Buspirone for Anxiety "Was hesitant to take this pill after reading all the reviews and then finally decided to give it a try. HUGE mistake. My mind felt like it was getting electrocuted. I felt dizzy, lightheaded, and it was extremely unpleasant. I called my doctor immediately! I ended up forcing myself to take a nap, and when I woke up, thankfully they had subsided. It’s been about an hour since I awoke, and I feel extremely tired and exhausted! I do not recommend this if you are highly sensitive to medication!"

For Anxiety "Buspirone saved my life, it helped me sleep. I can take it or leave it without withdrawal. Its help stabilizes my mood in regards to BPD. The only negative thing is it can make you tired. This is not so good with my fibromyalgia symptoms. Although it makes me rest and thus pain is lesser, after a few days I can miss the morning dose and do a few more things than I would be able to otherwise. It's also helped me stop cannabis, which I used to use to relax. Thus, I'm finally at the stages of complete smoking cessation, including tobacco. My breathing is easier. I look forward to cutting back. I have been on it for 2 years following major trauma and PTSD. It also helps with depression."

For Anxiety "I have mild (sometimes severe) anxiety. I’m a college student, and I work in the medical field, so I wanted something that could cure my anxiety but not change me as a person and make me become someone I wasn’t (drowsy, lethargic, inattentive) like I've heard many anxiety medications can make people. I needed something to keep me calm but clear-minded. I’m taking 10 mg. I am a relatively small female, so I was a bit worried it might make me dizzy or tired, instead, it truly saved me. My anxiety and worry and overthinking were really taking over my everyday life. Now I feel clear-minded and calm without feeling like I'm drugged up. It feels genuine. This is the help I needed. Anyone who has rated this drug poorly, it’s because they wanted something harder like alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam, diazepam, etc. which sometimes is needed for people going through more traumatic experiences like PTSD. But if you have pretty general anxiety, this will 100% help you."

For Anxiety "Been on 5 mg twice a day. I try to take less. So far, it really helps the anxiety, but the side effects of sleepiness and dizziness. And feeling tired. Will hang in there. Only been 4 days. I also use Holy Mama tincture to help. Will give an update after a few weeks."

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "I also experienced my first asthma attack ever on this medication. I don't see it listed as an official side effect, but I've never encountered anything like it before, and just putting my 2 cents in. I've tried just about every SSRI and SNRI under the sun as well, so while I'm not guaranteeing it's not a coincidence, I'm pretty well past the point of attributing everything that happens to me to my medications. Aside from that, it worked maybe... 10%? But I think the majority of that was the sedation, which wears off as the sedation does. Other side effects for me were worse sleep, anger, nightmares, weight gain, and tiredness."

For Anxiety "Started the medication a few months ago and has dramatically changed my life. Diagnosed with PTSD and with the anxiety, it ruined my life until this med. I don’t have to take depression meds anymore because it’s helped me not overthink, and I’ve been able to regulate my emotions easier. Mixed with hydroxyzine for panic, it’s like a perfect mix to make me feel like a normal person. Side effects I experienced are lack of concentration the first hour, and I become a bit tired, but taking a nap or taking it at night will help a lot. If you’re new to medications, I would recommend taking one at night before recommending twice a day, so your body gets used to being tired, but the tired feeling only lasts for an hour or two."

For Panic Disorder "This medication saved me! I was having daily panic attacks that were very physical and completely out of nowhere. I would think I was not getting a full breath. I would think that my chest was tightening and my body would go numb. My mind would become fuzzy, and I would be paralyzed with fear. It happened during my classes, in movies, when I was out to eat, and I started feeling bad that those around me had to deal with me. Eventually, I just knew that it was a panic attack, and I would cry until it passed every day in the nurse's office at school. This was 5 years ago, and I have been on buspar ever since! I have not had ONE bad panic attack in 5 years. I would advise taking it before bed, it makes you feel weird and tired, like dead weight."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Geez. I started BuSpar 2 weeks ago in the hospital. They had me taking 5 mg twice a day. My psych said to take three times a day because I have come off Ativan. My issue is, the first dose works great, the second one I take at 6:00 knocks me on my butt after I eat. Literally, I become kind of lethargic, I am also med sensitive. Help, please."

For Anxiety "I've been taking this medication for two days, and I'm already feeling a little happier and calmer. The only thing I have an issue with is I take this in the morning and in the evening. When I take it, I feel very weak and tired for thirty minutes to an hour after. I have pretty much passed out for like an hour after I've taken it. When I wake up, though, I feel pretty good, so I'll take the nap. It's worth it, lol. Very satisfied with this drug so far."

For Anxiety "I have been on this medication since October 2018. Originally given 10 mg twice per day. Could not function at all. I got dizzy and tired. Had to leave work one day. Could not sleep at night. Told my doctor and his answer was 'take NyQuil.' Decided myself to taper to 15 mg and at night only. Did that for a while. Recently, it seemed to just get worse. I have worked down to 10 mg for now, but after reading reviews, I am ready to quit. I had a few panic attacks recently, and I can't go on like this. Overall, I felt dizzy, tired, spacey, more anxious, and it completely changed my diet. I also think it gave me stomach issues."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I've been on this for about 3 weeks now. At first, I thought it was helping my anxiety a bit, but then I realized it was just making me tired and loopy after I took it, and that's worn off now (which is good, but now I realized it wasn't helping). Giving it 3 stars because it didn't hurt me except for the tired, loopy feeling, and I can't orgasm easily at all. Also, my appetite is gone, so I've lost some weight, which is nice except having no appetite meant I wasn't taking in enough calories, so I was even more tired. Basically, it was just pointless and didn't help."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I'm taking BuSpar for anxiety that I'm having due to an injury. I broke my wrist about 8 weeks ago, and I am in a cast from the tip of my thumb to just below the elbow. My doctor told me I might be in this cast for 12 weeks or significantly longer. I started having bad anxiety and panic attacks. So my family doctor put me on BuSpar and Zoloft for the duration of being in a cast. So far, it hasn't seemed to help very much, 7.5 mg twice daily. I'm hoping that it will start helping with the anxiety. I do feel a little lightheaded and I'm always tired. This isn't my first broken bone or cast, but this is the first time I've ever experienced anxiety."

For Anxiety "I started Buspar after having several panic attacks that sent me to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. I take 1 in the AM and occasionally I'll do one at night. At times I feel it helps, but recently I think it's doing more harm than good. First off, the side effects: I feel highish for a little bit after it kicks in, and not really a pleasant feeling. I get super hot and begin to sweat, and my temp goes up to 99ish. Disoriented, shaky, and lethargic. What's so odd is if I take it at night, I can't sleep - at all. Paranoid dreams. I'm writing this at 1:30 in the morning because I can't sleep. I'm gonna quit this and see what happens... maybe I should just get a weed card and try that because this thing makes me feel like I'm a lab rat."

For Anxiety "I was prescribed Buspirone to help with anxiety, and it did absolutely nothing for my anxiety, it probably made it worse, actually. I get migraines a few times a year, but on Buspirone, I was getting migraines every single day. My psychiatrist said migraines weren't a side effect and it should actually help with migraines -- it was definitely giving me serious migraines every day. It also made me restless, more anxious, more nervous, caused diarrhea, and exhaustion. I stopped after one week because the side effects were so bad."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I have been taking BuSpar 10 mg 3 times a day for the past 3 months for anxiety and panic attacks. I think, for the most part, my panic attacks have subsided, but I still experience a bit of anxiety and increased blood pressure. I do take Xanax 0.25 mg from time to time if my anxiety gets too bad or too stressed. I do notice I feel slightly lethargic and run down most of the time while I have been on this. Also, after each dose, I get some dizziness about 45 minutes afterwards, which lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. I used to have a spark to me before taking it, but I guess I'll take the good with the bad for the time being."

For Anxiety "I take buspirone 10 mg 3x daily, it works very well for me for my anxiety and panic attacks. The doctor added this on to my Zoloft 150 mg daily. These meds work nicely together. Only side effects would be dry mouth, and sometimes I'm a bit more tired. It takes time to work. Give it time."

For Anxiety "I've tried a lot of different meds over the last 15 years. This has by far been the worst for side effects. I've been on buspirone for 7 days (10 mg 2x a day). I would rather go through the withdrawal from benzos than the side effects from buspirone. It has the most intense side effects I've ever felt. Way worse than starting Cymbalta, which was kind of bad. I haven't really slept now for 3 days. It doesn't cause me any anxiety, but the side effects-lightheadedness, headaches, tinnitus, lethargy, muscle weakness, my entire body has this super intense tingling and itching sensation, pounding heartbeat, and loss of appetite-are intense enough for the last 3 days that I can't sleep. I'm past my point of being able to tolerate the sides. I have to say this one just isn't for me at all. Worst damn medication I've tried for social anxiety ever. Can't wait for this to clear my system so I can finally sleep and regain some sanity. I would rather deal with the anxiety than this feeling."

For Anxiety "I take 10 mg twice a day, with food. The pamphlet says to take either with or without food, but be consistent. The only frequent side effect is tiredness, but I was always tired anyway. Infrequently, I will get dizzy and nauseated for about 40 minutes after taking, depending on how much caffeine I have had or how long after a meal I wait to take it. I noticed results after the first few doses, though I was warned that it may take longer. My mood has noticeably improved, as well as my ability to handle day-to-day tasks like talking on the phone. I still have situational-based anxiety, but that is more manageable than general anxiety. I have noticed that if I am a few hours late for a dose, I get irritable for the next few doses."

For Anxiety "I was very nervous to take any medication, but after trying therapy, some meditation, and self-help, I decided to try buspirone. Other stuff helped to some extent. I was so anxious. To start, I split 7.5 pills in half and started at 7.5 mg a day. After a month, I increased it to 3 times a day. Again, I split 7.5 in half, so I'm taking 3 times a day for a total of 11.25 mg a day total current dosage last (6) months. Pros: I did start to feel less anxious, I didn't overreact to stress like I used to. I still get anxious, but it's probably decreased by about 60-70%, which is fine. Some anxiety is fine. I'm glad I take it. Cons: I do feel tired, especially the first month or two, and sometimes still. I currently added bupropion (Wellbutrin) for depression."

For Borderline Personality Disorder "The first couple of weeks, I dealt with foggy-headedness and fatigue after taking it. After two weeks, I began feeling agitated. This only got worse as PMS started. I was filled with so much panic, and everything was irritating me. I also felt lethargic and empty inside. I discontinued and started feeling better."

For Anxiety "I have major panic problems and bad anxiety, as well as PTSD from a past traumatic experience. Unfortunately, this medication did not work for me. I have tried it a number of different times over a few years, and each time I suffered from bad headaches. I was recently prescribed Xanax and have found it beneficial for my anxiety. However, it leaves me feeling very tired and having a brain fog. I would not recommend driving while using it. I do not want to continue Xanax, as it can be addictive and the tiredness is affecting me. I will try to find an alternative medication that can help. In the meantime, I will keep Xanax on hand in case it is severely needed. Stay healthy!"

For Anxiety "Took for antenatal anxiety. My OB said it was one of the least likely meds to give side effects. After trying to give it a go, the side effects have gotten out of control, and I can’t do it. I’ve been waking up with intense nightmares and been unable to fall back asleep, which isn’t helping my anxiety. My eyes have been itching nonstop since starting. The GI issues are terrible (nonstop nausea, burping, diarrhea, feeling dehydrated and unable to drink enough water). I’ve been insanely dizzy, exhausted, and foggy-headed to the point where I can’t get anything done or concentrate (also having ADHD, this is making it 10x worse). My chest keeps getting this weird pain shortly after I take it, I have ringing in my ears, and the headaches have been so severe I’ve had to take multiple headache pills every day. I also just feel really out of it and uncomfortable in my own skin. I do feel slightly happier from this medicine, but that slight pro is not worth all the cons."

For Anxiety "This is scary. Doctor put me on this 3 weeks ago. Made my depression horrible. I'm extremely mean to my 2-year-old. I have passed out twice, one of which I crashed my car in a field! I have dry mouth, dizziness, shaking, my body will jerk. I have a rash on my neck, constipation, insomnia. I'm exhausted but just can't sleep. And that's all I want is to sleep!!! And I've probably eaten a handful of pretzels in the last week. I feel so sick all the time :( and I'm on a low dose!"

For Anxiety "Was on a low dose of 5 mg of buspirone twice a day, then increased to 10 mg, I never actually took the 10 mg because my side effects were too bad. First of all, it did nothing for the anxiety, but it did make me more moody and irritable (probably because it made me feel so crappy). Had vivid, terrible lucid dreams at first, but that went away after a week. I had a constant headache that didn't go away, was more tired, very dizzy, nauseous, yet had cravings, had to pee all the time, hot flashes and sweating, insomnia, also felt achy. Doctor wants to prescribe this instead of benzos, but I don't have any of those side effects with benzos, and they actually do something for the anxiety!"
