Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Colds turn into sinus infections pretty easily on me. Yes, I wait a while before I go to the doctor for antibiotics, as most sinus infections are viral. By the time I went to the doc with this one, I was MISERABLE. Hurting down into my jaw even. Within a few hours of taking the first pill, there was relief. I never knew I could have so much disgusting stuff come out of my nose. I always take probiotics (especially while on antibiotics) to decrease GI side effects. TAKE PROBIOTICS. Nausea and diarrhea are possible with any antibiotic."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I did not have any side effects. Loose stool the first few days, but not what I would consider diarrhea. I'm not sure if it worked, though. It helped my ears, but I still have a slight sinus headache. Just finished the 10th day. Two doses a day."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I am currently staying in the hospital overnight with an infected colon (thought it was appendicitis, it was so close), crazy watery diarrhea, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, and therefore dehydration. I have never had digestive problems like this, and I've never been in a hospital overnight. This is seriously because of Augmentin. Do not take this drug!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Augmentin is getting rid of my sinus infection, but the severe diarrhea side effect is going to have to make me quit. I have lost 3 pounds so far, have no energy, and can't keep anything in my body. I'm a runner, so this is totally not acceptable."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I had a sinus infection and was put on Augmentin for a week. I suffered from horrific headaches. I wanted someone to just knock me out because I couldn't handle the horrible headaches all day and night. My taste was affected as well. Even water didn't taste good. My stomach also affected me, and I did take a probiotic. I wouldn't take this medication ever again."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Right after the first dose, I experienced the worst stomach cramps, gas, bloating... all the way into my chest. It seemed to help my sinus infection, but nothing is worth that type of pain. I couldn't keep food down, I don't have issues with acid reflux until I started taking Augmentin. I tried one more dose before I quit, and I went to my regular doctor, and he agreed that this stuff is harsh on your stomach and changed to a different antibiotic. I tried drinking a lot of water, yogurt, and I increased my intake of probiotics, but so far nothing is helping. I am hoping this horrid feeling will go away eventually."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Acted quickly. Had strep throat, and Dr. prescribed Bactrim, which didn't help. I went back, and Dr. gave Augmentin, and within a few hours, I was feeling much better. Some stomach issues when taking the medicine."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Sinus infection had green mucus and coughing green mucus. I take antidepressants and benzodiazepines for anxiety. I’ve taken Augmentin for three days, my anxiety is out the roof, feels like my depression is awful. I’ve been crying. I’m not taking Augmentin again. Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Prescribed an 8-day prescription of Augmentin, and I would not recommend this poison to anyone else, EVER. I wake up every day with a headache like my head is in a vice and stomach cramps that rival the pain of the sinus infection I went in for in the first place. And yes, I eat yogurt and take extra probiotics. My heart beats like a horse's hooves on a racetrack and keeps me up far past any respectable time to go to sleep. I don't feel like myself at all, I'm telling you so you can run far away from this treacherous toxic substance."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I suffer from chronic sinus infections and migraine headaches. I usually can tell if a sinus infection has taken hold when sumatriptan (migraine med) is not working! First go-round a couple years ago with Augmentin 875 mg big pills was awful, and I experienced what others reported with horrible chemo-like diarrhea effects, barely made it through 5 of 10 days, but felt better in head afterwards. Decided to gut it out again a couple years later with another sinus infection after weaker antibiotics did not work and had a much easier time with Augmentin. Perhaps body needs to adjust to this med, but thank God it works!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I was prescribed Augmentin for a severe sinus infection. After about 3 days of taking it, I developed this weird skin rash first on the knuckles of both of my ring fingers, then noticed I had the same spots on my knees in the same place on both knees. This spread to both of my elbows also and creeped me out a little, so I just stopped taking the medicine altogether. It did seem to take the sinus infection away, but I make sure to tell my doctors I'm allergic to it now just in case I have a more severe reaction in the future. This rash just looked like red dots, no burning or itching either... Pretty strange."

"Works good and fast for sinus infection. TAKE probiotics or at least some yogurt an hour before or an hour after to help with stomach issues. Personally, I would rather have the shits than a sinusitis infection any day, as the sinusitis infection laid me out, body and mind."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Monday morning, I went to my doctor, and she diagnosed me with sinusitis and prescribed me Augmentin. I took my first dose at around 11 a.m. Four hours later, I was feeling terribly nauseous with awful cramps. Though the medication had helped subside the pain in my head, there was a newfound pain in my stomach. I stopped taking the medication on Wednesday because the stomach pains were unbearable. In my experience, this medication helped get rid of my sinus infection, but now I am suffering through daily nausea and cramps, and I have been off the antibiotics for two days."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I was on Augmentin for 10 days, did not resolve the sinus problem. REFILL: Now I have been on Augmentin for 14 days, and it has helped SOME, but the infection is still on the left side, sinuses and tonsils. Also, at times I experience feelings of light-headedness, and I wonder if it is the medication or allergies. My blood pressure seems to be up and down since taking the Augmentin, and at times I have body aches and pains that make sleeping difficult. I have increased my fluid intake to offset the dryness, but I wish that the antibiotic would cure the sinus problem. I hope the doctor takes me off this and finds something that works."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Experienced severe insomnia 5 days into the treatment. When attempting to sleep, I would be jolted awake with a surge of adrenaline. Quit treatment 8 days in. People need to know that antibiotics kill good and bad bacteria and that gut and mood health are linked."

"So far, so good. No major problems. Minor stomach irritation, but that's normal for most antibiotics. I took it 2 a day with food and a full glass of water. My sinus symptoms cleared up very quickly. Be sure to take a few high-dose probiotics while on this medication. You can pick probiotics at any drug store. Make sure your probiotics are 1 billion count or higher to be effective in keeping the natural flora count. Taking the probiotics a few hours before I took the antibiotics worked best for me."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Prescribed Augmentin for my sinusitis at a dose of 2x a day for 10 days. Strength is 875/125. I’m on day 5, and I still have severe sinus pain and lots of bloody mucus discharge. I had sinus polypectomy surgery 26 days ago and was cleared post-op at day 19. On day 21, I had a full-blown sinus infection that is also causing double vision. Augmentin is doing absolutely nothing, and I do not feel any better. Usually, there should be some relief or improvement by day 5. I do not have any stomach trouble with it, but I also make sure I’ve eaten a full meal before taking the meds, and I am taking probiotics 1X per day. The only side effect I’m having is I’m getting itchy hands and feet for about 2 hours after taking Augmentin. No rash, just itchiness."

"The first time I took the new version of Augmentin, I truly prayed for death within hours! But it is the only medication that helps me with my severe sinusitis, so I decided to take a 1/2 pill 4 times per day WITH FOOD, and I had zero side effects, so I'm praying I have the same experience this time! Nothing worse than having the sinus pressure and vomiting! I hope this helps!!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I will never take this drug again. I was prescribed a 10-day/twice-a-day dose for a sinus infection. I took one pill. Within 4 hours of taking the pill, I was experiencing fever-like chills, tingling, nerve pain in my feet, and restlessness. I had nightmares and a terrible night's sleep. The worst part is the headache I can't shake and the extreme fatigue. My head feels like it's in a vice. I've done nothing but sleep all day-only moving to take Advil, which barely touches the headache. I just assume suffer through the sinus infection rather than experience the past 24 hours on this drug."

"It's a very strong antibiotic. If you take it, make sure you also take a probiotic about 3 hours between doses. You shouldn't have bowel issues if you do this. And if your doctor is any good, he/she should be telling you this. Or eat some yogurt. This stuff is powerful on your system."

"Pro: Got relief from a bad sinus infection within one day. Cons: Supremely hard on my stomach and energy level. If I was not nauseous, I had severe stomach pains and chest dagger-like pangs. Also had the sweats. And yes, all this even after taking probiotics and with food."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "DO NOT TAKE AUGMENTIN! I am healthy (run marathons - no pre-existing conditions) and never take meds. I was prescribed this for a headache (after a vehicle accident) and a little sinusitis at Onpoint. I was so sick, and after 5 days (my heart started hurting, lost all healthy bacteria (worst diarrhea and stripped stomach lining), had a fiery red rash after 10 days all over my body! It took 2 weeks for the rash to go away after I got off Augmentin. My body systems have never been the same!! Destroyed them. THIS IS TOXIC, tell your doctors too). If you MUST take an antibiotic, use something safer. Also, my husband (really healthy) didn't quite believe me. He was prescribed it, he was flat on his back/couch, vomiting and couldn't MOVE after 2 days! He stopped immediately."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Was diagnosed with a sinus infection. I have not used antibiotics in years. Put me on Augmentin. Took the fourth dose this morning, so day three. I feel horrible! So tired, foggy, just want to sleep, my heart feels a little racey, bad gas, diarrhea yesterday, bad cramping. Taking with food and probiotics. I am trying to give it a chance, but I can't seem to do anything but sit here. I almost felt better before starting it."
