For High Blood Pressure "Taken bisoprolol for about 10 years for HBP. I was on 5mg to start, but having side effects reduced to 2.5. Still having side effects: quite a few very bad - sinus, mucus, fuzzy head, joint pain, very tired. Also feeling like I'm going to pass out, generally not feeling well on this medication anymore. Looking for answers - does medication start rejecting the body when being on them for a long time? Has anyone else felt the same? Appreciate inputs. Thank you."

For High Blood Pressure "I'm on Bisoprolol 2.5mg for the last 3 weeks. It makes my heart rate between 40-50 bpm, and I have felt numerous side effects. Initially, the BP levels were normal, but now it gets 150/100 during the night. My GP has added Telmisartan 40mg with it. Hopefully, it will work. Overall, I'm really tired of Bisoprolol. Bad experience."

For High Blood Pressure "Taking bisoprolol 2.5 mg since June 2018 after angioplasty (along with clopidogrel, aspirin, metformin, and lercanidipine). I do a workout for more than 1 hour daily, morning and evening together. I stopped sugar altogether. I feel terribly tired, have issues with peaceful sleep, nocturia, and now serious erectile dysfunction since recently. My blood pressure fluctuates from 160/90 to 140/70. I feel another BP drug may need to be tried, I have to discuss this seriously with my cardiologist during my next visit. Because of the side effects which affect the quality of life, I am not a fan of bisoprolol."

For Premature Ventricular Depolarizations "I have taken 5 mg of bisoprolol for ectopic beats and sinus tachycardia for a year now. The medication has entirely stopped the palpitations and I feel much better. The only side effect was tiredness at first, but it has now gone. Would recommend this beta blocker over any other, it is very effective."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "I am fed up with this drug. I was prescribed it at 2.5 mg in April 2023 after an episode of SVT that resulted in hospitalization. I have suffered so many side effects - tired, dizzy, headaches, and body aches, particularly nasty left leg pains and stiffness. As a consequence, my dose has been reduced to 1.75 mg. But I am still suffering side effects - tiredness and now very itchy skin. I have had a few incidents of arrhythmia and high heartbeats since taking it at the lower dose too."

For High Blood Pressure "Have been taking Bisoprolol 2.5 mg for about a year. Blood pressure reduced - good. Tiredness and fatigue - not so good. Erectile dysfunction - awful. Maybe I should stop taking Bisoprolol and live life to the full, although, unfortunately, maybe not a good idea. So, to this end, it is effective for the treatment needed."

For High Blood Pressure "Started on 10 mg of bisoprolol and felt great at first, then after a few weeks, I started feeling really tired and nauseous. My doctor has since halved it to 5 mg. Not so tired, but don’t feel a lot better and was wondering if 2.5 might work?"

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "After being hospitalized and diagnosed with SVT, I've been on Bisoprolol for 30 days. During those 30 days, I feel tired, feeling like I want to take a deep breath and release it, and at night when I am about to go to sleep - once I lay my body on the bed - I feel something strange in my chest. It's not SVT (racing heartbeat). I cannot describe it, but I know the feeling has never happened before I started taking Bisoprolol."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "Was put on this drug for high blood pressure. Two weeks later, had AF, had to have heart shocked. Another few weeks, had SVT. Now itching and, as the previous poster said, bad eye twitching and facial tics, as well as extreme tiredness. I'm stopping it."

For Heart Failure "At first, I was thrilled with the pills: they calmed the pulse, reduced fatigue, and I felt great. However, after two years of use, I realized that I was gaining weight, that I did not have the will to train, that I was actually getting tired very quickly without my heart rate exceeding 60 beats. I gradually stopped taking the pills and only then realized how sleepy and slow I was. I do not recommend this medicine to anyone, there may be better ones."

"After many times and lots of investigation at A and E, I was put on bisoprolol. I’ve been on it for 3 years, I take 2.5 ml. It’s stopped my ectopic beats, but I still get them occasionally. I suffer terribly from a buzzing head, feeling dizzy, tiredness, and a low pulse. I don’t like how I feel on this med, but I have not been offered any alternative."

"Taking this for a number of years, and it made me feel lethargic and did not fully stop my arrhythmia. Started taking Ginseng a year ago and now feel great! Lethargy is gone and so is arrhythmia, almost totally. Told my Dr. about it, and he said nothing but did make a note about it. My theory is that bisoprolol slows the heart and reduces blood pressure. Ginseng raises your metabolism and sort of restores balance. In any event, it sure works for me."

"Initially, I was amazed at how it helped me with other issues: anxiety and adrenal rushes. And no more atrial fibrillation issues. Taking 2.5 mg at bedtime and have been on it for 2 years. I noticed that I am very tired, depressed, and have difficulty with concentration. I attributed these symptoms to other factors. I felt weak and faint a lot. Then the headaches started daily, moderate at first, my eyes ached and my neck hurt. It has been 2 months now, and I have a headache every day. I also experienced tingling in my arms and hands, which I also attributed to overwork. I went to my GP about the headaches, and he seemed concerned about my abnormally low blood pressure. He is contacting the specialist that prescribed these meds, but I have had no response from them. After reading up on the side effects of these meds, I am choosing to gradually taper off. When the cure is worse than the initial problem, no thank you."

For Mitral Valve Prolapse "My history is bicuspid aortic valve replaced and grafted aortic root. Was on sotalol for 20 years (it was mostly an antiarrhythmic with some beta-blocking qualities)... but then they stopped making it. Cardiac doc switched me to bisoprolol 5mg daily. One year later: arrhythmia with a vengeance since going on this. Have also been taking magnesium citrate 150mg daily as per doc. Not liking the constant funny heartbeats and how tired I am in the afternoon. Going to see him soon to see if metoprolol might be a better alternative to this."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been taking bisoprolol for three weeks now. It has helped me immensely to bring down my blood pressure. No other medication did this for me. But now I am getting headaches and extremely tired. I am praying this gets better as it has big-time disruptions to my daily routine. I also take Candesartan and amlodipine. All low doses. I have been on the other two for many years. Bisoprolol keeps me out of the hospital with counts of 180/98 up to 200. Talk about anxiety. I don’t want to stop but am really hoping these headaches and tiredness go away. I am 74. I rated an 8 because of my new blood pressure. Not so good for the two side effects."

For High Blood Pressure "Heart rate drops to 55 to 60 per minute and does not go up beyond 70-75, even with exercise. Recovery to low heart rate very fast after exercise. Feel quite tired often. Dosage 2.5 mg bd and Losartan 50 mg bd. Is this dosage too much?"

For Heart Failure "I had angioplasty a couple of years back. Initially, I was prescribed 5 mg, but now it has been reduced to 2.5 mg. It made my heartbeat in the region of 55 to 60. It makes you feel tired always. I want to give it up for a few days to check if tiredness reduces."
