BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "I've been taking BuSpar for a year. I feel like I can manage my life better when I'm on it. I can cope so much better with my life's stressors, especially the ones related to taking care of my daughter, who has autism. I used to get overwhelmed easily. With BuSpar, I am more patient, not explosive or impulsive. Also, I used to have so many negative or catastrophic automatic thoughts all the time. On BuSpar, I rarely have them. BuSpar has worked great for me."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "While the success rate for BuSpar has always been approximately 20 percent since inception, it seems to be making a comeback with psychiatrists since they don't like prescribing benzos. Nothing has changed, this is medication with low efficacy and many intolerable side effects."

For Sexual Dysfunction, SSRI Induced "I am 72, taken SSRIs for several years. Libido disappeared. Recently started taking buspar. After 3 weeks, things started happening. Now I am back in action, not every night but hey, I am not 18 either, and it helps with anxiety."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Panic Disorder "This medicine Buspar is a lifesaver for me. Recently, I am experiencing anxiety and a serious panic attack. My PCP prescribed me 7.5mg of this med, not the brand though. After a couple of days, I am feeling much better. This medicine does not make me sleepy or zombie. I am functionally normal throughout the day and I could focus on solving the problem than worry about the problem. Thanks to BuSpar."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "This has literally been my miracle drug, it's made my anxiety almost disappear, and I've had no side effects either. I tried Hydroxyzine, and it did nothing but knock me out. I also tried Amitriptyline, and it did nothing. But when I tried BuSpar, after a week or so, it was like I finally felt okay and calm. I've gotten my appetite back, my physical symptoms went away, I can think clearly, it's just all around a great drug, at least in my experience."

For Anxiety "This medication buspirone was recommended to me for anxiety after taking Lamictal for around 6 months. During that time my depression got better but anxiety got worse. To combat this, my doctor put me on 10mg twice a day. Unfortunately, my anxiety appears to have gotten even worse, and the side effects have been terrible even after 2 months. Sensations of dizziness, headache, disorientation, and disassociation occurred daily. Almost always twice a day, but sometimes up to 4 times lasting 30-45 minutes but at most 2 hours. Abdominal pains, loss of appetite also. Physiological panic attacks have occurred daily as well. I don't act anxious but my body is seething. Heart rate, heated flushedness, agitation, fear, uncontrollable inner narrative, etc. I feel awful on it and fear after quarantine this side effects will be detrimental for my job in commercial electric work with large machinery and power tools."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "BuSpar works so well for me personally. I've tried so many other medications, and BuSpar is the only one that helps control my anxiety. I feel in control of my anxiety and emotions again, and I'm able to live a productive and happy life."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "Taking BuSpar at a dose of 10 mgs 3 times a day for anxiety does very little. It's a substitute to shut you up because your doctor's hands are tied to write prescriptions that work. Like Xanax and Valium."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "Female, age 60. I have taken BuSpar for 20 years, starting in 1992 at age 40. I would go off for 3 years after being on for 3 years. I had a horrible relapse of anxiety and would have to go back on. Now I have been on it for 6 years without stopping at 5mg 3 times a day. I love BuSpar and plan to stay on it for life without stopping. I have done things that I could never do without BuSpar, like hiking the Grand Canyon at age 58, just driving there would have given me panic, let alone dealing with day to day stress. I will take my chances with long-term use, better than feeling sick daily, not being able to eat, sleep, or leave the house. That's no way to live. Side effects for me include slight dizziness."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "I have been on BuSpar for over a month now. 5mg x2 daily. I was on BuSpar several years ago and stopped because I didn't feel I needed it anymore, that was a mistake. I suffer from GAD which was destroying my life: racing thoughts, stomach problems, constant fear, and panic. This medication is not a Benzo, so don't expect immediate results. For me, it took approximately 2 weeks before I really started to feel the effects. This drug is not an SSRI, and it hasn't caused any sexual problems for me as some SSRIs are known to do. The side effects I have experienced are flushing and dizziness, however, they subside about an hour after taking. BuSpar does have a fairly short half-life, and I can feel the effects diminish after about 4 hours. I'm also on Valium 2mg (10 per month) as needed when my anxiety becomes elevated, but while on BuSpar, I haven't really had a need for the Valium, but I'm glad I have it just in case. I would recommend this medication for anyone suffering from panic attacks/GAD. Don't give up!"

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "I have been taking BuSpar for 8 plus years. I still have some side effects of dizziness if taken on an empty stomach and coffee, but I think that is asking for trouble. I can honestly say it saved my marriage and family life. High-stressed medical position always being on call which increased my anxiety. Anxiety was at such a level that no one could stand to be around me. I take 10mg once in the morning, which lowers my anxiety to a tolerable level for the day. When I feel extra stress coming on, I take 10mg in the morning and 10mg at night. It does not work for everyone, as many have mentioned, but it has given me a second wind to enjoy life to the fullest."

For Anxiety "This buspirone was prescribed during quarantine, so it took me a while to distinguish the medicine's side effects from how I would otherwise be processing this difficult situation. Over the span of 2 months, I thought I was just increasingly extremely fatigued from trying to stay at and work from home with a 2-year-old and 5-year-old, with no set end in sight. I went to bed early, didn't sleep well, and couldn't get out of bed. My sex drive disappeared. I ate too much, and the consistency of rapid 20-pound weight gain in my stomach and neck was odd - my mid-section was tight, and my throat was bloated (I later figured out this was water retention). Instead of my general happy nature, I felt listless and hopeless. Then I read about other people experiencing the same side effects and felt relief that it wasn't just how I was now. I phased myself off. My sleep and appetite immediately went back to normal, and I feel energy and optimism again."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Sexual Dysfunction, SSRI Induced "I have taken many antidepressants and a lot of them took away my desire for sex. I did not know that this medicine could help. I did not get this medicine for this reason. I also take Lexapro for bipolar and depression...so I think it could be worth a try to see if this medicine helps. I took clonazepam for years and my doctor wanted to try something new with this medicine.."

For Sexual Dysfunction, SSRI Induced "So I tried Lexapro last year for 3 months or so and it completely got rid of my sex drive and ability to orgasm. It took the edge off my anxiety but the effects weren't THAT mind-blowing, it wasn't worth the side effects. Recently, my anxiety started flaring up pretty bad, so I talked to my doctor who suggested I try Buspar. I haven't been on it long enough to really know if it's going to help the anxiety because it comes and goes, but I can say after a week that it DOES increase libido. I noticed I had the desire nightly (usually it's 1-2 times a week) so I looked it up and found this forum of similar accounts! I'm like, what if this is the answer to my problems... it helps with anxiety AND will help me match my husband's drive haha. I'm a believer!"

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "I have suffered from severe anxiety for about 3 years now. I've tried BuSpar for a little bit and it helped some but I didn't keep taking it. I just had to post what has taken 90% of my anxiety away, and that's cardio exercise daily. I started going to the gym and riding the bike with the heart rate monitor on it. I got my heart rate to 120 beats per minute and held it there until I got tired, then slowed down to rest a couple of minutes, and then sped up again. I'm a crane operator and mostly sit all day in my crane. The very first day I sustained a higher heart rate by exercising for 15 minutes, my anxiety levels plummeted. Every day after that it has gotten better. Before taking drugs for anxiety, try fast walking for 15 minutes. It will help!"

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "Before starting buspirone, I read some awful reviews on it which made me not want to take it. I am now glad that I did start taking it as I've had zero side effects, and it is slowly making me feel a little more human."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "I had depression for years, and in the last 8 months, that turned into anxiety. It gave severe shoulder and abdominal pain, sweaty palms, and a pounding heart. It ruined my career and my social life, affecting my decision-making. Finally, after trying to fight it without using medication, I had to go see a doctor because I couldn't take it anymore. The doctor gave me buspirone and recommended 3x 5mg a day. I started with 1 5mg every 24 hours, and I can tell a difference. I am calm and sleep better. The physical pain is almost gone, which I assume was happening due to the surge of my stress hormones that are now under control. It has been 3 days of peace and quiet, and I hope it stays this way."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "Was misdiagnosed for months and took several prescriptions for another diagnosis. Symptoms worsened and felt like I was in a hole I couldn’t scratch out of. Was taken off all meds, started on BuSpar 10mg 3x a day and have never felt better. It’s like being born again. Would recommend for anyone needing a quick fix. Be compliant and see what all it can do for you."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "Buspar is one of the most dangerous drugs to ever be prescribed. This drug caused my body to lock up. It made me grind my teeth. It's like I was outside of my body doing weird things. I am still recovering from the residual effects, which include involuntary moments, repetitive moves, extrapyramidal moments, and fluid to the brain. Beware."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "After trying to treat my anxiety and panic attacks for years with SSRIs and benzodiazepines, this finally works. I take 3 x 5 mg and started to experience a significant decrease in anxiety and compulsive thoughts, after only 4 days. So far I am happy with BuSpar. No side effects whatsoever."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "After having tried Ativan and Vistaril, I asked my family doctor for BuSpar for acute anxiety. I also take Zoloft. I love BuSpar. It's not habit-forming, and I feel like I have my life back! It's my miracle."

For Anxiety "I was very scared to try buspirone for anxiety because of the bad reviews, BUT trust me when I say this medication has helped me a lot. I went from having panic attacks and anxiety every day to living a normal life. I went from 5 mg twice a day to 15 mg twice a day. I went from quitting my job and having debilitating anxiety to getting back to a normal life. I wasn’t able to go to stores or even drive, and I’m now able to."

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety "This replaced benzodiazepines and sleeping pills, gives better rest, improved sex drive, decidedly improved social life. I'm 46m, prescribed 15mg x2 daily. Others noted the improvements first. I had no untoward side effects other than dry mouth and a few lingering panic attacks per month easily handled by low dose Xanax 0.5 mg. Various SSRIs along the way didn't help with depression this much. 5 years running. It works well."

For Sexual Dysfunction, SSRI Induced "Wow. This drug really restored my ability to have an orgasm. I have been complaining about Lexapro destroying my sex drive to my doctor since I started Lexapro. It was getting to the point where I had to choose between a sex life and my sanity. Unfortunately, my doctor didn't do anything about it. I was the one who had to ask if I could take Buspirone, after internet research. Lexapro reduced my social and generalized anxiety by, I would say, 80%. Buspirone restored my ability to have an orgasm, and also seems to be reducing my anxiety even further. I know everyone reacts differently to these medications, but if you are having these issues, I would give this a try."
