Ceftriaxone "I had a shot of Rocephin 1g in my (R) gluteus 1 week and 1 day ago. The pain upon injection was a 5.5 on a scale of 10. It is a big shot, and it takes several seconds to administer. This was to treat a middle ear infection, which turned out to be a burst eardrum. The ear started getting better (less pain and less full feeling) within 24 hours, but the pain from the shot is still a 2-2.5 on a scale of 10, 8 days after administration."

Ceftriaxone "My daughter gets ear infections, and along with that, she gets nightly vomiting. Keeping the oral antibiotics down is difficult, then after 10 days, it's still not gone. Thanks for Rocephin, it is the only thing that really gets the job done. Why have your little one suffer?"

Ceftriaxone "I have been given this for otitis media and upper respiratory infections. It is a good 'kick start,' but the full effect is only achieved after a three-day course of injections. It works, but is quite painful, especially for pediatric patients."

"I've gotten this ceftriaxone shot at least five times in my life. Most recently, and every time for double ear infections. They shot me in my butt with two shots, one this, and the other was a steroid. Either way, I don't have back issues whatsoever, and my lower back is usually on fire, it really hurts! I most definitely feel this shot is worth whatever pain you are going through to need it. Suffer through the pain and get by."

"Had this antibiotic injection for an ear infection. Recommended by a friend in the medical profession, she said it works better than anything else. Stings a bit going in the butt, but absolutely worth it, felt better a few hours after the injection. One and done. I would not hesitate to get this if it happens again. Sometimes you might need a second or third, but it is still the best option out there."

"I was on holiday in the Galápagos Islands when my middle ear infection returned. I was put on amoxicillin for 7 days, but the infection was getting worse. I went completely deaf and had drainage all over my pillow every morning. I went to the hospital in Santa Cruz and was told Mesporin would be the best solution: 3 injections into my bum. I’m not scared of needles, but the amount of fluid that went into my bum was insane! It took about 7-8 seconds to get it in, and my bum was on fire. I was screaming and crying so much that I had to be given pain relief in my arm. The next day, I went back for the second injection, and they mixed an anesthetic in with the vial. This was painful but definitely manageable. On the final day, I asked if I could get it in an IV, and this was the least painful way, I was very happy. My infection still remained, so I was given another dose in the form of 500mg pills! My blood results showed the infection was decreasing, and I was given the clear to head back to sea."

Ceftriaxone "My son is very sensitive to the taste of liquid meds, but he doesn’t quite weigh enough for the pill form of most meds. He had an ear infection that mostly went away with amoxicillin, but when he got another cold, it came back with a vengeance. This shot was recommended as an alternative to the liquid antibiotics. After one dose, it started working, but not quite 100%. After the second dose, we saw a huge improvement in his symptoms! He’s supposed to go back today for a potential third dose after a recheck. While he doesn’t love the actual shot, my little guy is so grateful to have an alternative to the liquid meds. I’m just happy he’s finally starting to feel better after almost a month of constant ear trouble."

Ceftriaxone "My son had severe ear infection and was placed on two different antibiotics. Neither worked. After having five straight days of a fever of 104 and vomiting, the doctor gave my two-year-old a shot of Rocephin, and his fever was gone by the next morning, and his ears started to clear up. Thank you to the makers of this medicine."
