My doctor up my dosage from 50mg to 100mg, I'm a little nervous on taken the whole 100 because of the side effects. Been on sertraline for 8 weeks-4 weeks 25 mg - 4 weeks 50mg and now starting 100 mg. first few days on25 I thought I was gonna lose it because of the added anxiety but the doc prescribed me klonopin.5 which help a lot.
Zoloft - Can I split my 100 mg sertraline tablet?

My doc told me to split my 100 mg to 50 mg for a wk, then go and take the 100 mg after a week. The generic I had was easy just to break apart with my hands. Back then, I never upped my dosage because I was doing well w/the 50 mgs. Now that I'm older & have had more crap in my life it's harder to find the right med & dosage. I also take 1 mg of Klonopin at nite.
I just ending up taking the whole 100 mg of zoloft, I was thinking going from 50-100 was a lot and was going to try 50-75 mg. I take .25 am .25 1:30 and .5 at 7 pm of klonopin so 1 mg a day it really helps. But before taking zoloft I had anxiety but once in awhile now it's constent. Feel like I drank ten cups of coffee without klonopin.
I wonder if taking the 50 mg in the afternoon rather than at 7 pm would make you less wired. There is so much trial and error.
I'm seriously thinking Paxil again. 12 weeks is to long. I hate having to rely on a benzo!
Jdog76; Really you should try and get to the dose the doctor wants you on it is rare when you have been going up this slowly that the side effects would be as bad as they were when you started it at 25mg but both the tablets have a split on them and can be broken if you really want to try and just bump it up a little.YOUR side effects are hanging around because everytime the doctor changes the dose you get side effects for a short period after you start the new dose.give it a try and see if it helps anymore but please try and get it upto what the doctor wants you on.
Thank you!! I'm not sure if this zoloft is for me or not. Was on Paxil for years then decided I didn't need any longer but 8 months later anxiety came back. The start ups on increases are the rough part on this zoloft, hope this is it for increase thank god for klonopin!!
Paxil calms me more than Zoloft did, but I'm having horrible S/Es on Paxil... horrible headaches & fatigue. Did you have any S/Es on Paxil and how was the withdraw from Paxi? I had no withdraw from Zoloft after being on it for a couple of yrs.
Paxil worked great for me with little side effects besides being sleepy in the beginning. Never really thought about side effects when started it probably because it worked and here I am week 12 or so on zoloft and still not feeling great without taking klonopin. Might skip back to Paxil but doc thought it was what was giving me my pvc's but I still get them from time to time.
Thanks. I'm 60 and really have a hard time w/S/Es. For most Zoloft is more energizing than Paxil. At one time, 25 mg of Zoloft gave me the help I needed w/depression. I would be scared to ever take more than 1 mg of Klonopin because now I cannot sleep at all if I don't take it.
Klonopin helps me rest too. Being tired feeling from Paxil will go away. Mine did and felt normal unless I missed a day or two.
Hi i am taking sertraline100 mg. I just thought it was too much with my other meds, i called my pharmacist and he told me i can cut it in half. As for the 50mg you can cut it in half if it is scored which is a line down the middle. Hop this helps. P.s. do not cut them in half if they are not scored.
Yes, you can split them. They are scored in the middle on one side.
