I took my first pill around 4 pm yesterday and haven’t been able to sleep all night :-/
No, insomnia (difficulty sleeping) is not a reported side-effect of doxycycline.
It is unlikely to be responsible for your sleeping problems.

That is not true I have always had trouble sleeping on these. The same with my mother.
I was first on minicycline for 3-1/2 days for a staph infection (pedicure related) and I got extremely dizzy so dr switched me to doxycycline. Started Sun nite (2x daily at 100 mg) and by Tuesday night COULD NOT SLEEP AT ALL (without drugging myself silly with Seroquel which I've been off of for 4+ months). I have anxiety so I was on the Seroquel for that but have been fortunate to be off it for this long. Last night (Wed) again, could not sleep until I added Seroquel in again. I've looked at other websites, and know the doxy is causing my insomnia. Fortunately my anxiety isn't ramping up (yet). I see an acupuncturist to help with the anxiety (and she got me off the Seroquel) and have missed 2 appts. due to this infection. Hoping to go next week. Really helps! Seeing my Derm dr. again tomorrow to make sure this is going away!!
