For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Been prescribed this for the second time. (First time Metronidazole, Lansoprazole, and amoxicillin with severe side effects, so I had to stop taking it, including nausea 97% of the time, abdominal cramps, loss of appetite). This is a 7-day treatment. Just finished day 1 of the medication. Took my first dose this morning, had no side effects for 4 hours. I went back to sleep and woke up with a STRONG metallic taste in my mouth that I couldn't flush out. Taken my second dose after dinner and now suffering from upper back pain on my left side. Not sure if it's a side effect from the medication. Also, my guts are moving a lot more as if there's wind trapped inside. These are side effects I can handle for 7 days, hoping I don't get severe nausea."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 3 out of 14, and I am so miserable. I don't want to continue it, but I have to :'( I pass really stinky gas, horrible diarrhea, nausea, feeling tired most of the time, but worst of all is the weird taste in my mouth. Oh God, when I wake up to it... Probably the reason why I feel so nauseated. Drinking a lot of water, eating candy (tiny M&Ms that come in bottles. For some reason, it helped me... weird, I know), and Listerine PocketPaks all help me with the disgusting, nasty taste so far. I hope it's worth it. I give it a five because of the side effects, but the treatment better be a 10... I sure hope it's worth it :'((("

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I will take this medicine the rest of my life if it means no more bacteria. I know that's an exaggeration. I have had diarrhea every day, which is burning my skin around my anus. I can live with anything as long as I'm on the right path to recovery. The diarrhea occurs all day long, without much time to get to the bathroom. But I expect many bowel movements since I'm ridding myself of a digestive bacteria. I highly recommend this medicine pack, with positive thoughts of 100% recovery in my near future."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had acute gastritis and went to the ER to get IV fluids. While there, they ran a test for H. pylori and it was positive. My only symptoms prior to the ER visit were frequent heartburn. I was given a prescription for Biaxin, amoxicillin, and omeprazole for 14 days. I got online and was horrified by the reviews. I delayed starting my meds. The first three days were hell on earth: nausea, fatigue, anxiety. I learned very quickly to eat with each dose. I had the metallic taste up until day 10, and then it went away. I'm wrapping up day 12, and while the treatment was tough in the beginning, it is doable. My GI is going to do an EGD in 60 days. I was also told to continue omeprazole for 2 months to heal ulcers and combat rebound reflux. Feeling better!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "In a period of a few years, I visited many doctors because of pain in my stomach. I was always hungry and felt very tired. Sometimes my belly was like a balloon without any reason. Until this doctor sent me for a blood test for Helicobacter pylori, and the results came out positive. I was very optimistic and was hoping this pain and problems would finally stop. I got the medicine on Saturday and started the treatment on Sunday morning. After taking it for 3 days, I noticed huge results, had more energy, and I was waking up fresh. A day after, I started having this sweet taste in my mouth, which scared me a little bit... maybe I got an infection. I continued taking this medicine, and on the 7th day of this treatment, I got a terrible headache and anxiety."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 5. My neck hurts and my back and chest hurt, and it's hard to breathe. I have insomnia and no appetite, diarrhea, and chills every time I take it. I remember the Dr. saying some people's bodies can't handle it - if you feel weak, then skip a dosage and start again. Doesn't stop the side effects. Along with all that, I have headaches and a shooting pain in my left arm from time to time. I also feel weak and even dizzy, along with a sore throat that's red in places. I'm going to go see the Dr. when I get off work, 'cause I think it could be an infection, and that scares me, so maybe I'll go, maybe I'll suck it up and finish it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on the last day of a 14-day treatment. A little bad taste, but it didn't last long. Doctor must have faith in Prevpac because I asked if I need to be retested, and he said no. A routine colonoscopy/upper endoscopy showed the presence of H. pylori. Still not sure how I was infected, I had an endoscopy 5 years ago and didn't have it then. My wife said better me than her, she could never have taken all this medication and was amazed at how well I tolerated the Prevpac 14-day treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 12. I took the first dose in the evening, and the next morning I woke with the strong metallic taste in my mouth. That taste is there every morning, but I can easily wash it away with a drink of water. Around days 4-6, I had very loose stools from everything I ate. Since then, it has been off and on, but I have at least one loose stool every day. My H. pylori infection caused at least two ulcers, so I was experiencing a lot of nausea before, which has gradually improved with this medication-something must be working. This medication gave me really bad yeast infections (both oral and vaginal), but gargling with hydrogen peroxide a few times cleared it up. And treated the 'other' area. This medication has been tough, but still better than the H. pylori and ulcer symptoms."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day three of Prevpac and was prescribed four pills equally for H. pylori, costing $841.00. I haven't had any major side effects besides swollen eyelids that went away in the morning. I was scared to take it after reading a lot of reviews, but it's worth the shot if it'll cure my stomach pains that I've had for 11 years!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have been taking Prevpac for a week now, and the horrible abdominal pain is long gone. :) However, I am experiencing rather unpleasant back pain as a side effect. I have been stretching like crazy trying to mitigate it, but it doesn't seem to be working. I am using ice packs and a portable TENS unit to deal with it. While not fun, it is a whole lot better than the agony of an H. pylori infection."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Yearlong pain was gone by day 3. But on day 4, the horrible side effects started. The awful taste in my mouth at all times, worsening constipation, headband headache, and up all night with insomnia. If it wasn't worth it to get rid of this stomach infection, I would quit taking this med. That's how bad these side effects combined are for me. If it was just one, and not at all the up all night insomnia, I would be much better."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "My only symptom at first was no appetite! Ate one day, the next, didn't want to eat anything. Felt normal otherwise. One week later, I had lost 10 pounds. I noticed heart palpitations. Stopped taking Celebrex for my arthritis and all NSAIDs for migraines. Went to the hospital and had a complete workup on my heart, a CT scan, X-rays, blood work, stress test... all normal. In the third week, I was able to eat some. Started back on Celebrex. Two weeks later, lost appetite again with nausea. Lost 25 pounds. Had upper GI noted small hiatal hernia. Gastroenterologist did EGD with biopsy. Stomach was irritated from NSAIDs and H. Pylori. So, I started on Amox 500 two a day, Flagyl 3x a day, Carafate, Prilosec. Feel great. Retest next week."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "After 2 days of Prevpac meds, I am quitting. My H. pylori is asymptomatic, but I felt let's get rid of this microbe. My first day, I had stomach pains and a headache. My stomach felt better day 2, but the headache stayed. The main reason for stopping is I'm getting vertigo. The first night a little bit, the second night spinning. If I went to this blog first, I would not have taken these meds. I just assumed I would handle it okay. My advice, unless you are very sick, do not take. It sucks!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Worried after reading reviews, but test positive for H. pylori and have stomach issues all summer. I'm taking it AM and PM, but a probiotic with lunch and some yogurt. I'm also using a probiotic at night vaginally to combat the yeast. I will update after day 7."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was very nauseous and vomited and felt like I had the flu throughout the therapy. I was warned that I might get diarrhea, but fortunately, I didn't. I got a second endoscopy done and a biopsy to see if the medicine worked, and... it was unsuccessful."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Given Prevpac for H. pylori. Within 48 hrs of ending the full course of medication, I experienced an anaphylactic reaction. Large, round, flat hives formed on the soft part of my arms and inner thighs. My hands began to swell, and then I felt my face begin to swell. The swelling moved from left to right across my face, and it eventually began to close my throat and enlarge my tongue. My husband drove me to an urgent care center where I received a shot of Kenalog and a Medrol dose pack. I always list Prevpac as a medicine of which I am allergic."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I started the treatment 3 days ago. The first day, I had a bad taste in my mouth with increased saliva and at times difficult to swallow. The second day was just the same, but I had insomnia, waking up every 2 hours throughout the night. Currently on day 3, and I still have the same symptoms. I chewed gum when I had a bad taste in my mouth, and it seemed to help. I have been on a bland diet and no caffeine since I started. Hopefully, this treatment is successful for H. pylori. I will update after the medication is finished."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I hope everyone is doing well. I'm 29 years old, and after 3 months of ER, almost fainting a couple of times, and just a complete nightmare, got my results back that I'm borderline positive for H. pylori. 1.10 and higher is positive, mine was 1.09 (but I was taking pantoprazole for 3 weeks before doing the test). Oh my, this is worse than actually being sick, hahaha! But after reading what a lot of you have been through, it gives me comfort that I will pull through! (Day 3 for me)"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I started the pack this evening. Within half an hour of taking the 4 pills, followed by a complete, healthy dinner, my throat tightened up. A couple of minutes later, I started to glow and had a warm sensation all over. This turned to an aggressive itch, and after about another 5 or so minutes, I had trouble breathing. The skin sensation turned into an unbearable burning sensation all over. I ended up on the floor, and my wife called 911. Paramedics came, blood pressure and pulse went OTT. Paramedics thought it was an allergic reaction, gave me Benadryl to counter the effect, and about 15 minutes later, my throat started to relax, the glow and red skin started to subside, and the itching and tingling started to calm down. Better luck next time."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I put off taking this for 8 months. The large dose of antibiotics is something I don’t take lightly. Probiotics are a MUST with this and any antibiotic. Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic resistant against antibiotics, so it helps with digestive discomfort and to somewhat preserve the gut flora. Helped me stay regular. I really didn't want to take this strong dosage, but it worked! I did adjust my diet as best I could in hopes of eradicating H. pylori. I limited wheat as best I could and no sugar or alcohol… The worst side effect was the gross taste in the mouth. It mostly came a few hours after taking a dose, so in the late AM and in the middle of the night. Drinking water helped, and I got used to it or it lessened by day 14. My appetite was good and is important with this medication. I ate yogurt and honey to help my gut as well. One night I had insomnia, but I’m not 100% sure it came from this med. I’m so glad it worked. 14 days."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Actually, I realized just a week ago that I was having an H. pylori infection, and I started medication yesterday. Meanwhile, I'm doing well, but the side effects are hard. I get a metallic taste, I feel nausea, and when I vomit, I spit just bubbles. It also just makes me feel super tired. But hopefully, I'll get better."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 7 of this Prevpac, feel a little weak. My main side effects are abdominal pain and bloating after taking the doses. Hopefully, it will go away after day 14. We all need to be strong and finish this treatment, it's the only way to get rid of this bacteria."
