"After having a myocardial infarction on December 22, 2015 , I was still struggling to get my numbers down, after trying just about every statin on the market, they all made my body ache and my joints so stiff I had to have help getting out of bed. I changed physicians she tried another statin with no luck. She asked if I would be willing to try praluent injections. LONG STORY SHORT NOTICE SIDE EFFECTS NUMBERS HAVE DROPPED DRAMATICALLY AND I FEEL GREAT,only benefit on injections 3 months!!!!!! Thank God for this medication!!!!!!! Got help paying for this from the manufacturer!!!"

"My family has a genetic history of high cholesterol. I've been using Praluent since it came out after the clinical trials. We arranged a cath lab examination two years after I started taking the Praluent, and everything looked normal around the heart, with no calcium buildup other than one little speck. I've never had a stroke or heart attack. My cholesterol levels are in the normal range but were high when I was younger. Statins had too many side effects, and I stopped using them. The side effects are minimal to date. I take two injections twice a month, 150 mg. each."

"I have been on Praluent for about 2 years. My lab numbers are awesome. However, 2 weeks ago after my bimonthly injection I developed a terrible itchy scaly rash at the injection site. No problems with the next 2, but then same thing again (different site). Not sure what's changed."

"Very pleased with the rapid cholesterol drop I've experienced in two months taking. But I am a little concerned with muscle aches which I believe started soon after I started it. I feel it is worth the tradeoff, if indeed, this is the case. Also, I have been napping more and feeling more tired since starting but do not see tiredness as a side effect anywhere listed, so it could be coincidental. I had trouble injecting it into my mid-section area because of the awkward angle, I found. So, my doctor recommended my upper thigh. I will try this next time."

"I have had a CV event and have very high LDL and high LPa and cannot tolerate statins. I started on Praluent and was fine right after the injection. But the first night I woke up with a very swollen tongue and lips and an extremely dry mouth and throat. Took 1/2 Benadryl which seemed to resolve. But over the next few days, I would experience bouts of extremely high BP and flushing of my face and chest (I tend to have low BP so this was very odd). High BP and flushing seemed to occur after any exertion and followed by extreme tiredness for a few weeks and my doctor told me not to take the next dose. Additionally, I have had very unusual headaches, and odd bruising, as well as pinpoint bleeding under my skin and bleeding (large thick clots of blood) from my nose. If I got bit by an insect I would have rubbery clots of blood on my skin. All very strange, and I will be glad when this med has worked its way out of my system (about 40 days). FYI I do have a lot of sensitivity to many meds so I am not surprised."

"I found Praluent fairly easy to use however I experienced very little reduction in my levels. What I did experience was inflammation of two pre-existing weaknesses in my body - both my feet, and my right elbow. Neither of these things caused me great discomfort prior to Praluent but left me almost unable to walk and performing normal activities with my right arm was excruciatingly painful. I could no longer safely lift things like a kettle, or whipper snip, trim hedges, etc. - things I’d always easily managed. It took me a few weeks to connect the onset of this pain with Praluent but it reduced considerably after I stopped using the product. I will always have these weaknesses in my body but the inflammation caused by this medication is not something I am prepared to put up with for the rest of my life."

"I've been taking Praluent 75 for 2 months now and report no side effects. I take ibupropen before the injection so I don't feel the small bee sting feeling in my leg. I am 70 yrs old and hope to take the injection forever to prevent another heart attack and a $55,000 bill for 2 days in the hospital. 10-10-2018. Express Scripts just sent me a letter approving my prescription."

"Fatigue, lethargy, developed varicose veins in both inner thighs best described as parallel mirror twins. The breaks were discovered during a routine annual screening by my surgeon. The tears were serious. My doctor was concerned because previous procedures on legs were minor. My cholesterol was reduced by one hundred points. My memory improved... recall... somewhat. The medicine is brutal and fatiguing. Didn't realize how draining it was until it was interrupted. My energy returned. My dosage was 150 ml injection twice monthly."

"I've used this medication for two years, and it has significantly reduced my LDL level. This is important because I'm unable to use or tolerate other high cholesterol medications due to adverse effects or lack of effect on the LDL level. My dose is 75 mg given by injection every two weeks, and I give myself the injection at home. My main issue with it is that it is expensive, and it's been a struggle getting it approved by insurances."

"After having a heart attack 2 years ago my cardio doctor put me on Praluent painless injections every two weeks in my legs along with daily 20 mg Atorvastatin (Lipitor). Together they both have lowered my bad LDL from 250 down to 25. I'm a 73 year old man. I'm very happy with the results. I don't notice any side effects. I'm also happy my Mutual of Omaha drug plan Plus which covers most of the cost 2020/2021. I'm waiting for the FDA to approve Inclisiran twice a year injections which will be much more cheaper."

"46 year old UK male; slim, above average fitness, eats well. Tried 3 different statins with same intolerable brain fog, muscle pains and palpitations over a 3 year period. 1st injection: mild muscle pains in my back, cold legs and feet, morning glory, a little brain fog, looser stools. 2nd injection: similar effects to the 1st but 50% less strong, except the morning glory and looser stools. 3rd injection: mild brain fog for an hour (starting about 2 hours after taking), cold feet, looser stools still. Not had bloods tested yet, but if LDL comes down I'd be very happy to stay on Praluent based on these minor side effects. Very hopeful about this convenient statin alternative."

"I am male, 65 years old, in good shape, fairly active (just had a great stress test), and have survived for 15 years since an emergency quadruple bypass. I have been using Praluent for five years or more at the suggestion of my cardiologist (150mg/mL injection twice a month). It was prescribed because all other medications (mostly various statins) had little to no effect on my cholesterol levels, something all my family members struggle with (however, I am the only one with any heart issues - lucky me). Honestly, and I do feel really bad for the folks who report negative outcomes and symptoms here, but it nearly immediately made a huge difference in my total cholesterol, HDL/LDL, and triglyceride levels, which are stellar then and now. I can also honestly say that I have had absolutely no side effects even though I was prone to some bad ones when on various statins (muscle pain, headaches, etc.). I don't even mind the injectable application as it is a minor inconvenience."

"I cannot take statins because of the pain they cause in my joints so I gave this a try. I am a female aged 65 yo and I had a heart attack 3 years ago. I have one stent but have other calcified vessels and my cholesterol is high so don’t have a lot of options I’m told by my Cardiologist. I had the worst reaction I’ve ever had to any medication after injecting 75mg of Praluent. Firstly I had a nosebleed and then I had extreme nausea and was throwing up most of the night. I also had a migraine headache that started behind my right eye and lasted for a few days (for which Tylenol 1000mg didn’t help at all!) My BP also went up to 188/100! It has been 11 days since I took that shot and today I have extreme lower back pain as well as lingering dizziness and nausea. I’m supposed to take the second shot 3 days from now. I emailed my Cardiologist with this information but he thinks that’s unusual and that I should go ahead with it."

"I'm a 73 year old man and I've been doing the 75mg Praluent injections now for almost 4 years with no side effects. My LDL that I get tested every 6 months is is a very low 24 thanks to Praluent. When I had my heart attack 5 years ago my LDL was a very high 250. I'm happy that my CVS Silverscript Plus pays for most of the cost. I also take 20 mg Atorvastatin daily. The painless Praluent auto injector takes about 5 seconds to inject after warming it up and pushing the auto injector button. The only thing I don't like is the high cost and having to keep the Praluent refrigerated before use. For me there is no pain or bleeding at the injection site which is my leg."

"I have been using Praluent for 6 months. Previous attempts to lower my cholesterol (normally in the 300-400 range) with statins and supplements were unsuccessful, leading to coronary artery disease and a subsequent 5-graft bypass surgery. After 6 months on Praluent injections (easy to administer with foolproof visual window), new blood work showed my cholesterol at 101, a stunning improvement. I couldn't ask for more. One minor side effect was skin flaking in about a 6-inch radius around the injection site (usually belly). No itching, just flaking. Small price to pay for such a great benefit."

"I've been taking Praluent for 5 years and have had NO side effects that I could link to Praluent, UNTIL NOW. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome, which is an autoimmune condition. My liver enzymes have been elevated. My liver doctor diagnosed me with Primary Billary Cholengitis, but from taking a fibro scan, my liver shows to be completely healthy. The doctor says the autoimmune condition is migrating to another organ, my liver. But after looking at the side effect info on Praluent, I find there is a rare but severe side effect of elevated liver enzymes. The other more common side effect that I have is a cold. (I never made the connection to Praluent.) I've had a cold since June 2022, an entire year. I've also had a runny nose for 5 years since I began taking Praluent. I'm writing this review because I think anybody on Praluent should have their liver values checked. No symptoms exist, so you'd never know your liver was in trouble. It did bring down my cholesterol."

"My cholesterol was over 300 for over 20 years. Statins made my legs pull and ache so doctor decided to try Praluent. After 8 injections the cardiologist called and told me to stop taking it. My cholesterol was 630 now. Electrolytes nearly doubled. They say this is not a "normal" reaction, but it is mine. Now they have started me on Repatha. I've taken one injection and am getting blood tested before 2nd shot. Needless to say I am nervous."

"Miracle drug for me! I am 26 and had very high cholesterol (309mg/dl total cholesterol). My cardiologist did not want me to go on statins so instead prescribed this drug. I was prescribed it in November and have been giving myself 2 monthly doses since then. I just got my blood work back and my total cholesterol was 180 and my HDLs were up and LDLs were down. I give myself the injection in my thigh and have no issues. Slight soreness at injection site but that is it."

"A female, 60+, I started Praluent injections (150 mg twice a month) in December 2020. At that time, I had a history of normal blood pressure. After 2 months on Praluent my LDL dropped to 33, however, I began getting rashes, hip and back pain, my feet felt numb and tingly, and my blood pressure increased. I asked my doctor to reduce the dose to 75 mg twice a month. I now have been on it for almost 8 months and my blood pressure has steadily increased. I am now on BP medication for hypertension. This drug is outstanding for reducing familial high cholesterol but, in my case, the side effects frighten me. I will stick with a statin."

"My Cholesterol was higher 5 for years when it should have been under 5 to be normal. Unable to take stations, it was 7.4 when I started on Praulent. 9 months later, my cholesterol was down to 4.53, and no noticeable side effects. I have always been prone to sinus infections, but the number of incidences or severity has not increased."
