For Osteoporosis "I was apprehensive about taking this Tymlos injection because I’m always sensitive to medications. I took the shot Thursday night at 9:15, immediately had lightheadedness and fatigue, heart palpitations. The heart palpitations went away, lightheadedness and fatigue stayed. I went to bed at 11 PM, was awakened by horrible reflux at 3 AM. Fell back to sleep, was awakened at 5 AM, severe pain in my entire head, teeth, gums, etc. Sat up to get Tylenol and was totally blind in my left eye. I woke my husband, he took me to the emergency room. Spent 7 hours being tested, 2 CT scans, expert eye examinations, neurological testing, blood tests, all normal tests. I try never to take pain medication because it makes me nauseous, but they said it would be baby doses. Ok. Well, wound up dry heaving for 3 hrs. Finally released, went home. Once pain meds wore off, pain in head started again. I took 2 gabapentins, 2 Xanax, and slept all night. I woke up Saturday morning, same pain in head, the pain jumps all around."

For Osteoporosis "I've been on Tymlos for only 1 month. I had a spinal fracture in the past, as well as multiple other fractures from falling from a standing position. Anyway, I have back pain from fractures, but the back pain on Tymlos was so severe that I have stopped it. I had a headache after the injection, so I just took Tylenol. Fatigue was another problem, along with nausea. I took Zofran. I will ask my doctor to try Prolia. Oh, I am 69, diagnosed at 50 with osteoporosis, but was always afraid of side effects. Good luck."

For Osteoporosis "OMG. This drug, Tymlos, did a number on me. I have been off it over a week because I woke up after two weeks of vertigo and fatigue and cloudy urine and feeling just horrible with a trigger finger on my left thumb. Then the pain went up my arm to my shoulder, and I couldn't lift my arm, then it went to both arms. Two weeks after I have stopped, I am still waking up with a severe trigger finger. The pain is crazy in the mornings. Of course, the doctor and the nurse who helped me said they had never heard of this side effect. I hope this is not permanent. But if it continues, I will be doing a lot more investigation into anyone else getting these crazy side effects."

For Osteoporosis "I am just about finished with my second pen. I switched to injecting at bedtime because of side effects, and that has worked well. I do get the dizziness and palpitations. During the day, I do experience fatigue and brain fog, but it seems to be lessening. I have fractured three vertebrae and have a score of -4.3 in my spine, so I am planning on staying on it."

For Osteoporosis "Horrendous itching all over my body, could only tolerate 1/2 the dose... i.e., 40 mcg. Any increase in dose resulted in marked tachycardia (fast heartbeat) that was uncomfortable. I also experienced considerable fatigue. None of the osteoporosis drugs are without significant side effects. No good options, very unfortunately, for those of us who suffer from this. Also, it takes a while to get used to doing subQ injections the very weird way the company recommends... injecting directly at a 90-degree angle right into your abdominal skin. If you are thin, this is not the easiest thing to do. Definitely do NOT recommend this drug, and I am a medical doctor myself."

For Osteoporosis "I have been prescribed Tymlos prior to upcoming hip replacement surgery. My first dosage was today. Slight headache, a bit of back pain, and some fatigue. My surgeon says Tymlos and Forteo are the only drugs that lay down strong bone. The others, such as Prolia, Fosamax, generate weak bones, hence the easy breaks while on them. I will continue to take Tymlos as long as I can afford it to build strong bone before and after my surgery. I have had one osteoporosis-involved fracture a year ago when I fell and broke my pelvis. Not fun. We will see if this helps."

"I've been on this Tymlos for 5 weeks to help with nonunion of bone. Sometimes headaches after injection, always racing heart for about 5 minutes. Extreme fatigue is the worst side effect, but bone is healing, so I'll continue."

For Osteoporosis "Just started second Tymlos pen for osteoporosis. Side effects after injection (which start 15 min or so after) lasted 3.5-4.0 hours initially, down to 15-20 minutes now. Initial side effects: 'Drugged-like feeling' (lightheaded, dizzy, brain fog, out of it), fatigue, heart pounding. Other side effects that linger daily: initial severe bone pain, which has slowly decreased, vertigo, which is still present, fatigue, weight gain, brain fog. Due to my career and safety role, I have been out of work on STD, due to the above side effects. As they are lessening, they are still present, which may cause me to end use of this drug."

For Osteoporosis "I took Tymlos for almost 3 months. Racing heart, palpitations, being winded, and fatigue were my most severe symptoms. I am told these symptoms should have subsided in 7 or 8 hours after an injection, but that did not happen in my case. These symptoms, especially the palpitations, persisted off and on 24/7 and are still with me even though I've been off the medication for 2 weeks. So now I have to have a cardiac workup to make sure there is no damage to my heart, and I guess try to pinpoint what is happening. I did not have heart problems/issues before I started this medication. Right now, my heart is my main concern before I start to address my osteoporosis. I feel like I traded one problem for two."

For Osteoporosis "I had a hysterectomy at age 27, unable to tolerate hormones later, was unable to tolerate osteoporosis medications, tried several. Have been on Tymlos 7 months, only side effect is the fatigue, but I can get through that. Hoping that this helps, as the cost is going to keep me from staying on it. I am 69, my hip score was -3.5."

For Osteoporosis "Am on my 3rd pen; since the beginning, side effects have been palpitations and fatigue, so I moved (an hour at a time) injections from morning to about 2 hours before bed. I tried bedtime, but it disturbed my sleep, so I made the adjustment. Palpitations were mild, might last 15 minutes. Two nights ago, I went through my regular routine, and within 10 minutes, my heart was literally beating out of my chest. Very fast, very hard. It was very alarming and kept up for 1 1/2 hours, and then another 1/2 hour before settling back into rhythm. I contacted my doctor the next day and detailed past side effects and this episode. The response was that these were not side effects of Tymlos and maybe I needed to see a cardiologist or I had 'anxiety,' and he didn't think I should discontinue the injections. I thought this was very dismissive and careless. I have other health issues that require doctor visits on a regular basis. Pretty sure if I had heart problems, someone would have addressed this."

For Osteoporosis "I'm on my fifth injection. My numbers were 4.7 in the left hip. My calcium and vitamin D are excellent, so I can't improve with nutrition. I didn't get any instructions; the VA sent me the pen and, later, the needles. When I asked for instruction, they told me to look at the YouTube videos, which I did. Bunches of them, but they don't tell you where to inject or what to look for after. No one mentions all the stuff you all are telling me. So, I'm sorry, but glad to hear the back pain, palpitations, insomnia, brain fog, general malaise, severe headache, and pains in my legs and ankles are fairly typical. I'm not surprised at the health care professionals dismissing our concerns. After all, years of living with the pain of a condition and knowing our own bodies are not equivalent to that two-week course the health provider took. I experience burning and itching at the injection site that seems to grow bigger with each injection. It was the first time the needle actually hurt... a lot."

For Osteoporosis "After 6 weeks, the following side effects have not improved with my pre-bed shots: heartburn and gas on and off all day. Fatigue. Spend 11-13 hours in bed. Trying to sleep or fatigue so strong, getting up is a challenge. Brain fog, which I assume is from constant fatigue. L1 fracture is more painful now than the first 3 months of healing. Not sure I can stay on this as depression is becoming the newest side effect. More power to those who succeed."

For Osteoporosis "I am two weeks into my Tymlos injections. Side effects have included palpitations, increased heart rate, nausea, and fatigue. The fatigue has been the hardest part so far. But I am in my early 30s and have sustained 20+ non-traumatic fractures, so I feel that this is my only option at this point. I am hopeful to see what my next DEXA looks like."

For Osteoporosis "Just started 3 weeks ago after breaking 6 bones in 6 months, I am 57. First week, severe dizziness, headache, and nausea. The dizziness got better after the first week. The headache is daily, the bones hurt at night when I do the injection and am very cold for a few hours, and cannot sleep. Seem very fatigued."

For Osteoporosis "Dizziness, digestive problems, fatigue, and bone pain to varying degrees. Also caused severe insomnia that occurs in cycles. If it weren’t working, I’d never stick with it."
