you should suffer some withdrawal sypmtoms if you stop cold turkey (vomit, runny stool, anxiety, skin crawling etc) talk with your PCP about weening off the opiates. stopping cold turkey has serious side effects.
note: after 3 weeks of opiate use your body will become used to the narcotic. DO NOT STOP COLD TURKEY, as stated above, consult your pcp before taking any action.
Yep you are correct!!! last night i had a little hot and cold flashes... i also take Xanex because i have some mild panic attacks... so i usually take 1mg in the morning then another 1mg in the afternoon and it does help a lot. i also took a small piece of a 8mg suboxone that a friend gave me this morning. i do have runny nose but no vomiting or runny stools. i figure i would take a little piece of the suboxone then skip a day then take another piece then skip two days and so on and so forth to ween off. But as stated i shouldn't have to much trouble over the next couple of days. Boy was this a wake up call... thank god i stopped when i did because i didnt want to have to go through the whole process of detoxing and going to a pain management doctor like i did 10 months ago. Its not worth the stress, pain ,and agony!!!
Feeling a lot better today!!! had some loose stools here and there but my body is just getting rid of all the opiate crap. Man yesterday was a little rough before i took the little piece of suboxone... but once i put that bad boy under my tongue 15-20 min later i was good as new... i wont take any today but i will take another small piece tomorrow then skip two days then take my final piece and from there i should be fine and back on track. Thanks everyone for all the feed back, you guys are great and i love this sight its informative and god bless everyones heart
Hey Gang,
Feeling a lot better these last couple of days... My last use of roxies was last tuesday. I don't plan on heading down that road any longer as i know being sober is the most ultimate high you can get out of life!!! Boy was i playing with some real wicked Fire... i can imagine if i continued to use the w/d's would have been ten times worse. I have a cousin who is going through withdrawals right now as i type this. He is so hardheaded and stubborn he wont listen to me so hes on his way to my old pain management doc to get suboxone. I told him once he gets them i will put him on a regimen to wean off of them which will take 10-14 days with no or very little w/d symptoms. I really do feel for him but he was a harder user than i was.
I am not an expert but have had to use narcotics to control pain. You will have some withdrawal but you are better off the drug than on. All medication affects the Kidneys and Liver but short term it should be all right. Drink lots of water to flush your system of the drug.
i appreciate your answer... but to what extent will the withdrawals be? i mean 3 weeks of using 120-150mg daily is not a long time compared to others that use for years. hopefully nothing serious maybe a day or two of comforting w/d? wouldnt u think?
You can also reduce the dosage gradually. Just split the last half dozen so that you can reduce gradually but since you weren't on them long you should be fine. I've been on them for the last 5 years. With the problems that I have with my back and neck and most of those problems can't be fixed I dont think I'll be off of them soon. It hurts a lot. I am happy to have something to blunt the pain. I know pain management Drs some of them anyway say don't chase the pain but some days are better than others and on those I take less than the prescribed amount. I have worse withdrawal symptoms from Gabapentin than narcotics bad dizziness etc. In my situation its used for pain. take care...
