My gait was fine before prednisone 20mg for four months but after weening off several more months I can barely walk and my legs feel like I have weights around my ankles. What did the prednisone do to cause this condition?
Who should I see when my current rheumatologist I unable to help me?

Given the shortage in rheumatologists it is difficult to be seen. I have benefited from two solutions. Many rheumatology clinics have PAs, FNPs, or fellows working with the doctors. Seeing them between doctor visits is often an option. The best thing is to ask your provider if there are any research studies you could enroll in. I usually am seen once a month by the study doctors or coordinators. They also address current health issues that arise. I have been able to be seen by excellent rheumatologists by enrollment in their studies. I hope this is helpfull.
