Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I've been taking Fiorinal since 1966. I get cluster-type headaches behind my eye and in the back of my head. This med WORKS for me, nothing else. All the expensive meds made me nauseous and left a residual dull pain. This takes about 20 minutes in quiet space, and I'm truly functional again. With a really bad one, I take a second dose, or sometimes two up front - I can tell what's coming. The one thing not to do is WAIT...you may end up with three days of misery instead of feeling fine. I have no side effects, I just get up and I'm back at whatever I was doing. They've tried to give me antidepressants (I have an adverse reaction, bad depression) and other meds. This works. I don't understand why there's so much resistance to prescribing it."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "Living with a brain tumor and suffering for years with blinding migraines. It is the single only thing that rids my migraines! I only rely on it when the pain is so intense I am bedridden. I use about 80 pills per year. It usually always works if Excedrin does not. No nausea or vomiting like with other expensive migraine so-called wonder medicines! No bad drowsiness either! It is a godsend for my pain! I have found nothing else comparable."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Headache "I have been taking Fiorinal for 50 years for bad headaches. It has been a lifesaver for me, and nips the headaches in the bud before they lead to extreme nausea and taking to my bed. Unfortunately, the generic does not work for me, and it has been increasingly difficult to get Fiorinal as the price has gone up dramatically lately. My insurance covers none of it. What can I do? Help!"

For Migraine "I'm a 72-year-old male who has hereditary migraines (inheriting from my mother and passing it on to my son) from my early teens. I've been to countless neurologists prescribing any and all migraine medications, none worked except this compound with added codeine. I experience an initial aura (loss of partial vision) with the deep pain oncoming within a half hour. This may be combined with nausea. The onset of relief from this medication coincides with the pain onset perfectly. 2-3 hours of a dark room and rest, and the episode is over. I carry this medication everywhere I go, it is indispensable!"

For Migraine "Started taking about 6 or 7 years ago. This has been the one medication I don't have wild side effects with, like panic attacks, seizures, or swelling. This medication helps with about 80% of my migraines. Most of the time relieving at least 50% of the pain, if not most or all. It always helps at least dull the pain enough to go about my day-to-day. It has been the best rescue medication I have tried. I used to suffer from migraines at least 15 to 20 a month, 7 or 8 of those severe. I have not had severe migraines since. (Severe: where I wanted to shove an ice pick in my temple to make it stop, or smack my head into the wall, couldn't hold a conversation, couldn't walk, see, or hear. Constant nausea and vomiting)"

For Migraine "I have chronic tension headaches. I used to take the Fioricet with Tylenol, and honestly I wish I was on it again. I wanted to see how my body reacted to aspirin - IT HATES IT! My migraine worsens, hot and cold flashes, and I get intense nausea that makes me run for a trash can almost less than 5 minutes after being ingested. It does help sometimes, but the side effects weigh out the benefits. The Tylenol caffeine butalbital works wonders for tension migraines. I've tried most medicines and Fioricet is the only kind that helps. Too much causes rebound headaches so don't overdo it! And overdoses ARE POSSIBLE in large AMOUNTS. Butalbital is a barbiturate and is LETHAL. Read the warning labels!!!"

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "Been on a combo of Fioricet, tramadol, Flexeril. Worked great. Was on for more than 25 years, now can't find a doctor to prescribe them. They act like the barbiturate in it is as dangerous as codeine or cocaine. Really? Been on it most of my life. I was on a pretty high dose, 2 Fioricet, 2 tramadol, one Flexeril all 3 times daily. But, not near the migraines I do now. Oh, don't forget the Zofran for nausea. I have a migraine now and it lasts 4 days. Nothing to take but ibuprofen, so hard on my esophagus and stomach."

For Migraine "I have no family history of migraines. They started after my hysterectomy when I was 24. I am 71 now and just had one Friday and Saturday. They start with the auras that I cannot see, then it has to go from one eye to the other, then it starts with the nausea and headache. I have to go into a dark room, no noise, and a cold cloth covering my eyes. If I can get the medicine when it starts, it helps a lot. I usually have my head sore, not headache, for a few days after. No fun."
