to put me on antibiotics to prevent lyme disease - even though there were no clear signs of lyme disease. Doctor prescribed this drug cefuroxime after only three pills of Doxycycline. Compared to the Doxycycline, this drug barely shows any side effects at all! First thing I noticed was a weird taste in my mouth a couple of minutes after swallowing my first pill (probably because it's bitter). Also been having a bit of lightheadedness and a bit less appetite. Oral thrush barely noticeable. But compared to the Doxycycline I absolutely recommend this antibiotic. Doesn't burn your stomach/esophagus, doesn't cause sun sensitivity, doesn't ruin your sense of taste and smell etc like the doxycycline did. I was able to take 500mg of this drug twice a day for three weeks. I gave up on Doxycycline just after the third pill since the side effects were DEVASTATING. Cefuroxime is a great antibiotic!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was diagnosed for UTI on 21/9/2019 and the doctor prescribed me two tabs cefuroxime a day. The medication is for 5 days. The antibiotic works as expected and has some side effects. I had a severe headache for two days and to get through it, I took a cup of cold milk with honey. On the note, I didn't have any pain during urination."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Sinusitis "I have been prescribed Ceftin multiple times over the course of 6 years to treat my sinusitis. Every time I have taken it, I have only been able to endure a few days before the incredibly harsh nature of this medicine on my stomach forces a doctor to stop the use. This week I was prescribed it again and 4 hours into the VERY FIRST PILL of my VERY FIRST DOSE, I began to feel terrible stabbing abdominal pain and then began over 24 hours of awful diarrrhea and vomiting. My body felt like it was going through a war. Now not only was I still battling through sinusitis, but due to taking this Ceftin I added symptoms of being in the throes of a stomach virus. I went to the doctor 12 hours into this episode whereby he told me NEVER TAKE THIS MEDICINE AGAIN....it clearly is having awful reactions with your body. This has really set me back now and thanks to the havoc it wrecked on my insides now I can’t take any meds orally for a bit until we can stabilize my stomach."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Bladder Infection "I have been on Cefuroxime 250 mg tabs (Generic for Ceftin) for 3 months, and my bladder infection has not improved. In fact, my urine is more bloody and continues getting worse. I have told my Dr. and requested a different, hopefully more effective, antibiotic, but she keeps pushing this one. I am about to change doctors if she does not change it or my condition worsens more."

For Sinusitis "I was amazed that this antibotic started taking effect after the 2nd dose (500 mg 2x/day). I have completed 2 days of 10 and although my head and ears still feel full, I can breath through my nose, have been sleeping through the night and have my energy level back. I am extremely pleased."

For Sinusitis "I have tried different sinus medications over the years and this seems to be the best of them all. Just 2 pills a day breakfast and dinner, no noticeable negative effects. Cured my bout of sinusitis in about 3-days but I continued to take it for the full 14 days."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I've been fighting a bad infection in my sinuses and chest for 3 weeks. I'm on day 2 of this drug and coughing up mucus now and hoping this is normal. I feel a lot better and can breath while lying down. What a relief!"

For Sinusitis "I've had sinus infection for over 4 weeks that just wasn't getting better - I was exhausted, no appetite, headaches, and the drainage from my sinus down my throat was starting to choke me at night. After seeing a doctor I found that my sinus infection has spread to my throat and ears and was prescribed 500mg 2x a day for 10 days. Two-three days in and I felt re-born! This is a miracle drug! I do however feel some heartburn and flatulence as I'm nearing the end of my prescription, but it is so worth it!"

For Sinusitis "I've had 2 sinus surgeries (hated them both) the last one (about 6 years ago)The packing was left in till I got a bad infection with a horrible smell hence the infection. After that, I have reoccurring sinus infections with that same terrible smell and must get on antibiotics right away they always clear up but never eradicate the infection as it always comes back, last time it took 3 years to come back. I'm going to phone my Dr. tomorrow and get Cefuroxime that I know will work. I hope this helps someone...cheers Albert ...out..."

For Urinary Tract Infection "1st took cefuroxime for 10 days and worked well but 3-4 days later symptoms returned (infection). After a week was re-given this drug. First 2 days had chills, feverish, swollen L hand (had cut on it) and developed chest pressure 2nd night. 3d day swelling in L hand diminished but chills and feverish symptoms persist."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I have an upper respiratory infection I have been on this medication for 3 full days so far and my fever is gone and my cough is a lot better. it's definitely effective the only problem is the side affects are awful! I'm extremely dizzy and have real low energy. This stuff works but it sucks the life out of you."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Had severe upper respiratory and sinus infection. Low-grade fever. I finished my prescription yesterday. This medicine made me feel better, combined with expectorant and Sudafed, as well as albuterol treatments. I can say it was hard on my stomach. The nausea and upset stomach were severe for me. I got the bad taste in my mouth side effect, too. I'm still coughing today and am fatigued; however, I do feel better, and my sinuses are clearing up. I had a seven-day treatment. Normally, I have to take two Z-Pak treatments. Let's hope this round of antibiotics is effective."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I came down with a UTI on 4/1/17. My Primary Care Provider couldn't get me in so I ended up going to Urgent Care on 4/6/17 as I couldn't stand to suffer any longer. (I have compromised kidneys so nearly every time I get a UTI it develops into a kidney infection) The Urgent Care doctor prescribed me Cefuroxime. I was surprised when I picked it up from the pharmacy because it wasn't the same anti-biotic that I normally get prescribed for my UTI/kidney infections. Today is 4/10/17 and I still feel absolutely awful. It seems to be having no effect. I'm used to feeling better relatively quickly with the other antibiotic that I'm normally prescribed. I guess I'll be heading back to the doctor this week!"

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "It quickly helped get rid of the infection in my throat BUT it is very hard to take. The taste of the pill is horrible and sticks around for a long time in the back of your throat. I used flavored yogurt to help counteract the flavor after I swallowed the pill. It also starts dissolving quickly so it tended to get stuck in my throat."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed with Cefuroxime ( 2x500mg/day for 16 days) and prednisolone (60mg x 4 days, then 40mg x 4 days then 20mg x 4 days then 10mg x 4 days) The combination works very well with in the second day of the usage. I can breath well and yellow mucus came out well, hopefully in a week I will be fine. I am using netipot couple of times a day to cleanse the sinus and having single dosage of claritin and flunase as a prevention dosage. Not sure how much does side effect does prednisolone will cause, since this is first time I am using and hopefully doesn't hurt me. I read prednisolone is a steroid and I feel we have to avoid it."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Very gentle antibiotic for me. With every other kind I've taken, on the first dose, I expect it to feel like it "hit bottom" in my stomach. This one did not make my stomach upset one bit. A surprise. Had a cold for 1.5 weeks and it came back a few days later (after some sinus pains) Sinuses opened up and a torrent of mucus poured down my throat, caused laryngitis. was getting worse so I decided to suck it up and take these. I was VERY apprehensive at first because I think antibiotics should be a last resort. I have a trip abroad coming up so, no time to be sick. Started working the day I took it. It is now day 4 on them and my voice came back. I've been sipping kefir and taking a probiotic between doses. I don't know if this will cause a yeast infection, but I still might take a fluconazole after my prescription is finished if I feel ANY hint of discomfort. So far so good though. Penicillins usually give me instant vaginal yeast infections! Cleared my cystic acne too!"

For Sinusitis "I've been sick with a sinus/ear/eye infection and after a very painful night during which I nearly choke on all the phlegm I was prescribed Cefuroxime 500 mg twice a day for 10 days. I expected it to work right away but it took about 3 days for the symptoms to lessen. No side effects to report. I think it works, just give it time. I also use saline nasal spray and take Tylenol, vitamins etc."

For Sinusitis "I typically get two bad sinus infections every year and have tried many different antibiotics but this med. seems to work very well for me. After a few days I start to feel better but I must continue the Meds. for at least four more days or I will have a relapse to my sinus infection."

Ceftin (cefuroxime) for Pneumonia "I developed pneumonia from COVID and a sinus infection after I was COVID negative, still with lingering pneumonia. I was given Levaquin and it seemed to be working. But I developed a severe reaction to it, insomnia, shaking, panic attacks, nightmares, dizziness, and felt like I was having a mental breakdown. I told my doctor I need to get off Levaquin and why, and he prescribed a 10-day course of Ceftin. After two days being off Levaquin and now taking Ceftin, no more anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, dizziness, etc, Sinuses seem better. and less coughing. No diarrhea yet at two days in. Will go for CT scan in 18 days to see if chest is cleared from pneumonia, as they saw small pleural effusion on lower left lung, even after being on Levaquin for 15 days.It could be COVID scarring, which might take longer to go away. Who knows."
