For Migraine Prevention "Was taking as prescribed 30 mg/day. After 1.5 years on this drug, I developed a burning sensation all over my body and insomnia. Dr. said there would be no withdrawals with cessation. Wrong. Please take with caution. Be careful with meds that act on the GABA receptors in the head. They are some of the hardest drugs to discontinue."

For Muscle Spasm "Was taking baclofen 20 mg 3 times a day for cervical degenerative disc disease. I didn't think it really helped until I ran out, now I noticed that my neck hurts more and is stiffer. I moved out of state, and now I don't qualify for insurance. I also had a hard time sleeping while taking it, but I also have insomnia, so I can't say for sure if the baclofen was causing it or not. I just noticed a difference when I ran out."

For Spasticity "I found Baclofen to be very helpful for my spasms and general muscle tightness. Unfortunately, my condition is chronic, and long-term use of Baclofen rendered it ineffective as I built a tolerance to it. And sadly, I have not found another muscle relaxer that works well for me. Some I tried gave me horrible side effects... nausea, insomnia, loss of appetite, etc. So after a short break, I'm back to taking a smaller dose of Baclofen. It's not as effective as it initially was, but I have no side effects!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had tried to quit drinking with no success. I'm sure I had tried this 30-40 times since my early 20's. I'm now 35. I have wrecked my life. The last time I tried to stop was 3 months ago. I was having the usual problems of not being able to sleep. Several times while trying to quit drinking, I would go four to five days without sleep. I would have auditory hallucinations. I would hear music playing sadly in the background, but there would be no actual music playing. This happened on several occasions while trying to quit. Sleep deprivation was really a scary thing for me, so I had a friend that had muscle relaxers, and she gave me roughly 30 or so of them. I had never heard of Baclofen before ever. This was a random discovery for me."

For Muscle Spasm "I have been using baclofen for about 2 years. I had a back and neck fusion, so I use it for the muscles in those areas. It reacts not like a sedative, but as a stimulant. Hyper energy, unable to sleep if I take it late in the day."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Ordering and following the lifebac instructions formula, nearly the end of me! The absolute worst experience of my life! I had severe reactions that included mass insomnia, loss of appetite, lashing out at business partners, and ultimately lost all my connections and dreams at the time. I got drugged with this horrifyingly nasty medication! F-"

For Neuralgia "I take baclofen for extreme pain in my shoulder and arm due to compressed neck vertebrae. I had tried Flexeril and Robaxin and received no relief. When I first began taking this, I couldn't sleep, had a headache, and as I read a review by another person - fell asleep mid-sentence. My boss said I was hard to get to understand things but very agreeable. All are getting better. I have very vivid dreams now and wake about every 3 or 4 hours to go to the bathroom - that I was doing prior to the drug. What I call 'pee pee pads' is very important, but I used them prior to taking baclofen. Overall, this medicine seems to help most of the time. I take it just before leaving for work just in case I might have trouble driving. It works well."

For Hiccups "Chronic hiccups. Idiopathic. Failed gabapentin, Lyrica, chlorpromazine. Responded initially to 20 mg twice a day. However, to maintain effect, have needed to increase to four times a day a dosing. It definitely works, but doses higher than 100 mg create insomnia. Wish there was a longer-acting version, but it is a very inexpensive medication."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Do not use baclofen! The potential for terrible side effects isn't worth it. Google the side effects for withdrawal, another user did a great job of explaining the insomnia and mental issues associated with this drug. I also hallucinated for days."

For Muscle Spasm "I felt a burning sensation in my stomach. My ortho took it upon himself to change from diazepam to baclofen. I've been not sleeping, and I'm irritable. I've filed a complaint through my insurance, as well as the ortho office. It's Sunday, but I have a 9:15 appointment with the ortho."

For Migraine Prevention "I want to advise people that yes, this drug works to help reduce migraines and muscle spasms. However, I feel obligated to advise you that if you use this drug, even in small doses on a daily basis, you may/will have some severe withdrawal symptoms (i.e., depression, insomnia, nausea, more spasticity, mood swings, hallucinations, and more). The sad part is doctors love prescribing drugs to medicate but so often do not give you the whole picture. I was not advised of the withdrawal symptoms even after weaning myself off of this drug. Please do your research before taking ANY drug."
