"I'm a 54-year-old man that started having dermatitis upon return from a deployment to Iraq. After trying a variety of medications, I was told that I have rosacea. I tried Mirvaso on one side, and it seemed to clear my face. After trying it for several days, I noticed my face turning extremely red and itching. I cannot use this and am heading back to the dermatologist."

"Have tried about everything for rosacea. Metrogel, Mirvaso, lasers, chamomile, and finally went to get a holistic spa treatment where I got a facial. She said your rosacea is bad, going to use a mix of rose extract oil and Moroccan oil. My redness was gone the entire day. Bought these oils online and not greasy. Not only is my rosacea under control, but I have a nice healthy glow and was actually carded. The girl said I look under 40, they card under 40. I am 50 years old. My skin looks and feels younger and is so hydrated."

"I had a bad experience with this cream. For the first few days of use, it looked very promising, my redness was almost gone completely. Although as the days went on, I started to put this cream on straight away in the morning, and then later in the day when I would get stressed or embarrassed, my redness would look absolutely terrible. It would be completely pale in some places, and then in others it would be BRIGHT RED. It happened on the outside of my face, right by my nose, right under my eyes. It was so bad that I couldn’t go to school. I felt physically and mentally uncomfortable. I do not recommend it at all."

"Day 4 and I am experiencing the rebound redness for the first time. My entire face looks like it has sunburn. I am afraid based on what I have read that if I continue to use it, the rebound redness will get worse. I'm happy that something was made to help people with rosacea... and am hopeful that they will find a reason for the rebound redness and alter the medication."

"I had red blood vessels on one cheek that were not very pleasing to look at. My Dr. gave me Mirvaso samples to try to help reduce the redness. I used this product one time, a pea-sized amount. I now have five bug-sized bite chemical burns/blister-like marks on my face. I truly hope these marks go away because my face looks worse than it ever has."

"This product is a nightmare. The first day, yes, it did reduce redness. The next day, I noticed red blotchy patches where I had applied the Mirvaso, and they haven't gone away for several days. This is not my normal redness, and I am 100% sure it is a direct result of the Mirvaso because the blotches are exactly where I applied it. This product should not even be on the market - it does the exact opposite of what it's supposed to do."

"I read all the reviews, hopeful I wouldn’t be one of the ones with awful side effects! DO NOT use Mirvaso! The first day it was like a magic cream, and the redness was gone for 10 hours. Second day, about 6 hours, and then my face would be redder than when I applied it. After a week of use, I decided to not even use it, and my face has been bright red and swollen, and I have had a headache all day! My face feels like it is on fire! Nothing I do works to calm it, and it is only getting worse, not better. I will NEVER use Mirvaso again! Don’t use this awful cream!"

"Do not use this cream! It makes things worse. My face became perfect after I applied the cream. But after a few hours, I started feeling a terrible burning sensation on my face. And after a few more hours, I all became red."

"The dermatologist says I have rosacea. My symptom is severe flushing. Desperate for relief, I attempted this gel. It immediately turned me white as a ghost, I looked very sick. On the second day using this gel, after 6 hours, my face turned more red than before. It eventually subsided, so on the 3rd day, I thought I’d try to use less… well, once again, 6 hours later, my face basically caught on fire. Now my butterfly rash is worse than ever. It’s not the same flush as before, either. It’s horrible. It’s been 24 hours off the gel, and it hasn’t improved. Now they want me to try something different. I have no plans on putting ANYTHING else on my face for a long time. Mirvaso caused exactly what it’s supposed to treat. After reading these reviews, this happened to what seems like everyone. It needs to come off the market. The price says it all… Do yourself a favor and don’t use this gel."

"Not good. The first few days were fine, though not overly impressive. After that, more redness and itching. It also doesn't appear to be compatible with any of the moisturizers I have tried. I've stopped using it, and my face is less red and much better. $20 in the garbage. I would not recommend this to anyone. And judging by all the others with issues, I'm surprised it's still on the market."

"Like many of these other readers, I've had the same experience. I was given samples to try by a dermatologist, and I applied it on a Saturday afternoon. Sunday afternoon, I looked in the mirror and was in shock. My face was super blotchy and had very intense red spottiness. Definitely worse looking than it had ever been initially. It almost leaves skin with a withdrawal-type symptom. I cannot afford laser treatment, and I do not know where else to turn as I wake up every morning like this and am having to rely on this lotion to clear my face to be presentable at my job."

"I would not recommend this product to anyone. I was given a small sample from my derm, and like many people here, it worked for the first ten hours. After the ten hours, my face would flush and burn worse than ever before. I've taken it for three days now and am quitting immediately. I would have quit sooner, but I wasn't sure if the Mirvaso was causing the redness. I just can't believe derms are handing this stuff out so readily."

"I have had mild rosacea for over 20 years with occasional mild breakouts. Normally, it is well managed and not visible unless I have had a bad few days. I have it over my nose and upper cheeks (T Zone) with blemishes when it's bad. Normally, I use Rozex. I was given Mirvaso as an alternative, and after 5 days, I had to take time off work because it inflamed so badly it turned my nose and upper cheeks a dark red/purple. Never use this cream, it feeds back on itself. I am still waiting for the redness to drop after 48 hours of not using it. Stay away."

"The first time I was prescribed Mirvaso, I was not made aware of the rebound redness as a side effect (holy moly). I found this medication works best mixed with moisturizer. I mix a half pump with Prosacea moisturizer, and it keeps the redness in check without completely bleaching all color from my face and causing rebound redness. I feel like I don’t need to do this on a daily basis either, every other day seems to prevent redness really well."

"I can only agree with many of the comments that have been made here, and I also wish I had read the comments before starting this drug. My rosacea was more or less under control, but due to an illness and stress in my family, I had a flare-up, so my doctor recommended I try Mirvaso gel. After 2 weeks, I now have redness all over my face, the worst it has ever been, so much so that it is embarrassing to go out. My face is hot and sometimes itchy, and I have now thrown this expensive gel away."

"I've been using this medication for my rosacea, and it isn't helping. My face has never looked worse. It's okay when I first put it on, but by the end of the day, my face is spiraling out of control. Right now, I have huge acne blemishes all over my face. I'm making an appointment with my doctor this week to try and change it. Very disappointed."

"Exactly the same experience as everyone else. First application made me pale as a ghost. Since then, my redness has gone from moderate and manageable to extreme and soul-destroying. Have also had 3 sessions of IPL, so couldn’t work out which was causing the problem. I persevered for about a month, and it did take the bright redness out of my nose for four hours or so, per application, but once it wore off, it was redder than ever. It’s in the bin now, and I’m forking out £1500 to have laser treatment to try and fix me. Devastated."

"I have suffered from episodic flushing for most of my life, and nothing has worked, so I decided to try Mirvaso. I tried it for 4 days. Initially, it seemed to decrease the redness. After the first two days, I started to have attacks of bright red, patchy flushes at random times throughout the day, but I thought it was just an initial reaction and would take more time. On the fourth day, I forgot to apply it in the morning, and by noon both of my cheeks were a horrible deep red, my face and ears were burning as though I had my face near a fire. It is 10 times worse than what I started with. I am very disappointed in this product and hope that my face goes back to what it was before using it. Also, I do not recommend trying this, BUT if you go on the Galderma website, you can sign up for their savings card and get the medication price down to $35 or $75 depending on if you have insurance or not."

"I was told I had very mild rosacea by my dermatologist at the beginning of 2017. I started using this product, and for the first 6 months, it was amazing! I thought I had found a miracle cream. Starting in the fall, however, everything went downhill. My face started getting dark red/purple at around noon (about 5 hours after I applied Mirvaso). About a month later, the burning started. My face would get so hot, it felt like it was on fire. I saw a different dermatologist, and they told me I probably just had dry skin. This was not the case. It is now February 2018, and I just figured out about 3 days ago that Mirvaso is what has been causing this. It worked for me for so long, so I don't know what caused the side effects to start happening. This is my third day without using it, and I still haven't noticed any difference. My face is still red and burning. I hope this product hasn't caused any permanent damage to my skin. Please do not buy it."

"Do not use this product! I had/have all the same negative symptoms listed below by others. In addition, I had massive migraine headaches, sore throat, runny nose, stomach issues, itching in areas I did not use the product, acne, dry eyes, and a sty. I reported these issues to the FDA and highly suggest you do the same. They will re-evaluate the product if they have enough reports."

"Mirvaso works... at first. I had extremely mild redness in my T-zone, and I thought I'd try something to get rid of it. Although it made my skin look like Snow White during the day, as soon as it wore off (anywhere from 5-8 hours), I got horrendous rebound redness. There were days that it looked like I had a chemical burn on my face. The only discomfort I experienced was the intense heat from my skin during times of flare-ups... which was practically daily. Note: I showed my dermatologist pictures of the terrible redness after about 6 months to a year, and she told me, 'You just have sensitive capillary beds.' Please do not listen to your dermo if you know your own skin! My skin was not bad before this treatment, and after I discontinued it, my skin almost has returned to normal. I no longer get crazy flare-ups when I have a glass of wine, take a hot bath, or lay outside (with a sunhat, mind you). This medication is not worth the 400 dollars for 50% of the time whiteness..."

"The doctor told me to use this cream daily. After six days of using it and seeing my red/purple cheeks and nose looking a little better, I started getting what everyone on here is calling rebound redness. My cheeks and chin went bright red... like I had held an iron on them. The burning sensation went across my face, and my lips and tongue tingled. I went back to the doctor, and she told me to apply more cream when the burning came out. The doctor said the burning was my skin doing what it should do, and this was normal. This is not normal. This was happening at 2 pm and 8 pm and lasted around 3 hours. No rhyme or reason why it happened at these random times. I had 7 days of this after I had binned the cream, and thanks to a review on here, I tried applying Sudocrem on the burning areas, and this did calm it down. Bear in mind I used it for 6 days, and it took 7 days to calm down... my lips and tongue tingled for 14 days or so. Don't panic, and for God's sake, don't take the doctor's word as gospel."

"I was put on this, and it worked, but afterwards, omg, I was red, my face was burnt, and it looked like I got an allergic reaction because my eye was swollen. My face still looks awful 3 days later. I will never use it again..."

"Yeah, it works. For me, it lasted about 10-12 hours. But the rebound isn't worth it. My face has never flushed as red or as often as it did after using this just once, and I've broken out in itchy red bumps in all the places I've flushed. I'm flushing in places I have never flushed or barely ever flush. Rebound is definitely real, and I don't know how the trials for this medication didn't find it to be a problem. Maybe I'll use this for special occasions where I really want to look good for like a day. But I'd have to be a hermit for a week afterward because once it wears off, I look hideous. I don't recommend this drug."

"Lifesaver! Here's the secret to applying Mirvaso. Firstly, Mirvaso is NOT meant to be worn every day. Only occasional use. I only put it on before situations I normally flush or blush. Instructions: Wash face. Put a TINY pea-sized amount on your fingertip with pea-sized moisturizer on the same fingertip. Rub them both into one cheek. Do the same for the other cheek. Apply regular meds (mine is Metrogel). Then apply overall moisturizer. Then any makeup. As soon as you get home, wash/moisturize face. The sooner you wash it off, the better. I have done this many times with no rebound effect. Seriously, it is my favorite drug for my rosacea. It's the only one that stops flushing/blushing in its tracks. Just last weekend, we were visiting friends, and I felt a blush episode coming. I excused myself to the bathroom to apply Mirvaso. Fifteen minutes later, I re-entered with zero redness. My anxiety went away, and I was relaxed and felt in control and able to enjoy my friends. Thank you, Mirvaso!!"
