For Gonococcal Infection, Uncomplicated "Found out I had gonorrhea. Doctor prescribed this and antibiotic pills (doxy). The shot is not as painful as everyone says, especially if you take precautions: 1. Insist that they mix the shot with lidocaine, 2. Ice it when you get home, ice it before bed. I got it in the left arm, and I was rock climbing the next day. Symptoms decreased significantly 6 hours after the shot."

For Bacterial Infection "My doctor prescribed this for a tooth infection until I could get to the dentist. I have problems with my stomach and can't take oral antibiotics. I had 2 grams the first day, then one gram for the next 4 days. It seems to be helping the infection, but I started having pain between my shoulder blades and belching. I also had bloating and pain in my stomach. So, same stomach issues as oral antibiotics."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Got 3 doses over 3 days for E. coli UTI. Helped immediately after a failed course of Suprax. Now continuing with a 7-day course of nitrofurantoin to complete treatment. When administered intravenously, no pain at all. Love this antibiotic for UTI relief."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Woke up and had pain in my right side to the point I was doubled over, went to ER. They gave me a shot of Rocephin and Toradol for pain. Was fine for about 3 hours and then started vomiting and didn't stop, it was brown and black and awful. My neck, side, and legs hurt. I'm not doubled over anymore, but still hurting and headaches, so I'm not really sure it has helped. Was given a prescription for Nitrofurantoin mono 100 mg and now I'm scared to take it after reading the reviews. I can't handle the side effects right now."

For Urinary Tract Infection "My daughter (5) got up one morning and went to the bathroom at least 40 times in 10 minutes (autistic, can talk but not with things like that) and I thought she was just being weird until it clicked it was a UTI. Took her to the Urgent Care and was running a fever and positive screen for UTI. Doctor recommended this shot to get treatment started and I thought about it for a minute and said do it and my daughter was better within an hour playing outside. The shot was obviously painful for her, she didn't enjoy it at all. And was prescribed additional antibiotics for 7 days. Glad we did the shot. I was surprised at its fast-acting abilities."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given the shot today, after having finished a 7-day antibiotic which did not help my UTI at all. After reading the reviews, I see most people's symptoms cleared within 4-6 hours, however, I cannot say the same. I hope by the time I wake up I notice a difference. It's been 3 weeks, 2 oral antibiotics, lots of azo, and now the Rocephin shot. Let's cross our fingers and hope it makes the difference!"

For Bacterial Infection "TMI, I was burning pretty bad down there. It was the worst pain I had ever experienced down there. I finally gave in and went to an urgent care. Come to find out, I had a raging UTI. I had never had one before, so I had no idea. The doctor gave me a shot of Rocephin in the butt and boom, the next day I was back to normal. They made me wait 10-15 minutes before I could leave to make sure I didn’t have any side effects. I really recommend getting this if you have a UTI. I know that there are antibiotics out there for UTIs, but most of them take a couple of days to start feeling relief."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I live in Africa. I had weird headaches for two weeks, with back pains and abdominal pains. Went to the hospital and was diagnosed with malaria and severe UTI. The doctor put me on malaria pills and Rocephin for 5 days. After two injections, I feel much better. Can’t wait to finish all my injections. But my hand is swollen from the injections."

For Bronchitis "I was given this medicine after my doctor and discovered I pretty much had an absent immune system. I have been on several pill antibiotics, and nothing was working anymore. I had this medicine by IV in a doctor's office one time. My infection finally went away. I didn't have any reaction to this medicine."

For Bacterial Infection "I received Rocephin for treatment of thyroiditis through IV in a diluent 2 years back. Just after 3 to 4 minutes of IV infusion, my body started getting warmth and severe itching on the whole body along with sweating. The medication was immediately stopped, however, the feeling continued for the next 10 to 15 minutes. I was given an antidote immediately to reduce the symptoms and was shifted to ICU for vital observation. It was the worst experience of my life with any antibiotics. It didn't work for me. But everyone must also be careful if they are getting it for the first time."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I suspected that I had a UTI before we left for a week in Florida with my three kids, their spouses, and my six grandsons. I was sick the entire time and ended up in the emergency room in Destin. They gave me IV Rocephin and a prescription for oral antibiotics to finish when I got back to the house. I won't say it started helping right away, but it did help cure my severe UTI. I haven't had any blaring side effects, and I don't know whether to attribute this to the medication or to my illness, but nothing tastes the same since I was sick. I'm nauseous, but not all the time, and again I can't attribute that to the medication because I was so nauseous during the course of the illness. I'm very grateful for it."

For Pneumonia "Got sick really fast, had bad sinus drainage, fever, and coughed up my lungs (it felt like) with so much force. My doctor did an X-ray, which was normal, but I’ve had pneumonia several times, so he started me on Rocephin and a steroid shot. The next day, another shot of Rocephin and day three, another plus a few steroid pills, 20 mg, but those make my head almost explode. I can do the shots better. It seems I’m still coughing, but mucus is getting clearer. But I’m happy to have a doctor that knows me and how fast I can get sick. I’m putting my ankle surgery off, I was supposed to have it next week but am waiting three more weeks to get stronger."

For Bone infection "Went to urgent care for a bad case of pharyngitis. Previously, I was on amoxicillin for ten days, which seemed to help, but the infection came back. The doctor ordered blood work and a gram of IV Rocephin. The Rocephin was pushed for 30 minutes, and it hurt a bit going in. I was put on oral Axetil for another ten days. It’s been four days since the IV, and the injection site is tender, and I have a huge red bruise that wraps around and extends to the elbow. The throat feels better — my arm, not so much."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have been suffering with a UTI infection. My PCP tried all kinds of antibiotics, nothing worked. Unfortunately, I cannot take oral medication due to my stomach sensitivity. Oral medication produces acid reflux on me extremely badly. Then I went to the ER last October, I was admitted to the hospital. I was given Rocephin IV, only 1 dose. It worked, and I was sent home. I was supposed to get five days of oral treatment, but that did not happen. I did not have any pain anymore. Anywhere after a few months, it began again, and I was given the generic injection, which was painful and did not work."

For Bacterial Infection "Got this shot 4 1/2 hours ago. Let me tell you, miracles exist! I was dying from a severe sore throat, and my tonsils were so red and swollen. I couldn’t even swallow my own saliva. I had headaches so bad that I felt my head would explode. This shot is amazing. I can swallow again, I can breathe with my mouth closed. Wow."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given Macrobid and Cipro first for my UTI at urgent care. Both made me throw up, even with Zofran, so I went back. The doctor gave me this shot. I got it in my buttock, and it didn't hurt at all. The liquid burned a little, but I mean biting my tongue hurts worse than that. Overall, I'm super happy because my symptoms are gone a lot faster than with antibiotic pills, which always upset my stomach anyways. I will be asking for this for every UTI I get moving forward."

For Bacterial Infection "I 100% recommend this drug for anyone with an intense infection. I am currently on Flagyl due to a C. Diff infection, and my doctor advised me not to take any antibiotics orally. Was diagnosed with a double ear infection and a chest infection after going into urgent care for symptoms unrelated to C. Diff. Let them know everything, and my care plan now involves using this injection to clear up my ear and chest infections through my muscles instead of the digestive tract since I am still taking Flagyl. The injection stung a tad when injected, but I hardly felt anything other than that due to my fear of rupture in my eardrum. Honestly, I couldn't say how big the needle was because I was too focused on what was being said about the possible rupture. I have 2 more injections to do over the next two days, and I am looking forward to them. This is a miracle. I already feel less pressure in my ears, and it's only been 6 hours. I expect this to be gone very soon! So pleased. No side effects to me at all."

For Bacterial Infection "Suffer with lower back pain, so I did not notice the kidney infection forming. Went to the ER as pain was increasing and moving to the flank right side. Turns out it was an acute right-sided kidney infection with stone blockage, as well as bladder involvement. This antibiotic was a serious lifesaver, as the pain was becoming intolerable. Within 24 hours, a marked improvement. For anyone with a reaction, it is related to penicillin, and if you have a reaction to penicillin, it’s not a medication you should have. Not a drug company issue, but an individual issue. Each medication can affect each individual differently, no way to foresee an issue from the drug company, but the treating physician should have warned that if you have a penicillin reaction, then this too will affect you. I was asked by the physician and went over allergies prior to injection. Fully informed on each medication I ever take. Highly recommend, the injection does have a real burn to it, worth the end result! Best of luck to all."

For Pneumonia "My son was running high 102-104 fevers, took him to the ER on Tuesday night. A chest x-ray confirmed upper left lung pneumonia. Was put on 2,000 mg of amoxicillin 2x per day. Was still running high fevers like before and went back to the ER Thursday night with pneumonia that spread through the rest of his left lung. He received 2,000 mg of Rocephin by IV 1 a.m. Friday morning. Twenty-one hours later, he is still getting high fevers. This latest one being 103. I'm starting to think this antibiotic isn't working."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had one intravenous dose of Rocephin. Within a few minutes, I developed a burning/tingling in my fingertips and in my chest. It has been one day, and it has not gone away. Do not know if UTI is better, as I never really had much pain. Just discovered with urinalysis. I do not like the side effects if they are permanent."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Cannot say enough about a shot of Rocephin to kick start getting rid of an infection along with Cephdnir if you have had a urine culture to say it is susceptible to antibiotics. A common bacteria Klebsiella infection, especially in older women such as myself who have had a total hysterectomy. One word of advice: get a culture done. I have also had to have three shots for strep that kept coming back, knocked it out finally after six months. No side effects."

For Lyme Disease, Neurologic "After 4 weeks of PICC line daily, I needed gallbladder removal. I was supposed to do 8 weeks of treatment. I ended up stopping at 4. Never completed treatment. I never felt better, I felt terrible every day. I was sick, vomiting, headache, body aches, weak. But most of that is normal other than vomiting and gallbladder. It was also a little inconvenient. But no Lyme is great. I never feel good at all. I'm in a wheelchair now. I'm not well anymore. I don't know that I'll be well until I get remission and a lot of physical therapy between now and then."

For Middle Ear Infections "My son is very sensitive to the taste of liquid meds, but he doesn’t quite weigh enough for the pill form of most meds. He had an ear infection that mostly went away with amoxicillin, but when he got another cold, it came back with a vengeance. This shot was recommended as an alternative to the liquid antibiotics. After one dose, it started working, but not quite 100%. After the second dose, we saw a huge improvement in his symptoms! He’s supposed to go back today for a potential third dose after a recheck. While he doesn’t love the actual shot, my little guy is so grateful to have an alternative to the liquid meds. I’m just happy he’s finally starting to feel better after almost a month of constant ear trouble."
