Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "I have been on Eliquis for pulmonary embolism in both lungs. I was a healthy, active 42-year-old woman, and no reason for them. I had severe headaches, muscle weakness, and fatigue for a few weeks. I started feeling a lot better and was doing well with my usual kickboxing workout until recently. I am now experiencing fatigue and severe back pain, as well as dizziness and shortness of breath. I'm hoping I can get off of the meds in March. Anyone else experience this?"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was on Eliquis for three weeks prior to a cardioversion. Made me feel tired, fatigued, no motivation. I would get a headache in the afternoon and wake up with a headache. Sometimes I felt woozy, almost dizzy. After the cardioversion, I went to 1/2 tablet for a week. The side effects were somewhat less, but still terrible. I didn't feel like doing anything, dishes piled up in the sink, house didn't get swept, I just felt like sitting. I stopped taking it, and the next day I felt great. Not doing this again."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "I wound up with PE and DVT behind right knee. I was in the hospital for 72 hours and was prescribed Eliquis twice a day. I feel like I have lost me. I am in constant leg pain, my joints and lower back hurt so bad. After two weeks, my hair started falling out and I wound up with Edema. I had sudden weight gain with no diet change. I get dizzy and light-headed and fumble to speak at times. My body itches constantly. I just want off this drug!! I feel it is poisoning me and the shortness of breath and wheezing are scaring me. Please don't take this drug. I struggle every day to walk and fight through the pain."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "My mother (75) was taken off Warfarin after 20 years and prescribed Eliquis for convenience. Four days on Eliquis was more than enough. Just got back from the ER where we spent the night getting her checked out. She experienced tremors, fatigue, nausea, loss of balance, and basically felt like rubbish! This drug seems quite dangerous even though our cardiologist tells us she has successfully placed hundreds on the drug. I would not recommend it to anyone!"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis Prophylaxis after Knee Replacement Surgery "I would like to know if anyone else on Eliquis has experienced the following while on this med. I have had a 12-pound weight gain in three months, a cough that won’t go away, gout, balance issues, and serious joint pain. Am I the only one? Are others experiencing some of the same? Every day I wake up, my weight is up two more pounds. I am very tired all the time. Help, I feel like I am going nuts, and the doctors think I am a hypochondriac."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was in Afib in the hospital this last time and they prescribed Eliquis. This is HORRIBLE medicine. I was only on it for 8 days and I got severe vertigo, and I was so winded that I couldn't even walk to the kitchen without feeling like I was gonna faint. My appetite was almost nonexistent. I will NEVER take this medicine again. The side effects are brutal."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was on this med for eleven days and stopped. I'm incredibly healthy with only a blood clotting disorder and a history of several DVTs. I had doctors push for me to take this medication even though I protested. I even had one threaten to fire me as a patient, so I left and found a new doctor. This new doctor also pushed Eliquis! I really do think they are getting paid to prescribe it. I am experiencing dizziness and being out of breath often. Last night I even forgot how to turn on my phone. I'm only 45 years old. I'm refusing to take this med. Never, ever again. I'm returning to high-dose aspirin. Forgetting how to turn on my phone was the nail in the coffin. I'm glad I found this website. Good to know I'm not alone. This med is not worth it! Only eleven days and I'm gone."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "After a routine internist visit and then an EKG, I was diagnosed with Afib but with a low pulse, therefore, I have no major symptoms of Afib - maybe a sometimes pounding heart. I saw two cardiologists and was placed on Eliquis. Since then, I have had major joint pain, difficulty climbing steps, dizziness, fatigue, and itching. All in all, the joint pain was unreal, and I took myself off the 2.5 mg twice a day that I was taking (even though my prescription was 5 mg twice a day). Eliquis has lactose in it, and I am lactose intolerant, so I immediately noticed a problem, and that is why I cut my pills in half to take a 2.5 mg dose. That did solve the lactose problem, but the joint issues were not resolved until I got off the medication. I was on it for about 2 months, so I am unsure how expensive it was ultimately going to be because I was given a free month and then a reduced-rate month. I am 72 years old."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "Was placed on Eliquis after a small PE. The clot was dissolved within three weeks, so while I’m grateful the Eliquis did its job, I begged my doctor to take me off it and got switched to Warfarin. Eliquis just made me feel lifeless. I had all day fatigue and weakness, feeling spacey and zoned out to the degree that it was very challenging to work at times, dizziness, heart palpitations, spells where I felt on the verge of passing out, difficulty swallowing, random weird pains in my eyes, ears, and extremities, back spasms and constant back pain, water weight gain and uncomfortable bloating and swelling, swollen feet and ankles, nausea, GI distress, stomach pains, and diarrhea, and rectal bleeding. Also had liver tests come back with abnormalities while on the med. These symptoms caused my doctor to refer me to several trips to the ER."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Had leg pain, told my Primary Care Doctor. She had the hospital take an ultrasound and they admitted me to the hospital immediately. Said I had a DVT. On heparin while in the hospital, no side effects to mention. Started Eliquis as soon as I got home. Feel like I am dead. Weak, dizzy, can't stand, off balance, my body hurts all over like I was someone's punching bag. Wicked tremors, itchy skin feeling. Head feels like it's full of cotton, hard time concentrating. And this has only been for one week!"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I am 84. After two atrial fibrillation incidents that were two years apart, my doctor prescribed Eliquis, one 5mg pill once a day. After ingesting the first pill at 8:00 am, by 11:00 am I was dizzy and just felt lousy. I emailed my doctor, suggesting that I take only half a pill a day. She agreed. After two weeks of feeling lousy, I awoke one morning with my right eye severely reddened and the right side of my head throbbing. It was a weekend, so I went to Urgent Care, they did an echocardiogram, which showed I was pretty okay. Before I went home, I told the doctor that I would never again take Eliquis. She didn't like that. But I went back on my old metformin/aspirin regime and after six months I am okay."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was having dizziness shortly after taking the pill. I kept taking it for almost a month when I had a fainting spell and decided I had to stop it. My doctor agreed that I should. I am an 80-year-old woman just recently diagnosed with AF. I am back on 81mg aspirin. I am not diabetic or have any other maladies. I'm glad for those who it works for, I'm just not one of them."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I have been diagnosed with intermittent atrial fibrillation. I am 59 years old and was put on Eliquis. After a month, I have dizzy spells where I feel like I am going to faint and feel very weak. It has gotten to the point where I am scared to drive. I am also supposed to start taking Multaq, a heart pill, but I am scared due to the side effects I have read about. I am currently waiting on Multaq because I now have gallstones and will need surgery. I feel like I have no life now."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Update from a previous comment. Switched from Xarelto to Eliquis about 12 months ago. Horrific side effects as with Xarelto. I had days where I can't remember simple basic things, difficulty remembering family members' names. Am dizzy, nauseous, osteoarthritis, joint pain, ears ringing, complete loss of vision. Penile bleeding. Strange pimples. Horrific lack of energy. Chest pains and fluttering heart, feels like a heart attack. WEIGHT GAIN... I went from 150-165 average to becoming 210. But adding weight plus the inability to exercise and strengthen the body.. any mishap fall or jump or avoidance of sudden movement and you can be SEVERELY INJURED. As I lay here with a back injury also related to NEUROPATHY from Eliquis."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was on Eliquis from 11/2019 to 7/2020. In the spring of 7/2020, I started having dizziness until I went to the ER and found out I was having TIAs. I was taken off that medication. It didn’t work for me, and there are no blood draws to prove it is even working. Now I am on baby aspirin and Coumadin, which is working. There should be some lab tests for that. I am still healing and just waiting for my right eye to heal."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "At age 79 and put on Eliquis 5 days ago-I have had such bad dizziness and nausea-and because of Meniere's also, the ears ringing has been awful and added to all this. I have chronic a-fib and have had two cardioversions. I was previously on 2 baby aspirin daily. Couldn't tolerate either of the other newer meds either. Everything seems to increase my dizziness due to Meniere's and adds to nausea and even confusion, etc. So, I just told my doctor, no more of this drug. I want to stay with the 2 baby aspirin daily. No history of stroke in my family, nor have I had any. I just don't do meds well 'at all'."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "I had PE (pulmonary embolism) 8 months ago. I started Xarelto, but after six months, I still had 4 clots in my lungs. The doctor changed me to Eliquis. Now, I have been taking Eliquis for 3 months, but I am experiencing thyroid problems in my blood test because of this medicine. Tomorrow, I am going to see the doctor, they may change my medicine because now I feel swallowing dizziness and muscle pain. I'm just 35 years old. I'm in big trouble."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "Recently had a TIA due to A Fib and was put on Eliquis. No issues for 3 weeks until my heart rate spiked to 180 BPM, tachycardia, and feeling a flush of adrenaline throughout my body. Within 4 days, I had 3 episodes of it and was finally put on metoprolol to control my heart rate. It's now been 2 months, and I still continue to have episodes of tachycardia with the flushing of adrenaline feeling. I'm also feeling dizzy quite often and in a fog a lot of the time. I feel like I'm a few heartbeats away from a heart attack. Doctors don't seem too worried, but they're not going through it. I've never had instances of tachycardia until taking Eliquis and Lipitor. Not happy and will be asking for alternatives."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis "I was put on Eliquis (Apixaban) 2 years ago for DVT, initially, all was well, but now I get sores on my scalp, itching all over my body, and several dizzy spells a day that last only a second, but my whole body tingles for several minutes and severe ringing in my ears. I don't like it. I am seeing my Dr on the 7/11/19, need to change it as it has caused me to resign from my job due to the unpleasant side effects."

Now I take 1 chewable aspirin, Crestor, and now all my cholesterol stuff is low, and Eliquis 5 mg twice a day. I mainly get the dizziness and muscle cramps. Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "The following problems occur when taking Eliquis: First, I want to mention that I am also on Sotalol since 2008 (taken alone, no side effects) 80 mg AM and 40 mg PM. It seems as if most drugs that I try out have an effect on the Sotalol, although the register says that there is no interaction between those drugs. Besides, it runs in the family that most of us (3) have a problem with almost any drug. Eliquis: headache, restless heartbeat, perspiring, dizziness, physical instability, general weakness, and shaky legs, etc. Generally, unhappy."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I have been taking Eliquis for about 7 months due to AF. I resisted taking Eliquis forever and insisted that aspirin was doing the job. My cardiologist was nice but firm in mentioning that I have a history of strokes on the maternal side of my family. My AF got worse after 8 years of being on Flecainide, BP and cholesterol meds, so I had a cryoablation in June of 2016. So far, I have not had any bad side effects, but I do have some dizziness and occasional flushing. I also have a tendency to get rashes. Has anyone had this happen? So far, I've been fine and no AF, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all works."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "I had a blood clot in my leg (DVT) which caused a clot to go to my right lung (PE). Started taking the drug Eliquis at the hospital. My first prescription was filled at Walmart for $78.00 with insurance. CVS charged me $40.00 for my second prescription with insurance. I called Eliquis and did qualify for a $10.00 copay card. Yea! I've experienced nosebleeds after blowing my nose. I've had dizzy spells that feel like very low blood pressure or feel like passing out after standing. Sometimes I'm okay, but after about 20 steps, it hits me hard. I've had rashes on my hip and pectoral region of my chest. I've had to itch my arm and ended up causing a bruise. Be careful and scratch lightly. Please quit smoking if any way possible."
