For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was VERY hesitant to take the meds due to the horror stories and I'm glad I actually went through with it!!! Everyone reacts different to the meds and it's not as bad as I read it would be!!! I'm currently on Day 10 of 14(Almost there...Kudos to me!!!) 1st couple days I felt nothing...By Day 4 I notice the dark stool, and I'm still having dark stools...By Day 8 I'm a bit nauseous at times and would feel better after eating. So far, yesterday which was Day 9 for me I felt the worst of it...I was nauseous all day, light headache, frequently BMs, and exhausted. Today Day 10, a little nauseous earlier around breakfast and a little bit now...but better after eating!!! Also, my sense of smell seem to have heightened which also makes me nauseous...But overall, it's definitely not as bad as I read or as bad as the doctor told me it would be...But honestly I can't wait to finish!!!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've had the h.pylori infection for at least a few years but this year it got to a point where I couldn't handle it. I had severe gastritis and couldn't eat anymore. Some days the food I ate over the course of a day wouldn't even add up to one meal. The treatment was not pleasant, but tolerable. It's a lot of pills to take in one day and I felt exhausted some of the days. A few weeks after I finished the treatment, I noticed that I no longer have immediate pain and nausea when I try to eat. Now (4 months later) I can almost eat a full meal and feel ok. It took a while to recover but it was very much worth it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Today is my 5th day of taking the medication. I too was worried about taking it after reading some horror stories regarding the side effects. I am happy to say that so far the only side effects that I've experienced is a little tiredness the first day and the bad taste in my mouth which I've noticed that I've experience more in the middle of the night upon waking for various reasons. All in all I am pleased, other then the fact that I have to take them for 14 days. Good luck to all!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Two years ago I began having symptoms of H Pylori. The first episode lasted about 20 minutes. It was a terrible pain in my upper abdomen. The pain was more intense than gas pain, but I wrote it off as such. After that, every 3 months or so I would be woken up by the same terrible pain and I always knew I wasn't getting sleep that night as it would last 4-6 hours and I could not get comfortable. I had one of those night episodes, but the pain wouldn't go away. It wasn't constantly the same degree of pain, some times it would be a churning pain, a bloated pain, or a general soreness. After a week, went to the doctor and was tested positive for H Pylori. There was a huge difference/day 3 and the pain was just about gone/day 4. Amazing"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've had some stomach pain but nothing like before I was diagnosed. The taste is getting really bad in my mouth - I'm on day 7 but I just keep drinking water to get rid of the taste..it's like zingy, metal taste, raw like I burned my tongue of coffee. I do have cramping about an hour after taking but then it goes away. I have more bowel movements but I assume it's just the meds working. It's almost over. Hopefully I never have to do anything like this again. I'm no longer tired, groggy, no energy - I feel fantastic - I had no idea it was the infection making me so ill."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was worried going into this medicine after reading so many negative things. I took it for 14 days and had minimal side effects. I feel like it did what it was intended to do, and am grateful my pain has ceased and am feeling human again. The only side effects I had were a headache one day...drowsiness...bad taste in the mouth a couple times, and a pretty active female yeast infection. All of which are better now. Good luck, to those who need it . Wishing you good results too."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was diagnosed with H.pylori a year ago and finally did Prevpac. I've had terrible diarrhea since starting - took my last dose today. Generally, my stomach was always churning and the diarrhea was consistent while on the treatment. No other side effects, energy levels were fine and was able to work out daily. Hopefully H.pylori is gone."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 4 and the stomach pain has not subsided, being H-pylori positive. The drugs put a TERRIBLE taste in my mouth. Even during sleep, the bad taste wakes me up and makes me want to gag. I've been eating lemon drops and candy to help keep it washed back down."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've completed my 7-day Prevpac treatment. I did have side-effects after the first day of starting the course of medicines. I experienced raced heartbeat, slight breathlessness and diarrhea, only for a few hours though. But I was absolutely unable to sleep the first night of taking the pills because of the bitter taste in the mouth when I lay down. The bitterness was the one thing that bothered me all the 7 days. Thank goodness that the course is over now. However, the major symptom that I had was severe bloating (firm near the upper abdomen) and it is still there with no visible changes. My GP says it will take time to see results, say at least 2 months. Waiting for the 2 months to fly ASAP, Fingers-crossed!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Don't be afraid to take the PrevPac for h. pylori. I have suffered for a month with pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I'm on only day 3 of a 14 day treatment and I am almost back to my old self again! Many people complain about the side effects, but all I have experienced is a slight metal taste in my mouth at times - so worth being almost well."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was diagnosed with HP and am on day 6 of treatment. I have extreme insomnia, very bad taste in my mouth all the time no matter what I do, have stomach pain and gas I can't seem to pass, did have diarrhea on first couple days of treatment but now constipated. I want to feel better soon."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 5 of taking this medication I was feeling fine but now I am experiencing severe lower back pain. It seems to come and go. I am going to call my doctor to see if this is a common side effect and if it means something bad is happening due to the meds. Whatever the doctor says I will report back here."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Don't be scared of prevpac, the first couple of days are kind of rough due to the initially getting rid of the a large amount of h pylori but you immediately start feeling better when taking with a probiotic. Prevpac is candy compared to some of the other fluroquinolones like cipro or levofloxacin. Trust me you do not want them. I'm on day 13 or 14 and I feel like a million dollars."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am so happy I found this site!!! I am on day 10 of the hpac (amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole). The first few days were great. Felt better than I have in the last year. But day 8 I started to feel ill. Terrible terrible nausea, stomach ache, headache, loss of energy, can’t sleep, hate food, metallic taste... Thought of stopping treatment but after reading other posts will take some probiotics, yogurt, gravoll and hope it gets me through the next 4 days. I found if you need a quick relief from the stomach pain and nausea for an hour, Gaviscon will help. Hope this works. Could not go through another course of treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was a little nervous about taking this after reading some horror stories online. The first day I had some burning in my stomach and nausea but then I started taking a probiotic an hour before the am and pm antibiotics and that helped amazingly well. The only side effect I suffered for the 2 weeks was a bad taste in my mouth(a little like metal). The prevpac worked for me. No more stomach issues. I just recommend taking a probiotic. It really helped!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "For the first week I was in excruciating pain: nausea, severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, sweating, insomnia, confusion, extreme exhaustion and fatigue, battery acid taste in my mouth, etc. I reached out to my doctor and pharmacist who offered absolutely no help. Through research I found that taking probiotics/yogurt helps with EVERYTHING, stay as hydradated as you can. I ate a lot of Ramen noodles to compensate for actual food/water since my appetite was non-existant. I didn't think I was going to be able to finish the treatment. If I test positive again, I'm going with natural remedies."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Hello everyone - I was tested for the dreaded Pylori and the doc said I had a high amount in my gut. I was prescribed the triple therapy all prescribed separately so the cost was generic - $22 with insurance. I dreaded starting this regime from all the horrific reviews - but I'm on day 2 and so far so good. I do have some explosive diarrhea times, churning stomach, mild headache and very tired. I'm hoping the rest of the 12 days will go this smoothly. I'm on holiday break so I'm taking the time off - I don't see how someone could work a stressful or manual labor job on these drugs. I did take all the advice from this forum - I am taking two Align probiotics a day with several glasses of kefir and yogurt and eating small veggie meals and crackers - nothing acid or spicey or carb heavy."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have had ulcers, stomach pain and digestive issues for 6 years. Doctors were no help always prescribing PPI's or H2 Blockers. Emergency Doc gave me Prevpac. I have experienced minimal side effects. I had diarrhea once so far. I'm on day 9 and I have been taking a 50 billion probiotic at lunch and a 20 billion probiotic at bedtime. My 50 billion probiotic has to be refrigerated. Overall I am feeling pretty good. No stomach pain and my bowel movements are normal for the first time in my life. Even though I hate antibiotics this on seems to be working well. I will however wean myself off the Previcid so avoid rebound acid. Oh and all meds affect me, but this one is ok. Anything is better that what I have had to deal with over the years."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had bad reflux, night nausea and heartburn for nearly 7 months before being diagnosed with an endoscopy. Only on Day 3 of therapy (Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, and Omeprazole). Side Effects : Mild nausea, no strange taste, but I do get thirsty and I have had quite bad stomach pain (bloating, gas etc) and back pain. I was also very scared to take these meds after reading all the comments but so far so good. Most annoying thing is having to take so many meds at one time! Hoping I have no new side effects. I do take a probiotic and anti nausea pills twice per day with the antibiotics and I do take the antibiotics with food. I really hope that after the 14 days I am cured as I don't want to have to do this again!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 4 and it's starting to work. I tested positive for H Pylori after noticing bloating and pain after a trip to China in 2009. I was given Prevpac in 2009 but never ended up taking it due to a separate illness (it was a bad year). Ended up ignoring H Pylori until recently due to it getting so bad I have begun staying bedridden on weekends and feeling nauseous all the time. Energy has been zapped as well as chest pains and other weird sensations. Went back to the doctor and got the script again. Started Friday - the first few days were a little rough with nausea (always take with food!) but it's getting better. I feel much more energy and the constant stomach pain has minimized dramatically. Fingers crossed this is the solution."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 3 out of 14 and I am sooo miserable. I don't want to continue it, but I have too :'( . I pass really stinky gas, horrible diarrhea, nausea, feeling tired most of the time, but worse of all is the weird taste in my mouth. Oh god, when I wake up to it... Probably the reason why I feel so nauseated. Drinking a lot of water, eating CANDY (tiny m&m that comes in bottles. For some reason, it helped me..weird, I know.), and listerine pocketpaks all help me with the disgusting nasty taste so far. I hope it's worth it. I give it a five because of the side effects but the treatment better be a 10..I sure hope it's worth it :'((("

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 8.. No stomach issues except mild cramping every so often, maybe once a day for a couple of minutes. The worst part for me is the disgusting taste and like others it is waking me up its so nasty. Also starting yesterday it feels like my tongue is on fire. I pray that after I complete the Prevpac I never have to do it again. I am miserable."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Been prescribed this for the second time. (First time Metronidazole, Lansoprazole and amoxicillin with severe side effects so I had to stop taking it, including nausea 97% of the time, abdominal cramps, loss of appetite). This is a 7 day treatment. Just finished day 1 of the medication. Took my first dose this morning, had no side effects for 4 hours. I went back to sleep and woke up with a STRONG metallic taste in my mouth that I couldn't flush out. Taken my second dose after dinner and now suffering from upper back pain on my left side. Not sure if it's a side effect from the medication. Also my guts are moving a lot more as if there's wind trapped inside. These are side effects I can handle for 7 days, hoping I don't get severe nausea"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On Day 6 of the 14 day treatment. The side effects I've experienced haven't been too bad: the bad taste in your mouth (usually at night and first thing in the morning), hard time staying asleep (insomnia), yellow stools, and some left side aches which I think may have to do with constipation. I'm sure I would be worse if I didn't take a probiotic with every dose of these meds."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had acute gastritis and went to ER to get iv fluids. While there, they ran a test for H. Pylori and it was positive. My only symptoms prior to the ER visit was frequent heartburn. I was given RX for biaxin, amoxicillin, and omeprazole for 14 days. I got online and was horrified of the reviews. I delayed starting my meds. The first three days were hell on earth. Nausea, fatigue, anxiety. I learned very quickly to EAT with each dose. I had the metallic taste up until day 10 and then it went away. I'm wrapping up day 12, and while the treatment was tough in the beginning, it is doable. My GI is going to do an EGD in 60 days. Was also told to continue omeprazole x 2 months to heal ulcers and combat rebound reflux. Feeling better!"
