For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Naltrexone HCl 50 mg 1/2 tab daily & Bupropion HCl ER (SR) 12hr 150 mg 1 tab daily for 14 days then 2 tabs daily thereafter. I'm 5'6'', 270 lbs with high blood pressure. Started 7 days ago. Right away 1st day, the food, sugar, breads, and starch cravings STOPPED. I feel so HAPPY to where I had to ask myself... Wait, was I still sad/depressed prior to taking these prescriptions? I didn't think I was so unhappy anymore, however, according to the way I feel now with so much energy, wanting to socialize, engage in activities, date, and create more than I ever had in the past, I question how much I locked up, put off in truly dealing with all the deaths in my family? Bupropion for Depression "I'm on day 3 of Wellbutrin. So far, it's been miserable. I'm on the lowest dose and still having horrible stomach side effects. I can't eat, I have no appetite, severe diarrhea with intense stomach pain. I'm also exhausted but can't seem to sleep more than a few hours at a time. My mouth is dry and my eyeballs feel like sandpaper. And to top it all off, just looking at my husband arouses me. I'd actually enjoy that side effect if I could stay off the toilet. I'm gonna try to stick it out in hopes that this will pass. I know I need to give it some time."

Bupropion for Depression "Best medication I’ve ever taken. I didn’t realize how depressed I was before taking it. Now I have energy to get through the day. It also helped with my obsessive thoughts. I’ve never felt so much relief in my life. The only side effect is a slightly dry mouth but I’d take that any day over the hell I was living in."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm 62 years old, white male, pre-diabetic. I requested my primary care doctor to put me on bupropion for weight loss. I've been on it a few months now and gone from 243 to 211 pounds with no side effects except dry mouth. I hope I can avoid diabetes as it runs in my family. I'm worried about my hair thinning and if bupropion is causing that. I'm 62 and have had fine hair my entire life. Anyway, COVID-19 will probably get me, that is not the way I expected to go out. Bupropion for Depression "My experience with SSRIs has been terrible. I've been on Cipralex and Sertraline, and they haven't worked at all. My doctor was really excited for me to try this one, and I finally caved. The first few days were normal, and the side effects were minimal (dry mouth, constipation, low appetite, a bit of drowsiness), but all that was manageable and went away pretty quickly. By the 9th day, I woke up, and I just knew something was different. It's like my eyes were open, and I had my life back. Having had depression for about a year, I always felt this grey cloud and weight constantly taking over my body and life. By the 7th week, mood and motivation were wonderfully back. I have my life back. Please try this if you can."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I began taking Bupropion last week and began to notice its effect pretty quickly. The dry mouth side effect has been persistent but it weakens after a few days. Its ability to suppress my appetite is quite powerful. For a long time, I've relied on food as a coping mechanism for a variety of reasons, but this medication has quickly done away with my constant feeling of needing to eat or be full. It's to the point where I almost forget to eat. This has begun to reflect on the scale. I'm down a few pounds in a few days and I expect I'll continue to lose weight. One example of my experience is that I ate quite a heavy lunch the day of my writing this review and I have had no interest in food since then. This is not typical. I would have found myself hungry at some point in the evening. So it seems to also collaborate with food already in the body to keep binge eating from happening. Overall, I am quite pleased with this medication."

Bupropion for ADHD "I've been on Wellbutrin for over a year now, and I will probably be on it for the rest of my life. I have a dry mouth occasionally, food doesn't taste as good as it used to, and it makes me sweat a little more than normal, but without this medication, I would be in a fetal position, in bed, and crying most of the time. I would never even consider going off of it. I've tried for just a couple of days, and the old symptoms of sadness start to set in. I took Zoloft for a while, and it made me gain weight, and I just wanted to sleep all the time. I was a zombie. If it weren't for Wellbutrin, I would probably be a recluse. Nothing interested me, and I didn't want any social interaction. Now, I can't wait to get out and be around people. GOOD!"

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "Wellbutrin has changed my life! I was such a terrible, irrational, and very depressed person before this medication. My partner and I were always arguing, mostly due to my own fault. I had such a hard time getting out of bed and taking on the day. I would absolutely need a mid-afternoon four-hour nap to get me through. Wellbutrin has given me so much mental clarity. It has saved my relationship and allowed me to go through my days feeling 'normal'. The only downfall is it gives me a very dry mouth, which is not good for my overall oral health, but I have found some toothpaste and mouthwash that help a little. It's worth it for the clear mind."

For ADHD "I was given 150mg of Wellbutrin XL to help with ADHD symptoms primarily and also anxiety. The only side effects I noticed were headaches (but they responded well to Tylenol and really weren't very bad anyway), and a mild pounding in my ears on the first day when I would lean over. Maybe a little bit of a fuzzy feeling and pressure in my head. I attribute all of those symptoms to the fact that this drug can raise your blood pressure. Only slight dry mouth/lips. No constipation, ringing in ears, no nervousness. I could tell it was doing something within 2 hours of taking it. I was alert in a way that I haven't experienced since childhood. Getting things done was much much simpler. My appetite wasn't really affected. I experienced hunger at mostly the appropriate times but found fighting off the urges to binge on snacks was very easy. Falling asleep took maybe 15-20 minutes longer than usual. Overall I'm very happy."

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking Wellbutrin 300 XL for about 3 years. It helps my depression a lot. I am able to function daily and not overreact. Started at 150 mg and went to 300 mg. Before Wellbutrin, I was very depressed, and working, parenting, and everything was causing me grief, sadness, and fear. I was overweight and I overreacted to small things. I felt hopeless and on edge every day. I have a low-functioning thyroid as well that may have been making my depression worse. So now I am on track. It took me about 2 weeks to feel a difference. Now I do have several of the side effects. I lost about 30 lbs. I have a low appetite, I have ringing in my right ear. I also have dry mouth, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and blurred vision. I can handle the side effects but not the depression. So I have stayed on the medicine. Also, I suddenly stopped taking the meds one time and it caused suicidal thoughts and flu-like symptoms."

Bupropion for Depression "When first taking Wellbutrin, my mouth became really dry, I got a few weird headaches, and I felt some physical numbness when I touched my skin. However, after a month the symptoms were almost non-existent and my depression and anxiety improved drastically. Also, my doctor prescribed it to me to help with ADD/ADHD. I noticed that my focus was also better. This may be simply because anxiety can cause you to lack attention and it fixed the anxiety, but either way it worked great for me."

Bupropion for Depression "I’m on day 5 of Wellbutrin. I’ve had severe anxiety and depression for the past 10 years, and I’m 26 now. I’ve been hospitalized twice for suicidal feelings. Tried all different kinds of medications for the past 8 years. I had no hope anymore. I switched doctors this week after getting fed up with my old psychiatrist, who I felt didn’t understand me and couldn’t give me the care I needed. My new doctor understands me, and she started me on Wellbutrin this week. The first day of taking Wellbutrin, I felt relief. The fog of hopelessness was lifted, and although my situation is still bad, I now feel like I have the ability to overcome it. Now on day 5, I’m feeling much better, like I can actually focus more on the present moment rather than being stuck in my head. Side effects have included dry mouth, some stomach issues, anxiety, and insomnia. My doctor gave me trazodone to sleep better, which has helped. Please do not lose hope or be scared to try medications. They can help."

Bupropion for Depression "This medicine really works for me and has really improved my quality of life and perspective on things. I'm 18, and I have been on this for a little over 6 months, and I would say the only bad side effect is dry mouth, but if you just drink a lot of water, you'll be fine. I like it because it has helped me stop 'binge' eating. I don't have cravings for food or cigarettes anymore, and I completely stopped smoking. I'm never tired anymore, Wellbutrin definitely gives you energy in a good way. Sex drive is completely normal, and I still have normal emotions, unlike when I was on Celexa or Prozac where I felt so emotionless. I lost 20 lbs, but I am healthy and fit and a lot happier with myself."

Before this, I was on Zoloft for almost 5 years. 6 years of my life, I had constant thoughts of ending it. Ever since I’ve been on this medication, I finally want to live. So far, I’m having the basic side effects of most antidepressants: loss of appetite (although it is coming back), dry mouth, constipation/stomach pains, and being a bit more sensitive than usual. For Smoking Cessation "I have been a heavy smoker for 46 years. I honestly never thought about quitting because I never believed I could. I have been taking a dose of 150 mg bupropion for 14 days. On day 7, I tried taking 2 and it was so scary. Dry mouth was so bad that my lips were cracking, I couldn't swallow, my eyes and nose were so dry, I experienced insomnia, and total panic. I immediately went back to 1 pill a day as I saw many people stating they could not take 2. After 46 years, I don't care if it takes 3 or 6 months to quit smoking. With my severe anxiety disorder, I have to only take one. I have started keeping track of how many I smoke and have gone from 2+ packs a day to 12-17 a day. I am praying this works because I know quitting is best for my health. Thank you all for your reviews. It has certainly helped me to feel more positive even if it takes longer than usual :)"

Bupropion for Depression "Having fallen into a serious depression which led me to have great difficulty in doing everyday things, getting up in the morning, brushing my teeth, washing, and also couldn't get important sleep. It was getting really difficult. My neurologist prescribed Wellbutrin XR 150mg once a day in the morning. I was very hesitant to take the drug for fear of the side effects. Today, after 3 months of treatment, I sincerely thank her. I have found energy, reconnected with my social relationships, etc. In terms of side effects for me, it's mild: dry mouth, a few palpitations often at night, and slight weight loss. For Anxiety "On 20 mg Cipralex two years ago and gained almost 30 pounds. Began taking Wellbutrin 150 mg three weeks ago after weaning myself off the Cipralex over a 2-month period. A few side effects, dry mouth being the most noticeable. 150 mg for two weeks and started 300 mg this last Monday. Huge energy boost, appetite is level, and cravings are non-existent. I have to remind myself to eat. I have lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks without changing anything in my daily routine. I believe the ingredient in the medicine which helps a person to quit smoking has the same effect on appetite. It just stops the cravings, therefore stopping needless emotional eating or eating out of boredom. Anxiety was my major mood disorder but it has not affected me negatively!"

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "Stopped taking Suboxone for opiate addiction and Wellbutrin saved my life. Only thing I use that I should’ve looked into years ago for my depression, anxiety, and slight ADHD! Highly recommend it to opiate users coming off blockers or meds. Side effects: insomnia for the first week, and dry mouth. Otherwise, I’m a big placebo guy but I noticed an instant change in mood (for the better)!"

Bupropion for Depression "This drug has saved my life! I have struggled with methamphetamine addiction for about 4 years now. The hardest part about quitting was the extreme depression and suicidal thoughts. They always caused me to relapse. My physician prescribed Wellbutrin and it has worked like a miracle. I have been clean for over half a year and feel like I have my old life back! My relationships are healing and my family feels like they have their son/brother back. I am back in college and passing my classes! I don't attribute all that to the drug. Counseling and AA were extremely helpful but I know it was Wellbutrin that got me through the horrible depression to the other side. Only upfront side effects I had were jitteriness and dry mouth."

Bupropion for Smoking Cessation "I've been smoke-free for one and a half months and I largely credit Zyban for this. I am 40 years old, 15 a day smoker for 25 years. I have tried to stop smoking a few times over the past decade, but I end up very agitated and depressed, so resorted to cigarettes again. Previously, I have tried patches, lozenges as well as Champix, which worked for the duration I was on it, but gave me terrible nausea. This time has been quite easy, I credit Zyban for this. The first few days of taking Zyban were pretty tough mentally the first week; I felt spaced out, trippy, and also suffered a bit of insomnia, slightly blurred vision when reading, and teeth grinding. However, these all dissipated, the only effect I have now is minor dry mouth."

Bupropion for Depression "I have ADHD and depression, that's why Wellbutrin was prescribed. I think my depression was caused by taking Ritalin, the first-line ADHD medication. I started off with 150mg XL. The first two weeks were hard, I had a lot of side effects: severe headache, very dry mouth, sleeplessness. I stuck through it and noticed I became a lot more positive. If I had a setback, it'd still affect me, but not as long as before. I noticed that I had more perseverance, more energy too. I had severe brain fog, and it started to go away. But exams were coming, and 150mg didn't do the trick to be able to study well, so we upped my dose to 300mg. I had to adapt again. Many of the side effects came back, but sticking through it was the right thing to do. My concentration became much better, and I became more disciplined and ambitious in my goals. I started to clean my room up, planning and preparing things. I noticed it felt like it came from myself, not from an external stimulus as with Ritalin."

Bupropion for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking Budeprion XL 150 mg once a day for the past 3 months for depression, and I have to say it is the 'happy pill.' My depression has gotten better, I have more energy, sleep better at night, and my anxiety has decreased. Additionally, I have noticed that my appetite is suppressed, and I have lost 20 lbs in 3 months. I have also cut back on smoking cigarettes. I honestly have never felt better. Before taking Bupropion, I had taken Sertraline, which only made me feel more depressed and caused me to gain weight, which made me feel worse about myself. Bupropion has been a win-win for me because, after having a hysterectomy, I lost my sex drive, and Bupropion has given it back. The only side effect I have experienced from the medication is dry mouth, but I can deal with it. It actually makes me drink more water, which is something I never used to do in the past."

Bupropion for Depression "I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 450mg/day for 9 years, the brand only (I have done some personal research about brands versus generics and do not believe that generics are as good, effective, or reliable as brands). This medication saved my life, so I guess that I was lucky that it suited me. Within the first year, I remember having a dry mouth, more energy, loss of appetite, and weight loss. With time, these side effects stopped. I have no side effects now, and what this medication clearly helped me with is to still feel myself and go through my emotions without falling into the hole of depression. So I feel functional, which was not the case before taking it (for example, staying in bed because of feeling a deep sadness etc...)."

For Anxiety "I’m literally lying in bed after 5 days of reacting to this medication. I started this for smoking and anxiety. I did a slow wean off Lexapro and started on Wellbutrin 150 mg once a day and then increased to two times a day. Symptoms include: dry mouth, dizziness, vision problems, flu-like symptoms (weak, tired, nausea), ringing in the ears, sensitivity to light, smells, and extreme headache. The dizziness is the worst, hence why I have been in bed for 5 days. The doctor advised me to get off it, so I’m about one day without it. I still feel the same. I'm waiting for this to get out of my system. I have had to cancel work and have been completely useless to my family. Hope this can help someone else who may be experiencing these issues."
