For Diabetic Macular Edema "My husband just completed a 3-year study. He had significant improvement. He was able to read several new lines on the eye chart. Initially, when we started, we had only hoped to stabilize and prevent further loss of vision. It was a blessing to have so much improvement. The shots do hurt and sometimes cause a very bloodshot eye, better that though than vision loss caused by laser treatment."

For Diabetic Macular Edema "I've been attending the Eye Hospital for many years and recently received five Eylea injections spaced one month apart. This was to reduce swelling due to diabetic macular edema. Initially, there was little change, which left me feeling somewhat despondent, however, after the fourth injection, the swelling started to reduce in size. The change is significant, and with the optical distortions I experienced almost gone, my general sight has improved beyond expectation. As a result, I'm delighted that yesterday I received the first of three further injections, this time spaced two months apart. I count myself very lucky that I have not experienced any side effects, save slight discomfort the day after treatment. I would also like to thank the staff at the hospital for their skill and dedication, which helps me to see and enjoy the world more clearly each day."

For Diabetic Retinopathy "I was given two injections of Avastin in my left eye, with some improvement. My doctor decided to try Eylea. After my first injection 6 days ago, I still have mild pain, blood in the white where injected, blurred vision. The first 24 hours, my eye was quite painful and tearing like crazy and very sensitive to light. I am not sure I will take it again, especially if the blurry vision does not improve. My vision prior to injection was that I had black lines/floaters that would move through my vision, but it was not blurry. This is very concerning. Just FYI that none of my injections hurt until the numbing agent wore off."

For Diabetic Macular Edema "I started with Avastin, then the doctor moved me to Eylea, which seemed better, but last time the change was minimal (might be due to the holidays and cheating with my diabetes more than normal). Not sure, but he is switching me to Vabysmo. For all of you who find the shots or after the shots painful, check with your doctor first. But I accidentally found out that taking DayQuil about 1/2 hour before helps with the aftereffects. I get extra anesthesia before the shots, and if the doctor waits a little for the anesthesia to kick in, you don't feel the shot. FYI, the extra anesthesia is a shot but does not hurt because it is put where there are no nerves. Hope this helps some of you. Hopefully, someday they will find a pill form of this or, better yet, a cure."

For Macular Degeneration "Hurts a lot! Injected into eye at 3:00. Still in pain at 7:00. I guess I can't complain about a few hours of suffering if it saves my vision. Also, I can't stop wondering why the people who make it charge over $15,000 for the 2 drops put in my eye today."

For Macular Degeneration "I have had wet macular degeneration for 4 years. So far, I have had 14 Eylea injections in my left eye, spanning once a month for the first year lessening to only one injection in the last year. Injection pain and redness varied a lot, some injections were painful and messy, others not so. I put it down to the experience of the injector. All cleared up fine. The afflicted eye, on the last examination, had no active signs of AMD."
