Nuvigil (armodafinil) "I started taking 150mg of Nuvigil with my Staterra. My doctor wanted to wait and see if the Nuvigil worked before discounting Stratterra. Well the first 4 days of Nuvigil at 150mg worked well my doctor decided to up it to 250 mg and now it no longer works at all and in fact I feel very nauseous after I take it. I am so very disappointed!"

"I have Depression. The reason for sadness that includes several other conditions. Acute stress disorder, anxiety etc. May not work for you. Need a psychiatrist to get as much medicine as I do. I take Nuvigil brand name 250 mg 3 times a day, with Viibryd 20 mg 3 times a day and Enlyte (red soft capsule) 3 times a day. They have saved my life. Without these my life was miserable. I pray one day I won’t need it. I aged and then was in ICU after an operation. Life changed for me after that. Insurance won’t cover Enylte yet. I get it from the Enlyte company without a prescription cost me $150.00 a month. Need a prescription at pharmacy for it."

"I have been on Lexapro for 20 years. I was tired, still depressed, and having negative thoughts. My Dr. first prescribed Provigil, later changing it to Nuvigil. There was immediate relief. I don’t understand why it has not been approved for depression."

"I have been suffering from debilitating depression. Have tried MANY antidepressants and none work. I was given armondafinil for idiopathic hypersomnia and wow...within a hour of taking it my mood stabilizes and I don't feel severely depressed. It also helps with my daytime sleepiness. I take 100mg at 9am and take 100mg at 1pm. This regimen works to get me through until the afternoon. What I don't like is that it seems to lose it's effectiveness after taking it so long. I have tried to not take it for 4 days and was mentally and physically useless. This medication has been the ONLY thing that has given me relief to my depression."

"This medicine has been a game-changer for my depression and daytime hypersomnia. I am more productive and in a much better mood. I have a demanding job where nights are sometimes required. It's not a problem. Now, I use 250 mg from my physician but also get 200 mg modafinil online under the name of Modalert. Yes, I take more than prescribed, but I'm not worried about it. I've been at this dose for over 2 years and have no depression symptoms."

"I started having depression at my early teenage years, and I was eventually able to put it into remission with Quetiapine. Unfortunately, I had the phenomenon of 'breakthrough depression,' which left me feeling blunt, unmotivated, and unable to feel joy. I also suffered from extreme fatigue during the day, which hindered my schedule. I've suffered from this for years now, BUT!!! At 20 years old, I was running low on options, and my doctor recommended Armodafinil (Nuvigil), and... wow, it's a fantastic medication. I felt motivated, I felt like getting up and moving, and I enjoyed my activities a lot more. However, no great drug is without its downsides. I usually have a crash later on, which is annoying, but it's nowhere near as bad as Ritalin or Dexamphetamine crashes. This is a great drug, and I highly recommend it for people who especially suffer from fatigue caused by depression :)))) thanks, doc"

"While initially, with trying a full dose of 150mg, I got anxious & trouble sleeping, I did notice uplifting psychological effects. Read that some people are hypersensitive to it, so I decided to try with a lot smaller doses (1/6th to 1/4th of dose, depending on the day), and found that it works great for me! I found that I like it to be as less noticeable as possible, just a slight push instead of manic energy, as the latter drains me even more afterwards. After some testing, found what works for me: breaking the pill uneven and getting different dosage daily keeps me more similar to "regular normal"; picking the dose based on how difficult the day will be prevents the mania and over-exhaustion; having a break day every 3-4 days (those days I take a rest day, whole day) and periodical break of couple of days (pick ones with less stress and obligations) all helps with keeping the dose minimal but still effective. Modafinil, however, induced severe headaches and agitation, no-no for me."

"My experience is the same as so many of the respondents here. I just want to thank the person who asked why the medical community won't listen to us, I feel your pain. I also believe a large part of the problem is the FDAs. reluctance to approve anything that has been labeled (not literally of course) a smart drug Oh my goodness this feels like the scientists and astronomers who were vilified for espousing that the earth orbited the sun. Also the fact that funding is everything in the Pharmaceutical world., like Politics is to the FDA.. Why does Europe manage to always get there before us in this pharma thing? I did not mean for this to be such a rant but if there is something that can give me my life back ,and there is, why is it so hard for me to find a reliable doc to prescribe for me, they have already shown in studies that it's not addictive which begs the question why aren't they doing anything about the opiate crisis tor which they are responsible."

"I have a appointment with a psychiatrist within the next month. I have been on citalpram, Prozac, mitazipine, dulexatin, venalafaxine and another anti depressant which I cannot remember the name and have done very little to improve my depression and anxiety. I have done my research as I’m fed up with the same kind of medication that I know will not work so I have come across armodafinil which has a 83% approval rating and I just pray the doctor will prescribe this to me. For the record SSRIS' and SNRI's only work for 40% of people so I believe it’s time for doctors to look for other medication as 40% is not good enough and even if they do work they take 4 weeks to work which if you are suicidal it could be a matter of life or death."

"I have chronic anxiety and depression and a history of substance abuse. I also have a high stress and demanding job that is near impossible when the depression is kicking. I am taking Venlafaxine 150, ability 5 with trazadone 25 and Gabapentin 300 to help with sleep. A few months ago I got into a funk on the meds and started ruminating about substance abuse. I had been sober for 8 years . That was almost a year ago. I got on Armodafanil 250mg from my psychiatrist and felt much better. I never think about drinking alcohol or using cannabis."

"61 y.o. female w/MDD, Fibromyalgia and probably ADHD. Have been on many anti-deps since the early 90’s and developed severe anxiety early 2000s. Now take low dose alpraz. Psych prescribed NUVIGIL 10yrs? ago - and IT ALLOWS ME TO LIVE & FUNCTION! For the longest time I assumed it was my inability to focus being the reason for the Nuvigil. But I can clearly see how it CLEARS THE FOG OF DEPRESSION! Even dr’s aren’t sure what receptor(s) are affected. I’m praying that the daily mg restrictions are lifted b/c I believe that’s needed for an all-day benefit. BTW, Nuvigil does not make me feel anxious or jittery like Adderall - but actually gives me a sense of calm."
